Your finishes schedule had a line for the floor, the joinery, the lighting and the upholstery, and no line for the air. That is the honest reason this question is worth asking, and it is a smaller reason than the size of your invoice suggests.
Quick answers — read this first
I have spent heavily on the interior. Is ambient scent worth adding? Yes, as the last line of the schedule and at the size the schedule deserves. Every material in your clinic was chosen deliberately except one, and the air is running on whatever the building, the cleaning routine and the new upholstery happen to be releasing. Deciding it costs between ₹749 and ₹11,999 depending on the scented volume. What it will not do is rescue a room the other ninety-nine point nine per cent of the budget did not already get right, and any page that tells you otherwise is selling.

Does an expensive fit-out justify the expensive machine? Not on its own. The SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is rated 1000m³, about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, and it is specified against the volume of air you are actually scenting rather than against the value of the interior. A beautifully finished 900 sq ft practice with three cabins is still a small scented volume, and one Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 is a proportionate answer to it. The invoice does not size the machine. The cubic metres do.

What does a big fit-out change about the scenting problem? Three things, all physical. Hard, handsome finishes hold very little, so a scent rises and clears faster than it would in a soft room. A double-height reception looks generous and eats coverage, because you scent volume rather than floor area. And new vinyl, adhesives, paint and joinery release what they release for several weeks, which is a period during which no fragrance decision you make will hold still. Those three, not the budget, are what change the specification.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes, as the last line of the finishes schedule rather than as a rescue for it. Air is the only surface in a premium clinic that usually goes unspecified, and deciding it costs ₹749 to ₹11,999 depending on the scented volume. The interiors budget does not size the machine - the cubic metres do - and at roughly a tenth of a per cent of a ten lakh fit-out, this line behaves exactly like a tenth of a per cent.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 where the scented volume is genuinely past ~1,500 sq ft and there is a corridor to serve, otherwise one Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 in the reception.
Next step: send the finishes schedule and the floor plan with the ceiling heights marked, and we will tell you which line of it the air belongs on - ask for a clinic scenting plan.
The last line of the finishes scheduleFloor, joinery, lighting, upholstery - all specifiedThe air was the one surface nobody wrote a line forRs 11,999 against ten lakh is about a tenth of a per centIt behaves like a tenth of a per cent, and should be expected toCubic metres size the machine, not the invoice
The argument for deciding the air is that it was never decided. The argument against overspending on it is the same sentence, read the other way.
The hardware end of the last line - tap for dimensions and coverage
Straight answer
After a large fit-out, is ambient scent worth adding to a chiropractic clinic?
Yes, and for one narrow reason: it is the surface you did not specify. Look at what a fit-out actually is. Somebody chose the floor, the wall finish, the joinery, the door ironmongery, the light temperature, the upholstery on the tables and the fabric on the waiting chairs, and every one of those decisions was written down, priced and signed off. The air was not on that schedule. It is running on whatever your building, your cleaning routine and your new materials happen to be producing, and it is the one element in the room a visitor cannot look at, look past, or look away from. Deciding it deliberately is worth doing. Deciding it expensively usually is not. Here is the proportion, stated plainly, because it is the part most owners have not done: an ₹11,999 machine against a ten lakh interior is roughly a tenth of a per cent of the project, and a tenth of a per cent behaves like a tenth of a per cent. It will not carry a room. If the reception is cold, hard and under-lit, the fragrance will make a cold, hard, under-lit room smell pleasant, which is a different purchase from the one you think you are making. The other half of the proportion argument runs in the opposite direction, and I will make it too: the fact that you spent ten lakh is not itself a reason to buy the largest machine. Cubic metres size the machine, not the invoice. A very handsome 900 sq ft practice with three cabins has a small scented volume once those cabins come out, and one Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 is the proportionate answer to it. The SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 belongs where the scented volume is genuinely past about 1,500 sq ft, or where there is a corridor a bottle cannot reach along. One more thing about a new interior: give it time. New vinyl, adhesive, paint and joinery release what they release for several weeks, and a fragrance chosen in week one is chosen against a room that will not exist in week eight. Fragrance is an ambience decision like lighting, seating or flooring, it sits alongside ventilation and cleaning rather than replacing them, SOSA products are not medical devices, we make no claim that scenting affects bookings, retention or spend, adjustment and treatment rooms stay unscented, and the clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan.
The air is the one surface your fit-out never specified, so decide it. At roughly a tenth of a per cent of a ten lakh interior it behaves like one, and cubic metres size the machine rather than the invoice.
In most finished clinics the proportionate purchase is one Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849, dry and structured against a hard interior. The SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is for the plan with a real corridor in it.

The hardware, for the plan that earns it

A machine in a finished clinic is a visible object as well as a working one, so the dimensions and the mounting matter as much as the coverage. Both of these are here for the plan with a genuine corridor and a large connected reception; a single handsome room does not need either.

What a large fit-out actually changes about the problem

A premium interior does not make the scenting question grander. It changes three specific physical facts, and each one pushes in a slightly different direction from what an owner expects.

1
Change one
Handsome finishes hold almost nothing
Stone, microcement, large-format tile, glass, powder-coated steel and oiled timber are the materials a good clinic fit-out is made of, and none of them adsorbs much. In a soft room - carpet, heavy curtains, fabric seating - a fragrance is picked up by the textiles and released back slowly, which flattens the level across the day. In a hard room there is nothing performing that service, so the scent rises with the warm air, meets a high ceiling and clears. The practical consequence is not that you need a stronger fragrance. It is that the level you set will be less even through the day, and that a source placed low and out of the moving air will read more steadily than one on a console in the middle of the floor.
Tip: One soft surface - a rug, a fabric bench, a curtain over the glazing - changes the acoustics and the scent behaviour of a hard reception at the same time.
SOSA Vaayu
Where a hard room makes the level swing, the Vaayu's run windows and intensity setting are the honest fix, and they are worth more here than extra coverage.

Change two
A double-height reception is a much bigger room than the plan says
You scent volume, not floor area, and the generous ceiling that makes a premium reception feel calm is quietly the most expensive thing on this page. Four hundred square feet at a three-metre ceiling is about 111 cubic metres. The same four hundred square feet under a five-and-a-half-metre void is nearer 204, and the top half of that void is air nobody is standing in. Scent rises into it and stays there. This is where owners of beautiful spaces conclude that they need the largest machine, when what they actually need is the source placed low, near the occupied zone, and a realistic expectation that the volume above head height is not going to smell of anything in particular.
SOSA Vaayu
The Vaayu's 1000m³ figure is cubic for exactly this reason. A double-height reception eats coverage, and the plan area on your drawing will overstate what the machine has to serve.

Change three
The money went into the rooms that stay unscented
Look at where a chiropractic fit-out budget actually goes. The tables, the cabin joinery, the acoustic doors, the imaging room, the flooring in the treatment areas - a large share of it is spent behind the corridor, in rooms that are on the zero list and stay there. Adjustment rooms, treatment rooms, examination rooms and combined consultation-and-treatment rooms are left unscented, because a chiropractic client spends most of the session prone with their nose in a face cradle a few centimetres from vinyl they cannot turn away from. So the part of your fit-out that the air decision applies to is the entrance, the reception, the waiting area and the corridor, and that is usually the smaller half of the plan.
Tip: Take a highlighter to the finishes schedule and mark only the rooms clients sit in. That highlighted subtotal is the project this decision belongs to.
SOSA Vaayu
Wall or HVAC mounting is what makes a Vaayu worth having in a long plan, because a corridor is the one shape a bottle on a console cannot serve.
See SOSA Vaayu →
The SOSA principle
Every surface in your clinic was chosen except one, and the one you skipped is still making a choice on your behalf every morning.
That is the argument for deciding it. It is not an argument for spending a proportion of the fit-out on it, and the two get confused constantly.
SOSA Vaayu
Sized by the room, not the invoice: 1000m³ is cubic, so a double-height reception uses more of it than the drawing suggests. Measure height before you compare coverage.

The finishes schedule, read one line at a time

Here is the schedule your project actually had, with the missing line added at the bottom. The point of laying it out this way is to show how small the last line is, and how odd it is that it was the only one left blank.

The SOSA plan
The finishes schedule, with the line that was left blank
What the fit-out specified What it left the air doing
Flooring, wall finish and joinery
Chosen, priced and installed. Hard and handsome, holding very little, which means the room clears faster than a soft one and the level swings more across a day.
Lighting and its colour temperature
Chosen. Worth checking anyway, because cool-white light is the single most common reason a well-finished clinic still reads as cold, and it is cheaper to change than anything else on this list.

The blank line. ₹749 to ₹849 for a reed in most clinics, ₹1,899 for a small machine where a switch is needed, ₹11,999 where the scented volume is genuinely past ~1,500 sq ft. View →

The no-building-work version of this question, ranked by cost, is in making a clinic feel more premium without renovating, the register for a dark, considered interior is argued in what fragrance suits a clinic with dark wood and premium interiors, and if the fit-out has not happened yet, the timing question is in whether to budget for scenting in a new clinic. SOSA makes no health, therapeutic or wellbeing claim of any kind, and no claim that scenting affects bookings, retention or spend.

A tenth of a per cent of the budget cannot rescue the other ninety-nine point nine. What it can do is stop being the one line on the schedule that nobody wrote.

The scented volume decides this, and the scented volume is the entrance, reception, waiting area and corridor only. One source per connected volume of air. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Below those thresholds - which is where most premium single-site clinics sit - the answer is a reed at ₹749 to ₹849, or a Sukoon at ₹1,899 if you want a switch. Fragrance is an ambience decision like lighting or seating, with no health, therapeutic or clinical claim of any kind. It works alongside your ventilation, cleaning and clinical protocol, never instead of them, SOSA products are not medical devices, and we make no claim that scenting affects bookings, retention or spend. Adjustment and treatment rooms stay unscented, staff must be able to stop the source within seconds, and the clinician's judgement overrides any plan. A note from Sonal

The calls I get after a big fit-out have a particular shape. The owner is standing in a room they are proud of, they cannot fault anything in it, and something is still unfinished. Nine times out of ten what they have noticed is that the room has no smell of its own yet - it smells of the building and of whatever was last cleaned - and that every other decision in the space was made on purpose while this one was not made at all.

What I try to do on those calls is keep the proportion straight in both directions. The air deserves a decision because it is the only surface that never got one. It does not deserve a proportional share of a large budget, because it is not a proportional part of the experience. Those two sentences sit awkwardly together and both of them are true, and an owner who holds both usually ends up buying a reed and being pleased with it.

The other thing I say is to wait a few weeks after handover, which is not a sales technique. We make no health, therapeutic or clinical claim of any kind, and no claim that scenting affects bookings, retention, referrals or spend. Fragrance is an ambience decision, like lighting or seating. Adjustment and treatment rooms stay unscented, staff must be able to switch the source off in seconds, and the clinician's judgement overrides any plan. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Should the scenting budget be proportionate to what I spent on the interior?
It should be proportionate to the volume of air you are scenting, which is a completely different number. A ten lakh fit-out in a 900 sq ft practice with three cabins leaves a small scented zone, and the correct purchase for it is a reed at ₹749 to ₹849. Spending more because the interior cost more buys coverage you have no room for.
My reception is double height. Does that change what I should buy?
It changes the arithmetic rather than the answer. Coverage is quoted in cubic metres, so a void adds volume that nobody is standing in and the scent rises into it. Put the source low, near the occupied zone, and accept that the air above head height will not smell of much. It is not a case for the largest machine.
My clinic has just been fitted out and smells of new materials. What now?
Ventilate and wait. New vinyl, adhesives, paint and joinery release what they release for several weeks, and fragrance sits alongside that rather than removing it. Air the space properly every morning, keep the cleaning schedule well ahead of the first appointment, and make the fragrance decision in month two when the room has settled into itself.
Does the machine have to look like part of the interior design?
It has to be tolerable to look at or hidden, which is a lower bar. The Vaayu is 165 × 80.5 × 215mm, 0.9kg, black or white, and can be freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, so in a finished clinic the usual answer is a mount above eye level and out of the supply draught rather than an object on the console table.
Is ₹11,999 better spent on something else in a finished clinic?
Often, yes. Warmer light, one soft surface and taking things off the counter will each change more of the impression per rupee than fragrance will, and all three are cheaper. If those are already done and the room still has nothing of its own in the air, then this is a reasonable line to spend on - starting at ₹749.

Facts verified 24 August 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and onboard button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, operation under 38dB, DC 12V/1A at 5W (roughly 1.5 units of electricity a month on a ten-hour daily schedule), freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) is an HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, with an 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules and operation under 42dB, and also runs standalone wall-mounted or lay-flat.
