The minimum: two at ₹3,798, in the living/dining and the master bedroom.
The rule: one per door you close and live behind. Kitchens, bathrooms, balconies and corridors do not count.
2. Two, at ₹3,798, is the minimum I would call a scented flat. Living/dining and master bedroom. That is a legitimate stopping point — as long as you can name the room you are leaving out, which is the second bedroom.
3. The rule is doors, not square feet. One Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft of connected air. Your 900–1,200 sq ft flat is never a single connected volume, so dividing the total by the coverage figure gives you a number with no relationship to how the flat behaves.
4. Kitchens, bathrooms, balconies and corridors do not count. You pass through them rather than live in them. A bathroom is better served by a Boond at ₹899, and a corridor is served by the rooms on either side of it.
5. Nine 15ml Hotel Collection bottles arrive with three machines. Three of your choice with each unit, which is why the count and the fragrance wardrobe grow together and the third machine is never a plain duplicate.

The counting rule, and what does not count
I have tried several ways of explaining diffuser quantity over the years — coverage tables, cubic metres, rules of thumb about ceilings — and the only one that survives contact with a real Indian flat is the simplest. Walk your home in the evening and count the doors you shut behind you. That number is your machine count. Everything below is the detail of applying it honestly rather than optimistically.
How many, by 2BHK size and layout
2BHK is a label rather than a floor plan, and the same two bedrooms behave differently depending on who sleeps in them. Find the row that describes your flat and your household — the number in the middle column is what I would tell you across a table, not what a price list would.
| Your 2BHK | How many | Where they go | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact, around 900 sq ft, second bedroom used as a store | Two | Living/dining and master bedroom — the store room is not a room you live in | ₹3,798 |
| Standard family flat, 950–1,100 sq ft, both bedrooms slept in ★ | Three | Living/dining, master bedroom, second bedroom — nine 15ml scents included | ₹5,697 |
| 1,100–1,200 sq ft with a large open living-dining | Three | As above, with the living/dining unit placed centrally rather than against an end wall | ₹5,697 |
| Second bedroom is a home office you sit in all day | Three | The office earns its machine on hours, not on floor area | ₹5,697 |
| You are out of the house from morning to evening | Two | Master bedroom and living/dining, both on the 2H and 4H timers | ₹3,798 |
| Flatshare — one person per bedroom | Three | One per bedroom door plus the shared living/dining; each person picks their own three scents | ₹5,697 |

The three exceptions to the rule
The first exception is the room nobody lives in. A great many Indian 2BHKs have a second bedroom that is really a store, or a room kept for a parent who visits twice a year. That room fails the second half of the counting rule — you close its door, but you do not live behind it — and buying it a ₹1,899 machine is spending on floor plan rather than on your own experience. Two Sukoons at ₹3,798 is the correct number for that household, and if you want the room to be pleasant when somebody does arrive, a reed diffuser from ₹749 sitting quietly on the chest of drawers is a better use of the money than a machine running to an empty bed.
The second is the household that is out all day. If the flat is empty from nine until eight, the living/dining is doing far less work than its size suggests and the master bedroom is doing almost all of it. Two machines on timers — the living/dining unit set going when you get home, the bedroom unit on low with the 2H timer when you go in to read — will serve that life better than three running through an empty afternoon. This is one of the few cases where I would spend the third ₹1,899 on fragrance instead: a 300ml 300ml refill at ₹1,799, roughly ₹6 per ml against about ₹20 in 15ml bottles, so you never ration the two rooms you use.
The third exception runs the other way and is the one people miss. If your second bedroom is a home office you sit in for eight hours a day, it stops being a spare room and becomes the room with the most waking hours in the flat. Buy it a machine early — arguably before the master bedroom — because fragrance you are awake for is fragrance you experience, and a small room behind a closed door is exactly the kind of enclosed volume a 270–320 sq ft machine handles on its lowest setting. The same logic applies to a child's room that doubles as a study.
The SOSA 2BHK edit
The count as a shopping list, arranged so you can start at any line and move down it over months without anything becoming redundant.
| Buy | What it adds | When | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Two Sukoons ★ | The two rooms with the most hours in them; six 15ml scents between them | First — the minimum that reads as a scented flat | ₹3,798 |
| 2. A third Sukoon | The second bedroom; three more 15ml scents, nine in total | When the second bedroom is genuinely lived in or slept in | ₹1,899 |
| 3. 300ml refill | Your everyday scent across every tank, at about ₹6 per ml | Once one of the included bottles has clearly won | ₹1,799 |
| 4. Reed diffuser | A quiet, plug-free presence in the room still waiting for a machine | As a stopgap, or permanently in a room nobody sleeps in | from ₹749 |
| 5. Boond 300ml | A bathroom, on the fragrance bottles you already own | Only after every room you live in has a machine | ₹899 |
| Not this: a fourth Sukoon | A duplicate machine in a room that already has one | Never in a 2BHK — three doors, three machines | ₹1,899 |
Versailles
People expect me to answer this question with a coverage table and are usually a little disappointed when I answer it with a walk around their own flat. But the table is the thing that misleads. A coverage figure describes connected air, and an Indian 2BHK is one of the least connected homes ever built — three rooms, three doors, and those doors are shut for most of the hours that matter.
So the rule I give everybody is the same one I use at home: count the doors you close and then live behind. It gets a studio to one, a 1BHK to two and a 2BHK to three, and it does it without anybody needing to measure a room. Where I will happily argue you downward is the second bedroom — if it is a store room, do not buy it a machine, buy a reed diffuser and spend the difference on fragrance you will actually smell. The count is a rule about doors, not a target to hit.
Everything is made and supported from Pune, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. You get a home that smells like somewhere you chose; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.
