Reach and duration come from two different parts of a reed diffuser, and almost everyone who asks this question is trying to buy the wrong one. Your bottle is behaving normally; the question is whether normal is enough for the room you are standing in.
Quick answers — read this first
Do I need a stronger fragrance oil for my reed diffusers? No, and SOSA does not make one. Every reed fragrance in the range is a single strength on a coconut-derived CCT base, and there is no concentrated commercial version behind the counter. Even if there were, it would raise how the air reads within half a metre of the bottle long before it changed anything at the far end of the room. What limits a reed is how much fibre is standing in the air and how fast the room exchanges that air, not how the oil is built.
Will a bigger bottle carry the scent further? It will not. A 50ml bottle runs six to eight weeks and a 130ml runs fourteen to eighteen, which is roughly a millilitre a day evaporating in both cases. The reservoir sets how many weeks you get before a refill, and the exposed reed surface sets how much is leaving per hour. Buy the 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 because you are tired of reordering, not because you want another two metres.
So what actually increases the reach of a reed? Three things, in this order, and only one of them costs money. Stand all six reeds instead of three or four, which roughly doubles the exposed fibre. Move the bottle off the reception counter to a shelf about a metre up, 1.5 to 2 metres inside the door and out of the air conditioner's blast. Then judge it with a cold nose from the doorway rather than from arm's length. If a corridor still reads as empty after that, the format is the limit and a machine is the next honest step.
The short answer
Short answer: Neither. A reed diffuser emits from the exposed fibre above the neck of the bottle, so reach is set by how many reeds are standing and how the room moves air, while the reservoir only sets how many weeks you get. 50ml and 130ml both evaporate about a millilitre a day. Stand all six reeds, move the bottle off the counter to a shelf 1.5 metres inside the door, and step to an active machine only if a corridor still fails.
The pick: six reeds in the bottle you already own first, then a SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 for one room under about 320 sq ft, or the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 only where a corridor past roughly 1,500 sq ft has to be served.
Next step: tell us the length of the space you want covered and where the bottle stands today, and we will say whether six reeds will close the gap - ask for a clinic scenting plan.
My reed diffusers can only be smelled from a few feet away - do I need a stronger oil or a different diffusion system?
Neither the oil nor the bottle is the variable, so start by putting both of those purchases down. A reed diffuser has exactly one engine, and it is the length of fibre standing above the neck. Oil climbs the reed by capillary action and leaves from whatever surface is exposed to the room, which means the emission rate is set by how much reed is in the air, how warm the room is and how fast the air moves past it. The glass underneath is a fuel tank and nothing more. The clearest proof of that is in our own published figures: 50ml lasts six to eight weeks and 130ml lasts fourteen to eighteen, which comes to roughly a millilitre a day in both cases. Same daily output, different number of weeks. A bigger bottle is a longer calendar, not a bigger source. As for a stronger oil, SOSA does not sell one - every reed fragrance is a single strength on a coconut-derived CCT base, there is no commercial concentrate, and if there were it would mostly make the half-metre around the bottle louder rather than pushing anything to the far wall. So if your reception reads at the counter and reads as nothing two metres away, your bottle is behaving exactly as a passive source behaves, and what you are describing is a gradient rather than a fault. Here is what I would do, in order. First, stand all six reeds rather than the three or four most people leave in, flip them once with gloves, and give it a week - that roughly doubles the exposed fibre and is the only free increase available to you. Second, get the bottle off the reception counter, where a standing client's face is thirty centimetres from it and the desk itself blocks half the air, and put it on a shelf about a metre up, 1.5 to 2 metres inside the door, out of the air conditioner's direct blast. Third, judge it with a cold nose walking in from outside, because standing next to a source tells you nothing about the room. If after all three the corridor still reads as empty, then you have found the ceiling of the format rather than a problem with your bottle, and the next step is an active machine: a SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 for a single room up to about 320 sq ft, or the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 where a genuine corridor past roughly 1,500 sq ft has to be served. The purchase I would talk you out of is the 300ml reed refill at ₹2,399 bought as a reach upgrade; it is oil only, it is excellent value as a year of supply, and it will not move the scent one extra metre. Fragrance here is an ambience decision like lighting, seating or flooring, working alongside your ventilation and cleaning rather than instead of them. SOSA products are not medical devices, we make no claim that scenting affects bookings, retention or spend, and the clinician's judgement overrides any plan.
The reeds are the source and the bottle is the fuel. Six reeds and a better shelf are the free gains. A bigger bottle buys weeks, a stronger oil does not exist, and a corridor needs a machine.
Before spending anything, stand all six reeds in the bottle you already own. If the room still fails, one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 covers 270-320 sq ft with a switch, and the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 is for a corridor, not for a desk.
These are the two products that change the mechanism rather than the quantity. Read them as the answer to a distribution problem, not as a stronger version of what you already own.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser of undiluted oil, 1000m³ rated, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, ₹11,999. A 400ml tank over 90+ days is roughly four millilitres a day, propelled into the room instead of drifting off fibre. Timers, adjustable intensity, key-lock, under 38dB.
HVAC nebulising diffuser rated to 3,000m³, roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft, ₹25,999, 800ml reservoir, metal body, programmable schedules, under 42dB. On this page purely to show where the ladder ends. A clinic asking about reed reach is nowhere near it.
₹11,999, 1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank lasting 90+ days, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, key-lock, under 38dB, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounted, no water and no heat. CE, RoHS and SGS are electrical and compliance marks, not medical approval. Made in India.
Two of these are free and take about a minute between them. Do them in this order, because the third one is only honest once the first two have failed.

Move one
Stand all six reeds, and accept what that buys
Most clinics run three or four reeds because a supplier once said it looked neater, and three reeds is half a diffuser. The fibre is the emitting surface, so putting the other two or three in roughly doubles what leaves the bottle per hour, and it costs nothing because they came in the box. Flip them once, with gloves, and leave them alone for a week before judging anything. Two honest caveats. Six reeds shortens the bottle's life, because you are burning fuel faster for the same millilitres in the glass. And the gain is a metre or two of useful reach, not a wing of the building. If your reception is 250 sq ft and the scent dies at two metres, six reeds may finish the job. If you hoped to carry it down a corridor, it will not.
Tip: Soak new reeds for an hour before the first flip, then flip weekly. Flipping daily burns the bottle down without changing the reach.
Where a clinic has already done this and still has a dead corridor, the Vaayu is the format that changes the mechanism rather than the quantity.
Placement is doing more work here than the fragrance is, and the reception desk is the worst common position in a clinic. A counter puts the source at chest height in a pocket of still air behind a solid front, thirty centimetres from a standing client's face, which produces exactly the pattern you have described: strong at arm's length, absent everywhere else. Four rules fix it. Roughly a metre off the floor rather than on the desk, so it has room to drift instead of pooling. Out of the air conditioner's blast, because a supply draught tears a gradient apart. About 1.5 to 2 metres inside the door rather than in the doorway, where air is exchanged with the corridor. And clear of any heat source. A shelf costs less than a bottle and changes more.
Wall and HVAC mounting is the reason a machine distributes where a bottle cannot: the Vaayu can be put in the air path rather than on the furniture.
If the first two moves have been made and a room or corridor is still empty, you have reached the ceiling of a passive source and no further reed, bottle or oil will move it. That is when the format changes. A nebuliser does not wait for the air to come to it: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 pushes undiluted oil into the room at around four millilitres a day from a 400ml tank over 90+ days, and it can be mounted on a wall or into the HVAC where the air is already travelling. For a single room under about 320 sq ft that needs a switch rather than distance, the SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 is the cheaper honest step, with the caveat that it is ultrasonic and adds a little water to the room.
Tip: Size the machine to the scented volume with the treatment rooms already excluded. Most clinics that reach this decision are smaller than they assume, and land on the ₹1,899 unit.
Undiluted oil, no water and no heat: the Vaayu is a different mechanism from a wick, which is the only thing that actually answers a distance problem.
Four things a clinic in your position usually considers buying, and what each one does to the problem you have described. Only one of them is free, and it is the one to do first.
The SOSA plan
Four candidate purchases against one distance problem
What you were about to buy
What it does to the reach
A stronger fragrance oil
Nothing, and there is nothing to buy. Every SOSA reed fragrance is one strength on a coconut-derived CCT base, with no concentrate behind it. A hotter oil would mostly make the half-metre around the bottle louder.
A bigger bottle, or the 300ml refill at ₹2,399
Weeks, not metres. 50ml runs six to eight weeks, 130ml fourteen to eighteen, and both evaporate about a millilitre a day. Buy it for the calendar and the ₹2,399 is good value; buy it for distance and it is not.
The other two or three reeds, already in your box
The only free gain there is. Roughly double the exposed fibre, a metre or two of extra useful reach, and a bottle that empties sooner. Do this before anything else and wait a week.
An active machine
Changes the mechanism. A Sukoon at ₹1,899 for one room to about 320 sq ft, or ₹11,999 for a corridor past roughly 1,500 sq ft. View →
Both machines are listed against the volume they are built for, so you can hold your own scented area up against them. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The SOSA position on a reach problem
Only once the free moves have been made and failed
For most clinics reading this the answer is six reeds and a shelf, then a Sukoon at ₹1,899 if one room still needs help. Fragrance is an ambience decision like lighting or seating, with no health, therapeutic or clinical claim of any kind. It works alongside your ventilation, cleaning and clinical protocol, never instead of them, and SOSA products are not medical devices. Adjustment and treatment rooms stay unscented, staff must be able to stop the source in seconds, and the clinician's judgement overrides any plan. Ask for a clinic scenting plan and we will size the distance rather than the room.

A note from Sonal
This is the question I answer most often by email, and the answer disappoints people in the same way every time. There is no hidden concentrate. The reed range is one strength, made on a coconut-derived CCT base, alcohol-free, and the bottle you have is the same liquid I would sell to a hotel. What differs between a room that works and a room that does not is almost never the oil. It is the number of reeds standing, the height of the shelf and whether the air conditioning is aimed at it.
The figure I would like more people to know is the millilitre a day. When we published the six-to-eight weeks and fourteen-to-eighteen weeks numbers, we were describing duration, but they quietly settle the reach argument too. Two bottles of very different sizes give up almost the same liquid to the room each day, and once you have seen that, buying a larger reservoir to cover more floor stops being tempting.
So: six reeds, a shelf, a week of patience, and only then a machine. We make no health, therapeutic or clinical claim of any kind, and no claim that scenting affects a practice commercially. Fragrance is an ambience decision, like lighting or seating, never a substitute for ventilation or cleaning. Treatment rooms stay unscented, and the clinician's judgement overrides any plan. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a stronger or commercial-strength reed diffuser oil?
Not from SOSA. The five reed fragrances are made at one strength on a coconut-derived CCT base, alcohol-free and phthalate-free, and there is no concentrate behind them. A hotter formulation would raise the reading within half a metre of the bottle far more than anything at the other end of the room, because the room's air exchange is what flattens the gradient.
Does a 130ml bottle reach further than a 50ml one?
It does not. 50ml runs six to eight weeks and 130ml runs fourteen to eighteen, which is about a millilitre a day in both cases. The reservoir is the calendar and the reeds are the volume control. Buy the 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 if you are tired of reordering every couple of months, which is a perfectly good reason on its own.
Is six reeds always better than four in a clinic?
For reach, yes, and for restraint, often no. Six is the right answer where a reception is genuinely reading as nothing two metres from the bottle. In a small room that is already comfortable, four is the setting I would hold, because the level a weekly client meets forty times a year should sit below the point where anyone can name the fragrance.
Why does the scent seem strong at the desk and nowhere else?
Because a reception counter is a pocket of still air with a solid front, and a passive source in still air makes a steep gradient. Move the bottle to a shelf about a metre up, 1.5 to 2 metres inside the door and out of the air conditioner's blast, then judge it walking in from outside rather than from arm's length.
At what point should a clinic stop adding reeds and buy a machine?
When six reeds are standing, the bottle is placed properly, and a room or corridor you need covered is still reading as empty. That is the ceiling of a passive format rather than a fault. A single room to about 320 sq ft goes to a ₹1,899 Sukoon; a real corridor with scented air past roughly 1,500 sq ft is where ₹11,999 starts to be defensible.
The far end of the ladder: the SOSA Angaan at ₹25,999 covers roughly 8,000-10,000 sq ft through HVAC. Listed for scale, and several rungs above a reception bottle.
SOSA — Clinic Scentingwhen a reed diffuser stops a metre from the bottle
The reeds are the source and the glass is the fuel. Stand all six, move the bottle off the counter to a shelf 1.5 metres inside the door, and change format only if a corridor still fails. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
