Neither of your two choices is a bottle on my shelf. There is no skin-musk attar and no light sandalwood composition, and I would rather say so in the first line than in the last. What exists are two bases inside other fragrances, and choosing between them is a better question than the one you asked.
Quick answers — read this first
Does SOSA make a skin musk attar? No. White musk is a base note in SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab, never the subject. SOSA makes no musk soliflore of any kind. The nearest is Adaa, from ₹379 for 3ml, where musk sits under vetiver and cedarwood.
Does SOSA make a light sandalwood attar? Not on its own. Indian sandalwood is in the heart of SOSA Ameeri under Taif rose; Mysore sandalwood is in the base of SOSA Mastani. Every attar also sits on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, which is a base, not a scent claim.
Which suits a professional everyday fragrance? Adaa, if you want dry and close. Ameeri, if you want soft and creamy and accept rose and a little soft oudh beneath. Start either on a 3ml and judge it at hour three on an ordinary workday.
The short answer
Short answer: Neither exists on its own. Skin musk is a base note and sandalwood is a heart or base note, both inside other pyramids. The real choice is dry against creamy.
The pick: One 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379 for dry, or one 3ml of SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 for creamy. One dab, judged at hour three.
Next step: Tell us your dress code and which note you disliked in the past, and we will say which of the two fits, or whether neither does. Ask for an attar recommendation.
The two phrases in your title, and where each one actually sits in the range. The first two lines are the gap, the third is the choice that replaces your question, and the last two are the 3ml entry prices.
Adaa for the musk side, then Ameeri for the sandalwood side
Should I Choose a Skin Musk Attar or a Light Sandalwood Composition for a Professional Everyday Fragrance?
You are choosing between two things that SOSA does not sell as separate fragrances, so the first job is to say where each one actually is. The second is to turn the choice into one you can make on a pyramid. Five steps.
1. Skin musk is a base note here, not a bottle. White musk sits in the base of SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab. SOSA makes no white musk attar and no musk soliflore, so a page that sends you to a musk-only fragrance from us would be sending you somewhere that does not exist.
2. Light sandalwood is a note inside other pyramids. Indian sandalwood is in Ameeri's heart, Mysore sandalwood is in Mastani's base and in Nawaab's top. SOSA makes no sandalwood-only composition, and none of the three is light in the way a single-note woody would be.
3. Replace the question with dry against creamy. Musk with vetiver and cedarwood reads dry. Sandalwood under rose reads soft and creamy. That is the difference you will notice at hour three, and it is a better basis for a decision than either word in your title.
4. For a professional everyday wear, start dry.SOSA Adaa at ₹379 has bergamot, green cardamom and neroli on top, three white flowers in the middle and a dry base, with no oudh. If cedarwood is a note you dislike, take SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 instead and read its warmer pyramid honestly.
5. Test the choice on your own workday. A 3ml, one dab, three ordinary days and a judgement at hour three. What your workplace counts as professional is yours to know; I can tell you what each pyramid is made of and nothing more.
What counts as professional depends on your office, not on my catalogue. I will not tell you how a fragrance will be received, because I cannot know. I can tell you what is in the bottle, which row of the pyramid you will be wearing at hour three, and that the entry price is small.
Neither exists alone: musk and sandalwood are notes inside other attars. The choice is dry SOSA Adaa at ₹379 or creamy SOSA Ameeri at ₹385. The 3ml, one dab on skin, judged three hours later.
What to buy for a professional everyday fragrance
The product
SOSA Adaa for the dry reading, where white musk sits under vetiver and cedarwood and there is no oudh. SOSA Ameeri only if you want creamy and accept rose and soft oudh in the same pyramid.
The size to start on
The 3ml: ₹379 for Adaa, ₹385 for Ameeri. Neither needs a second size until the 3ml has run low and you notice you have been rationing it.
Dabs, and where
One dab, on the chest under a collar, before you leave. Keep the place the same for all three days so that dry against creamy is the only thing that changes.
At hour three
Adaa has thinned to white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. Ameeri has moved to Indian sandalwood with amber and white musk beneath, and a little soft oudh. Dry in one case, rounder in the other.
What it costs to stay on it
The 6ml of Adaa is ₹669 and the 12ml is ₹1,149; Ameeri's are ₹679 and ₹1,165. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin for each, with no top-up needed.
If you made me choose for a general office, I would say Adaa, because its base is the quieter of the two. If cedarwood is the note you cannot stand, or you simply want sandalwood, Ameeri is the honest alternative and I would rather you ordered it than settled for the wrong one.
Buy one 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379 for the dry reading: Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli on top, jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang in the heart, white musk, vetiver and cedarwood underneath. An alcohol-free roll-on oil, hand-blended in Pune, with no oudh. Apply one dab on the chest and judge it at hour three on an ordinary workday.
All four SOSA attars are alcohol-free, DPG-free roll-on oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. That carrier is an ingredient fact, not a promise about scent. The two phrases in your title live higher up in the pyramids, and the cards below put each one where it belongs.
₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml. Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. White musk is the floor, not the headline, and the two dry woods are why that floor reads as skin. No oudh, no amber, no vanilla.
₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml. Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. Sandalwood is in the heart, not the base, and it shares the pyramid with rose and a trace of oudh. Creamy, and not a minimal one.
₹389 for 3ml, ₹685 for 6ml, ₹1,179 for 12ml. Litchi, bergamot and pink pepper over night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose, on Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. Sandalwood is in the base, under vanilla and tonka. A deep floral-gourmand, and not what anyone means by a light sandalwood.
Dry against creamy: the choice under your two words
Musk and sandalwood each lean one way, and the way they lean is what you will feel at hour three. These three cards take the idea in order: where the musk is, where the sandalwood is, and the quiet difference between them.
1
One
Musk is a floor in three attars and the subject of none
White musk appears in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab, and in each it sits in the base. That placement is the whole story of why the phrase skin musk is hard to buy. A musk-led fragrance reads as skin when little else is on top of it, and SOSA does not make that fragrance. What it makes is musk underneath other things. In Adaa the other things are vetiver and cedarwood, which are dry. In Ameeri they are amber and soft oudh, which are warm.
Tip: Read the note after musk, not the word musk. Dry woods keep it skin-like; amber and oudh turn it into perfume.
Adaa at ₹379 has the dry reading of musk. It is the nearest to skin musk in the range, and it is still not musk on its own.
Sandalwood is a heart or base note, and always has company
Indian sandalwood sits in the heart of Ameeri, below saffron and above amber. Mysore sandalwood sits in the base of Mastani and in the top of Nawaab. In perfumery, sandalwood is usually described as soft, milky and woody, and each of these pyramids lets you check that against what surrounds it. None of the three is a sandalwood alone, and none is the pale, single-note version the phrase light sandalwood implies. Ameeri is the closest to it.
Tip: Count what shares the pyramid with the sandalwood. If it is rose and amber, expect warm; if it is vanilla, expect sweet.
Ameeri at ₹385 lets the sandalwood lead the heart. It also carries rose, amber and a little soft oudh, so it is rounder than a light reading implies.
The real choice is how the base finishes, dry or creamy
If you put musk-with-woods next to sandalwood-with-rose, the difference is not strength. It is texture. Vetiver and cedarwood are dry, almost pencil-like, and they stop the musk turning soft. Indian sandalwood with rose and amber is rounder and slower. Neither is right for an office as such. A reader who dresses in crisp cotton shirts may like the first; one who prefers knitwear may like the second. That is taste, and it is yours to settle.
Tip: If you dislike cedarwood, skip Adaa; it is in the base. Ameeri has none.
Nawaab at ₹399 has Mysore sandalwood too, but beside white royal oud and aged tobacco leaf. Not the creamy option, and not an everyday one.
When a title offers two notes as rivals, the useful move is to ask what each one does to the base. Musk makes a floor, sandalwood makes a texture, and what sits beside them decides whether the result is dry or creamy.
That is why the pyramid answers this before you smell anything. Read the base first and the neighbours second, and the two words in your title turn into a decision about texture, which is something you can check on a 3ml.
The dry reading, and the one I start people on: Adaa at ₹379: Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over three white flowers, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four attars, with no oudh at all, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml.
Skip the two phrases in your title and look at the word you would use to describe the base you want. The table below takes four of them and says plainly what SOSA has for each, including the one row where the answer is nothing.
The SOSA plan
Four words for a base, and what SOSA has behind each
The word you would use for the base
What SOSA has, said plainly
Dry: skin-like, with a pencil-shaving edge
SOSA Adaa at ₹379. White musk with vetiver and cedarwood under a bright bergamot, cardamom and neroli opening. No oudh. View →
Creamy: soft, rounded, warm wood
SOSA Ameeri at ₹385. Indian sandalwood in the heart over amber, soft oudh and white musk, with Taif rose in the same pyramid. View →
Pale: sandalwood and nothing else
SOSA does not make this. No sandalwood-only composition exists, and every attar's sandalwood carrier is a base, not a scent claim.
Sweet: vanilla, tonka, a gourmand finish
SOSA Mastani at ₹389, with Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. Far from either word in your title, so a different search. View →
Is rose, with a trace of soft oudh underneath, acceptable?
Yes, either is fine
No, I would rather have neither
Dry, and either answer on rose
SOSA Adaa is white musk with vetiver and cedarwood, and it has no oudh at all. Start with the 3ml at ₹379, one dab, judged at hour three on an ordinary workday.
This is where the range runs out: SOSA makes no sandalwood without company. Adaa at hour three is the closest to a clean wood-and-musk base, and a 3ml at ₹379 will show whether it is near enough. If not, write to us before buying anything else.
The creamy reading, if sandalwood is the point: Ameeri at ₹385: Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot, then Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, then soft oudh, amber and white musk. Rounder than Adaa, and carrying a little oudh.
The fork is dry or creamy. Adaa is white musk with vetiver and cedarwood, and Ameeri is Indian sandalwood with rose, amber and soft oudh. Pick the word you would miss least at hour three.
Two rows, because the honest answer is two bottles and not one. Adaa answers dry. Ameeri answers creamy. The note under the table says what the range does not hold and what to do if your picture was something paler.
The SOSA specification for professional everyday wear
Both rows start on the 3ml: ₹379 for Adaa and ₹385 for Ameeri. If either stays, ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml and ₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml show the full ladder. Neither is a musk-only fragrance, because SOSA makes none; white musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab and never the subject. Neither is a pale single-note sandalwood, because SOSA makes no such composition either. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin for the attars and nothing further; how long any fragrance lasts depends on skin, dose, clothing and the day. A patch test on first use is the only skin advice we give. What your office counts as professional is for you to know, and how a scent is received is not something I can forecast. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies: Ask for an attar recommendation and tell us which note you cannot wear.

ISIPCA Versailles
A note from Sonal
I trained to think of a fragrance as a building. Musk is a floor, sandalwood is a wall, and the question I ask anyone buying for daily wear is not which note they like but which one they are comfortable standing on for a week. People come to me with skin musk in one hand and light sandalwood in the other and expect me to rank them. They are not the same kind of thing, and ranking them would be a trick.
The awkward truth is that I make neither on its own. White musk lives in the base of three of my attars and is the headline of none. Sandalwood is in the heart of one and the base of two, each with company. Every attar also sits on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, which is simply what the oil is made on. I would rather say that plainly than let you order something expecting a pale single note and find rose in it.
So the advice is to choose a texture. If dry sounds right, buy the 3ml of Adaa and wear one dab on three ordinary workdays. If creamy sounds right, buy the 3ml of Ameeri and do the same. Read what it has become at hour three, and decide with your own nose and your own dress code. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a skin musk attar in the SOSA range?
No. White musk is a base note in SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab, and SOSA makes no musk soliflore. The nearest to a skin-like musk is Adaa, where the musk sits under vetiver and cedarwood. That is a musk-led base, not a musk-only fragrance.
Is there a light sandalwood attar?
Not as a single-note composition. SOSA Ameeri has Indian sandalwood in its heart, SOSA Mastani has Mysore sandalwood in its base, and SOSA Nawaab has it in the top beside oud. Each has other notes around it, so none is a pale sandalwood by itself.
Which is better for a professional setting, Adaa or Ameeri?
Neither is better in general. Adaa's base is the quieter of the two and has no oudh; Ameeri is rounder and carries a little. Your workplace sets the standard, and I cannot know it, so start with a 3ml and judge at hour three on a real workday.
Does the sandalwood carrier make every attar smell of sandalwood?
I make no such claim. The carrier is an ingredient fact: every SOSA attar is an alcohol-free, DPG-free oil on a sandalwood and jojoba base. What you smell is the published pyramid, and Adaa's pyramid contains no sandalwood note.
What if I choose the wrong one?
Then you have spent the price of a 3ml, ₹379 or ₹385, and learned which texture is yours. Tell us what you smelled at hour one and hour three, and we will say whether the other attar is the better try or whether the range does not hold what you want.
The attar to leave off this particular list: Mastani at ₹389 puts Mysore sandalwood in the base with oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. A deep floral-gourmand and a different brief from professional everyday wear.
