Yes — more than almost any other factor. A fixed amount of mist spread through a bigger room is simply more diluted, so the same Sukoon on the same drops reads strong in a small room and faint in a large one. Room size isn't a nuisance variable; it's the main one.
Quick answers — read this first
Does a bigger room really smell weaker? Yes. The Sukoon puts out a fixed volume of scented mist; spread through more cubic feet, it's more diluted. Double the room, roughly halve the perceived strength.

What size is a Sukoon actually for? An enclosed room up to roughly 200–250 sq ft at a normal ceiling. Below ~100 sq ft a Boond (₹799) is plenty; above ~300 sq ft or open-plan you want a Vaayu.

Can't I just add more drops? A little helps, but you can't out-dose volume. Past the Sukoon's size the honest fix is a second unit or a bigger machine, not a heavier pour.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes — room size is the biggest factor; a fixed mist output diluted through more air reads weaker, so the Sukoon suits an enclosed room up to ~200–250 sq ft, a Boond a small one, and a large or open space needs the waterless Vaayu.
The pick: the SOSA Sukoon (₹1,799) ultrasonic diffuser plus a Hotel Collection scent (from ₹299) is the hotel-at-home starter; a Boond (₹799) suits a small room or desk, and for a large, open-plan or high-humidity space the waterless Vaayu (₹11,999) adds no moisture.

Straight answer
Does room size affect ultrasonic diffuser fragrance strength?
1. Yes — it's the dominant factor. A diffuser makes a fixed amount of scented mist; the room decides how much air that mist has to fill and therefore how strong it reads.

2. Bigger room, weaker scent. Roughly double the volume and you roughly halve the perceived strength, on the very same drops.

3. Match the machine to the size. Boond for small rooms and desks, Sukoon for an enclosed room up to ~200–250 sq ft, Vaayu for large or open-plan.

4. Dose helps only within range. Adding drops lifts a slightly-under room, but it can't make a Sukoon fill a hall — you'll just get a hotspot.

5. Size up past ~300 sq ft. For a genuinely large or open volume, a second diffuser or the waterless Vaayu (₹11,999) is the correct answer.

Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Room size is the main lever — Boond small, Sukoon to ~250 sq ft, Vaayu (₹11,999) for large/open.

Why room size decides everything

1
DILUTION 101
Fixed mist, variable air
Sukoon - the diffuser Sukoon · the diffuser₹1,799 A Sukoon produces roughly the same amount of scented mist whatever room it's in. What changes is the air it disperses into. In a small room that mist reaches a noticeable concentration quickly; in a big room the same mist is spread thin across far more cubic feet, so it reads faint everywhere at once. This is why size beats dose, timer and even scent choice as the thing that determines how strong your home smells. Get the size match right and everything else is fine-tuning.
Tip: Think in cubic feet, not just floor area — ceiling height counts too.

THE SUKOON BAND
Built for one enclosed room
Hotel Collection scents Hotel Collection scentsFrom ₹299 The Sukoon's sweet spot is an enclosed room up to roughly 200–250 sq ft at a normal 9–10 ft ceiling — a bedroom, a study, a standard living room. Inside that band it saturates beautifully on 3–6 drops. Below ~100 sq ft it's almost too much and a Boond is the tidier choice; above ~300 sq ft or open-plan it can't keep up. Knowing the band means you never buy the wrong machine or blame a good one for the wrong room.
Tip: Measure before you buy — the band is the whole decision.

PAST THE BAND
Big rooms are a different tool
Vaayu - large room Vaayu · large room₹11,999 Once a space is genuinely large, open-plan or high-ceilinged, no amount of dosing makes a single water diffuser fill it evenly — the physics simply run out. That's not a Sukoon failing; it's a Sukoon being asked to do a Vaayu's job. The waterless Vaayu is built for up to 1000m³ and adds no humidity, and for a whole villa the ducted Aangan carries one scent everywhere. Right tool, right volume.
Tip: Two smaller rooms? Two Sukoons. One big open room? One Vaayu.

Sizes & how to use: every scent comes as 15ml (₹299, to try), 100ml (₹999, the value bottle) or 300ml (₹1,799, best per-ml); the 15ml Pack of 7 (₹1,799) is the whole wardrobe. Add just 3-6 drops to the Sukoon's water tank and adjust to taste - a little goes a long way - and rinse the tank when you switch scents so each stays true. Frequently asked questions

Does a bigger room really need a stronger diffuser?
Yes. A bigger room is more cubic feet of air to fill, so a fixed mist output reads weaker throughout. Below ~100 sq ft a Boond suffices; up to ~250 sq ft a Sukoon; beyond that a Vaayu. Match the machine to the volume.
How many square feet can a Sukoon cover?
Comfortably an enclosed room up to roughly 200–250 sq ft at a normal ceiling, stretching toward 300 sq ft if you raise and centre it and dose to 5–6 drops. Past that, open-plan or high-ceilinged, it can't fill the space evenly.
Can more fragrance make up for a big room?
Only within reason. A drop or two more helps a slightly-large room, but you can't out-dose volume — past the Sukoon's band you get a strong hotspot near the machine and faint corners. The fix is another machine, not more oil.
What if my room is on the borderline, around 280 sq ft?
Try the Sukoon raised, centred, out of the AC draft and dosed to 5–6 drops; that often does it if the room is enclosed. If it's open to another space or high-ceilinged, treat it as large and use the Vaayu (₹11,999).
Does ceiling height count as room size?
Very much — strength is about volume, not floor area. A double-height living room has the floor area of a normal room but far more cubic feet, so a Sukoon that would fill it at 9 ft struggles at 18 ft. High ceilings push you toward the Vaayu earlier than floor area alone would suggest.
Size it right

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the technique applies to any brand's ultrasonic system.

Facts verified August 2026: An ultrasonic diffuser disperses a water-based fragrance as a cool micro-mist, scenting a room without heat or flame and adding a little humidity. Great hotels use commercial HVAC scenting to create a signature smell; at home the same effect comes from a diffuser plus a hotel-inspired blend. SOSA Sukoon is a 500ml ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser with a 7-colour mood light (₹1,799); Boond is a 300ml mini ultrasonic diffuser (₹799); both run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. The Hotel Collection comes in seven scents (Ritz-Carlton, Westin, 1 Hotels, St. Regis, Shangri-La, Four Seasons and W Hotels styles) in 15ml (₹299), 100ml (₹999) and 300ml (₹1,799), plus 15ml Pack of 7 (₹1,799); dose 3-6 drops per tank, use SOSA diffuser fragrance only (not raw essential/carrier oils), and rinse between scents. For large, open-plan or high-humidity spaces the waterless SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) adds no humidity; the Aangan (₹25,999) is a whole-home HVAC system. The scents are SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
