Who owns the logic, and why an integrator has to know
Every automated behaviour in a building has an owner. In a control system that owner is the controller: it holds the conditions, evaluates them, issues the commands and records what happened. The value of that arrangement is not that things happen on time — a mechanical timeswitch also makes things happen on time — but that the behaviour is centrally editable, centrally visible and centrally auditable.
