Every new-car gift is a decision about somebody else's private space, and the only thing that changes between a partner, a parent, a friend and a colleague is how much of that space you have the standing to decide. Sorting the question that way - by licence rather than by budget - settles what to buy, what to say and whether to choose the scent or hand the choice over.
Quick answers — read this first
How should my relationship with the owner change the gift? It changes how much you decide. A partner or sibling can choose the scent; a friend should ask; a colleague or manager should be given options rather than a decision.

Does budget follow the relationship? Loosely. Rs 449 to Rs 700 covers almost every case; only a partner, parent or sibling should go to the SOSA Safar at Rs 3,999 with a Rs 1,049 refill.

What is the same for everybody? Timing and scent physics. Month two or three, dry registers for a car in the sun, one unit per car, and never in front of a vent.
The short answer
Short answer: New-car gifts are best sorted by how much of the owner's private space the giver has standing to decide. A partner, sibling or parent can choose the scent outright; a friend should ask where the car parks; a colleague or manager should receive options - a discovery set of three sprays at Rs 699 or a car perfume spray at Rs 549 - rather than a decision. Budget follows loosely: Rs 449 to Rs 700 covers almost every case, with the SOSA Safar at Rs 3,999 plus a Rs 1,049 refill reserved for close relationships. Timing and scent physics are identical for everybody: month two or three, dry registers in heat, one unit per car.
The pick: a SOSA return gift - consumable, no shelf space, from ₹299 a head.
Bulk: 10 to 200+ pieces quoted on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. Rates are not published here.
New-car gifts - at a glanceNever to mask the new-car smell - most owners like it, and it fadesMonth two or three, not delivery day - that is the honest timingA car in Indian sun amplifies sweetness. Dry registers winFrom ₹449 · hanging, spray or the Safar
A car is usually a saved-for decision made without anybody else's input, which is why a small gift for it lands harder than a large gift for a house. Two things decide whether it works. Do not buy fragrance to cover the new-car smell - most owners like it and it goes on its own within a few weeks, so month two or three is the honest moment. And choose a dry, green or marine register, because a car standing in Indian sun amplifies sweetness past what a driver can escape. Car fragrance starts at Rs 449, and anything can be checked on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 first.
Straight answer
How does the relationship change a new-car gift?
It decides how much you decide. Partner, sibling, parent: choose the scent - a hanging car perfume ₹449 to ₹509, or the SOSA Safar ₹3,999 with a refill ₹1,049. Friend: ask where they park, then buy. Colleague or manager: give options, never a decision - a discovery set ₹699 or the spray ₹549, ideally pooled. Identical for everybody: month two or three, one unit, dry registers in sun, never at a vent. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
Not what to buy. How much of their car you have the standing to decide. From Rs 449.
If you want one answer for a mixed guest list: hanging car perfume from ₹449, because almost every adult guest drives and almost nobody has done anything about their car. Bulk quantities quoted on WhatsApp.

Relationship decides how much of the car you are allowed to decide

Most gift guides sort by budget, which is the least informative variable in this category, because almost everything worth giving for a car costs between four hundred and fifty and seven hundred rupees. The variable that actually changes the answer is standing: how much of somebody's private space you are entitled to decide. A car is unusual in this respect. It is the one place an adult controls completely - not shared with a household, not negotiated with anybody, occupied alone most of the time - so anything you put in it is a decision made inside somebody else's private room. Whether that is charming or presumptuous depends entirely on who you are. Which produces a ladder. At the top are the people who can simply choose: a partner, a sibling, a parent, a child. They know the owner's taste, they are in the car often, and a decision made by them is read as familiarity rather than intrusion. A partner has the strongest claim of all, because they will be sitting in that car every weekend for years - which makes them a stakeholder rather than a giver, and makes a scent chosen together the most honest version. A parent has the weakest claim in this group, not for lack of closeness but because a parent's choices carry an extra implication of instruction, which is why handing over the decision usually plays better from a parent than making it. In the middle sits the friend, and the rule there is simply to ask. A friend can say where do you park the car during the day and do you hate anything sweet, and the answers settle the entire purchase. Asking is not a failure of imagination between friends; it is the advantage a friend has over everybody else buying for the same occasion, and it is far less awkward than getting it wrong. At the bottom of the ladder are colleagues and managers, and the rule reverses completely. Here you do not choose at all. A gift to a colleague is read by the rest of the team, a gift to a manager travels up a reporting line and is read as positioning however it was meant, and in both cases anything that imposes taste on a private space is the wrong move. The correct form is options rather than a decision - a discovery set of three sprays at six hundred and ninety-nine rupees, or the Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray at five hundred and forty-nine rupees, which does nothing at all unless the owner uses it. Pooling with two or three others improves it further, because it removes any question of individual closeness and sets no precedent for anybody. Budget follows this ladder loosely rather than strictly. Four hundred and forty-nine to seven hundred rupees is right for almost everybody, and it is not a compromise band: nothing available is proportionate to a car anyway, so a well chosen small object with a specific sentence attached beats an expensive one given without comment, at every level of the ladder. The one place a larger gift belongs is a close relationship where a car genuinely matters - a partner, a parent, a sibling, a friend of twenty years who has been driving a dying car for a decade. There the SOSA Safar at three thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees is a waterless car diffuser and the one product this shop recommends at the premium level without qualification, and it should be given with a nebuliser refill at one thousand and forty-nine rupees rather than empty, because a premium gift that needs a consumable ordered before it works is a task in a box. The SOSA Vaayu at eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees is a commercial nebuliser built for spaces of roughly a thousand cubic metres - showrooms, lobbies, clinics - and is never a car gift, at any budget and for any relationship. Two things do not vary at all, and they are worth stating once for every case on the ladder. The first is scent physics. A car holds a few cubic metres of sealed air, stands in the sun for hours, reaches temperatures nothing in a house comes close to, and the occupants are strapped in and cannot walk away from anything. Heat pushes sweetness forward dramatically and burns the light fresh parts off first, so dry, green, citrus and marine registers behave and gourmand ones become oppressive. The eight hanging car perfumes run four hundred and forty-nine to five hundred and nine rupees: Jasmine four hundred and forty-nine, Lavender and Sandalwood four hundred and seventy-nine, Icy Mint four hundred and eighty-nine, Lemon four hundred and ninety-nine, Vetiver, Sea Breeze and Oud five hundred and nine. Icy Mint and Sea Breeze are the coolest and safest, Lemon is the clean citrus, Vetiver is the driest and most grown-up. Sandalwood and Oud are the rich pair and belong in a car kept in a basement or covered parking. One unit is the right dose for an ordinary car, two is usually too much by May, and nothing should hang in front of an air conditioning vent, where a gentle release becomes a blast every time the fan runs and the product empties far faster. If the car carries children, keep it out of reach and avoid anything sweet. If the owner wears perfume with any care, keep the car quiet, because a long drive puts a little of the cabin onto clothes and hair. The second constant is timing, and it is the rule that governs every page in this cluster. Do not give car fragrance in the first weeks to cover the new-car smell. Owners like it, it fades on its own within a few weeks as the interior settles, and anything arriving in that window either competes with a pleasure they are having or implies the car needed correcting. Delivery day is also the most crowded moment there is - relatives, photographs, a puja in many families, the dealership's own accessory bundle - so a gift given then is one of many. Month two or three is the honest window and the empty one, and it applies equally whether you are a spouse or somebody two desks away. Last, one thing that scales with the ladder in the opposite direction to price, and matters more than any of it. The closer you are, the more specific the sentence you can write, and the sentence is the part that gets remembered. A partner can mention the variant they held out for. A sibling can mention the car that broke down on a highway. A friend can mention fifteen years of an indicator that never worked. A colleague can say congratulations on the car and should stop there. The object is only what carries the sentence into the car and repeats it every day afterwards. And the boundary that holds for everybody at every level: fragrance is a finishing touch, never a fix - if a car smells of something with a cause, the cause is the job.

1
The top of the ladder chooses
Partner, sibling, parent, child
They know the taste and are in the car often, so a decision reads as familiarity rather than intrusion. A partner is a stakeholder - they will be in it every weekend for years.
Tip: A parent is the exception: their choices carry an implication of instruction, so handing over the decision plays better.
2
The middle asks
Which is a friend's advantage
Where do you park during the day, and do you hate anything sweet. Two questions settle the whole purchase.
3
The bottom gives options, never decisions
Colleagues and managers
A colleague's gift is read by the team; a manager's travels up a reporting line and is read as positioning however it was meant.
Tip: So: a ₹699 set or the ₹549 spray, pooled between several people.
The SOSA principle
The closer you are, the more specific the sentence you can write - and the sentence is the part that gets remembered.
A partner can mention the variant they held out for. A colleague should say congratulations on the car and stop there.

The SOSA new-car gift ladder
What to give a new-car owner - by how much you know about their taste and how much time they spend in the car
Gift What it suits Why it works for a new car From
Jasmine hanging car perfume The entry gift · ₹449 The cheapest car item in the range and a complete gift on its own - floral rather than sweet, and best in a car that is parked in shade ₹449
Icy Mint hanging car perfume Safest in Indian heat Cool and dry, which is the register that holds up after an afternoon in the sun - the one to choose when you are guessing ₹489
Vetiver hanging car perfume Somebody who dislikes sweet Earthy and dry, the most grown-up of the eight, and the least likely to tire over a long daily commute ₹509
Car discovery set (pack of 3) You do not know their taste Three sprays so the owner picks - the sensible move, because a car is the least forgiving fragrance space there is ₹699
Mysore Orange Blossom car spray Somebody particular about the car Applied by hand when they want it rather than working continuously - which suits an owner who controls everything about the interior ₹549
SOSA Safar waterless car diffuser Hours a week behind the wheel The premium car object almost nobody buys for themselves - and it should be given with a nebuliser refill rather than empty ₹3,999

A note from Sonal

We sell a lot of car fragrance and we talk people out of buying it more often than you would expect. The reason is always the same. Somebody has just taken delivery, the car has that specific smell of a new interior, and the instinct is to buy something to put in it straight away. Please do not. Most owners like that smell, it fades on its own within a few weeks, and something arriving on top of it reads as though you thought their new car needed fixing. Month two or three, once it has started to smell of ordinary use, is the moment - and it has a second advantage, which is that everybody else has finished congratulating them by then.

The other thing people get wrong is the register. A car is not a small room. It holds a few cubic metres of air, it sits sealed in the sun for hours, and heat does something to sweetness that has to be experienced to be believed - and unlike a room, the driver cannot walk away from it. Dry, green, citrus and marine compositions behave. If you are guessing, guess cool. And one is the right number: two of anything in a car is usually too much by May.

Two honest things. Fragrance is a finishing touch and never a fix - if a car smells of damp, of something spilled under a seat or of smoke, deal with the cause and then scent a clean car, because adding one to the other is worse than either alone. And our Vaayu is not a car product. It is a waterless nebuliser built for roughly a thousand cubic metres - a showroom rather than a vehicle or a flat - and we would rather say so than sell you one. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with the car and what they usually wear. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Frequently asked questions

How should the relationship change a new-car gift?
It changes how much you decide. A partner or sibling can choose the scent, a friend should ask, and a colleague or manager should be given options instead.
Does the budget change much?
Not really. Rs 449 to Rs 700 fits almost every relationship. Only a partner, parent or sibling should go to the SOSA Safar at Rs 3,999 with a Rs 1,049 refill.
What is identical for everybody?
Scent physics and timing. Dry registers in a hot car, one unit per car, never in front of a vent, and month two or three rather than delivery day.
Why give a colleague options rather than a scent?
Because a colleague gift is read by the whole team and imposing taste on somebody's private space is the wrong move at that distance.
What matters more than the object?
The sentence attached to it, and how specific it can be - which is the one thing that genuinely scales with closeness.
A gift that marks what they did
