A second diffuser is not extravagance — it is often the honest fix. Use more than one when your home has separate rooms, when each room wants its own scent, or when you need fragrance in two places at once. But there is a point where one waterless machine is the smarter answer.
Quick answer
Use multiple when: you have separate closed rooms, you want a different scent per room, or you need scent in two places at once (foyer + living before guests).
Two storeys? Almost always multiple — mist won't climb a staircase. One Sukoon per level, at least.
Want one signature everywhere instead? Skip multiple tanks — use a waterless SOSA Vaayu.
The short version
Short answer: Multiple diffusers for separate rooms, per-room scents, or two-places-at-once; one waterless machine for one signature everywhere.
The pick: A second
Sukoon ₹1,799 (or budget
Boond ₹799);
Vaayu ₹11,999 for whole-home.
A single diffuser scents the air of the one room it stands in — that is simply how the cool mist behaves. So the question of "when do I need more than one" is really a question about how your home is divided and what you want each part of it to feel like. Here are the four situations where a second or third diffuser genuinely earns its place, and the one where it does not.
Use multiple diffusers when
These are the moments a second Sukoon pays for itself
1. You have separate, closed rooms. Two bedrooms at opposite ends, or a bedroom that shuts off from the living room — the mist will never reach both. Each closed room that matters to you wants its own point of scent.
2. You want a different scent identity per room. A fresh, bright note where you work and eat; something soft and calm where you sleep. One machine can only hold one fragrance at a time, so two rooms with two moods means two diffusers.
3. You need scent in two places at once. Before guests arrive you want the foyer and the living room both ready — a single diffuser cannot be in both rooms at the same time.
4. Your home is on two levels. Mist does not climb a staircase. A duplex or two-storey home wants at least one diffuser per floor.
The rule of thumb: one diffuser per closed room you actually use. Add a device whenever a wall or a closed door stands between you and where you want the scent.
The one time NOT to buy more
There is a threshold where reaching for a fourth or fifth ultrasonic diffuser stops being sensible. If what you want is one continuous signature flowing across a large open-plan floor — not different scents in different rooms — then several water tanks is the clumsy way to get there. You would be refilling four machines, each adding humidity, and still hearing them chug in the quiet. This is exactly the job the waterless SOSA Vaayu was built for: one machine, one scent, the whole floor, no moisture, on a schedule.

Only run the diffusers for rooms you are using. There is no benefit to every machine being on all day — it over-scents the home and tires the nose.

One honest caveat before you buy a second or third. Each ultrasonic diffuser adds a little humidity to its room. Through a dry Pune or Delhi winter, that is a small bonus. But if you are in a humid coastal city and tempted to run several tanks all evening, you are feeding damp air — the one place multiple ultrasonic units are the wrong call, and where a single waterless machine wins. And whatever you own, run each in short thirty-to-sixty-minute sessions; fragrance crowns clean, aired air, it does not need to be on all day.
Frequently asked
When should you use multiple ultrasonic diffusers in one home?
Use more than one when your home has separate closed rooms that each need scent, when you want a different fragrance identity in different rooms — say a fresh note in the living room and something calm in the bedroom — or when you need scent present in two places at once, such as the foyer and living room before guests arrive. Multiple diffusers also make sense across two storeys, since mist will not climb a staircase on its own.
When is one diffuser or a single waterless machine better?
If you want one continuous signature across a large open-plan space rather than different scents per room, a single waterless
SOSA Vaayu is better than several ultrasonic units — it covers the whole area, adds no humidity and schedules through an app. Running three or four ultrasonic tanks in a humid coastal home for hours is the wrong tool; one waterless machine avoids both the moisture and the refilling.
Is it better to have a different scent in each room?
It can be, as long as the scents relate to each other and you keep each at a low, easy level. A fresh, clean note where you work and eat and a soft, calm one where you sleep feels intentional. The risk is clashing loud scents at a doorway; keep the families in the same broad direction and run each diffuser in short sessions.
How many ultrasonic diffusers should I run at once?
Only run the ones for the rooms you are actually using. There is no benefit to having every diffuser on all day — it over-scents the home and tires the nose. Switch on the bedroom diffuser in the evening, the living room one when you are there or before guests arrive, and give each a thirty to sixty minute session rather than leaving them running.
Does running several diffusers add too much humidity?
It can, because each ultrasonic diffuser adds mild humidity to its room. In a dry Pune or Delhi winter that is welcome, but running several tanks through a humid Mumbai or Chennai monsoon adds moisture you do not want. If you need scent across a large area for long periods in a humid city, a waterless SOSA Vaayu is the better choice.
Add the second device
A diffuser per room, or one machine for the whole floor.
If your rooms want different moods, add a second Sukoon and another Hotel Collection fragrance. If you want a single signature across a big open space, the waterless SOSA Vaayu is the smarter buy.
