Founder Diaries · Reed Diffuser & Home Fragrance Gifting
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles11 min readUpdated September 2026
It can become a standard reward, and the reason has nothing to do with fragrance. It is that one object above one number is a rule a service advisor can follow at your fourth centre on a Wednesday with no manager in the building. Start with the honest part, though, because you used the word loyalty and it is worth putting down: a ₹449 object does not create loyalty, and no fragrance house can tell you it will. What it can be is the same small gesture at all five sites, every time, without cutting a price. That is a real operational property. Loyalty is not one you can buy.
The one most people describe as clean rather than scented, which is a useful register at a service handover. SOSA Icy Mint hanging car perfume, ₹489 for 12ml - mild scent-throw, and sold as a stronger spray at exactly the same ₹489, so format is a choice about throw and never about budget.
Quick answers — read this first
Can hanging car perfumes work as a standard reward above an invoice value? Yes, because the rule is simple enough to survive five sites: one invoice value, one object, no judgement. SOSA hanging car perfumes are ₹449 to ₹509 at published retail, need no explanation at handover and cost the same in the mild hanging or stronger spray format. What they cannot do is create loyalty, and no supplier should tell you otherwise.
Should the reward be tiered by invoice value? Across five centres, no. Every tier is a boundary and every boundary is a place where two branches will decide differently. A single number and a single object gives you the one thing multi-site gifting actually needs, which is that a customer who uses two of your centres gets the same answer at both.
What happens when one branch gives more than the rule? The rule stops being true everywhere else, which is expensive in a way that does not appear on that branch's numbers. A generous exception at one site turns the standard gift at the other four into something that looks withheld. This is the main reason to keep the reward flat and the number visible to everyone.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes, as a consistent gesture rather than a loyalty mechanism. One invoice value and one object is a rule five service centres can apply identically. SOSA hanging car perfumes are Rs 449 to Rs 509 at published retail prices and the mild hanging and stronger spray cost the same. No bulk rate or minimum is published.
The pick: One mild hanging from ₹449, above one invoice value, identical at all five centres, with no tiers and no local exceptions.
Why: A flat rule is the only kind that stays the same across sites run by different people on different days, and consistency is the part of this you can actually control.
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
Can hanging car perfumes become a standard reward above an invoice value across five service centres?
Yes, and the multi-site part is the whole difficulty. A gifting rule at one centre is a decision; the same rule at five is a system, and systems fail at their edges. The design that holds is the dullest one: one invoice value, one object, no tiers, no local discretion. A service advisor at any of the five should be able to apply it without calling anybody, and a customer who uses two of your centres should get the same answer at both. Published prices are Jasmine ₹449, Sandalwood and Lavender ₹479, Icy Mint ₹489, Lemon ₹499, and Oud, Sea Breeze and Vetiver ₹509. Now the limits. SOSA publishes no bulk rate, no minimum order quantity, no slab, no lead time and no recurring-supply arrangement, so how quantities reach five sites is your own arithmetic plus a conversation on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. And the word in your question deserves a straight answer: this is not a loyalty programme and nobody can promise it behaves like one. It is a consistent, inexpensive gesture that does not touch your pricing, which is a good enough reason on its own. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The question that decides this is not what should we give. It is can an advisor at the fourth centre apply the rule without asking anybody. If not, the rule is wrong however good the gift is.
The multi-site default: one mild hanging from ₹449, one invoice value, five centres, no exceptions. Same price as the stronger spray.
Why one flat rule survives five sites and a tiered one does not
Five centres is the point where a gifting idea becomes an operations question. Three things decide whether the rule is still intact a year from now, and the first one is the one most groups get wrong on day one.
1
The first decision
One number and one object, or tiers by invoice value?
Tiering looks fairer on paper. A customer spending three times as much gets something better, the gesture scales with the bill, everybody nods. Then you put it into five buildings and watch what happens.
Every tier boundary is a judgement, and every judgement is a place where two sites diverge. A bill that lands just under a boundary gets rounded up at one centre and not at another. An advisor at a quiet branch is more willing to be generous than an advisor at a busy one. Within a few months you do not have a tiered reward, you have five slightly different rewards, and the first customer who mentions one centre at another has found the hole. A flat rule has no boundaries to argue about, which is the only reason it survives.
There is also a product reason the tiers would be thin anyway. The entire hanging range sits between ₹449 and ₹509, a ₹60 spread, so you cannot build meaningful tiers out of scents - you would have to change the object to a combo at ₹899 or a 50ml spray at ₹1,499, and now your advisors are managing three things instead of one. Flat is not a compromise here. It is the design.
Tip: One number, one object, no exceptions. Everything else is a rule five sites will interpret five ways.
2
The second decision
What to do about the branch that decides to be generous
It always happens and it never looks like a problem when it does. A manager at one centre gives the gift slightly below the invoice value to a customer who was unhappy, or gives two to somebody who brought in a second car. Nothing about that is unreasonable. It is an experienced person using judgement, which is what you hired them for.
The cost lands somewhere else entirely. The moment one site is more generous, the standard gift at the other four stops reading as a gift and starts reading as the minimum. The rule was the only thing giving the gesture meaning, because the gesture itself is small; once the rule is soft, you are left with a ₹479 bottle and no story about why this customer got one.
The practical fix is not to forbid judgement, which never works. It is to keep the rule so simple that departing from it is visible. One number, published internally, same at every centre. If a manager wants to give something to an unhappy customer, that is a separate decision with a separate name and it should not come out of the same tin. Keeping those two things apart is most of the discipline this needs.
3
The third decision
How many scents five centres should run between them
The instinct is to let each centre choose, or to offer the customer a choice at the counter. Both are more expensive than they look. Every additional variant is something each of five sites has to hold, reorder and keep track of separately, and a choice at the counter turns a thirty-second gesture into a conversation while the next customer waits.
One scent across all five is the simplest thing that can possibly work and it is a defensible answer. Two is the usual compromise: Lemon at ₹499 and Icy Mint at ₹489 are the least likely to be disliked by somebody who did not pick them, and they are different enough that carrying both is not pointless. Keep Oud at ₹509 out of a standard programme - it has the strongest character in the range, which makes it the wrong default for a customer you have not asked.
On getting the things to five places: SOSA publishes no recurring-supply programme, no branch allocation service, no lead time and no minimum order quantity. How often you reorder and whether one site holds for all five is entirely your own planning, and the honest route for the commercial side is WhatsApp rather than a page.
Tip: One or two scents across all five, never a choice at the counter.
The decision this whole category turns on
Hanging or spray is a scent-throw choice, not a budget choice
Every SOSA car scent is sold in two formats at the same price: the hanging is the mild scent-throw, the spray is the stronger one. Jasmine is ₹449 either way, Lemon ₹499 either way, Oud ₹509 either way. So the question is never which one you can afford - it is who controls the dose. Hand a car to somebody whose taste you have never asked about and the mild hanging is the safer object, because a person who finds a sealed car too loud cannot turn a scent down, only take it out.
Set one invoice value and one object. No tiers, no rounding, no local exceptions.
Publish the number internally so a departure from it is visible, not invisible.
Run one or two scents across all five sites, never a choice at the counter.
Do your own arithmetic on the Rs 449 to Rs 509 list, then ask on WhatsApp.
The SOSA principle
The value of a small standard gift is almost entirely in the word standard. Take the consistency away and you are left with a Rs 479 bottle and no reason why this particular customer got one.
Which is why the interesting work here is writing a rule that five different buildings apply identically, not choosing between eight fragrances.
How many scents five centres can sensibly run between them
Eight scents exist in the hanging format, inside a ₹60 band, so the choice is character and not cost. Jasmine ₹449 is the softest and the lowest-priced. Sandalwood and Lavender ₹479 read as considered rather than functional. Icy Mint ₹489 is the sharpest and the one most people describe as clean, which is a useful register at a service handover. Lemon ₹499 is the workhorse citrus and the easiest thing to give somebody who did not choose it. Oud, Sea Breeze and Vetiver ₹509 carry the most character and are therefore the riskiest defaults. Mysore Orange Blossom ₹549 is a spray only with no hanging format, so it cannot be the standard object in a programme built on hangings.
The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to reward above an invoice value, scored on surviving five sites
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
A hanging car perfume · ₹449 to ₹509
Fixed cost, no effect on your pricing, nothing to explain and nothing for the customer to redeem. It travels well between sites because there is only one of it. It fails when branches start carrying different scents, and it fails faster when one site begins giving it below the agreed invoice value.
A percentage off the next invoice · the pricing option
The thing you specifically said you did not want, and the reasons are sound: it teaches the customer what your list price really is, it is claimed unevenly, and it costs you most on exactly the jobs you would rather not discount. It also gives five sites five ways to apply it.
A complimentary small job · the labour option
Genuinely valuable and genuinely difficult across sites, because its cost is bay time and bay time is not equally available at five centres. A quiet branch gives it easily, a busy branch resents it, and the reward the customer receives depends on which building they happened to visit.
Points on a card or an app · the deferred option
Consistent by design, which is its real advantage, and slow by design, which is its problem. Nothing happens to the customer today. It also creates an administrative object that has to be maintained, explained at five counters and honoured later, which is a larger commitment than a bottle.
What happens after the gift
The 15ml refill is bigger than the 12ml bottle and costs less than a new unit
Refills run ₹399 for Lemon and Jasmine, ₹429 for Sandalwood, Lavender and Icy Mint, and ₹449 for Sea Breeze, Vetiver and Oud - against ₹449 to ₹509 for the unit itself. This matters for one honest reason and not the flattering one: a gift that can be continued without being sold to is a different object from a gift that simply runs out. Whether anybody continues it is up to them, and no supplier can promise you they will.
One mechanism worth knowing, stated as a mechanism and nothing more. SOSA publishes 15ml refills at ₹399 for Lemon and Jasmine, ₹429 for Sandalwood, Lavender and Icy Mint, and ₹449 for Sea Breeze, Vetiver and Oud. The refill is larger than the 12ml bottle it refills and costs less than buying the unit again, and it fits the hanging format rather than the spray. So a customer who liked the one you gave has a cheaper way to continue it without anybody at your counter selling anything. That is the full extent of the claim: a product with somewhere to go next. It is not a loyalty mechanism, it does not create repeat visits to your centres, and whether any individual does it is not knowable by you or by a supplier.
The lowest-priced hanging in the range at ₹449, and the reason most per-car budgets get built around this number. Available as the mild hanging or the stronger spray at the same ₹449.
Eight scents from ₹399. The refill is 15ml against the 12ml bottle it refills, and costs less than buying the unit again - so the person who was given one can carry on without being sold to.
Three sprays from ₹699, or all nine at ₹2,999. The honest answer when the recipient's taste is genuinely unknown: let them find out rather than guessing on their behalf.
from ₹699
When one particular car is not part of the programme
SOSA Safar ₹3,999 for a car, SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 for the building it is parked at
Safar is the waterless, cordless, rechargeable cold-diffusion perfume diffuser for a car or a travel bag - ₹3,999 for the SOSA-scent trios and ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios. It is not a volume gift and should not be described as one; it is what a business reaches for when a single handover genuinely warrants it. Vaayu is the same waterless idea sized for a building: cold-air nebulising of undiluted oil, rated for approximately 1000 m3 of connected air, with a Bluetooth app and timer, a 400ml tank, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, DC 12V / 1A 5W mains power and CE, RoHS and SGS marks - which makes it a showroom or workshop question rather than a gifting one. Both run waterless nebuliser oil at ₹1,049 for 100 gm and ₹1,849 for 300 gm, and neither takes the ₹299 water-based Hotel Collection bottle. No runtime, battery life or coverage figure is published for Safar. Both add a scent to a space; neither removes one.
Tell SOSA who it is for, roughly how big the room is, whether their home is already scented and what you want to spend - and you will be told which size and which scent, including the times the honest answer is the 50ml rather than the 130ml.
You cannot buy loyalty for ₹479 and you should be suspicious of anybody who says you can. What ₹479 buys across five centres is consistency, which is smaller, duller and entirely real.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA
The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.

Every price above is the published retail price on the live SOSA product page, which is what any business should build its own arithmetic on. SOSA does not publish a bulk rate, a minimum order quantity, a slab, a dispatch window or any commercial term, and nothing on this page should be read as one. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; quantities and everything commercial are settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 rather than priced on a page. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune and sends orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The honest price sheet
What SOSA publishes, and what SOSA does not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The same scents as sprays, at the same price. Hanging is the mild scent-throw, spray is the stronger one, and they cost the same - so the choice is about who controls the dose, not about money. Mysore Orange Blossom ₹549 is a spray only and has no hanging format.
Combos and sets - two-scent combos ₹899 to ₹949, the Discovery Set of three sprays ₹699 to ₹899, all nine sprays ₹2,999, and 50ml sprays ₹1,499. SOSA Safar ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios.
Duration - the only car product publishing a figure is Mysore Orange Blossom: 10ml is about 100 sprays lasting about 3 months, 50ml is about 500 sprays lasting about a year or more. Those numbers belong to that spray and to nothing else. No duration is published for the hanging format.
Not published, and therefore never stated here: any bulk rate, minimum order quantity, slab or volume discount; any dispatch, delivery or cut-off timing; any payment, invoicing or credit term; case packs, carton sizes or unit weights; any claim that a gift will change a customer's behaviour, a survey score or a repeat rate; and any claim that a fragrance removes, neutralises or purifies anything. Those go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
Buying for a business rather than for one person? Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 four things: roughly how many vehicles or people a month, whether the recipient chooses the scent or you do, whether you want the mild hanging or the stronger spray, and whether the label needs to carry your logo. You will get one straight answer rather than a catalogue. What is not on this page, because SOSA does not publish it: any bulk rate, any minimum order quantity, any slab or volume discount, any dispatch or delivery timing, and any payment or invoicing term. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available - that is the whole of the branding offer, and there is no custom box, printed sleeve, insert card, gift wrap or hamper. There is no dealer, partner or reseller programme; everything commercial is a conversation on WhatsApp. Bespoke composition, a fragrance composed for you by Sonal, is a real SOSA service and is also discussed there. Where SOSA is: SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune and sends orders across India. There is no SOSA shop, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city, so anything here about Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mysuru or anywhere else is about the businesses and the cars in those cities and not about a local branch.

ISIPCA Versailles
A note from Sonal
The businesses that write to SOSA about car fragrance almost never open with a question about fragrance. They open with a question about a drawer. Somebody ordered five hundred of something last year, and most of it is still sitting in a drawer at the back of the showroom, and nobody wants to repeat that.
What makes a car product different from the keychain and the diary is not that it is nicer. It is that there is nowhere to put it away. A hanging perfume is hanging. It is not in a bag to be taken home and forgotten; it is in the one enclosed space the person is going to sit in tomorrow morning. That is an argument about geometry rather than about generosity, and it is the only argument for this category I am willing to make.
The thing I would push back on hardest is the instinct to buy the strongest one. When you are choosing on somebody else's behalf, and you will never meet most of them, the mild hanging is the correct choice and it costs exactly the same as the spray. A person who finds a scent too loud in a sealed car cannot turn it down; they can only take it out. Quiet is what lets a gift survive contact with a stranger's taste.
And the part I will not pretend about: I cannot tell you this will bring anyone back. No fragrance house can honestly tell a business what a gift will do to its numbers. What I can tell you is what the product is, what it costs, and what happens when somebody likes it enough to buy the refill themselves - which is the only loyalty any of us actually earns.
Frequently asked questions
Can hanging car perfumes work as a standard reward above an invoice value?
Yes, as a consistent gesture. The design that survives five sites is one invoice value, one object and no tiers, so any advisor can apply it without asking a manager. SOSA hanging car perfumes are Rs 449 to Rs 509 at published retail prices and need nothing explained at handover.
Should we tier the reward by how much the customer spent?
Across five centres, no. Every tier boundary is a judgement call and every judgement call is a place where two branches decide differently. The hanging range also sits inside a Rs 60 band, so tiers would mean changing the object to a combo at Rs 899 to Rs 949 or a 50ml spray at Rs 1,499, and now your advisors manage three things instead of one.
Does a gift like this create customer loyalty?
No, and nobody honest will tell you it does. A fragrance house sells fragrance, not behaviour. What a standard gift gives you is a consistent, inexpensive gesture that does not touch your pricing and is the same at every centre. That is worth having on its own terms and does not need a claim attached to it.
How many scents should five service centres carry?
One or two across all five, and never a choice at the counter. Every extra variant is something five sites have to hold and reorder separately, and offering a choice turns a thirty-second gesture into a conversation. Lemon at Rs 499 and Icy Mint at Rs 489 are the least likely to be disliked by somebody who did not pick them.
Does anything change when the quantity goes up across five sites?
Nothing that a page can print. There is no published bulk rate, no minimum order quantity, no slab, no lead time and no recurring-supply arrangement, so anything about quantity, timing or branch allocation is settled directly. Bulk orders are welcome and a custom label or logo on product is available. Message SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
