If you love musk, you already know what you are asking for: something close, soft and skin-like rather than something that announces itself. The honest answer starts with what this range does not have, and it is worth reading before you buy anything.
Quick answers — read this first
Does SOSA make a pure musk attar? No. White musk is a base note in SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab, never the whole composition, so there is no musk soliflore in the range. What the oil format does give you is a scent that sits close to warm skin.

Which attar is closest to a musk perfume? SOSA Adaa at ₹379, the lightest of the four and the only one with no oudh. White musk sits in its base with vetiver and cedarwood, under bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac.

Who is this range not the right answer for? Anyone who wants a heavy, enveloping musk. SOSA Nawaab is the deepest of the four, but its depth is oud and leather, not musk. That reader is better served elsewhere, and I would rather say so.
The short answer
Short answer: The range has no musk soliflore. White musk is a base note in three attars, and SOSA Adaa is the lightest of them and the usual pick, with no oudh in it at all.
The pick: One 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379. If you want the musk under rose and amber, SOSA Ameeri at ₹385; under oud and leather, SOSA Nawaab at ₹399.
Next step: Tell us which musk perfumes you have worn and what you disliked about them, and we will name one of the three. Ask for an attar recommendation.

Straight answer
I Love Musk Perfumes — Which Attar Should I Buy?
SOSA makes no musk soliflore: white musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab, never the whole of a bottle. That sounds like a refusal and is closer to a map. Here is the decision in five steps.

1. Accept the premise first. There is no pure musk in the range. White musk sits in the base of SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab, under other things, and SOSA Mastani does not carry it at all; its base is vanilla and tonka.

2. Treat the oil as half the answer. A musk lover wants something close, soft and skin-like. An alcohol-free oil on warm skin sits where you put it and stays near you, which is much of what a musk soliflore would be trying to do.

3. Pick by what you want over the musk. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 is bergamot, green cardamom and neroli with jasmine sambac, over musk, vetiver and cedarwood. SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 is rose and sandalwood over amber. SOSA Nawaab at ₹399 is oud and leather.

4. Dose like a musk wearer. One dab on one pulse point is a whisper and two is a sentence. A musk lover who wants to be found only at arm's length should stay at one, and see how the first three days go.

5. Judge it at hour three, on an ordinary day. From a 3ml, in the season you will wear it. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin and nothing beyond that; how far it carries varies from person to person.

Nobody can promise you what anyone else will make of it, and I will not. What a fragrance can be is consistent, close and distinctive. What it does in someone else's head is theirs.
No musk soliflore exists in the range. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 is the lightest of the three attars with white musk in the base. One 3ml, one dab, judged at hour three.
The first purchase is one 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379: white musk with vetiver and cedarwood in the base, under bergamot, green cardamom, neroli, jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, and no oudh anywhere. If you want the musk lower and the amber higher, make it SOSA Ameeri at ₹385. Both are alcohol-free roll-on oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier.

The three attars that carry white musk

SOSA makes four attars and white musk is a base note in three of them. All four are alcohol-free, DPG-free oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune, as roll-ons in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. The two below are the ends of the musk range and Ameeri sits between them. Prices and sizes are on the live pages.

SOSA Adaa
The lightest, and the usual first pick
SOSA Adaa
₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml. Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. No oudh at all. The musk is a quiet floor under a bright top, which is why this is where a musk lover should start.
From ₹379
SOSA Nawaab
The deepest, with the musk well underneath
SOSA Nawaab
₹399 for 3ml, ₹699 for 6ml, ₹1,199 for 12ml. White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf on amber, leather and white musk. The musk is present but it is the least audible thing here. Come for the oud, not for the musk.
From ₹399
SOSA Ameeri
The middle: musk softening rose, sandalwood and amber
SOSA Ameeri · alcohol-free roll-on attar
₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml. Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. Warmer and rounder than Adaa, with a little oud rather than none. The musk does the softening here and the amber does the warming.

Three things to know about musk here

A musk lover reading a note list tends to look for the word musk and stop. These are the three things the list does not tell you, including the one that may mean this range is not for you.

1
One
Musk is the floor of the bottle, not the whole of it
In a pyramid the base is what remains once the top has gone, and white musk sits there in three of the four attars. That is a different job from the one musk does in a perfume built around it. Here it rounds and softens what sits above it rather than being the thing you smell. In Adaa it shares the base with vetiver and cedarwood, dry and woody. In Ameeri it sits with amber and soft oudh, warm and resinous. In Nawaab it sits with amber and leather, dark and dense. Same note, three different companions, three different results.
Tip: Read the base line of each pyramid first, not the top. The base tells you what the musk is sitting next to.
SOSA Adaa
The plainest place to hear the musk is Adaa at ₹379, where the base is white musk, vetiver and cedarwood and nothing sweet or resinous sits beside it.
See SOSA Adaa →
2
Two
Three attars, three jobs for the same white musk
Adaa uses it as a clean floor under a citrus-and-white-flower top, so it reads as light and green. Ameeri uses it to soften a rose-and-sandalwood heart that already leans warm. Nawaab uses it as cushioning beneath leather and amber, where it is the least audible of the three. If you picture musk as the main event, only Adaa leaves it enough room to be heard, and even there it is a base note, not a headline. That is why the three are not interchangeable for a musk lover, even though all three list the same note.
Tip: If you can only try one, try Adaa. If you try two, add Ameeri, which shows you what musk does when amber sits beside it.
SOSA Ameeri
Ameeri at ₹385 is the one to add second: Taif rose and Indian sandalwood over soft oudh, amber and white musk. A rounder, warmer step away from Adaa.
See SOSA Ameeri →
3
Three
If you want a heavy, enveloping musk, this is not the range
I would rather say this here than have you find out at hour three. Nothing in the SOSA range is a thick, enveloping musk of the kind that fills a lift. Nawaab is the deepest of the four, 9.5 out of 10 for depth, but that depth is oud, tobacco and leather rather than musk. Adaa is the lightest and the closest to a skin scent. If what you love about musk is that it surrounds you, a 3ml oil is the wrong tool. If what you love is that it is close, the oil is the right one.
Tip: Ask yourself whether you want the musk to fill the room or to stay at arm's length. Only the second is answered here.
SOSA Nawaab
If depth is what you want anyway, Nawaab at ₹399 is the deepest of the four. It is an oud-led attar with white musk beneath, not a musk with oud on top.
See SOSA Nawaab →
The SOSA principle
A musk lover looking for a musk bottle in this range will not find one. A musk lover looking for musk that stays close, soft and skin-like will find that the format does half the work and the base note does the rest.
Once you stop looking for the word musk on the label and start reading what sits over and beside it, the range reads differently: three attars with the same floor and three different rooms built on it, one of which has very little furniture.
SOSA Adaa
The usual first pick for a musk lover: Adaa at ₹379 is bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. It is the lightest of the four and the only one composed with no oudh, which leaves the musk the most room.

Where the musk sits in each attar

The table reads each attar from the base upward, because that is where the musk lives. For each one it names what shares the base with the musk and what that does to the way the musk reads, with Mastani included so nobody buys it for a note it does not have.

The SOSA plan
What shares the base with white musk, attar by attar
The attar, and what sits beside the musk What that does to how the musk reads
SOSA AdaaAdaa: white musk beside vetiver and cedarwood
Dry, woody and green beneath a bright top. The musk is the soft part of that floor and the easiest to hear of the three. View →
SOSA AmeeriAmeeri: white musk beside soft oudh and amber
Warm and rounded. The musk softens the amber and the oudh rather than standing apart from them, so it reads as texture more than as a note. View →
SOSA NawaabNawaab: white musk beside amber and leather
Dark and dense. The musk is cushioning under the leather and the oud-led top, the least audible of the three and not why anyone buys it. View →
SOSA MastaniMastani: vanilla and tonka, no white musk at all
Included so nobody buys it for the musk. Its base is Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka, a deep floral-gourmand and a different search. View →

Everything above is a map of three bases, not a promise of what you will smell. If you want to know whether white musk itself is the draw, the closer reading of Adaa, note by note, is the next page to read. If the real question is why an oil reads as skin-like at all, the format argument makes that case on its own. And if you have already ruled out one kind of musk, clean musk versus powdery musk draws the line. SOSA makes four attars, one box of three and six perfume oils; of those, only Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab carry musk in the base. If you would rather not run the test, tell us which musks you have worn and we will name one.

SOSA Ameeri
If you want the musk warmer and rounder: Ameeri at ₹385 puts white musk beside amber and soft oudh, under Taif rose and Indian sandalwood. Still a base note, but one working with something sweet and resinous rather than something dry and green.
One musk question, answered in an email

Musk as a floor and musk as a wearing distance are different wishes. This range answers the second honestly and the first not at all.

The SOSA specification for a musk lover

Two rows and two 3ml bottles: Adaa for the musk you can hear, and Ameeri for the musk that softens something warmer. Nawaab and Mastani are a different decision, and the reasons are in the note below the table.

The SOSA specification for a musk lover
Start with the lightest, add the warmer one second
Attar Best for Why it works Price
SOSA Adaa A first musk-leaning attar, or anyone who dislikes heavy fragrance ₹379 for 3ml. Bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. No oudh, so the musk has the most room ₹379
View →
SOSA Ameeri Anyone who wants the musk softened by amber and rose ₹385 for 3ml. Persian saffron and pink pepper over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. Rounder than Adaa ₹385
View →
Both rows are 3ml. The 6ml and 12ml of the same composition are the right purchase after a full season, not instead of it: ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml for Adaa and ₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml for Ameeri. SOSA Nawaab at ₹399 carries white musk too, but it is the deepest of the four and oud-led, so it belongs to a different decision. SOSA Mastani has no white musk. There is also SOSA Bahaar, a perfume oil rather than an attar, whose published notes are crisp orchard pear, freesia and soft musk, from ₹599 for 10ml; that is musk at the end of a pear scent, not a musk scent. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin and nothing further; how far a fragrance carries depends on skin, dose, clothing and the weather, and varies from person to person. A patch test on first use is the only skin advice we give. Nobody can promise you what anyone else will think of it, and I will not. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies: Ask for an attar recommendation and describe the musks you have worn.

A note from Sonal

People ask me for a musk attar more often than I expected, and for a long time my answer was a slightly embarrassed one. We do not make one. White musk is in the base of three of our attars, and in none of them is it the point. I could have named a bottle after it and some of you would have bought it. It is a gap in the range, and I would rather name a gap than write around it.

What I have noticed is that most people who say they love musk are describing a distance, not a note. They mean close. They mean something you find when you lean in rather than something that arrives before you do. An oil on warm skin does that by construction, which is why the question stopped being where the musk attar is and became which base you want the musk sitting in: dry and woody, warm and amber, or dark and leathery.

So the advice here is small: one 3ml of Adaa, one dab, three ordinary days, judged at hour three in the season you will wear it. If you decide you wanted the musk bigger than that, I would rather you found out for ₹379 than for ₹1,149. Nobody can promise you what anyone else will think of how you smell, so there is nothing riding on this beyond your own preference. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Does SOSA make a pure white musk attar?
No. There is no musk soliflore in the range. White musk is a base note in SOSA Adaa, SOSA Ameeri and SOSA Nawaab, and in each of them it sits under other things. SOSA Mastani does not carry it. If you need a bottle that is only musk, the honest answer is that this is not the range, and I would rather you knew that before ordering.
Which attar has the most noticeable white musk?
SOSA Adaa. Its base is white musk with vetiver and cedarwood, and nothing sweet or resinous sits beside it, so the musk has the most room. It is still a base note under bergamot, green cardamom, neroli and three white flowers, which means it arrives later rather than first. Judge it at hour three, not at the first sniff.
Is an attar too heavy for someone who likes musk?
Not by nature. Heaviness is mostly a dosing question. One dab on one pulse point is a whisper and two is a sentence. SOSA Adaa is the lightest of the four, and an alcohol-free oil sits where you put it rather than spreading as a cloud. SOSA Nawaab is the deepest and is not the right place to start.
Should I buy the Trio if I like musk?
Only if choosing is your problem. The Trio from ₹1,055 is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani. Two of them carry white musk, but Adaa is not in the box and Mastani has none, so it is a way to compare two musk bases, not the best way to start. For a first purchase, one 3ml of Adaa is the cheaper experiment.
How much of an attar do I need to wear?
Start with one dab on one pulse point. If the question at hour three is whether you can still find it yourself, one dab is often enough; if you cannot, add a second dab tomorrow rather than a third today. A 3ml is far more than three ordinary days need, which is the point of buying it. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin and nothing beyond that.
SOSA Attar Trio
Two of the three musk-bearing attars in one box: The Attar Trio from ₹1,055 is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani. Two of them carry white musk, but Adaa is not in it and Mastani has none, so it is a way to compare two bases, not the way to start.
