What buyers ask us about hotel and spa scents
Including the questions where the answer is "we do not make that" and "you cannot put that on your skin"
"I want to smell like a luxury hotel lobby. What do I buy?"
Usually a clean white musk with soft woods. In our range that is Adaa. What we will not do is tell you it reproduces any particular hotel, because it does not and we have no authorisation to try.
Hotel-inspired scent · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Can I wear my reed diffuser oil as a perfume?"
No. Reed oil is assessed for evaporation from a reed in a room, not for leave-on skin application. They are different use cases with different exposure, and we will not sell you one as the other.
Home against skin · answered by Sonal Sahani
"You make a lavender reed diffuser. Do you make a lavender attar?"
No. Evening Calm is Himalayan lavender and chamomile for a room. We do not make a lavender attar, and rather than steer you to something that is not lavender, we will tell you that plainly.
What we do not make · answered by Sonal Sahani
"I want white tea and clean hotel linen on my skin."
We do not make that as an attar. Adaa is the closest thing we have, and it is citrus and jasmine sambac over white musk rather than a linen accord. If linen is the point, we are not your brand for it.
Clean linen · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Which hotel is the Hotel Collection based on?"
It is our own interpretation of a style of hospitality scenting. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel group, and it is an ultrasonic diffuser fragrance for rooms rather than a skin product.
Independence · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Will it last all day like my spray?"
We do not publish hour figures for any fragrance, because how long one seems to last depends on your skin, the weather and how quickly you stop noticing it. An oil-carried attar sits close rather than projecting.

Both are authentically the atmosphere you are describing, and they signal different halves of it. Soft floral-musk is the welcome: daytime, gracious, light on the air. Warm sandalwood is the ceremony: evening, deliberate, with weight behind it. Indian hospitality scenting does both, usually in different rooms and at different hours.
Quick answers — read this first
What does soft floral-musk signal? Welcome and daytime grace. Jasmine or rose held transparently over a clean musk reads as gracious and unimposing, which is what an entrance or a daytime space is going for.

What does warm sandalwood signal? Ceremony and evening. Sandalwood with saffron or a resin trace has weight and intention behind it, which suits dining rooms, evenings and occasions.

Which SOSA attar is which? Mastani at Rs 389 is the floral end, at full weight rather than transparent. Ameeri at Rs 385 sits between, with rose inside sandalwood. Nawaab at Rs 399 is the ceremonial end with oud and saffron.
The short answer
Short answer: Soft floral-musk signals welcome and daytime grace; warm sandalwood signals ceremony and evening. Both are authentic to Indian hospitality. In our range Mastani at Rs 389 is the floral end, Ameeri at Rs 385 sits between, and Nawaab at Rs 399 is the ceremonial end.
The honest limit: no fragrance we sell reproduces any hotel, spa, resort or retail brand's proprietary scent, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any of them. Where we do not make a family, we say so rather than recommending something adjacent.
Home is not skin: reed diffuser oil and the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance are assessed for room use and are not assessed or sold for application to skin. Attars and solid perfumes are the skin products.
Where a hotel-style scent actually lives - and what it is assessed forUltrasonic mist diffuser - water-based Hotel Collection fragrance, room useReed diffuser - its own alcohol-free reed oil, room useAttar or solid perfume - assessed for leave-on skinThe three do not interchangeA scent family can cross between them. A formulation cannot, because the exposure is different.
You can carry a scent family from a room to your skin. You cannot carry a formulation, because a product assessed for evaporating in a room has not been assessed for sitting on you. That distinction is the whole of this guide.
Straight answer
Floral-musk or warm sandalwood for an Indian hospitality feeling?
Both are right, and they are two different hours of the same day. Soft floral-musk is the welcome. Jasmine or rose held transparently over a clean musk reads as gracious and unimposing, which is exactly what an entrance or a daytime space wants: present enough to register, light enough not to impose on somebody arriving. It is the more wearable of the two for most people and the better choice if you want one fragrance for everyday. Warm sandalwood is the ceremony. Sandalwood with saffron or a resin trace has weight and intention, which suits dining rooms, evenings and occasions. It makes a statement, and in the right setting that statement is the point. Which of ours is which: Mastani at ₹389 is the floral end, though at full weight rather than transparent, so it is more statement than welcome. Ameeri at ₹385 sits between the two, with Taif rose inside Indian sandalwood, saffron and soft oudh, which makes it the most complete single answer to your question. Nawaab at ₹399 is the ceremonial end. If you want one, buy Ameeri. If you want the pair, Ameeri and Adaa split daytime and evening better than Ameeri and Nawaab do. +91 96192 18531.
Floral-musk is the welcome, sandalwood is the ceremony. Ameeri sits between them, which is why it is the single best answer.
If the brief is clean, quiet and expensive-feeling, the honest starting point in our range is Adaa at ₹379 for 3ml. If it is polished woods, Nawaab at ₹399.

What each one signals

There is a genuine cultural logic to this division and it is worth knowing, because it tells you something about when to wear what. Indian hospitality scenting, in its traditional forms, has always distinguished the threshold from the interior. The threshold is about welcome: flowers, often jasmine, often fresh rather than composed, light and immediate. The interior is about occasion: sandalwood, resin, sometimes incense, materials with weight and duration that mark a space as significant. Those are different gestures and they use different materials for structural reasons as well as symbolic ones. Flowers are immediate and fleeting, which suits a greeting. Woods and resins are slow and persistent, which suits an evening. When somebody says they want a fragrance inspired by premium Indian hospitality, they are usually remembering one or the other and have not separated them, which is why the question comes out as a choice between two things that both feel right. The practical test is to ask yourself what time of day your memory is set at. If it is arrival, daylight, a lobby or a courtyard, you want the floral end. If it is dinner, evening, a wedding or a celebration, you want the sandalwood end. That single question resolves it faster than any amount of note comparison, and it is also the question a good seller should ask you rather than reading you a list.

1
Threshold against interior
Welcome and occasion use different materials
Traditional Indian hospitality scenting distinguishes the threshold from the interior. The threshold is flowers, often jasmine, light and immediate, which suits a greeting. The interior is sandalwood, resin and sometimes incense, slow and persistent, which marks a space as significant. Those are different gestures using materials chosen for structural reasons as well as symbolic ones.
Tip: Ask yourself what time of day your memory is set at. Arrival and daylight means floral; dinner and evening means sandalwood.
2
Which is more wearable day to day
The floral-musk end, if transparent
A transparent floral over clean musk is the more wearable of the two for most people and the better single choice for everyday, because it registers without imposing. A full-weight floral is a different thing and makes a statement, which is why Mastani is more occasion than everyday despite being the floral option in our range.
3
If you want one rather than two
The composition that sits between them
Ameeri puts Taif rose inside Indian sandalwood with saffron and soft oudh, which means it carries both the floral welcome and the woody ceremony in one bottle. That makes it the most complete single answer to this brief. If you want a genuine pair, Ameeri and Adaa split daytime and evening better than Ameeri and Nawaab, which overlap.
Tip: The trio at ₹1,055 gives Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani at 3ml for ₹118 less than buying them singly.
The SOSA principle
Indian hospitality has always scented the threshold with flowers and the interior with wood. Those are different gestures, and most people remembering the atmosphere are remembering one of them.
So the useful question is not floral or sandalwood but what hour of the day your memory is set at.

Which of ours is which

Our range mapped onto the two ends. Ameeri at ₹385 is the answer if you want one bottle, because it holds both: rose for the welcome, sandalwood and saffron for the ceremony. Mastani at ₹389 is the floral option and it is at full weight, so treat it as an occasion floral rather than a daytime one. Nawaab at ₹399 is the ceremonial option, with white royal oud leading. Adaa at ₹379 is not in this tradition at all, being clean and citrus-led, and it is the better daytime partner to Ameeri precisely because it does not overlap. Among solids, Lust at ₹479 has soft florals over a warm skin musk, which is the closest our solid range comes to a transparent floral-musk.

What SOSA actually makes

Every SOSA attar and solid perfume is alcohol-free and assessed for leave-on skin application. Our reed diffusers and the Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance are home products and are not assessed for skin. Here is the range with the honest description of each, including the families we do not make at all.

What we actually make, and what each one is for
One genuinely clean attar, two woody ones, two musk-based solids, and a room fragrance that is not for skin
Product Where it sits What it is, honestly From
Adaa attar 3ml The clean one · closest to a hotel lobby Bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and a white musk accord. The only genuinely clean, airy composition in our attar range, and the honest answer to most hotel-inspired requests ₹379
Nawaab attar 3ml Polished woods · expensive interiors White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron. For wooden-interior and quiet-luxury requests rather than clean-linen ones ₹399
Ameeri attar 3ml Warm sandalwood · heritage hospitality Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, saffron and soft oudh. Rose inside a warm resinous structure, closest to a grand Indian hotel atmosphere ₹385
Velour solid 15g White musk base · skin-close Toasted almond and whipped cream over a white musk base. Soft and skin-close, and sweeter than a hotel-clean scent, which we would rather say than imply ₹479
Sterling solid 15g Powdered musk · refined Almond nougat and white amber over powdered musk. Refined and velvety, and genuinely powdery, so not for anyone who has told us they dislike powder ₹469
Hotel Collection 15ml Rooms only · never skin Water-based fragrance for ultrasonic mist diffusers. Our own interpretation of hospitality scenting, for air rather than for people ₹299

Attars come in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml: Adaa ₹379 / ₹669 / ₹1,149; Ameeri ₹385 / ₹679 / ₹1,165; Mastani ₹389 / ₹685 / ₹1,179; Nawaab ₹399 / ₹699 / ₹1,199; the three-attar trio ₹1,055 / ₹1,859 / ₹3,189 against ₹1,173 / ₹2,063 / ₹3,543 bought singly. Solid body perfumes are 15g, alcohol-free, from ₹459. What we do not make as a skin fragrance: white tea, clean linen or cotton musk, lavender, vetiver, cedarwood, aquatic or marine, and pine. Several of those exist in our home range and are not assessed for skin. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

"I want to smell like a five-star hotel" is one of my favourite things a customer can say, because it tells me far more than a note list would. It tells me you want clean rather than sweet, quiet rather than loud, and expensive-feeling rather than obviously perfumed. That is a brief I can work with.

It also comes with two things I have to be straight with you about. The first is that I cannot sell you a hotel's scent. Those are proprietary compositions made for specific groups, and anybody offering you a reproduction is either guessing or doing something they should not. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel group. What I can do is work in the same fragrance families and say so honestly.

The second is harder on my own sales. Our home fragrances are not for your skin. Reed oil is assessed for evaporating from a reed in a room. The Hotel Collection is a water-based fragrance for an ultrasonic mist diffuser. Neither has been assessed for leave-on application to a person, and the exposure is completely different. I will not sell you one as the other, however much you like how it smells in your hallway.

And there are things we simply do not make. No lavender attar. No vetiver attar. No white tea, no clean linen, no cedarwood, no aquatic. Several of those scents live in our reed diffusers and stay there. If that is what you came for, I would rather tell you than sell you something adjacent and hope you do not notice. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

What does a soft floral-musk signal?
Welcome and daytime grace. Jasmine or rose held transparently over a clean musk reads as gracious and unimposing, which is what an entrance or a daytime space wants: present enough to register, light enough not to impose on somebody arriving.
What does a warm sandalwood signal?
Ceremony and evening. Sandalwood with saffron or a resin trace carries weight and intention, which suits dining rooms, evenings and occasions. It makes a statement, and in the right setting that statement is the point.
How do I decide between them?
Ask what hour of the day your memory is set at. Arrival, daylight, a lobby or a courtyard points to the floral end. Dinner, evening, a wedding or a celebration points to the sandalwood end. That resolves it faster than comparing notes.
Which SOSA attar holds both?
Ameeri at Rs 385, which puts Taif rose inside Indian sandalwood with saffron and soft oudh. It carries the floral welcome and the woody ceremony in one bottle, which makes it the most complete single answer to this brief.
If I want two, which pair works best?
Ameeri and Adaa, rather than Ameeri and Nawaab. Adaa at Rs 379 is clean and citrus-led, so it does not overlap with Ameeri, whereas Nawaab covers similar ground more loudly. The pair splits daytime and evening properly.

Formulation and use: SOSA attars are formulated with an oil carrier and no added ethanol, contain no intentionally added DEP, and are assessed as leave-on fine fragrance applied to skin at their actual selling concentration. Supplier IFRA conformity statements, declarable-allergen lists and the finished-product safety assessment are available per product on WhatsApp on +91 96192 18531; formula compositions and percentages are not disclosed. Reed diffuser oil and the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance are assessed for room use and are not assessed or sold for application to skin. SOSA does not describe its products as chemical-free, hypoallergenic or safe for everyone, publishes no longevity or hour figures, and makes no claim to reproduce any hotel, spa, resort or retail brand's proprietary fragrance.
