The question sounds like a branding question and it is really an engineering one. Five stores that share a fragrance and share a setting will not smell the same, and the reason has nothing to do with the fragrance.
Quick answers — read this first
Should all five stores use the same fragrance? Yes, and without much hesitation. A retail group has one signature, not five, because a customer who uses two of your stores should not encounter two different rooms wearing the same name over the door. Where the honest answer changes is one step down: the same profile does not mean the same dial. Ceiling height, air handling, how often the door opens and how hard the floor is all change how the identical oil reads. Fix the fragrance centrally and treat the setting as a local variable.
Why can't I just set all five machines the same? Because volume, not floor area, is what you are scenting, and no two of your stores hold the same volume of air. A double-height flagship with a street door eats capacity that a low-ceilinged mall unit never touches. Hard marble and glass make everything read louder; carpet and upholstery absorb and re-release. Set the same number in all five and you will get one store that is imperceptible, one that is correct, and one that your advisors quietly complain about by the second week.
What does it cost across five stores? Take a worked estate: three stores at 1,400-2,200 sq ft on one SOSA Vaayu each at ₹11,999, and two single-room stores under 750 sq ft on a SOSA Sukoon each at ₹1,899. Total hardware spend ₹39,795 for the group. Bulk pricing, GST or corporate invoicing, AMC and multi-site rollout support are not published terms - confirm them with us before you plan a purchase order. If any of the five sits between 750 and 1,500 sq ft, the call turns on whether it has an entrance lobby, a private lounge or central AC to mount into.
The short answer
Short answer: yes to one fragrance across all five, no to one machine setting. The profile is the group's identity and belongs at head office; the intensity is a property of each building and belongs to each store manager, recorded on a single sheet. A worked five-store estate is three Vaayu at ₹11,999 and two Sukoon at ₹1,899, ₹39,795 in total.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) per store above about 1,500 sq ft, running low on trading-hour timers with the key-lock engaged, and one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) in any store that is a single room under 750 sq ft.
Next step: send the five floor plans with carpet area, ceiling height and door type marked, and we will come back with a machine per store and a starting intensity for each - Ask for a retail scenting plan.
The identity is the profile. The setting is a property of each building, and treating it as part of the identity is the mistake that makes a group smell inconsistent while every store follows the manual.
The multi-store machine - tap to see the specification
Should every boutique in a five-store group use the same signature fragrance?
Yes to the fragrance and no to the settings, and the space between those two answers is the whole post. Start with the easy half. A retail group has one signature, not five. A customer who uses one of your stores this month and another one next month should walk into the same business twice, and the air is one of the few things in a store that a person registers before anyone has spoken. Five fragrances across five stores is not five personalities; it is one business that has not decided what it is. So the profile is a head-office decision, made once, written down, and not revisited by a store manager who found something they liked. For this category that profile is dry - dry woods, cedar and vetiver, often with a leather facet, sometimes a soft dry amber, dry tea or citrus at the brighter end - and never sweet, edible, powdery or floral, because that is the register of a fragrance counter and your cases hold watches. Now the hard half, which almost every group gets wrong. The same profile does not mean the same dial. You are not scenting floor area, you are scenting volume, and none of your five buildings hold the same volume of air. A double-height flagship with a street door that opens two hundred times a day exchanges its air constantly; a low-ceilinged mall unit behind a lobby barely does. Marble, steel and glass reflect everything and make a fragrance read louder; carpet and upholstery absorb it and give it back for weeks. Central AC pushes the profile everywhere in one store and short-circuits it back into the return in another. Copy one number into all five machines and you will get one store nobody notices, one that is right, and one where the advisors are opening the door for air by Thursday. So: fix the profile centrally, and let each store find its own setting inside a range you approve, with two rules. The setting is confirmed by walking in from outside, never judged by someone who has been standing in it, because a nose adapts in about twenty minutes. And it is set for the advisor who breathes it nine hours a day, not for the customer who is in it for forty minutes; if the team says it is too much, it is too much. Then write the number on a single sheet per store so it can be audited on foot, and engage the key-lock, because levels only ever drift upward on a shop floor. Hardware for a worked estate: three larger stores on a SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 each and two single-room stores on a SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 each - ₹39,795 in total. Two disclosures before you raise a purchase order: bulk pricing, corporate or GST invoicing, AMC, warranty, installation, minimum order and multi-site rollout support are not published terms and must be confirmed with us, and cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately - the Vaayu ships with 400ml which runs 90+ days a fill, and continuity of supply should be confirmed before a five-store programme is committed. And plainly: no one can promise you that ambient scent moves footfall, dwell, conversion or spend, and a supplier who quotes you a percentage across five stores is selling. Ask for a retail scenting plan and send all five floor plans together.
One profile for the group, one setting per building. Three Vaayu at ₹11,999 and two Sukoon at ₹1,899 is ₹39,795 for five stores. Record the setting, lock the machine, audit on foot.
For each store above about 1,500 sq ft, one SOSA Vaayu - waterless, adjustable intensity, 1h/4h/8h/24h app timers and a key-lock that is the single most useful feature in a group with five teams. ₹11,999 each. Any store that is one room under 750 sq ft takes a Sukoon at ₹1,899 instead, and that is not a downgrade.
A five-store group almost never buys five identical machines, and it should not try to. Match the hardware to each building and the perceived level will match across the estate, which is the only thing a customer can actually experience.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, auto-stop and key-lock. Freestanding, wall or HVAC mounted, which is how an entrance and a lounge get the same air as the showroom floor.
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft, supplied with three 15ml fragrances. In a group this is not the poor relation; it is the correct machine for a small trading room, and a Vaayu there would spend its life throttled down to almost nothing.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml and further supply must be confirmed with SOSA before a multi-store commitment.
The three things that differ between your five stores
Three variables account for almost all of the difference between five rooms running the same oil, and none of them is the oil.
1
Measure volume, not carpet area
A double-height store and a low-ceilinged one are not the same store
The Vaayu is rated in cubic metres because that is what fragrance actually occupies. Two of your stores can share a carpet area to the square foot and hold wildly different volumes once you measure ceiling height, and a mezzanine or a double-height entrance void eats capacity faster than anything else on a plan. This is why a group specification that lists square feet is already broken. Ask every store for carpet area and ceiling height together, work out the volume, and place each store in a band. Then the machine choice follows arithmetic rather than argument, and the intensity starts from a sensible place instead of from whatever the last manager left it on.
Tip: Any store with a double-height void should be treated as one band larger than its floor area suggests.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
A street door and a mall door make the same machine behave differently
A street-facing door that opens all day exchanges the room's air many times an hour, and no setting fixes that - turning the machine up makes the interior overpowering while the threshold still smells of the road. A mall store behind a lobby, or one on a shared air-handling system, holds its air far longer and needs less. Central AC changes the answer again: in one store it distributes the profile evenly, in another it pulls it straight back into the return before it reaches the floor. Where the machine sits relative to supply and return matters more than the number on the dial, and it is worth ten minutes with your HVAC contractor per store.
Tip: Place away from the doorway and away from the return grille, well inside the room.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
Levels only ever drift upward, and they drift in five places at once
The failure mode in a group is not that a store is set wrong on day one; it is that by month four two stores have crept up because somebody could not smell it while standing in it. Give every store one sheet: profile, machine, position, intensity, timer hours, who to call. Engage the key-lock so the level cannot be changed casually, and put a quarterly walk-in on somebody's calendar - the audit is a person arriving from the street and saying whether they notice a fragrance or a room that is looked after. The second is the correct answer. Anyone on the floor must still be able to switch it off in seconds, and a customer who mentions sensitivity is answered by turning it down or off, never by explaining the policy.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
Consistency across five stores is a consistency of perception, not of settings - which means the identical dial reading in all five machines is the thing most likely to make your group smell inconsistent.
Fix the fragrance at head office, find the intensity in each building, and write both down where an auditor can read them.
One per larger store: SOSA Vaayu covers up to 1000m³, so a boutique floor uses a fraction of it and runs low rather than hard. ₹11,999 each.
A group does not become consistent by putting the same number into five machines. It becomes consistent when five different numbers produce the same room.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA
Why the unglamorous features decide a group rollout
Five shop floors, five teams, and one level you approved
Two machines cover a five-store watch group almost entirely, and which store gets which is decided by volume and air path rather than by rank. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately, so the 400ml supplied runs 90+ days a fill and continuity of supply must be confirmed with SOSA before you commit a group programme. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The SOSA watch-boutique specification
One fragrance, one machine per store, one recorded setting
Fix the fragrance centrally, set the intensity in each building, and record both. Ambient scent here is a presentation decision like lighting, seating or case layout; it is never used to cover or neutralise another smell, and where a store has a fit-out, carpet, damp or corridor-ingress problem the honest answer is to fix that first. Bulk pricing, GST and corporate invoicing, AMC, warranty, installation, minimum order and multi-site rollout support are not published terms and must be confirmed with SOSA before a purchase order. Ask for a retail scenting plan before you spend anything.

A note from Sonal
The way this arrives is usually a WhatsApp message with five store names in it and the sentence, we want them all to smell the same. I always agree with the sentence and then disagree with what the person is about to do with it, which is buy five identical machines and set them to the same number. That is the moment a group stops being consistent, because the five buildings are not the same and the identical setting is the thing that makes them differ. So the first thing I send back is a request for five floor plans with carpet area and ceiling height on each, because that is the only document that lets me answer the question they actually asked.
The honest reframe is that consistency lives in the customer's perception, not in your specification document. Nobody has ever walked out of your Pune store thinking that the intensity was set two points lower than in Mumbai. What they can feel is whether the room is coherent - whether the air agrees with the marble, the light temperature, the pace of the service and the price on the tag. Getting five stores coherent is achievable and worth doing. It is also, I have to say, the last five per cent of what makes a boutique feel expensive, and it will not rescue a store where the lighting is wrong. It will not rescue a store whose lighting sits at three different colour temperatures, and in a group of five there is usually one of those.
So: one profile, agreed once and locked. One Vaayu at ₹11,999 in each store past about 1,500 sq ft, one Sukoon at ₹1,899 in each single-room store, ₹39,795 for the worked estate above. Bulk terms, invoicing, AMC and rollout support are not published, so ask rather than assume, and ask about refill continuity in the same conversation. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. And set the level for your advisors rather than your customers, because they are the only people in the building holding a real measurement.
Frequently asked questions
We operate five premium watch stores - should every boutique use the same signature fragrance?
Yes. A retail group should have one signature, because a customer who uses two of your stores should experience the same business twice. What should not be identical is the machine setting. Ceiling height, air handling, door traffic and floor finish differ store to store, so the same oil at the same intensity produces five noticeably different rooms. Fix the profile at head office and let each store find its intensity inside an approved range. In practice that means the profile is decided once at head office, written down, and not revisited by a store manager who has found something they liked locally.
Why do our stores smell different even though we use the same oil?
Because you are scenting volume rather than floor area, and no two buildings hold the same volume of air. A double-height entrance, a constantly opening street door, hard marble and glass, carpet and upholstery, and where the machine sits relative to the AC supply and return all change how an identical setting reads. The fix is to treat intensity as a local variable, recorded on one sheet per store and checked by walking in from outside. Where the machine sits relative to the AC supply and return matters more than the number on the dial, so a placement review is worth doing before any setting is touched.
What does scenting five watch stores cost?
For a worked estate: three stores of 1,400 to 2,200 sq ft on one SOSA Vaayu each at Rs 11,999, and two single-room stores under 750 sq ft on a SOSA Sukoon each at Rs 1,899. That is Rs 39,795 of hardware for the group. Bulk pricing, corporate or GST invoicing, AMC, warranty, installation, minimum order and multi-site rollout support are not published terms and must be confirmed with SOSA before a purchase order. If a store sits between 750 and 1,500 sq ft, the judgement turns on whether it has an entrance lobby, a private lounge or central AC to mount into rather than on floor area alone.
Will one signature scent across five stores increase sales or footfall?
No one can promise that and I will not. SOSA has run no research that would support a figure, and there is no honest way to separate ambient scent from the twenty other things a customer experiences in a boutique. The question worth answering is whether your five stores are coherent - whether the air agrees with the interior, the lighting, the service and the prices - which you can judge on foot in an afternoon. Any supplier quoting a percentage across five stores is selling you something, and I would treat that figure as marketing rather than as evidence.
How do we stop five store managers turning the level up?
Engage the key-lock on every machine, record the approved intensity and timer hours on one sheet per store, and audit it quarterly by walking in from the street rather than by asking over the phone. Levels only ever drift upward, because a person standing inside a store adapts to the fragrance within about twenty minutes and concludes it needs more. Anyone on the floor must still be able to switch the machine off in seconds. A customer who mentions sensitivity is answered by turning it down or off, never by defending the level or quoting the group standard back at them.
The honest small-store answer: A single trading room under 750 sq ft takes a Sukoon at ₹1,899, and it will match the group's perceived level perfectly well.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.
Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and infection control and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a patient's decision or any commercial outcome. Clinical areas including procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms are left unscented, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation.
