The pages before this one each took a single piece of a seven-seater in summer: the rows, the two AC zones, the first stretch of cooling, the fan, the seat. This is the page that puts the pieces back together in an order you can actually follow.
Quick answers — read this first
What should shape a summer three-row evaluation? Five things: the three-row cabin, front and rear AC, initial cooling, fan-speed changes and seating position. The first four decide when and how to judge, and the fifth decides who judges. The setting comes last.

What is the routine in one line? Ventilate, run both AC zones, wait for the last row, hold the fan still, ask a fresh nose in each seat, and only then change the setting, one step, parked, down before up.

Which page do I read for a weak third row? Front strong, third row weak is the diagnostic order for that complaint. This page is the routine around it, for evaluating any three-row cabin in summer.
The short answer
Short answer: Evaluate in order: the cabin and both AC zones, initial cooling, a steady fan, a fresh nose in each seat. The setting is the last thing you touch, and the first you lower.
The pick: SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 for a setting that can go down as well as up; a mild hanging freshener from ₹509 for one steady use; nothing at all if the air is the problem.
Next step: Tell us your rows, which zones run, how it is cooled and who sits where, and we will write the routine for your vehicle. Ask for a car fragrance recommendation.
Five variables, one routine, the setting lastThe cabin and its AC zones set the path the air takesInitial cooling sets when to judge; fan changes move the readingSeating position sets who hears what, and who should judgeSafar from Rs 3,999 - or a hanging freshener from Rs 509Ventilate, settle, hold the fan, ask by seat, then the setting
The five variables flow downhill into one routine. The first four decide when and how you may judge. The fifth decides who does the judging. Everything above the setting is free and done parked.
Straight answer
How Should Three-Row Cabin, Front and Rear AC, Initial Cooling, Fan-Speed Changes and Seating Position Affect Fragrance Evaluation in Summer?
They decide when you judge, how you judge and who does the judging, and only then whether the setting needs touching. Here is each variable in a line, with the page that goes deeper, and then the routine they add up to.

1. The three-row cabin decides how far the air has to travel. More rows means a longer path and a last row that settles last. See a front that cools quickly and rear rows that take longer and a full seven-seater against a solo drive.

2. Front and rear AC decide which paths exist. One zone leads the air from the front; two put air through every row. Read evaluating only after front and rear AC have established normal airflow and what changes for the third row once rear ventilation is on.

3. Initial cooling decides when you may judge. The first stretch of cooling is setting-up time, and a driver who raises the fan sharply at the start is making a reading of the change. See waiting before judging distribution, the five-variable routine for a summer SUV and an eight-hour parking strategy.

4. Fan-speed changes decide whether a reading means anything. The same setting reads differently in the second and third rows when the rear fan moves. How rear fan speed changes the same setting explains why, and why you hold the fan still while you judge.

5. Seating position decides who hears what. Front and third row are different instruments in different air. The diagnostic order for a strong front and a weak third row comes first, then a method for comparing the rows and what a record of it should contain.

Four of the five are free to act on. The setting is a fifth decision that most households never reach. For the long-journey and whole-variable versions, read intensity for six passengers on an eight-hour trip and the full list of variables.
Ventilate, run both AC zones, wait for the last row, hold the fan still, ask a fresh nose in each seat, then change the setting on SOSA Safar, one step, parked. Judge later, not at the door.
If you want a setting that can go down as well as up once the air is right, that is what SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is for: three speed settings, a one, two or three-hour auto-off timer, cordless on a 2000 mAh Type-C battery, up to ten hours continuous or thirty intermittent per charge. Cold diffusion of pure undiluted oil, no water, no heat.

The products, and where each fits

Two products carry this routine and they suit different vehicles. One gives you a setting you can lower, hold or stop; the other asks nothing of you at all. Neither is sized to a cabin, because SOSA publishes no cabin figure for Safar and this page will not invent one.

For a vehicle where the setting needs to move
SOSA Safar
₹3,999 for SOSA naturals trio, ₹4,499 for hotel-inspired trio. Three speed settings from light to intense and a one, two or three-hour auto-off timer. Fully cordless on a 2000 mAh Type-C battery, up to ten hours continuous or thirty intermittent per charge. Cold diffusion of pure undiluted oil, no water, no heat. About nine centimetres. Aroma only; it does not humidify.
From ₹3,999
For a vehicle in one steady situation: hung once
SOSA Oud Car Freshener
₹509 for hanging 12 ml, ₹509 for car perfume spray, ₹1,499 for 50 ml car perfume spray. One product, three variants: a 12 ml hanging freshener with a mild scent-throw, a spray with a strong scent-throw and a 50 ml car perfume spray. Nothing to set, so there is nothing for a fan or a seat to disturb. For one steady use the mild hanging variant is often the whole answer.
From ₹509
What Safar runs on, and why the routine is gentle on it
SOSA Waterless Nebuliser Refills
₹1,049 for 100 g, ₹1,849 for 300 g. Pure, undiluted, water-free oil for cold-air nebulisers, in sixteen scents: seven hotel-inspired and nine SOSA naturals. Refill life depends on the speed setting and the hours run, so a late start, a low speed and a timer are simply a longer-lived bottle. Top up Safar's bottle from a 100 g refill.

The five variables, three cards

Five variables, three cards. The first card holds the cabin and its AC zones, the second the clock and the fan, the third the seat. None of it needs a cabin figure, and SOSA publishes none for Safar.

1
One
The cabin and its two AC zones: the air path every reading depends on
These two belong together because the cabin decides how far the air must go and the zones decide which routes exist. A seven-seater has a long way from the dashboard to the last row, and in summer the rear rows are the last to reach ordinary. With the front zone alone, the air is led from the front and the back sits at the end of it. With the rear zone on and the vents aimed in, air arrives from more than one direction. Neither of these is a fragrance variable, and neither is a setting. They are the path, and every reading of intensity in every row is a reading of that path first and of the fragrance second. I cannot give numbers for either, and SOSA publishes no cabin figure for Safar.
Tip: Before you judge anything, sit in the last row, parked, with both zones on, and feel whether air is arriving.
SOSA Safar at ₹3,999 is cordless and about nine centimetres, so it can sit out of the line of a front vent while the path is sorted out.
See SOSA Safar →
2
Two
Initial cooling and fan-speed changes: the clock and the dial that move the reading
These two are the things that change while you are trying to judge. Initial cooling is the first stretch of air-conditioning after a hot stand, and it is setting-up time. Anything you conclude during it is a conclusion about a cabin that has not yet become itself. The fan is the dial that moves the reading. A driver who raises it sharply at the start, or a passenger who turns the rear one down to feel less cold, has changed how much air reaches the last row, and the same setting then reads differently in the second and third rows. So the rule is dull: wait for the last row to feel ordinary, then pick a fan speed, write it down and hold it still while anyone judges. All of it parked, none of it a reason to add more.
Tip: Judge on a landmark, not a clock: the last row feels ordinary and the fan has not moved since.
Nothing in this card is for sale, which is the point. When it is time to buy, SOSA Waterless Nebuliser Refills at ₹1,049 for 100 g, ₹1,849 for 300 g is the oil Safar runs on.
See SOSA Waterless Nebuliser Refills →
3
Three
Seating position: who hears what, and who should be the judge
The front and the third row are different instruments in different air. The front sits nearest the source and the dashboard outlets, and the third row sits furthest from both. A nose sitting in a steady smell stops reporting it, so the driver, who has been in the longest, is the least reliable judge in the vehicle, and the person who has just sat down in the third row is the most reliable one for that row. Ask for three words, faint, right or strong, and ask what faint means: absent points to the air, quieter than the front may need nothing. Raising output for the weakest seat raises it first for the seat nearest the source, which is why it goes wrong, and which is why the routine ends where it does.
Tip: Ask the latest arrival, from the quietest row, before you say anything about what you changed.
If the back is still quiet once the air and the placement are right, a mild hanging variant from ₹509 is a small second source for that row alone.
See SOSA Oud Car Freshener →
The SOSA principle
A three-row summer cabin is not a fragrance problem with five parts. It is an air problem with one routine, and the setting is the last stop on it, where the air, the clock, the fan and the seat have already been dealt with.
Which is why the useful question is never how strong it should be. It is whether the air is arriving, whether the cabin has settled, whether the fan is steady and who is being asked.

The routine, step by step

This is a routine, not a result. It is the five variables turned into five steps in an order you can follow on an ordinary hot morning. SOSA has run no test of it and quotes none; run it for a week and judge it by your own passengers.

The SOSA routine
Five variables turned into five steps, in the order to take them
The step, and the variable it answers What to do, parked, and who judges
One: ventilate, and open both AC zones
Every door open, parked, hot air out. Then doors shut, engine on, front and rear zones on, rear vents open and aimed in. This is the cabin and the zones. No fragrance yet.
Two: wait for the last row, because cooling comes first
Landmark, not clock: the last row feels as ordinary as the front. The first stretch of cooling is setting-up time and nobody judges during it.
Three: hold the fan, because it moves the reading
Pick a fan speed, write it down, and leave it. One step up for one journey counts as a single change. A fan that keeps moving means every reading is of the change.
Four: ask by seat, because position decides who hears
A fresh nose in each row, three words, and what faint meant, before you say what changed. The driver writes and does not judge. View →
Five: then the setting, one step, down before up
Only now, parked: the lowest speed that suits, the shortest timer that spans the journey, one change, written down. Then ask the next person who gets in. View →

Five steps is not a laboratory and it is not meant to be. If you want to run it as a proper comparison, how to compare three rows without chasing the weakest seat is the method, and what a useful record of AC mode, fan speed and occupied rows would contain is the sheet. For a complaint already under way, read airflow before output, and if the owner in the question is you, a waterless diffuser, a three-row SUV and a weak third row is the long form. And if you would rather describe your own vehicle and have us write the routine for it, tell us the rows, the zones and who sits where.

Your own five variables, in an email
Tell us your rows, which zones run, how it is cooled, how the fan behaves and who sits where, and we will write you a routine in reply.
See the SOSA SafarAsk for a car fragrance recommendation
Four of the five variables cost nothing to act on. The setting is the last stop on the routine, and for many households it is never reached.

The SOSA specification by vehicle

Three kinds of vehicle, three purchases, and for one of them the answer is nothing. No cabin size appears in this table, because SOSA publishes none for Safar. What is published is control: three speeds, a one, two or three-hour timer, and a battery you charge over Type-C.

Four of the five steps cost nothing, so start there. If the vehicle spends its days in the sun, the eight-hour parking strategy comes first, and if the journey is a long family one, the road-trip page picks up where this one stops. If you do buy, Safar is ₹3,999 for SOSA naturals trio, ₹4,499 for hotel-inspired trio and what you are buying is control, not reach, because SOSA publishes no cabin figure for it. It is aroma only and does not humidify; it does not dehumidify, dry a cabin or do anything about damp either, and if a vehicle smells of something other than hot air, find the source first and let a professional look at anything soaked. A mild hanging variant runs from ₹449 to ₹509 depending on the scent, 15 ml refills are ₹399 for 15 ml, Lemon or Jasmine, ₹429 for 15 ml, Sandalwood, Lavender or Icy Mint, and the discovery set of three is ₹699 for pack of 3 to ₹799. SOSA is not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer and makes no health, wellbeing or driving-related claim of any kind. Settings are changed parked. A note from Sonal

This is the page the other nine in this family feed into, and I wanted it to be short enough to follow. A summer seven-seater produces a great many questions about fragrance, and nearly all of them come down to five things: how many rows there are, which AC zones are running, how the first stretch of cooling went, whether the fan has been moving, and who is sitting where. Notice that none of the five is a question about which scent to buy.

That is not a comfortable thing for a fragrance house to put in writing, but it is the honest shape of the problem. The first four are air and time, and they cost nothing. The fifth is about people, and asking it properly takes only a fresh nose and three words. I would much rather you reached the setting having settled the other four than reached for something to paper over them. If you want the whole of it, the full list of variables for an SUV in Indian conditions is the longest version of this page.

Safar earns its place in the minority of cases where the setting really does need to move: three speed settings and a one, two or three-hour timer, so the answer can be a late start, a low speed and a stop you do not have to remember. I have no published figure for its reach and I am not going to improvise one. A portion of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Which of the five variables matters most?
It depends what you are deciding. For the path the air takes, it is the cabin and the AC zones. For when to judge, it is initial cooling. For whether a reading means anything, it is the fan. For who to ask, it is the seat. None of them is about adding more, which is the point of the whole set.
Does the routine change for a five-seater?
The order does not, and the distances do. Fewer rows means a shorter path and a last row that has less to wait for, so the air step may take less time and a rear zone may matter less. The variables are the same, and the long list of variables, five seats against seven goes through them.
Where do I start if the third row says weak?
With the diagnostic order for exactly that complaint: which zones are open, the fan speed, where the unit sits relative to moving air, how long since start and who is judging. All of it parked, all of it free, and all of it before the setting.
Should I raise the setting for a long family journey?
The opposite, generally. Hours of continuous exposure are nothing like a first impression. For a long drive use a lower speed on SOSA Safar with the timer, start it once the last row is ordinary, and let it switch itself off. Six passengers on an eight-hour trip takes this further.
Can I change the setting while driving if it is too strong?
Please don't. Settings are changed parked, with the handbrake on. If a passenger says it is too much halfway, note it and change it at the next stop, one step at a time, and ask the next person who gets in. One adjustment made parked teaches you more than three made on the move.
