Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 11 min read Updated September 2026
A long crawl with the air-conditioning on recirculation is the opposite of a short errand, and it flips the usual advice. In a car whose doors open ten times a day the difficulty is keeping anything in the cabin. In a car sealed up for ninety minutes the difficulty is the other way round. You are in a closed volume of air with the same scent for a long, unbroken stretch, and you will be there again tomorrow morning. That is not an argument for a stronger product or a bigger dose. It is an argument for the published one spray, a scent you are happy to live with, and a willingness to leave the bottle alone once you are moving.
SOSA car perfume, spray or hanging, from Rs 449
SOSA car perfume · spray or hanging, same price · nine scents from ₹449 →
The decision behind almost every version of this question, and it is not about the car: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and more at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, published at 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Nothing here changes with the powertrain.
Quick answers — read this first
Should you use more fragrance on a long journey in traffic? Generally the reverse. SOSA publishes that one spray of the fine-mist atomizer covers the cabin, and a cabin that stays closed for ninety minutes has no reason to need a second. The temptation to top up mid-journey is what turns a 10ml from a three-month bottle into a fifty-day one.

How much perfume is right for a long closed-cabin drive? Start at one spray before you set off, with the doors shut, and do not add to it once you are moving. A 10ml is ₹449 to ₹549 and holds 100 sprays, published as 3 months and above at one spray a day. If you find you want less rather than more, the hanging's stopper tightens for subtler.

Does driving in heavy Mumbai traffic change the product choice? It changes the dose and the scent, not the range. SOSA sends orders across India and delivery to Mumbai is straightforward, but nothing in the range is made for one city. What a long queue argues for is a scent you still want at minute eighty, which usually means one of the softer or drier ones rather than the deepest.
The short answer
Short answer: Long closed-cabin journeys argue for less, not more. SOSA publishes that one spray of the fine-mist atomizer covers the cabin, so press once before setting off and leave it alone. A 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays, which is 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, runs 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper tightens for subtler, which is the better control for a ninety-minute queue.
The pick: A 12ml SOSA hanging car perfume, ₹449 to ₹509 - 4 to 6 weeks continuous, with a stopper you can tighten, because a long sealed journey is the one situation where turning something down is more useful than adding more.
Why: Ninety unbroken minutes in a closed cabin is a lot of exposure to one decision, and the hanging is the only format in the range with a dial on it.
What the car runs on is not the variable. How it is used is.On demand - 10ml spray ₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 spraysContinuous - 12ml hanging, same price, 4 to 6 weeksVentilate a hot or long-shut cabin before you judge itNever - fragrance instead of finding a smell's source
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
Straight answer
I drive a petrol hatchback in heavy Mumbai traffic with AC on recirculation for most journeys - how should long closed-cabin exposure influence perfume quantity?
It should push you towards less, and towards a format you can turn down. Take the quantity question first, because it has a published answer. SOSA states that the spray is a fine-mist atomizer and that one spray covers the cabin. In a car that is going to stay shut for ninety minutes, there is no mechanism by which a second press before you set off makes the next ninety minutes better - it simply makes them more. The real risk on a long queue is the mid-journey top-up: you stop noticing what you chose an hour ago, you reach for the bottle, and now two things are true at once. The cabin has more in it than you intended, and the arithmetic has changed. A SOSA 10ml spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon and ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, and it holds 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. Two presses a day on a two-queue commute halves the bottle, and that is division rather than a complaint. The better instrument than your own judgement, an hour into a drive, is the passenger who got in at the halfway point. If nobody comments, you have it about right; if somebody does, you have your answer without needing a theory. For a routine built on long sealed journeys, the 12ml hanging at the same price deserves a serious look for one reason: its stopper is the strength control, so you can tighten it for subtler rather than being stuck with whatever you pressed. It runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass. On location, plainly: SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune with delivery to Mumbai and across India - there is no counter or showroom to visit in Mumbai, and nothing in the range is formulated for one city. And a fragrance adds a scent to the cabin; it does not remove, neutralise or purify anything already in there. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One spray before you set off, and nothing after. The top-up is what empties the bottle.
For a long sealed commute: one spray, doors already shut, and no top-up. A 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 holds 100 sprays - three months and above at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, runs 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper tightens for subtler, which is the control this journey actually wants.
SOSA car perfumes from ₹449

Ninety minutes with the windows up, and what that really changes

Three things decide the quantity on a long sealed journey, and none of them is a number somebody else can give you. The first is published, the second is observation and the third is a dial.

01
The published dose
One spray covers the cabin - that is the figure, and a closed car does not need two
SOSA publishes that the spray is a fine-mist atomizer and that one spray covers the cabin. That is the whole dosing guidance in the range, and it is enough. A cabin on recirculation for ninety minutes is the most closed the car ever gets, which means whatever you press before you set off is what you are living with. There is no published reason to press twice and a very clear reason not to: a 10ml is 100 sprays, and the pages give the working as 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A morning queue and an evening queue with a press before each is the fifty-day bottle. Choose that deliberately if you want it; just do not arrive at it by accident and then wonder where the bottle went.
Tip: One press, before you move off, with the doors already shut.
02
The passenger
An hour into a queue, somebody who just got in knows more than you do
This is the practical half of the question and it does not need any theory behind it. After eighty minutes in the same cabin your own judgement of how much scent is in it is the weakest evidence available, and the person who opened the door two minutes ago has the strongest. So use them. If your colleague gets in at the halfway point and says nothing, your dose is fine. If they say something, adjust down and see whether anyone notices. The second measurable signal is the bottle itself. If a 10ml is going down faster than the published 3 months and above at one spray a day suggests, your rate has crept up, and that is a fact rather than an impression. Between a passenger and a bottle you have everything you need, and you do not have to trust anybody's claim about what a long drive does.
03
A dial rather than a dose
The hanging's stopper is the only adjustment in the range, and a long journey is where it earns its place
The spray gives you an on switch. The hanging gives you a dial, and SOSA publishes it plainly: loosen the stopper for stronger, tighten it for subtler. For somebody spending ninety unbroken minutes in a sealed cabin twice a day, the ability to turn something down a quarter turn and leave it there is worth more than the ability to add another press. It costs the same as the spray for the same scent and runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, with 15ml refills at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. The honest limitation is the mirror of its strength: it is running all day in a car nobody is sitting in, and it cannot be switched off for the one journey where you want the cabin plain.
Tip: Add-more is the only control a spray has. The hanging can also take away.
SOSA Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray, 10ml and 50ml
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
See Mysore Orange Blossom from ₹549 →
Work it out in this order
What to do on a ninety-minute crawl, in order
  1. Shut the doors first. One spray. Then put the bottle back in the door pocket.
  2. Do not top up mid-journey. That is the habit that halves a 100-spray bottle.
  3. Ask the passenger who got in late. They are the better instrument than you.
  4. If you want it quieter, tighten the hanging's stopper rather than buying again.
The SOSA principle
On a ninety-minute crawl the useful skill is restraint. One spray, then leave the bottle in the door and drive.
And if you want the cabin quieter than one spray, that is a stopper you tighten rather than a product you replace.

Choosing a scent you will still want an hour into a queue

Scent choice does real work on a long journey, because you will be with it for an unbroken stretch. The softer and drier end tends to wear better over ninety minutes: Lavender at ₹479 is published as the softest in the range, Vetiver at ₹509 is dry and green rather than sweet, and Sandalwood at ₹479 sits between them. Oud at ₹509 is the deepest published and is the one most worth trying before committing to it for a daily queue. The bright side - Lemon at ₹499, Icy Mint at ₹489, Sea Breeze at ₹509 - is sharper on a short trip than it is an hour into a queue. Jasmine at ₹449 is the entry price, and Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only.

The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to handle a long sealed commute, and the flaw in each
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
One spray before setting off The published dose, used once, with the doors already shut. 100 sprays in a 10ml and a three-month bottle at one a day. It fails only if you cannot resist the mid-journey top-up, in which case you are on the 50-day figure.
A 12ml hanging, the same price The only adjustable format: loosen the stopper for stronger, tighten for subtler, 4 to 6 weeks per bottle. It fails on the journey where you want the cabin plain, because it cannot be switched off.
A spray combo, ₹899 to ₹949 Two 10ml bottles, 200 sprays, published as 100 days at two a day rotating - and rotating is genuinely useful when you spend ninety minutes a day with one scent. It is two purchases in one, and you still have to choose one of them each morning.
Opening the windows instead Free, and it is the right answer more often than a fragrance page usually admits. On recirculation for ninety minutes, a minute of windows down at a long signal changes the cabin more than anything you can buy. It fails if the traffic never gives you the minute.
SOSA Lavender car perfume, spray and hanging formats
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
See SOSA car perfumes from ₹449 →

Practical notes. The hanging refills at 15ml, ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents, and there is no spray refill at all - so the adjustable format is also the toppable one. Orange Blossom has neither a hanging nor a refill. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, and formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, which is a statement about how the formula is built rather than a promise about any particular month. On location, once more and plainly: SOSA is based in Pune and sends orders across India, with delivery to Mumbai. There is no Mumbai counter, showroom or stockist, and no product in the range is made for one city.

The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.

One message, one honest recommendation
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.

Ninety minutes in a sealed cabin is a long time to live with a decision you made in two seconds. Make the small version of it.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.

Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
Product What it is What it is for Price
SOSA car perfume spray - 10ml Fragrance you switch on ₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin from ₹449
SOSA car hanging - 12ml Fragrance that simply runs The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler from ₹449
SOSA car perfume spray - 50ml The long-run size ₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out ₹1,499
Car perfume combos Two scents, one purchase ₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs from ₹899
Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set Three to try ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays, or ₹2,999 for all nine. Nine published combinations, and those nine are the whole range - none is composed to order from ₹699
Hanging refills - 15ml Only the hanging refills ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you from ₹399
SOSA Safar The powered option ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder from ₹3,999

The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.

What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.

So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.

And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.

Frequently asked questions

How much car perfume should I use on a long drive in traffic?
One spray, before you set off, with the doors already closed. SOSA publishes that the fine-mist atomizer covers the cabin in one spray, and a car on recirculation for ninety minutes is the most closed it ever gets. A 10ml holds 100 sprays, published as 3 months and above at one a day, so the mid-journey top-up is the expensive habit here.
Does a long closed journey need a stronger scent?
Usually the opposite. The range runs from Lavender as the softest through Lemon and Sandalwood to Oud as the deepest, and for an unbroken ninety minutes most people are happier at the softer or drier end. If you want to reduce what is already in the car, the 12ml hanging has a stopper you tighten for subtler.
Does SOSA have a shop in Mumbai?
No. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, in Punawale, and sends orders across India with delivery to Mumbai. There is no showroom, counter or stockist to visit, and nothing in the range is formulated for one city or one climate rather than another.
Does a petrol car matter here?
No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim at all. Everything on this page follows from the journey: ninety minutes occupied, windows up, air-conditioning on recirculation, twice a day. An identical journey in any other car would produce an identical answer.
Why do I stop noticing my own car's scent an hour in?
SOSA publishes nothing about how perception works over a journey and this page will not guess. What is reliable is that your passenger notices what you have stopped noticing, and that the bottle going down faster than the published 3 months and above at one spray a day is a measurable signal that your rate has gone up.

Eight are sold in two formats at the same price per scent - a 10ml spray and a 12ml hanging: Jasmine ₹449; Lavender and Sandalwood ₹479; Icy Mint ₹489; Lemon ₹499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze ₹509. Mysore Orange Blossom is spray only, ₹549 in 10ml. A 50ml spray is ₹1,499. The published quantities are: 10ml equals 100 sprays, stated as three months and above at one spray a day and fifty days at two a day; 50ml equals 500 sprays, stated as about a year and more; a spray combo is 200 sprays; and a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks, that is 28 to 42 days, of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle whose stopper loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. Four combos are published - Jasmine & Lemon and Jasmine & Lavender at ₹899, Oud + Lemon and Sandalwood & Oud at ₹949 - each as a spray combo of 2 x 10ml or a hanging combo of 2 x 12ml at the same price. The Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set publishes nine combinations, ₹699 to ₹899 for three and ₹2,999 for all nine; those nine are the entire set range and none is composed to order. Hanging refills are 15ml at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents; there is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India. SOSA Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
