In fifteen years of formulating and advising, I have watched the same three mistakes cost people their signature scent over and over. None of them are about taste. They are about method.

A perfume's first thirty seconds — the bright citrus or sugary blast you smell in the shop — is the part that disappears fastest. The scent-family map: light-to-heavy and fresh-to-warm

This is how I plot the six families in my head when matching a person to a scent. The horizontal axis runs from fresh/cool to warm/sweet; the vertical bars show how heavy and long-lasting each family wears on Indian skin. Lighter families sit left and project softly; deeper families sit right and anchor for hours.

Scores are indicative perfumer ratings of typical weight and longevity per family on Indian skin, not a measurement of any single product. How Indian heat changes how a scent wears

This is the part most international guides skip, and it is the part that decides whether your signature actually works. Indian conditions act on fragrance in two opposing ways, and the SOSA Climate Calibration Method™ is built to manage both.

Heat accelerates the top — and burns it off

At 40°C, volatile top notes (citrus, aldehydes, light florals) evaporate far faster than they would in a temperate climate. The real cost of finding your signature
