Seasonal · Three bottles
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles6 min readUpdated August 2026

Yes — a home shouldn't smell the same in May heat as it does on a cold December night. The fix isn't fussy: a fresh bottle, a clean bottle and a warm bottle, all run in one small diffuser.

Quick answer

Should home fragrance change with the seasons? Yes. Heat wants something fresh and citrusy; the monsoon wants something clean and light; winter wants something warm and woody. Your nose reads the same scent very differently across the year.

What does a seasonal wardrobe take? Three Hotel Collection fragrances (₹299 each) and one Sukoon that runs all three.

In one look
Short answer: Yes — build a three-season wardrobe: fresh for summer, clean for monsoon, warm for winter. One Sukoon runs all of it.
The pick: Four Seasons-inspired (summer) + Westin-inspired (monsoon) + Ritz-Carlton-inspired (winter), all in a Sukoon (₹1,799).

Think about how a heavy amber scent feels when it is forty-two degrees outside and the ceiling fan is pushing warm air around the room. It sits on you. It feels closed-in, almost sticky. Now imagine that same amber on a cold evening in Pune in December, with the windows shut and a shawl over your shoulders — suddenly it is the most comforting thing in the house. The fragrance did not change. The season did, and the season changes everything about how a scent lands. A home that smells the same in every month is quietly working against the weather instead of with it.

The case for a seasonal wardrobe
Why one scent can't carry the whole year

1. Heat lifts fragrance; cold flattens it. Warm air makes a scent bloom faster and feel bigger, so a rich winter fragrance can turn overwhelming in summer. A light citrus that feels perfect in May can vanish in a cold December room.

2. The monsoon changes the whole brief. When the air is already damp and heavy, you want a scent that reads as clean and dry — white tea, green freshness — not something sweet that adds to the closeness.

3. Your nose follows your body. In the heat you crave cool, bright, edible-fresh things. In the cold you crave warmth, wood and softness. Seasonal scent simply agrees with what you already want.

4. It costs almost nothing. Three Hotel Collection bottles are ₹299 each — the full three-season wardrobe is less than one imported candle.

5. One machine does all of it. The Sukoon runs every fragrance, so switching seasons is just switching the water and the bottle.

In short: yes — change with the seasons, but keep it to three bottles and one Sukoon. Fresh for the heat, clean for the rain, warm for the cold.

One honest caveat before you commit: the Sukoon is a water-based ultrasonic diffuser, so it releases a fine cool mist and adds a little humidity. Through a dry summer or a cold, closed-window winter that is welcome — it softens the air. Through a wet monsoon it works against you if you run it all day, so keep it to 30 to 60 minute sessions, air the room, and watch for any damp. If you scent for long hours in a humid coastal city like Mumbai or Chennai, the waterless Vaayu adds no moisture at all and is the drier choice. For most homes, one Sukoon and three seasonal bottles is the whole answer.

Common questions

Should you change your home fragrance with the seasons?
Yes. A fresh, citrusy scent feels right in the heat and a warm, woody one feels right in winter, because your nose and the air both change through the year. The easiest way is to own three SOSA Hotel Collection bottles — a summer, a monsoon and a winter fragrance — and run all three in the same Sukoon.
How many fragrances do I need for a seasonal wardrobe?
Three is plenty for most Indian homes: one fresh and citrusy for summer, one clean and light for the monsoon, and one warm and woody for winter. At ₹299 a bottle, the whole three-season wardrobe costs less than a single luxury candle, and one Sukoon runs all three.
Do I need a different diffuser for each season?
No. One Sukoon runs every Hotel Collection fragrance, so you only swap the bottle, not the machine. Empty and rinse the tank, add fresh water and the new season's fragrance, and the same diffuser carries you through the whole year.
Which fragrances suit which season?
For summer, choose fresh and citrusy: the Four Seasons-inspired, 1 Hotels-inspired or Westin-inspired styles. For the monsoon, keep it clean and light: Westin-inspired or 1 Hotels-inspired. For winter, go warm and woody: Ritz-Carlton-inspired, St. Regis-inspired or Shangri-La-inspired. All are SOSA's own interpretations.
Does running an ultrasonic diffuser add humidity in the monsoon?
A little, yes. The Sukoon is water-based, so it releases a fine cool mist. In a wet monsoon, run it in 30 to 60 minute sessions rather than all day, keep windows aired and damp in check, and if you scent for hours in a humid coastal city, the waterless Vaayu adds no moisture at all.
Build the seasonal wardrobe
One Sukoon, three fragrances — a scent for every season.
Start with the Sukoon and your current season's bottle, then add the other two as the year turns. The whole wardrobe costs less than one imported candle.
