Two people can cover the same twelve kilometres and have completely different fragrance problems, and the odometer will not tell you which is which. One of them did it in eighteen minutes on an empty flyover; the other spent seventy minutes in it. The second person is inside a closed cabin for almost four times as long, breathes the same air for almost four times as long, and will form an opinion about a car perfume that the first person never gets close to forming. Distance is a measure of the road. Fragrance happens to the person, and the unit for that is minutes.
The decision behind almost every version of this question, and it is not about the car: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and more at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, published at 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Nothing here changes with the powertrain.
Quick answers — read this first
Should car fragrance be chosen by time in the cabin rather than distance? Yes, because the fragrance is experienced by a person in a closed volume of air and not by the wheels. A SOSA 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and holds 100 sprays, so it is tied to occasions rather than to kilometres. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks whether the car moves or not.
Does slow, stop-start city driving change what fragrance to buy? Not in the way the question implies, and there is no published claim to that effect. What slow traffic actually changes is how many minutes a day somebody sits in the cabin with the windows shut. A short distance done slowly is a long occupancy, and occupancy is the variable worth buying on.
How many sprays does a low-kilometre, high-minutes driver get through? It depends on journeys, not on distance. A 10ml is 100 sprays, published as 3 months and above at one spray a day and 50 days at two a day. Six short crawling errands with a spray before each is a very different rate from one spray each morning, and only one of them matches the published figure.
The short answer
Short answer: Choose on minutes inside the cabin, not on kilometres covered. Slow traffic makes a short commute a long occupancy. A SOSA 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays, which is 3 months and above at one a day. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously.
Why: Minutes in a shut cabin are what a person experiences; distance is what the road did. The spray lets you match the fragrance to the occupied stretch.
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
I drive in heavy stop-start city traffic and cover relatively few kilometres, but I spend a long time sitting in the car. Should I choose and judge car fragrance on the minutes I am actually inside the cabin rather than on the distance I travel?
Yes, and it is the more accurate of the two measures by a wide margin. Fragrance is experienced by a person sitting in a closed volume of air, and the length of that experience is measured on a clock. A twelve-kilometre crawl that takes seventy minutes each way is over two hours a day of occupied cabin; the same twelve kilometres at speed is under forty minutes. Same car, same distance, three times the exposure. A SOSA 10ml spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon and ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, with Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 and spray only, and every one of them is published at 100 sprays - which the pages set out as 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. Notice what that figure is counted in: sprays, not kilometres. A bottle is consumed by occasions, so the person doing six slow errands a day and spraying before each one empties it in a fraction of the time the low-mileage figure would suggest. If long occupied stretches are the pattern, the 12ml hanging at the same price for the same scent deserves a proper look: it runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in refillable glass and its stopper is the strength control, loosened for stronger and tightened for subtler, which matters more over seventy minutes than over eighteen. Two honest limits. None of this follows from how the car is powered, because SOSA publishes no powertrain claim and no petrol, diesel or electric product. And fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, so a cabin that has started smelling of something new is a question about the car rather than about the bottle. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Twelve kilometres at a crawl is a long occupancy. Buy for the clock, not the odometer.
The quick version: a 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 when you want to decide journey by journey - it holds 100 sprays, which is three months and above at one a day. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks on its own, with the stopper to adjust it. The 50ml at ₹1,499 is 500 sprays, once you know your rate.
The category sells duration and the buyer arrives thinking in distance, and the two of them miss each other completely. Three things decide this, and the first is simply agreeing on what is being measured.
01
Minutes, not kilometres
The clock measures the experience; the odometer measures the road
This is the whole reframe and it takes one line of arithmetic. A twelve-kilometre crawl at ten kilometres an hour is over an hour inside; the same twelve kilometres at forty is eighteen minutes. The person in the first car has roughly four times the exposure to whatever the cabin smells of, and will judge a fragrance on a far longer sample than the person in the second. If you have been reading advice written around long-distance driving and finding it does not fit, this is why - low kilometres and high hours is a real and common pattern in Indian cities, and almost nothing in the category is written for it.
Tip: A short drive done slowly is a long drive as far as the cabin is concerned.
02
The count on the bottle
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and that is counted in occasions
Here is the useful consequence of measuring in journeys rather than distance. A 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and the 50ml holds 500 and is published at about a year and more, at ₹1,499. The published working is 3 months and above at one spray a day, 50 days at two a day. A bottle does not know how far the car went; it knows how many times the top was pressed. So somebody covering three hundred kilometres a month across twenty short errands can get through a bottle faster than somebody covering a thousand across ten long ones. Work out your own rate in occasions before you decide whether a bottle is lasting.
03
What is not the variable
The drivetrain has nothing to do with it, and neither does the traffic itself
Worth saying plainly, because the question usually arrives wrapped in vehicle detail. SOSA publishes no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product, and makes no claim that a fragrance behaves differently in any of them. A perfume sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it, and that volume does not know what is turning the wheels. Nor is the traffic itself doing anything to the fragrance - what the traffic does is lengthen the time somebody is shut in with it. That is the mechanism, and it is entirely about occupancy. The variables that genuinely change the answer here are minutes inside, whether the windows are open, how many separate journeys there are and who else is in the car.
Tip: Slow traffic does not change the fragrance. It changes how long you are in there with it.
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
Measure it in this order and the format chooses itself
Time one ordinary commute each way. Minutes, not kilometres, on both legs.
Add up the minutes a day somebody is inside with the windows shut.
Count journeys, not distance: that is what a 100-spray bottle is spent on.
Then pick spray or hanging. Same price either way, so it is not a money question.
The SOSA principle
A fragrance is judged by a person in a closed cabin over a measured number of minutes. Kilometres are a fact about the road, not about the experience.
Which is why the low-kilometre, high-hours driver is the one most often disappointed by advice written for the opposite pattern.
Nine scents, two formats, and what a long slow hour argues for
Because the spray and the hanging cost the same for the same scent, the choice of scent is free rather than a compromise, and over a long occupied hour it matters more than over a short one. Lavender at ₹479 is published as the softest of the range and Jasmine at ₹449 sits near it. Lemon at ₹499, Icy Mint at ₹489 and Sea Breeze at ₹509 are the bright end. Sandalwood at ₹479, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud at ₹509 are the deep end, with Oud published as the deepest. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only, so if you want a hanging it is not on the list.
The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to handle a long slow hour, and where each one gives out
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
One spray as the journey starts, ₹449 to ₹549
The simplest match to an occupied stretch - 100 sprays, so three months at one a day. It gives out when the traffic makes the journey so long that you would rather the cabin kept itself scented without your involvement.
One spray each way
Fifty days at two a day, published. Honest and predictable. It gives out on cost of attention rather than money, because on a bad traffic day you will reach for it a third time and the bottle count moves with you.
A 12ml hanging with the stopper tightened
Continuous for 4 to 6 weeks and adjustable, which suits a long shut-in hour. It gives out if you share the car or want the cabin quiet on some journeys, because it does not stop between trips.
A hanging plus a spray kept in the door
The combination the product pages themselves describe: a baseline that runs, and a top note you decide on. Two purchases rather than one, and for a single-driver car it is often more control than the pattern needs.
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
One practical difference settles the format for some people regardless of the arithmetic above. 15ml refills exist for the hanging at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents, in a refillable glass bottle, and there is no spray refill at all - a spray is replaced rather than topped up, and Orange Blossom has no refill in either form. Everything in the range is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity. If it is going to somebody else, custom label or logo on product is the one branding option - no custom box, no printed sleeve, no insert card.
₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 sprays. Fragrance you decide to have, journey by journey - which is the format that suits a car occupied an hour or two a day.
The same price as the spray, published at 4 to 6 weeks in a refillable glass bottle. The stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler - which is the only strength control SOSA publishes.
Three sprays from ₹699, or all nine at ₹2,999. Nine published combinations and those nine are the whole range - you pick from them, you do not assemble one.
from ₹699
The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.
The odometer measures what the road did. The clock measures what happened to the person. Only one of them is buying the perfume.

The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin
The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler
₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out
₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs
₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you
₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder
from ₹3,999
The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. What the SOSA car pages publish, and what they do not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The published quantities - a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, stated as 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two a day. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more, at ₹1,499. A spray combo is 200 sprays, stated as 100 days at two a day rotating. These are the only usage figures SOSA gives.
The hanging - 4 to 6 weeks (28 to 42 days) of continuous diffusion per 12ml bottle, in refillable glass, and the stopper adjusts the strength: loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler.
Combos and the Discovery Set - four published pairs at ₹899 and ₹949, as a spray combo (2 x 10ml) or a hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. The Discovery Set is ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays and ₹2,999 for all nine. Those nine combinations are the entire set range and none is composed to order.
Refills - 15ml hanging refills at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill.
The formulation - alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India.

A note from Sonal
We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.
What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.
So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.
And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.
Frequently asked questions
Should I choose car perfume based on how long I sit in the car or how far I drive?
On how long you sit in it. A fragrance is experienced by a person in a closed cabin, and the length of that experience is measured in minutes. A twelve-kilometre crawl can be an hour each way while the same distance at speed is under twenty minutes, so distance tells you very little about how much fragrance anybody is actually getting.
Does heavy city traffic make a car perfume run out faster?
Not by itself. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays and is consumed by how many times you press it, not by how long the car is stationary. What traffic changes is how often you feel like reaching for it. One spray a day is the published 3 months and above; two a day is 50 days.
Does an electric hatchback change any of this?
No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and makes no claim that a fragrance behaves differently according to what turns the wheels. The variables that genuinely differ between two owners are minutes occupied, parking, ventilation and how many people share the car.
Is the hanging better for long slow journeys?
It is the more suitable shape for them rather than the better product, and it costs the same as the spray for the same scent. It runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion per 12ml bottle and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler, which is worth having over a long shut-in hour.
Which scents does SOSA publish and at what price?
Jasmine Rs 449; Lavender and Sandalwood Rs 479; Icy Mint Rs 489; Lemon Rs 499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze Rs 509. Each of those is sold as a 10ml spray or a 12ml hanging at the same price. Mysore Orange Blossom is Rs 549 and is spray only. The 50ml spray is Rs 1,499 on every scent.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product details reflect the SOSA range; the reasoning about parking, occupancy and ventilation applies to any brand.
Specifications verified from the live SOSA product pages, September 2026: SOSA publishes nine car perfume scents. Eight are sold in two formats at the same price per scent - a 10ml spray and a 12ml hanging: Jasmine ₹449; Lavender and Sandalwood ₹479; Icy Mint ₹489; Lemon ₹499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze ₹509. Mysore Orange Blossom is spray only, ₹549 in 10ml. A 50ml spray is ₹1,499. The published quantities are: 10ml equals 100 sprays, stated as three months and above at one spray a day and fifty days at two a day; 50ml equals 500 sprays, stated as about a year and more; a spray combo is 200 sprays; and a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks, that is 28 to 42 days, of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle whose stopper loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. Four combos are published - Jasmine & Lemon and Jasmine & Lavender at ₹899, Oud + Lemon and Sandalwood & Oud at ₹949 - each as a spray combo of 2 x 10ml or a hanging combo of 2 x 12ml at the same price. The Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set publishes nine combinations, ₹699 to ₹899 for three and ₹2,999 for all nine; those nine are the entire set range and none is composed to order. Hanging refills are 15ml at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents; there is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India. SOSA Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
Imagine if Stars Hollow had its very own candle shop—filled with scents as inviting as Luke's coffee, as warm as a hug from Sookie, and as delightful as one of Lorelai's movie marathons. Welcome to Sosa home and body's very own newsletter!
