This is the question I most often have to answer in two halves, and the second half disappoints people. One part of a monthly cost is arithmetic you can check on the back of an envelope. The other part is a measurement nobody here has taken, and I am not going to invent it for the sake of a tidier answer.
Quick answers — read this first
What does it cost per month to run a scent machine in a showroom? The electricity is small and fully calculable. The SOSA Vaayu draws 5W. Ten hours a day is 50 watt-hours, which is 0.05 units; across a month that is about 1.5 units. Multiply by your own tariff per unit and you have that line. What I cannot give you is a total, because the oil side has never been measured and published, and a total built on an unmeasured half would be a guess with a rupee sign on it.
Why can't you quote the fragrance oil cost? Two reasons, and both are simply true. SOSA has not measured monthly consumption - it varies with intensity, run hours, cubic volume and how often the doors open - and no cold-air refill oil is sold separately today, so there is no published price per millilitre to multiply even if there were a measured quantity to multiply it by. Two unknowns cannot produce a total. What is known: the machine ships with 4 × 100ml and that 400ml runs 90+ days a fill.
So what can I actually budget? The hardware, once, and honestly: one Vaayu at ₹11,999 including 400ml of oil, or one Sukoon at ₹1,899 under about 750 sq ft, or one Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 under about 300. Then electricity at roughly 1.5 units a month at your tariff. Then a line marked to be confirmed in writing with SOSA for continuing oil supply, and another for AMC, warranty and installation, none of which are published.
The short answer
Short answer: the electricity is arithmetic - the Vaayu draws 5W, so a ten-hour daily schedule is about 1.5 units a month at whatever your own tariff per unit happens to be. A total monthly running cost cannot be quoted honestly, because oil consumption has not been measured or published, no cold-air refill is sold separately yet, and the 400ml supplied runs 90+ days a fill. Confirm continuity of supply with SOSA in writing before you budget.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, supplied with 400ml) for a showroom past about 1,500 sq ft, or one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) below about 750 - with the electricity line calculated from 5W and the oil line left open until SOSA has confirmed continuing supply to you in writing.
Next step: tell us your trading hours and the cubic volume of the display floor, and we will do the electricity arithmetic with your numbers and tell you in writing exactly which cost lines SOSA can and cannot quote today - Ask for a retail scenting plan.
One of these lines you can check yourself in thirty seconds. The other has never been measured, and a supplier who fills it in for you has done arithmetic on a number they invented.
How much does it cost per month to keep a modular kitchen showroom fragranced?
I can answer half of this precisely and I am not going to pretend about the other half. Start with the half that is arithmetic. The SOSA Vaayu is rated at 5W. Run it on a roughly ten-hour daily schedule, which is what most showrooms set their timers to, and that is 5 × 10 = 50 watt-hours a day, or 0.05 units. Across a month, 0.05 × 30 = about 1.5 units. Multiply 1.5 by your own tariff per unit and you have the electricity line, exactly. Two honest flags on that. It is arithmetic from the rating plate rather than a measurement I have taken from a meter in your building - I have not metered a Vaayu on a showroom floor and I am not going to describe a sum as a test result. And the rupee figure is genuinely yours to compute, because tariffs vary by state, by whether the connection is domestic or commercial, and by slab, so any rupee number I printed here would be wrong for most readers by the time they read it. Now the half I cannot give you. A total monthly running cost cannot be quoted honestly, and here is exactly why. SOSA has not measured how much fragrance oil a showroom consumes in a month - it varies with the intensity setting, the daily run hours, the cubic volume of the room and how often the doors open - so there is no measured quantity. And no cold-air refill oil is sold separately today; the machine ships with 4 × 100ml, that 400ml is the entire supply, and it runs 90+ days a fill. So there is no published price per millilitre either. Two unknowns do not multiply into a total, and the supplier who hands you one has either metered your specific showroom for a season or made it up. While we are being precise: the water-based Hotel Collection oils at ₹299, ₹999 and ₹1,799 are ultrasonic only and are never a Vaayu refill, so do not build a cost model out of those prices. What you can budget properly is the hardware, once: ₹11,999 for a Vaayu with 400ml included, or ₹1,899 for a Sukoon under about 750 sq ft, or ₹849 for a Mountain Breeze reed under about 300 - and for a large share of the people who ask me this, one of those two cheaper answers is the right buy and a Vaayu would be the wrong one. Then leave three lines open and get them in writing before you commit: continuity of cold-air oil supply, and AMC, warranty and installation, none of which are published. Two standing limits: none of this covers another smell - not laminate, not adhesive, not cooking - and SOSA does not publish a business-outcome number because it has not measured one, so nobody can tell you what this spend returns. Ask for a retail scenting plan and we will put the answerable lines in writing.
Electricity: 5W on a ten-hour day is about 1.5 units a month, times your own tariff - arithmetic, not a measurement. A total cannot be quoted, because oil consumption is unpublished, no cold-air refill is sold separately yet and the 400ml supplied runs 90+ days a fill. Confirm continuity with SOSA in writing.
The budgetable part is one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - 5W, 400ml supplied, 90+ days a fill, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers so it only draws power while you trade. Under about 750 sq ft buy the ₹1,899 Sukoon instead, and under 300 the ₹849 reed, whose consumable prices are published and easy to plan around.
The capital cost is the part of this question that behaves properly, and it is decided by cubic volume rather than by budget. The images link to the product pages so you can check the specifications and prices yourself.
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 5W, 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app with 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, auto-stop and key-lock. ₹11,999 including 4 × 100ml of oil. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately.
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft, supplied with three 15ml fragrances, at ₹1,899. For a single-room studio this is the correct buy, and the running-cost conversation gets much simpler because the machine costs a sixth of the alternative in the first place.
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, DC 12V/1A and 5W, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified. Made in India. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 4 × 100ml and continuity of supply should be confirmed with SOSA in writing before a budget is built around it.
Three lines, and they behave completely differently. Fill in the first, leave the second open, and put the third in an email to us and get the answer back in writing.

Do the electricity sum yourself
5W on a ten-hour day is about 1.5 units a month
The rating plate says 5W, and the rest is multiplication. Five watts for ten hours is 50 watt-hours, which is 0.05 units a day; thirty days of that is about 1.5 units a month. If you trade twelve hours it is a little more; if the timer runs eight, a little less. Multiply by your own per-unit tariff and the line is done. Two caveats I want on the record: this is arithmetic from the specification rather than a metered measurement of a machine in a showroom, and tariffs vary by state, by connection type and by slab, so the rupee figure has to be yours rather than mine.
Tip: The timers matter here as well as everywhere else - a machine on trading hours is not drawing anything overnight.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
There is no measured quantity and no published price to multiply it by
This is the honest gap and I would rather write it out than paper over it. SOSA has not measured monthly fragrance oil consumption, because it moves with intensity setting, daily run hours, the cubic volume of the room and door traffic - four variables that differ in every building. And no cold-air refill oil is sold separately today: the Vaayu ships with 4 × 100ml, that 400ml is the entire supply, and it runs 90+ days a fill. So the line has no measured quantity and no unit price. It also means the water-based Hotel Collection at ₹299, ₹999 and ₹1,799 is no help - it is ultrasonic only and never a Vaayu refill.
Tip: A supplier who quotes you a monthly oil cost for a showroom they have never metered is quoting you a story.
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
The lines that decide a rollout budget are the ones nobody publishes
Before you build a budget - and especially before you build one for more than one showroom - ask SOSA in writing for four things and wait for the answer. Continuity of cold-air oil supply, because there is no separate refill SKU today and a multi-site plan cannot rest on an assumption. Warranty and AMC terms.Installation and mounting support, which matters if the machine is going into air handling. And bulk pricing, minimum order, GST and corporate invoicing, none of which are published either. I would rather you had all four on an email than in a conversation, and I would say the same about any supplier in this category.
Spare parts and delivery timing are also unpublished - add them to the same email.
A monthly cost here has two lines in it. One is arithmetic anybody can check from a rating plate, and the other is a measurement nobody at SOSA has taken - so the truthful answer is one line filled in and one left visibly blank, rather than a total that merely looks complete.
A blank you can see is a much safer thing to budget against than a number you cannot audit.
The only line I can finish for you: SOSA Vaayu draws 5W, so a ten-hour daily schedule works out at about 1.5 units a month at your own tariff. ₹11,999.
Here is the whole running-cost sheet as I would hand it to you, including the rows I have deliberately left empty.
The SOSA plan
What can be quoted, what cannot, and what to ask for in writing
The line
What to do
Hardware, once
₹11,999 for a Vaayu including 4 × 100ml of oil; ₹1,899 for a Sukoon under about 750 sq ft; ₹849 for a Mountain Breeze reed under about 300. Named in full, nothing hidden.
Electricity, monthly
5W × 10 hours = 50 watt-hours = 0.05 units a day, so about 1.5 units a month. Multiply by your own tariff per unit. Arithmetic from the specification, not a metered reading.
Fragrance oil, monthly
Not quotable. Consumption has not been measured or published, and there is no separately sold cold-air refill to price. What is known: the 400ml supplied runs 90+ days a fill.
Continuing oil supply
No cold-air refill SKU is sold separately today. Confirm continuity with SOSA in writing before you budget, and certainly before you commit to more than one showroom.
AMC, warranty, installation
Not published. Ask for all three in writing, along with spare parts and delivery timing, before signing anything off.
Reed consumables, if that is your answer
Published, so you can do this one yourself: 50ml ₹849 lasting 6-8 weeks, 130ml ₹1,349 lasting 14-18, refills 300ml ₹2,399 and 500ml ₹3,499.
The oil half of this question has a page of its own, and it is worth reading before you accept anybody's figure: how much fragrance oil a showroom uses every month explains exactly why that number does not exist. And if you have not yet settled whether to buy a machine at all, whether a commercial scent machine is worth buying is the prior question and answers no more often than owners expect. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel.
Supplied, not sold separately: The Vaayu ships with 4 × 100ml and that 400ml runs 90+ days a fill. Continuing cold-air refill supply is not yet a published SKU.
I could give you a convincing monthly total in about four seconds. It would be a guess wearing a rupee sign, and somebody would budget a ten-showroom rollout against it.
Three products, three capital costs, and one honest gap that runs through all of the machine answers. Cold-air refill oil is not sold separately today - the Vaayu ships with 4 × 100ml, that 400ml is the entire supply and it runs 90+ days a fill, so confirm continuity of supply with SOSA in writing before you build a budget on it. The water-based Hotel Collection is ultrasonic only and is never a Vaayu refill. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Budget the hardware properly, calculate the electricity yourself from 5W, and leave the oil line open until SOSA has confirmed continuing supply to you in writing. Ambient scent here is a presentation decision like lighting or display styling; it is never used to cover another smell - not laminate, not adhesive, not cooking - and warranty, AMC, installation, spare parts, bulk pricing, minimum order, GST and corporate invoicing terms are not published and must be confirmed with SOSA. And plainly: SOSA does not publish a business-outcome number because it has not measured one, so no one can tell you what this spend returns, and a supplier quoting you a figure is selling. Ask for a retail scenting plan before you spend anything.

A note from Sonal
Owners ask me this expecting a single number, usually because a finance person has asked them for one, and I understand the pressure that puts on the conversation. What I have decided is that I would rather hand over a sheet with one row completed, one row explained and three rows marked "confirm in writing" than a total that reads well in a meeting and falls apart the first time somebody checks it. If that makes SOSA a slightly harder company to buy from this quarter, so be it.
The electricity is genuinely easy and I want you to be able to do it without me. Five watts, ten hours a day, fifty watt-hours, 0.05 units, roughly 1.5 units a month - and then your own tariff, because a Maharashtra commercial connection and a Karnataka domestic one are not the same sum and I have no business printing either. What I will not do is dress that arithmetic up as a measurement. I have not put a meter on a Vaayu on a showroom floor for a month, and if I ever do, I will publish what it says rather than what I hoped it would say.
The oil line is the one that matters for a rollout, and it is blank for two straightforward reasons: nobody here has measured monthly consumption, and there is no cold-air refill sold separately today - the machine comes with 4 × 100ml and that 400ml runs 90+ days a fill. So before you budget, and absolutely before you plan a second or a tenth showroom, ask us in writing about continuity of supply, and about warranty, AMC and installation while you are at it, because none of those are published either. Hardware: a Vaayu at ₹11,999, a Sukoon at ₹1,899 under about 750 sq ft, a Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 under 300. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost per month to keep a kitchen showroom fragranced?
The electricity can be quoted and the oil cannot. The SOSA Vaayu draws 5W, so a ten-hour daily schedule is 50 watt-hours a day, which is 0.05 units, or about 1.5 units a month - multiplied by your own tariff. A total cannot be given honestly, because SOSA has not measured monthly oil consumption and no cold-air refill is sold separately today. The 400ml supplied runs 90 days or more a fill.
How did you work out the electricity figure?
From the rating plate rather than from a meter, and I want that stated plainly. The Vaayu is rated at 5W. Five watts for ten hours is 50 watt-hours a day, which is 0.05 units; across thirty days that is about 1.5 units a month. It is arithmetic rather than a measurement taken in a showroom, and the rupee figure has to be yours because tariffs vary by state, by connection type and by slab.
Why won't you quote a total running cost?
Because half of it has never been measured. Fragrance oil consumption moves with the intensity setting, daily run hours, the cubic volume of the room and door traffic, and SOSA has not metered it. There is also no cold-air refill oil sold separately today, so there is no published price per millilitre to multiply. Two unknowns cannot produce a total, and a supplier who gives you one has either metered your building or invented it.
What happens when the 400ml in the box runs out?
That is exactly the question to put to SOSA in writing before you budget. The Vaayu ships with 4 by 100ml and that 400ml runs 90 days or more a fill, but no cold-air refill oil is currently sold separately, so continuity of supply has to be confirmed rather than assumed. The water-based Hotel Collection oils are ultrasonic only and are never a Vaayu refill, so they do not close this gap.
Is there a cheaper option whose running cost you can quote in full?
Yes. A Mountain Breeze reed at Rs 849 has published prices and published durations at both ends - 50ml lasting 6 to 8 weeks, 130ml at Rs 1,349 lasting 14 to 18 weeks, refills at 300ml for Rs 2,399 and 500ml for Rs 3,499 - so you can do the whole sum yourself. Under about 300 sq ft it is also the correct product rather than a compromise.
Where the sums are much simpler: A Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 has published consumable prices - 300ml ₹2,399, 500ml ₹3,499 - so you can plan it yourself.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.
Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and infection control and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a patient's decision or any commercial outcome. Clinical areas including procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms are left unscented, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
