Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 11 min read Updated September 2026
Fifteen kilometres to work sounds like a small commute, and on the odometer it is. But the odometer is measuring the wrong thing for you. You are in the car for the twenty minutes of the drive and then again for an hour while it charges, with the doors shut and a call running. Mileage stopped describing your use of the car some time ago. Occupied cabin time is the number that describes it, and once you have that number the fragrance question becomes arithmetic instead of guesswork - because occupied time is when a person is present to experience anything at all.
SOSA car perfume, spray or hanging, from Rs 449
SOSA car perfume · spray or hanging, same price · nine scents from ₹449 →
The decision behind almost every version of this question, and it is not about the car: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and more at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, published at 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Nothing here changes with the powertrain.
Quick answers — read this first
Should car fragrance be chosen by distance driven or by time spent inside? By time inside, every time. A fragrance sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it, so the only hours it can do anything in are the hours somebody is there. Fifteen kilometres and two hours inside is a heavier use of a cabin than fifty kilometres and forty minutes. A 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 holds 100 sprays, and the sensible way to spend them is per occupied block rather than per trip.

If I sit in the car for an hour of calls, should I spray more? More often is not the same as more. One spray at the start of an occupied block is one spray, whether that block is twenty minutes or two hours - the published fine-mist atomizer is stated as one spray covering the cabin. Spraying again halfway through is a second spray, and at two a day the published 100 sprays becomes 50 days rather than three months and above. That is the whole trade-off, and it is division rather than opinion.

Does it matter that the hour is spent at a charger? No. Charging is not a fragrance variable and SOSA publishes nothing about it. What matters is that you are inside a stationary car with the doors shut for an hour. An hour parked outside a school with the engine off would be the same situation, and the honest variable in both is ventilation - whether any air is moving through the cabin while you sit in it.
The short answer
Short answer: Use occupied cabin time, not kilometres. A commuter who drives 15 km but sits inside for calls is using the cabin more heavily than the distance suggests. A SOSA 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays, so spend one per occupied block rather than one per journey. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 - 100 sprays, spent one per occupied block, which is the unit that actually describes how you use this car.
Why: Distance measures the car's work. Occupied hours measure yours, and a fragrance can only reach a person who is in the cabin at the time.
What the car runs on is not the variable. How it is used is.On demand - 10ml spray ₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 spraysContinuous - 12ml hanging, same price, 4 to 6 weeksVentilate a hot or long-shut cabin before you judge itNever - fragrance instead of finding a smell's source
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
Straight answer
I drive only 15 kilometres to work but remain inside the EV for calls during charging breaks - should total occupied cabin time determine fragrance intensity rather than kilometres driven?
Yes - and you are describing one of the few commutes where the distinction changes the answer rather than merely sharpening it. Fifteen kilometres is roughly twenty minutes of driving each way, so your journeys account for about forty minutes. The hour you spend inside the parked car on a call is not a journey at all, and yet it is the single longest block of time anybody sits in that cabin all day. Counted honestly, you are an occupant for around two hours and a driver for forty minutes, and almost every car fragrance decision made on mileage would get your car wrong. So set the unit correctly: one spray per occupied block, not one per trip. The 10ml spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, and it is published at 100 sprays - which SOSA states as 3 months and above at one spray a day and 50 days at two a day. One as you set off in the morning is the three-month bottle. One in the morning and one again as the call block starts is the fifty-day bottle. Both are legitimate; only one of them is what you expected when you bought it, and knowing which you are doing is more useful than any strength claim. On intensity itself, be careful what you ask the product to do. The spray is published as a fine-mist atomizer where one spray covers the cabin, and SOSA publishes no scent-throw, projection or coverage figure beyond that, so there is no dial marked intensity to turn. The real control over a cabin you are sitting in for an hour is ventilation - a window cracked or the fan on fresh air while you talk - and after that, the 12ml hanging at the same price, whose stopper loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler across its published 4 to 6 weeks. The car being electric does not enter this: SOSA publishes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim, and the charging break matters only because it is an hour with the doors shut, which a petrol car waiting outside an office would match exactly. And fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Count the hours you sit, not the kilometres you cover. One spray per occupied block is the unit that fits.
The quick version: count occupied hours rather than kilometres, then spend the count per block. A 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 holds 100 sprays - three months and above at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging at the same price runs 4 to 6 weeks and covers the long seated blocks without being asked.

Three numbers, and the odometer is not one of them

Your car has three numbers attached to it and only one of them appears on the dashboard. Distance is the loudest and the least useful here, because a fragrance cannot reach a person who is not in the cabin. Work through the other two first.

01
Occupied hours
The only hours in which a fragrance can reach anybody
Count them for a week and the picture changes. Twenty minutes each way is forty minutes of driving; an hour of calls in a stationary car is an hour; a second call block on a busy day makes it more. You are an occupant for something close to two hours a day in a car that only travels fifteen kilometres, which is heavier cabin use than many people with three times the mileage. This matters because every other measure of a car fragrance - how long it keeps going, how persistent it is - describes what happens when nobody is there. Occupied hours are the hours you are actually buying.
Tip: A cabin nobody is sitting in cannot be experiencing anything.
02
The unit you spend in
One spray per occupied block, rather than one per journey
This is the practical correction, and it is where the published count does the work. A 10ml is 100 sprays, stated as 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two a day. A person who thinks in journeys sprays on the way in, on the way out and again before the call block, which is three a day and a bottle gone in about a month. A person who thinks in occupied blocks sprays once as the morning begins and perhaps once more if the afternoon block is long. The spray itself is published as a fine-mist atomizer where one spray covers the cabin, so the second and third presses are buying frequency rather than reach. Work out your own rate before you decide a bottle underperformed, because the rate is the only thing that changed.
03
What an hour with the doors shut actually needs
Ventilation is the control, and it is free
An hour seated in a stationary cabin is the one situation in this bank where the occupant is present for the entire duration, and it is worth being plain about what SOSA does and does not publish for it. There is no coverage figure, no scent-throw distance and no claim about how a scent is perceived over an hour, so any page that tells you what the cabin will be like at minute fifty is inventing it. What is available to you is simpler and better: move some air. A cracked window or the fan drawing fresh air changes the cabin far more than any adjustment to a fragrance would, and the person best placed to judge the result is whoever gets in next - a passenger notices what a regular occupant has stopped registering.
Tip: For an hour in a shut cabin, the window is a bigger lever than the bottle.
SOSA Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray, 10ml and 50ml
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
See Mysore Orange Blossom from ₹549 →
Work it out in this order
Count the hours, set the unit, then pick the size
  1. Log a week: minutes driving, minutes seated in the parked car with doors shut.
  2. Set the unit to one spray per occupied block, not one per journey.
  3. Check the rate against 100 sprays. One a day is 100 days; two a day is 50.
  4. For a long block, open a window before you reach for anything else.
The SOSA principle
Fifteen kilometres and two hours inside is a heavy user of a cabin wearing the badge of a light one. Buy for the hours, not the odometer.
And spend the hundred sprays per occupied block, which is the unit your day is actually made of.

Which scent and which size, when the car is more office than journey

With format and scent priced together, this comes down to what you want to be sitting in for two hours rather than what survives a drive. The softer options are Lavender at ₹479, published as the softest of the nine, and Jasmine at ₹449. The bright ones are Lemon at ₹499, Icy Mint at ₹489 and Sea Breeze at ₹509. The deep end runs Sandalwood at ₹479, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud at ₹509, Oud published as the deepest in the range. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only and has no hanging version. For somebody spending long blocks in the cabin, the Discovery Set from ₹699 is the cheapest way to find out which character holds up across an hour rather than across a drive - nine published combinations, and those nine are the whole set range.

The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to handle two hours a day in a stationary cabin, and where each fails
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
One spray per occupied block, ₹449 to ₹549 The unit that matches the day. 100 sprays, so three months and above at one a day. It fails if your blocks are long and you expect the first press to be doing the same work at minute fifty - SOSA publishes nothing about that, and neither does this page.
A spray before every journey and every block Honest about wanting the cabin handled constantly. It fails on arithmetic: three presses a day turns a published 100-spray bottle into roughly a month, which is a choice rather than a fault, but only if you made it deliberately.
A 12ml hanging, the same price Runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously, so the long call block is covered without you doing anything, and the stopper sets the level. It fails because most of its output still goes into an empty parked car, and because it cannot be turned down for one particular call.
The window down and nothing sprayed The strongest single lever on a cabin you are sitting in for an hour, and it costs nothing. It fails as an answer to the question asked, because moving air is not the same as adding a scent - it changes the cabin without fragrancing it.
SOSA Lavender car perfume, spray and hanging formats
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
See SOSA car perfumes from ₹449 →

Size is worth a second thought for somebody using the cabin this heavily. The 50ml spray at ₹1,499 is published at 500 sprays and about a year and more, and it is the right buy once your own rate is known rather than assumed - which takes a month of watching a 10ml. There is no spray refill, so the 50ml is a commitment rather than a top-up; the hanging is the format with refills, 15ml at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents, and Orange Blossom has none. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India.

SOSA car perfume spray 10ml, from Rs 449
₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 sprays. Fragrance you decide to have, journey by journey - which is the format that suits a car occupied an hour or two a day.
from ₹449
SOSA car hanging perfume 12ml, from Rs 449
The same price as the spray, published at 4 to 6 weeks in a refillable glass bottle. The stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler - which is the only strength control SOSA publishes.
from ₹449
SOSA Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set, from Rs 699
Three sprays from ₹699, or all nine at ₹2,999. Nine published combinations and those nine are the whole range - you pick from them, you do not assemble one.
from ₹699
The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.

The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
Product What it is What it is for Price
SOSA car perfume spray - 10ml Fragrance you switch on ₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin from ₹449
SOSA car hanging - 12ml Fragrance that simply runs The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler from ₹449
SOSA car perfume spray - 50ml The long-run size ₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out ₹1,499
Car perfume combos Two scents, one purchase ₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs from ₹899
Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set Three to try ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays, or ₹2,999 for all nine. Nine published combinations, and those nine are the whole range - none is composed to order from ₹699
Hanging refills - 15ml Only the hanging refills ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you from ₹399
SOSA Safar The powered option ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder from ₹3,999

The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

What the SOSA car pages publish, and what they do not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
  • Nine scents, two formats, one price each - Jasmine ₹449; Lavender and Sandalwood ₹479; Icy Mint ₹489; Lemon ₹499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze ₹509. Each is sold as a spray or a hanging at the same price. Mysore Orange Blossom is ₹549 and is spray only.
  • The published quantities - a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, stated as 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two a day. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more, at ₹1,499. A spray combo is 200 sprays, stated as 100 days at two a day rotating. These are the only usage figures SOSA gives.
  • The hanging - 4 to 6 weeks (28 to 42 days) of continuous diffusion per 12ml bottle, in refillable glass, and the stopper adjusts the strength: loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler.

A note from Sonal

We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.

What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.

So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.

And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.

Frequently asked questions

Should fragrance intensity be based on how long I sit in the car?
Base the frequency on it, because intensity is not something SOSA publishes a control for. The spray is described as a fine-mist atomizer where one spray covers the cabin, and there is no coverage, scent-throw or projection figure beyond that. What you can vary is how often you press it, and the 12ml hanging has a stopper that loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Those are the only two levers that exist.
I drive 15 km but spend two hours in the car. How many sprays is that?
That is your decision, and the published count makes it easy to price. A 10ml is 100 sprays, which SOSA states as 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two a day. One spray per occupied block, with two blocks a day, is the fifty-day pattern. One in the morning only is the three-month pattern. Neither is wrong; they are different bottles.
Does taking calls in the car while it charges change anything?
Only in that you are inside a stationary car with the doors shut, which is the part that matters. Charging is not a fragrance variable and SOSA publishes nothing about it. The same hour spent parked outside a building with nothing plugged in would present exactly the same situation, and in both cases ventilation is the control you actually have.
Is a hanging better for somebody who sits in the car a lot?
It has a real advantage here: the long seated block is covered without you having to remember anything, and it runs 4 to 6 weeks per 12ml bottle with the stopper adjusting the level. Its limit is the same as always - it goes on running through the twenty-odd hours nobody is in the car. It costs the same as the spray for the same scent, so this is a preference rather than a saving.
Should I buy the 50ml since I use the car so much?
Not yet. The 50ml is Rs 1,499 and holds 500 sprays, stated as about a year and more, and it is the correct size once you know your rate. Until you have watched a 10ml go down for a month you are guessing, and there is no spray refill, so a 50ml commits you to a routine you have not tested.

Specifications verified from the live SOSA product pages, September 2026: SOSA publishes nine car perfume scents. Eight are sold in two formats at the same price per scent - a 10ml spray and a 12ml hanging: Jasmine ₹449; Lavender and Sandalwood ₹479; Icy Mint ₹489; Lemon ₹499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze ₹509. Mysore Orange Blossom is spray only, ₹549 in 10ml. A 50ml spray is ₹1,499. The published quantities are: 10ml equals 100 sprays, stated as three months and above at one spray a day and fifty days at two a day; 50ml equals 500 sprays, stated as about a year and more; a spray combo is 200 sprays; and a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks, that is 28 to 42 days, of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle whose stopper loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. Four combos are published - Jasmine & Lemon and Jasmine & Lavender at ₹899, Oud + Lemon and Sandalwood & Oud at ₹949 - each as a spray combo of 2 x 10ml or a hanging combo of 2 x 12ml at the same price. The Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set publishes nine combinations, ₹699 to ₹899 for three and ₹2,999 for all nine; those nine are the entire set range and none is composed to order. Hanging refills are 15ml at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents; there is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India. SOSA Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
