Founder Diaries · Attar Gifting
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 10 min read Updated September 2026
There is a natural instinct to read the tiers as good, better and best, and to feel that buying the smallest is slightly mean. That reading is wrong and it costs people money every festive season. The tiers are not levels of generosity. They are levels of certainty, and the question is how much of it you actually have.
Quick answers — read this first
Which size of the SOSA three-attar set should I buy as a gift? The 3ML tier at ₹1,055 in almost every gifting case. Three small bottles is the right amount to hand somebody whose reaction you have not seen yet, and the set exists partly so people can try all three at evening doses before committing to a large bottle of any one of them.

What are the three tiers of the three-attar set? Three bottles of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani at one size at a time: ₹1,055 for 3ML each, ₹1,859 for 6ML each, ₹3,189 for 12ML each. The scents are identical across the tiers. The only thing that changes is how much of each there is.

Is the largest tier better value? Per millilitre, yes. As a gift it is a different proposition entirely - roughly three times the outlay of the small tier, spent before anybody has worn a drop. That is a sensible purchase for somebody who already knows they love these three scents and an expensive one for anybody else.
The short answer
Short answer: Buy the tier that matches your certainty, not your budget. The 3ML set at Rs 1,055 is the gifting tier because the recipient's reaction is unknown; the 12ML tier is a restock for somebody who has already decided.
The pick: the three-attar set at ₹1,055 for the 3ML tier, which is where a gift belongs - move up to ₹1,859 only when you already know she likes this register, and to the largest tier only when she has worn these exact scents.
Honest note: the set is fixed and all three scents sit in one register, so it is depth rather than contrast. Adaa, the one bright scent, is not in it.
The trio, and the alternative - at a glanceThe trio is one register: rose, oud, sandalwood. Three eveningsFixed set ₹1,055 · Ameeri, Nawaab, Mastani · Adaa not includedWant contrast? Three chosen 3ML from ₹1,153 - three boxesAlcohol-free oil · worn at the wrist
SOSA's three-attar set is a fixed pairing of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani at Rs 1,055 for three 3ML bottles. All three sit in the same register - rose, oud, sandalwood and heavy florals, built for evenings. If what you want is contrast rather than depth, the route is three 3ML singles chosen yourself, from Rs 1,153, which is the only way to include Adaa, the one bright scent in the range. Those arrive as three boxes rather than one gift set.
Straight answer
Which tier of the three-attar set should I buy, 3ML, 6ML or 12ML?
The 3ML tier, at ₹1,055. That is the answer for almost every gift, and here is the reasoning rather than the assertion.

The three tiers. The set is the same three scents at one size at a time - Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani. Three bottles of 3ML is ₹1,055. Three of 6ML is ₹1,859. Three of the largest size is ₹3,189. Nothing about the scents changes between them.

Why size is a bet. When you buy a gift you are buying before you have seen the reaction. The smallest tier keeps that bet proportionate: three scents, enough of each to wear properly over a season, and if one of the three turns out not to suit her you have lost very little. The largest tier makes the same bet at roughly three times the stake, before a single wearing.

When to move up to 6ML. When the certainty is real - she already wears rose, oud or heavy florals, she has worn attars before, and you are confident the register is right. ₹1,859 is then a sensible upgrade rather than a gamble, because what you are buying more of is something you already know she wants.

When the largest tier makes sense. Honestly, when she has worn these exact three and asked for more, or when you are buying for yourself. It is a different budget and a different purchase - a restock rather than a gift - and treating it as the generous version of the small one is how people end up with three large bottles of something worn twice.

One more option worth knowing. If you are certain about one scent rather than three, a single 12ML bottle is ₹1,165 to ₹1,199 - more of the one thing instead of a little of three. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: tiers are levels of certainty rather than levels of generosity, so buy the 3ML set at Rs 1,055 unless you already know exactly how she will react.
The three-attar set is ₹1,055 for three 3ML bottles, ₹1,859 at 6ML. It is a fixed pairing - Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani - and all three sit in the same register, so it is depth rather than contrast. Worth knowing before you order: Adaa is not in it.
from ₹1,055

What each tier is actually for

Three ways to read the tiers, and only one of them leads to the right purchase.

1
Certainty
The tier should match what you actually know
Ask yourself one thing: have you ever watched this person wear a fragrance in this register and enjoy it? If the answer is yes, the 6ML tier is defensible. If the answer is no, you are buying on inference, and inference belongs at ₹1,055 rather than at three times that. The smallest tier is not a lesser version of the gift, it is the version that matches the information you have.
Tip: Have you seen her wear this register and like it? That answer picks the tier.
2
What three small bottles are for
Sampling across three scents, not stockpiling one
The reason a set of three exists at the small size is so somebody can wear all three at proper evening doses before deciding which one deserves a bigger bottle. That is the job it does, and it does it well. Three large bottles inverts the logic: it commits to all three before any of them has earned it, which is a strange thing to do on somebody else's behalf. If she later finds that Mastani is the one, a single large bottle of it is the natural next purchase and she can make it herself.
3
The jump
The largest tier is a different budget, not a bigger gesture
Three times the outlay of the small tier is not an upgrade, it is a separate decision with separate reasoning. There are good reasons to make it - somebody who wears one of these daily, a household that shares them, a restock. Generosity is not one of them, because the person opening it cannot tell how much oil is in a bottle until they have worn it for a while. If what you want is for the gift to feel substantial on the day, the 6ML set at ₹1,859 does that without the leap.
Tip: If you want it to feel substantial, 6ML does that. The largest tier is a restock.
The SOSA principle
The tiers are levels of certainty, not levels of generosity.
Buying small is not meanness when you have not seen the reaction yet. It is the correct size for the information you have, and it leaves the bigger purchase to the person who will actually wear it.

Sizing the gift to the certainty you have

Size the gift to how much you know, and let her buy the large bottle of whichever one wins.

The SOSA attar edit
Which tier, by what you know about her
Option Who it suits, and what it costs
You are inferring her taste rather than knowing it The three-attar set at ₹1,055. Three 3ML bottles - the right stake for a bet you have not seen resolved.
You know she wears this register and enjoys attars The same three at 6ML, ₹1,859. A real upgrade, because you are buying more of something you already know lands.
She has worn these three and wants more of them The largest tier, ₹3,189. A restock rather than a gift, and worth calling it that.
You are certain about one scent rather than three A single 12ML bottle at ₹1,165 to ₹1,199. More of the one thing instead of a little of three.

If what is really behind the question is how far a small bottle goes, Wear time and size works through the arithmetic without quoting you a number of hours. If you are still weighing the fixed set against choosing three bottles yourself, Fixed set or chosen three is the direct comparison. The set is here in all three sizes.

The SOSA attar edit

Every SOSA attar is alcohol-free oil worn at the wrist, hand-blended in small batches in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the edit by what you actually know about the person's taste, which is what decides whether a fixed set or three chosen bottles is the right answer.

The SOSA attar edit
Five answers by what you actually know about their taste - from ₹1,055 to ₹1,859
Option Best for What it is, honestly From
The three-attar set, 3ML x 3 They already wear rose, oud or big florals Ameeri, Nawaab, Mastani - one register, three evenings. Fixed: Adaa is not in it ₹1,055
Three chosen 3ML singles You want contrast, not depth Any three of the four, chosen by you. The only route that includes Adaa. Three boxes, not one set ₹1,153
One 12ML of a scent you are sure of You know exactly what they wear A size they finish rather than sample, when guessing is not required ₹1,149
The three-attar set, 6ML x 3 The same three, in a size that lasts Where the trio is right and 3ML would run out too quickly ₹1,859
Solid perfume tin 15g When a roll-on is not right Solid balm in a metal tin - nothing to spill, nothing to leak in a bag ₹500

Four honest notes. The three-attar set is fixed - Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani, in one size tier at a time. Adaa, the bergamot and cardamom one, is not in it, so if the brighter style is what the person wears, that means buying Adaa separately. All three trio scents sit in the same register - rose, oud, sandalwood and heavy florals - so the set is depth rather than contrast; if contrast is the point, choose three 3ML singles yourself and know that they arrive as three boxes rather than one gift set, because there is no build-your-own set on the store. SOSA's attars are alcohol-free oil worn at the wrist; the designer-inspired line is an alcohol-based spray and a different product entirely, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any fragrance house it names. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

The hardest fragrance gift is not the one where you know nothing. It is the one where you know just enough. You can name the bottle they have worn for six years. You also know that buying it again is not a gift, it is a refill - and that buying something wildly different is a coin toss with your money on it.

So people reach for a set, and most fragrance sets quietly mislead. They are sold as exploration when they are really one house's single idea, broken into three bottles. I would rather tell you what ours actually is. Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani are three evenings, not three directions. Rose, oud, sandalwood, saffron, night jasmine. If the person you are buying for already lives in that register, the set is genuinely good and the discount is real. If they wear something bright and fresh, it is the wrong set, and no amount of my writing changes that.

The answer in that case is not a different set. It is three bottles you pick yourself - and yes, that costs about a hundred rupees more than the fixed three, and yes, they arrive in three boxes rather than one. I would rather you knew both of those things before you ordered than after. Adaa is the only bright one we make, and it is not in the set. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Frequently asked questions

Which size of the three-attar set is best for a gift?
The 3ML tier at ₹1,055 for most gifts. Three small bottles is enough of each scent to wear properly through a season, and it keeps the outlay proportionate to the fact that you have not seen the recipient's reaction yet. Move up only when you already know the register suits her.
What does each tier of the set cost?
The same three scents at one size at a time: ₹1,055 for three 3ML bottles, ₹1,859 for three 6ML bottles and ₹3,189 for the largest tier. Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in every case. The compositions are identical across the tiers.
Is the biggest tier better value?
Per millilitre it is, and that is the right way to think about it only once somebody knows they want these three scents. As a gift it is roughly three times the outlay of the small tier, spent before a single wearing, which is a lot of certainty to assume on somebody else's behalf.
Does buying the smallest size look cheap?
It looks like three bottles of concentrated alcohol-free oil in a box, which is what it is. Nobody can tell how much oil is in a roll-on by looking at it on the day, and the small tier is the one the set was designed around - three scents to wear at evening doses before committing to a larger bottle of any one.
Should I buy one large bottle instead of three small ones?
Only if you are confident about which scent she would choose. One 12ML bottle is ₹1,165 to ₹1,199 and gives her much more of a single thing. Three small bottles at ₹1,055 gives her the comparison instead. Certainty buys the large one; guessing buys the three.

SOSA does not sort fragrance by the gender of the wearer - every scent is recommended here on what a person has said they like.

SOSA attars, specified: alcohol-free concentrated fragrance oil in a roll-on bottle, applied at the wrist rather than sprayed. Four scents: Adaa (bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk - the one bright scent in the range), Ameeri (Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron, soft oudh), Mastani (night-blooming jasmine, damask rose, oudh) and Nawaab (white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron). Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab share oudh, sandalwood and rose materials and sit in one register; Adaa is the outlier.
