Neither blend exists as a product: SOSA makes no white musk to put with anything. Both routes do exist as finished compositions, though, one citrus-led and one sandalwood-led, and for a reader who wants less powder I can tell you which I would take.
Quick answers — read this first
Does SOSA make white musk blended with citrus? Not as a product, since there is no white musk attar. As a composition, yes: SOSA Adaa opens with Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over a white musk, vetiver and cedarwood base, from ₹379 for 3ml.

Does SOSA make white musk with sandalwood? As a composition, yes. SOSA Ameeri has Indian sandalwood in the heart over white musk, soft oudh and amber. SOSA Mastani has Mysore sandalwood in the base, but no white musk is listed in it.

Which route is less powdery? The citrus route, for most readers. Its base is white musk with two dry woods and none of iris, heliotrope, violet or aldehydes. The sandalwood route is rounder and creamier, not drier.
The short answer
Short answer: Neither exists as a product. As compositions, citrus is Adaa and Khayaal, and sandalwood is Ameeri and Mastani. For less powder, take the citrus route.
The pick: One 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379, one dab, judged at hour three. Take SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 instead if warm matters more than dry.
Next step: Tell us what bothered you in the last white musk you wore, and we will say which route fits and whether the range has it. Ask for an attar recommendation.
Two routes to less powder: citrus or sandalwoodSOSA makes no white musk attar to blendCitrus route: Adaa, with Khayaal beside itSandalwood route: Ameeri and MastaniFor less powder I pick citrus: the base is dryAdaa from Rs 379 for 3ml; judge it at hour three
The first line is the gap. The next two are the two routes, with the attars that make each one. The fourth is my pick for this reader, and the last is the 3ml price, which is how you check the pick on your own skin.
The citrus route first, then the sandalwood pair
Straight answer
Should I Look for White Musk Blended With Sandalwood or With Citrus if I Want Something Less Powdery?
Look for the citrus route if you want it drier, and the sandalwood route if you want it rounder. Neither is a blend you can buy, since there is no white musk to blend, but both exist as compositions. The reasoning, in five steps.

1. Say the gap, then the routes. SOSA makes no white musk attar and no musk soliflore, so no blend of white musk with anything exists as a product. White musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab, and the routes are compositions built around it.

2. Citrus route: Adaa, and Khayaal beside it. SOSA Adaa opens with Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. SOSA Khayaal is sparkling bergamot, neroli, black tea and amberwood, a perfume oil that lists no musk.

3. Sandalwood route: Ameeri and Mastani. SOSA Ameeri has Indian sandalwood in the heart over soft oudh, amber and white musk. SOSA Mastani has Mysore sandalwood in the base with oudh, vanilla and tonka, and no white musk is listed in it.

4. Pick citrus for less powder. Sandalwood rounds a musk and makes it creamier. It does not make it drier. Adaa's base adds vetiver and cedarwood, and none of iris, heliotrope, violet or aldehydes is in the published pyramid.

5. Read the base, not the top. Citrus is the first hour and then it leaves. What decides the route is the base at hour three, so judge there. If you want warm instead of dry, the sandalwood route is the right one.

What anyone else makes of either route is theirs to say, and I will not guess. What I can tell you is what each is built from, and that one 3ml settles it.
No white musk blend exists as a product. As compositions, citrus is Adaa and Khayaal, sandalwood is Ameeri and Mastani. For less powder, SOSA Adaa at ₹379.
What to buy for the less powdery route
The product SOSA Adaa, the citrus-led composition with white musk in the base beside vetiver and cedarwood. Alcohol-free roll-on oil on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune, with no oudh. SOSA Khayaal if you want citrus with no musk at all.
The size to start on The 3ml of Adaa at ₹379. The 6ml at ₹669 and the 12ml at ₹1,149 are for after you have worn it through a season.
Dabs, and where One dab on the chest. The citrus is brightest in the first hour, so do not add a second dab to chase it. A single dab says very little and the second one does the talking.
At hour three The bergamot, cardamom and neroli have gone. What is left is white musk with vetiver and cedarwood, which is the part of the route that cuts the powder, and a little of the white flowers.
What it costs to stay on it Nothing more than that first 3ml, until the answer is in. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin. If dry reads too thin, the 3ml of Ameeri at ₹385 is the other route.
I would start you on the citrus route because it is the one that solves the problem you named. Sandalwood is a lovely second route, but it rounds powder rather than removing it. A 3ml and three ordinary days will tell you whether I am right for your skin.

Buy one 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379 for the citrus route: Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli on top, jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang in the heart, white musk, vetiver and cedarwood underneath. Alcohol-free, roll-on, hand-blended in Pune, no oudh. It is not a blend of white musk with citrus that you can buy as a product, because SOSA makes no white musk. It is a composition built that way.

The two routes, and the attars on each

Both routes are real, and they are different ideas. The citrus route puts the brightness at the start and the dryness at the end. The sandalwood route puts the warmth in the middle. All four attars are alcohol-free, DPG-free roll-on oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. Here is each on its route.

SOSA Adaa
The citrus route: bright start, dry white musk end
SOSA Adaa
₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml. Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four, no oudh. The white musk is held by two dry woods, and none of the four powder materials is listed, so the finish is dry.
From ₹379
SOSA Ameeri
The sandalwood route: white musk under a rich heart
SOSA Ameeri
₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml. Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. It carries some oudh and amber, so it is warmer and rounder than Adaa. Creamier, not drier, and the right second route if dry feels thin.
From ₹385
SOSA Mastani
Sandalwood, but with no white musk in the published base
SOSA Mastani · alcohol-free roll-on attar
₹389 for 3ml, ₹685 for 6ml, ₹1,179 for 12ml. Litchi, bergamot and pink pepper over night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose, on Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. It is on the sandalwood route and it is sweet and deep. Because no white musk is listed, it answers a different question and is named so you can rule it out.

What each route does to powder

None of these is a promise about your nose. Each is a structural reason, readable from the pyramid, that one route ends drier than the other, and one limit that applies to both.

1
One
Citrus does its work early and then steps aside
Bergamot is bright and leaves quickly. Neroli, which is orange blossom, adds a clean, slightly green lift, and green cardamom gives a cool spice that stops the top turning sweet. On the citrus route this is the first hour, and it tells your nose that the fragrance is clean. It does not remove powder from the musk underneath. That is a common mistake, because a bright start makes a whole fragrance seem dry when the finish may not be.
Tip: Do not judge the citrus route on its first five minutes. They are the least representative stage of the whole fragrance.
SOSA Adaa
Adaa at ₹379 opens with Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli, then lets the dry woods take over.
See SOSA Adaa →
2
Two
Sandalwood rounds the musk; it does not dry it
Sandalwood is smooth, milky and woody, and put with a white musk it makes the whole fragrance rounder and creamier. That is a good result if the thing you dislike is thinness. It is not a way of removing powder, because creaminess and powder often sit together happily. In Ameeri the Indian sandalwood is in the heart, over soft oudh, amber and white musk, so the route ends warm. All four attars sit on a sandalwood carrier, which is separate from the sandalwood named in the pyramid.
Tip: If creamy is a word you like, take the sandalwood route knowingly. If it is a word you dislike, take citrus.
SOSA Ameeri
Ameeri at ₹385 is the sandalwood route with white musk kept in the base. Warm and rich, not dry.
See SOSA Ameeri →
3
Three
The base decides it at hour three, whatever the top said
Whichever route you choose, the last stage is what you wear most of the day. Adaa's base is white musk with vetiver and cedarwood. Vetiver is earthy and green, cedarwood is dry and pencil-like, and together they keep the musk close and dry. Ameeri's base is soft oudh, amber and white musk, which is deeper and warmer. The routes are labelled by how they begin, and they should be judged by how they end.
Tip: Wear a 3ml on three ordinary days and write down what you smell at hour three, not at the start.
SOSA Mastani
Mastani at ₹389 ends on Mysore sandalwood, oudh, vanilla and tonka. A sweet base, and a different brief.
See SOSA Mastani →
The SOSA principle
A blend is chosen by how it begins and judged by how it ends. The citrus route and the sandalwood route start in different places, but the question for less powder is only ever what is in the base.
That is why the pyramid answers this before you smell anything. Look at the bottom row. Dry woods under the musk mean a dry finish; sandalwood and amber mean a round one.
SOSA Adaa
The citrus route, and the drier of the two: Adaa at ₹379: Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over three white flowers, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four attars, no oudh, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml.

Both routes compared attar by attar

The four compositions that sit on the two routes, set out side by side. Each row says whether white musk is actually in the bottle and what it does about powder, because two of the four are named here so you can rule out the one without it.

If you want the full case for why there is no white musk attar and where powder comes from, the opening page of this set says it first. For the causes of each finish, why some white musks smell powdery, airy, creamy or soapy takes them apart, and powderiness, soapiness, subtlety and budget narrows the whole set to a direction that exists. And if you would rather have one clear next step, tell us what bothered you in the last white musk you wore and we will answer in plain words.

Answer these two and the route chooses itself
What do you want the first hour to be?
  • Bright and citric, then quiet
  • Warm and woody from the start
Does white musk have to be in the bottle?
  • Yes, white musk in the base matters to me
  • No, I only want it less powdery
Bright and citric, and white musk in the bottle
SOSA Adaa. Bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. This is the citrus route with the musk kept. Start with the 3ml at ₹379, one dab, and judge it at hour three.
Bright and citric, and the musk is not essential
SOSA Khayaal, a perfume oil of sparkling bergamot, neroli, black tea and amberwood. Its published notes list no musk, so it avoids powder by leaving the musk out. It starts at ₹599 for 10ml.
Warm and woody, and white musk in the bottle
SOSA Ameeri. Indian sandalwood in the heart over soft oudh, amber and white musk. Rounder and creamier than Adaa, with some oudh. The 3ml at ₹385 is the way in.
Warm and woody, and the musk is not essential
SOSA Mastani. Mysore sandalwood in the base with oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka, under jasmine and Damask rose. Sweet and deep, and not a white musk. The 3ml is ₹389.
SOSA Ameeri
The sandalwood route, with white musk kept: Ameeri at ₹385 puts Indian sandalwood in the heart over soft oudh, amber and white musk. Warmer and creamier than Adaa, and the second route for a reader who finds dry thin.
Citrus or sandalwood: two honest routes
The fork is dry or round. Adaa is the citrus route, bright and then dry. Ameeri is the sandalwood route, with white musk under amber, warm and creamy. Pick the word you would use for the finish you want.

Sandalwood rounds a musk and citrus brightens it, and only the dry woods in the base actually take the powder away.

The SOSA specification for the two routes

Three rows. Adaa is the citrus route and my pick for less powder. Khayaal is citrus with no musk. Ameeri is the sandalwood route. The note underneath says what none of them is, and what to do if you wanted the blend as a product.

All three rows start small: the 3ml of Adaa at ₹379, the 10ml of Khayaal at ₹599, or the 3ml of Ameeri at ₹385. The larger sizes are for after a full season: ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml for Adaa, ₹599 for 10ml, ₹1,899 for 50ml, ₹3,599 for 100ml for Khayaal and ₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml for Ameeri. None of them is a white musk attar, because SOSA makes none; white musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab and never the subject. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin for the attars and nothing further; how long any fragrance lasts depends on skin, dose, clothing and the day. A patch test on first use is the only skin advice we give. A note from Sonal

When someone asks me whether to blend a musk with sandalwood or with citrus, they are usually asking a question about time. Citrus is the first hour, sandalwood is the middle, and the musk is what is left. So I ask which of those they dislike in their current bottle, and it is almost never the one they first say. A reader who says powdery is, more often than not, describing the end of the fragrance, not the start.

That is why I pick citrus for you, and it is a considered pick, not a default. The citrus route in Adaa is not dry because of the bergamot. It is dry because the base is white musk with vetiver and cedarwood, and because none of iris, heliotrope, violet or aldehydes is in the published pyramid. If you take the sandalwood route instead, that is a good choice, and I will say so, but it answers a different complaint. Rounder, creamier, warmer.

I should also say plainly that I am not selling you a blend of white musk with anything, because I do not make white musk to blend. I am selling you two compositions built the way you describe. One 3ml of Adaa, one dab, three ordinary days and a judgment at hour three. What anyone else makes of it is theirs to say, so the only measure is yours. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Why pick the citrus route for less powdery?
Because the citrus route I make is Adaa, whose base pairs white musk with vetiver and cedarwood, both dry woods, and whose published pyramid lists none of iris, heliotrope, violet or aldehydes. The citrus itself is only the first hour. It is the base that does the drying.
Is Khayaal a white musk with citrus?
No. SOSA Khayaal is a perfume oil of sparkling bergamot, neroli, black tea and amberwood, and its published notes list no musk. It is citrus-led and transparent, and it avoids powder by not having a musk, so it is a different answer, not a white musk blend. It starts at ₹599 for 10ml.
Does sandalwood make a white musk less powdery?
It makes it rounder and creamier, which is a different thing. Sandalwood is smooth and milky, and it sits comfortably with powder rather than removing it. SOSA Ameeri keeps white musk in the base under Indian sandalwood and amber, and the result is warm, not dry.
Is the sandalwood in the carrier the same as in the pyramid?
No. All four attars sit on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, and that is separate from the sandalwood named in a pyramid. When this page says sandalwood route it means the sandalwood listed in Ameeri's heart and Mastani's base, which is a composition choice.
Can I buy white musk blended with anything at all?
Not as a white musk product, because SOSA makes none. White musk is a base note in SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab, each blended with other things by design. If it is the musk itself you want, write to us first and we will say whether anything here comes close.
SOSA Nawaab
The attar to leave out of both routes: Nawaab at ₹399 has white musk in its base but is oud-led, with aged tobacco leaf, amber and leather. A fine attar and the deepest of the four, and neither a citrus nor a sandalwood route.
