Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles12 min readUpdated September 2026
Two separate questions are folded into this one, and pulling them apart is most of the work. The first is what eight hours in an open office bay does to a car. The second is what you owe three other people for the hour that follows. SOSA publishes nothing that joins the first to the second - no figure, in either direction, for what a long parked stretch does to a fragrance. What is left is something plainer and far more useful: a sequence. Open the car, let it settle with the doors wide, drive the first few minutes with the ventilation doing its work, and only then decide whether to add anything at all. The reason to do it in that order is not chemistry. It is that you can add fragrance to a cabin at any moment, and once four people are sitting down you cannot take it back out.
The sequence matters more here than the strength does. Open the doors while you load, drive the first few minutes with the ventilation running, and only then decide. A 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 is 100 sprays and one press is the published unit; a 12ml hanging at the same price runs 4 to 6 weeks and has already decided for you. The eight hours on charge are not a published variable in any direction.
Quick answers — read this first
Should you air and cool the car before using fragrance for a shared journey? Treat it as a sequence rather than a rule about the product. Open both doors while you load up, pull away with the ventilation running, and keep the fragrance decision open for the first few minutes. By then you know what the cabin is actually like with four people in it, and a 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 is still entirely in your hands. SOSA publishes no temperature figure, so this is about your judgement, not a performance curve.
Does a hatchback that charges outdoors all day need a different car perfume? No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim of any kind. An outdoor bay with a charger in it is an outdoor bay, and a petrol car standing in the next space for the same eight hours is in exactly the same position. What actually changes the answer is that the car is shut, that it is then opened, and that three other people get in.
How much should you use when three colleagues are in the car? Less than you would alone, and the published mechanics make that easy. The spray is a fine-mist atomizer and one spray covers the cabin; a 10ml holds 100 sprays, so restraint costs you nothing except a bottle that lasts longer. One press as you get in, before anybody else does, is a modest amount by any reading, and you can always press again tomorrow.
The short answer
Short answer: Do it in order: open the doors while you load, drive the first few minutes with the ventilation running, then decide. A SOSA 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays, so one press is a real option. The eight hours in the bay are not a published fragrance variable, and neither is the charger.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 - because the only format that lets you decide after the doors are open is the one you press yourself.
Why: A shared hour is the one journey where you want the smallest amount you can get away with, and a spray is the only format where the amount is a decision you take at the door rather than one taken weeks ago.
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
My EV hatchback spends eight hours charging or parked outdoors at my Hyderabad office and then carries three colleagues home for an hour - should I ventilate and cool the cabin before applying a modest amount of fragrance for the passenger journey?
Yes, and it is worth being precise about why, because the reason is not the one the question assumes. Airing the car first is not a way of making a fragrance behave better. SOSA publishes no claim, in either direction, about what heat or a long parked stretch does to a scent - the only temperature statement anywhere in the range is that it is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, which is a stability statement about the formulation and not a performance curve. The real reason to open the doors first is sequencing. A cabin that has been shut for eight hours is an unknown until you open it, and adding fragrance to an unknown is how people end up with more than they wanted. Drive the first few minutes with the ventilation running, let the car become something you can judge, and then decide - which is exactly the point at which a 10ml spray earns its place. It is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, and it is published at 100 sprays, which the pages set out as 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. The spray is a fine-mist atomizer and one spray covers the cabin, so a modest amount is not a compromise, it is the published unit. Two honest limits. The eight hours on charge are not a fragrance variable - SOSA makes no petrol, diesel or electric product and publishes no powertrain difference, and a bay with a cable in it is still a bay. And fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise or mask an odour, so if the car smells of something it did not smell of last month, that is a question about the car rather than about what to buy. SOSA is a fragrance house based in Pune with delivery to Hyderabad. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Air it, drive it, then decide. One press, taken at the door, with three other noses in the car.
The short version: the eight hours are not the variable, the four people are. Open the car, drive a few minutes, then decide. A 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 holds 100 sprays, which is 3 months and above at one a day, and one spray covers the cabin. The 12ml hanging at the same price runs 4 to 6 weeks and cannot be turned down for a single journey.
Three things decide this, and the eight hours in the bay are not one of them
The question contains five facts - eight hours, outdoors, a charger, an hour home, three colleagues - and only two of them do any work. Here is which is which, and what to do with the two that matter.
01
Order of operations
Open the car first, because adding is instant and subtracting is not
This is the whole page in one line. Fragrance can go into a cabin at any second you choose. Getting it back out, with three passengers belted in on a dual carriageway, is a window and a wait. That asymmetry is the argument for doing nothing until you have information. Open both doors while you put your bag in, pull away with the ventilation running, and hold the decision open for the first few minutes of the drive. By the time you are out of the car park you know what the cabin is like with four people in it, which is the only condition that matters and the one you could not have judged eight hours earlier.
Tip: Nothing about this is a product claim. It is simply the order that keeps your options open.
02
The unit you are working in
One press is not restraint, it is the published measure
It is easy to treat a modest amount as a compromise, as though the proper dose were more. The published mechanics say otherwise. The spray is a fine-mist atomizer and one spray covers the cabin, and a 10ml bottle holds 100 sprays - set out as 3 months and above at one a day, or 50 days at two a day. So one press on the days you carry passengers is a bottle that runs for months, and a second press is available tomorrow if the first was not enough. Going the other way is not available. The 50ml at ₹1,499 is 500 sprays and about a year and more, which is the same logic at a larger size.
03
The two decoys
The charger and the powertrain are both doing nothing here
Eight hours plugged in is eight hours parked with a cable attached. SOSA publishes nothing about charging and no petrol, diesel or electric product, and the reason is not caution - it is that a fragrance sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it, and a petrol hatchback in the next bay has been shut for the same eight hours in the same sun. What genuinely changed between your morning drive and your evening one is that the car was closed all day and that it now has four people in it rather than one. Those two facts are the entire difference, and both of them are about occupancy rather than about the car.
Tip: Same bay, same eight hours, same closed cabin, whichever way the wheels are turned.
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
The order to do it in, on an evening when the car is not yours alone
Open both doors while you load up. That is step one, and it is not a spray.
Pull away with the ventilation running and keep the decision open for five minutes.
If you use it, one press. A 10ml is 100 sprays, so the rate is yours to set.
Ask the person in the back seat once, a week in. They notice what you do not.
The SOSA principle
You can add fragrance to a shared cabin in a second. You cannot subtract it in a second. Everything else on this page follows from that.
Which is why the sequence - open, drive, then decide - is worth more here than any figure on a bottle.
Which format still gives you a decision at the door, and which one has already decided
Because the spray and the hanging cost the same for the same scent, choosing is about what you want the hour to be rather than what you can afford. Jasmine at ₹449 and Lavender at ₹479 sit at the softer end, with Lavender published as the softest of the range. Lemon at ₹499, Icy Mint at ₹489 and Sea Breeze at ₹509 are the bright ones. Sandalwood at ₹479, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud at ₹509 are the deep end, Oud published as the deepest. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only, with no hanging version at all. For a car that regularly carries people who did not choose the scent, the softer end is the easier place to start, and you can move later.
The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to handle a shared evening hour, and the point at which each one lets you down
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
A 10ml spray, ₹449 to ₹549
The only option that is still a decision after the doors are open. 100 sprays, one press at a time. It fails on the mornings you forget, because it does nothing until somebody presses it.
A 12ml hanging, the same price
Runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass with no input, and the stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. It fails on this particular question, because it settled the matter weeks before your colleagues got in and a stopper is a setting rather than a switch.
Air the car and use nothing today
A real option and worth taking for a week. You learn what the cabin is like after eight hours shut, which is the one thing you currently do not know. It fails only if you already know the answer and are simply choosing a scent.
A hanging kept tight, plus a spray
Two purchases, and the most control available: a low constant with a press for the evenings that need one. It fails on simplicity, and on a car that carries passengers four evenings a week it is often more machinery than the situation needs.
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
Two practical details that change some people's minds regardless of the reasoning above. The hanging can be refilled - 15ml refills run ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents in a refillable glass bottle - and there is no spray refill at all, so a spray is replaced rather than topped up, and Orange Blossom has no refill in either form. Everything in the range is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant. If this is going to somebody else in the office, the one branding option SOSA offers is a custom label or logo on product - no printed sleeve and no insert card.
₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 sprays. Fragrance you decide to have, journey by journey - which is the format that suits a car occupied an hour or two a day.
The same price as the spray, published at 4 to 6 weeks in a refillable glass bottle. The stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler - which is the only strength control SOSA publishes.
Three sprays from ₹699, or all nine at ₹2,999. Nine published combinations and those nine are the whole range - you pick from them, you do not assemble one.
from ₹699
The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.
Adding fragrance to a full car takes a second. Removing it takes a window, a wait and an apology. Decide while the doors are still open.

The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin
The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler
₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out
₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs
₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you
₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder
from ₹3,999
The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
The honest spec sheet
What the SOSA car pages publish, and what they do not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The published quantities - a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, stated as 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two a day. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more, at ₹1,499. A spray combo is 200 sprays, stated as 100 days at two a day rotating. These are the only usage figures SOSA gives.
The hanging - 4 to 6 weeks (28 to 42 days) of continuous diffusion per 12ml bottle, in refillable glass, and the stopper adjusts the strength: loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler.
Combos and the Discovery Set - four published pairs at ₹899 and ₹949, as a spray combo (2 x 10ml) or a hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. The Discovery Set is ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays and ₹2,999 for all nine. Those nine combinations are the entire set range and none is composed to order.
Refills - 15ml hanging refills at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill.
The formulation - alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India.

ISIPCA Versailles
A note from Sonal
We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.
What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.
So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.
And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.
Frequently asked questions
Does an EV hatchback that charges outdoors all day need a different car perfume?
No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and makes no claim that a fragrance behaves differently by powertrain. A charging bay is a parking bay with a cable in it, and a petrol hatchback shut for the same eight hours in the same open car park is in the same position. The variables that matter are how long the cabin was closed, how long it is occupied and how many people are in it.
Should I air the car out before using a car perfume?
Opening the doors while you load, and driving the first few minutes with the ventilation running, is sensible sequencing rather than a product instruction. It gives you something to judge before you add anything. SOSA publishes no figure for what airing a cabin does to a fragrance, so treat it as a way of keeping your own options open rather than as a performance step.
How many sprays are in a SOSA 10ml car perfume?
A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, set out as 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. The 50ml is 500 sprays and published as lasting about a year and more. The spray is a fine-mist atomizer and one spray covers the cabin. Those are the only usage figures SOSA publishes for the sprays.
Is the hanging a poor choice for a car that carries colleagues?
Not poor, just already decided. A 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler, which is a setting you adjust over weeks rather than a control you use at the door. If the evening car pool is the journey you care most about, the spray gives you the decision in the moment. Both cost the same for the same scent.
Does SOSA have a shop in Hyderabad where I can try these?
No. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune and sends orders across India, including delivery to Hyderabad. There is no counter to visit. If you want to narrow the choice before ordering, WhatsApp is the route, and the Discovery Set of three sprays exists in nine published combinations from Rs 699.
Take the next step
Keep the decision until the doors are open
A 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 is the format that leaves the choice with you at the moment three other people get in - 100 sprays, so one press is cheap and a second is always available tomorrow. The 12ml hanging at the same price runs 4 to 6 weeks with the stopper as its strength control, which suits a car nobody else rides in more than it suits this one. Tell SOSA how long the car sits shut, how long it is full, and who else is in it.
Not sure which one suits the person you are buying for? Send SOSA their age, whether they drive, whether they like their home scented and your budget on WhatsApp, and you will get an honest answer - including when the cheaper product is the better gift.

Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India. SOSA Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
