Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles11 min readUpdated September 2026
You have asked the right question and phrased it as a comparison, so here is the comparison settled first: parking is a variable and fuel is not. One of them changes what you open the door to; the other changes nothing at all about the air inside the car. Your hatchback spends its nights in a covered basement and its days under an open sky, which means it has two quite different mornings and evenings built into one week. That is a genuinely interesting fragrance situation, and it has almost nothing to do with the engine. What follows is what the two bays actually change, and what they do not.
The decision behind almost every version of this question, and it is not about the car: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and more at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, published at 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Nothing here changes with the powertrain.
Quick answers — read this first
Does where a car is parked matter more than what it runs on? Yes, and it is not close. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim, so the fuel side of that comparison is empty. Parking, by contrast, decides how long the car is shut, what condition you find it in and whether your first move is the window or the spray.
Does a basement bay call for a different fragrance from an open one? Not a different product, no. The same 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 and the same 12ml hanging at the same price serve both. What changes is the moment you use the spray - covered parking usually means you can press it as you get in, an open bay usually means airing the car first.
Which format suits a car with two different parking places? Whichever matches your appetite for deciding. A 10ml is 100 sprays, published as 3 months and above at one a day, and it lets the evening be handled differently from the morning. A 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks at the same price and treats both bays identically, which is either its strength or its limitation.
The short answer
Short answer: Parking is a real fragrance variable and the fuel in the tank is not one at all. A basement overnight and an open bay by day give you two different cars to get into, and the useful adjustment is timing rather than product. A SOSA 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays, which is 3 months and above at one a day; the 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 - 100 sprays, because a car with two parking situations benefits from a format you can use differently in each of them.
Why: Two bays mean two different sets of conditions to walk into, and only a format you switch on can be timed to each. Nothing here follows from the fuel.
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
My hatchback remains in basement parking at home but outdoors at work - should parking conditions matter more to fragrance use than whether the vehicle is petrol-powered?
Yes, decisively, and the comparison is worth spelling out because one half of it is empty. Take the fuel first and dispose of it. SOSA publishes no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product, and makes no claim anywhere that a fragrance behaves differently according to what moves the car. A perfume sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it; that volume does not know what is under the bonnet. So there is nothing on that side of your comparison to weigh. Parking, by contrast, changes four things you can actually act on. How many hours the car is shut - a basement overnight is eight to ten, an office bay is another eight or nine. What condition the cabin is in when you open it, which is the difference between a covered bay and an unshaded one. Whether your first move is the window or the spray. And how the two halves of your day differ, because yours genuinely do. In practice that means one adjustment rather than two products: in the covered basement you can generally press the spray as you get in; in the open bay it is worth giving the cabin thirty seconds with the doors open first, because a spray pressed into moving air is the commonest reason somebody presses twice. And the second press is not free. A SOSA 10ml spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon and ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. Two limits. The only heat sentence SOSA publishes is that the range is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, which describes the formula rather than promising anything about a cool basement or a hot bay. And a fragrance adds a scent; it does not remove, neutralise or purify anything already in the cabin. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Two bays, two habits, one bottle. The engine is not part of this decision at all.
One bottle, two habits: press as you get in downstairs, air the car first in the open bay. A 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 holds 100 sprays - three months and above at one a day. The 12ml hanging is the same price, runs 4 to 6 weeks and treats both bays the same, which is either the point or the problem.
Two bays, one car, and which of them is doing the work
Your question sets two things against each other, so it is worth separating what each one actually contributes. One side has four real effects and the other has none, and the third factor is what to do about it.
01
What parking changes
Hours shut, condition on opening, first move, and the gap between your two halves of the day
A covered basement and an open office bay are not the same situation and nobody who parks in both needs convincing. The four things that change are hours shut, the condition you find the cabin in, what your first move is, and how different the morning is from the evening. Yours is an unusually clean example: the car goes from one extreme to the other twice a day. That is not a reason to own two products. It is a reason to have two habits - get in and press in the basement, open up and wait in the bay. The same 10ml bottle serves both, and the only thing you are managing is when you press it. Note also what is identical across both bays: nobody is inside the car for either stretch, so whatever is happening in there is happening to an empty cabin.
Tip: Same bottle, two habits. That is the whole adjustment.
02
What the fuel changes
Nothing, and there is no published figure on that side to compare against
This needs saying flatly rather than diplomatically, because the comparison in the question assumes there is something to weigh. There is not. SOSA publishes no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product; there is no petrol formulation and no claim, anywhere in the range, that fragrance behaves one way in one kind of car and another way in another. A closed volume of air with a person in it is the same situation regardless of the engine. So when you set parking against fuel, you are setting four measurable effects against zero. The comparison is not close and it does not need to be hedged. What genuinely differentiates two owners is parking, occupied hours, ventilation habits and how many people share the car - and all four of those are in your control in a way the tank never was.
03
The format choice
A car with two parking states is the clearest argument for a format you switch on
The 10ml spray and the 12ml hanging cost the same for the same scent, so this is genuinely a choice about behaviour rather than budget. The spray is 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it, which is exactly what a two-bay routine wants: press on getting in at home, wait and then press at the office. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in refillable glass and treats both bays identically, with the stopper as its strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. If the two halves of your day feel the same to you, the hanging is the lower-effort answer. If they feel different, the spray is the one that lets you act on the difference.
Tip: The format follows the routine, and the routine follows the parking.
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
Write down the hours the car is shut in each bay. They are probably similar.
In the basement, press once as you get in. In the open bay, air it first.
Keep one 10ml for both. It is 100 sprays: 3 months and above at one a day.
If both halves feel the same after a week, the hanging costs no more.
The SOSA principle
Set parking against fuel and it is four effects against none. That is not a close comparison, and the honest page says so.
Which leaves the interesting question intact: what do you do differently between a covered bay and an open one?
Choosing a scent when the car lives in two different places
Because the two formats are priced identically, scent is the free part of this decision. Sandalwood at ₹479 is the one people reach for when the car is a settled, everyday space rather than a bright one, and Vetiver at ₹509 sits near it with more dryness. Oud at ₹509 is published as the deepest in the range. At the other end, Lavender at ₹479 is the softest and Jasmine at ₹449 the entry price. The bright three are Lemon at ₹499, Icy Mint at ₹489 and Sea Breeze at ₹509. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 exists as a spray only.
The SOSA gift edit
Four answers for a car that lives in two places, and the cost of each
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
A 10ml spray, ₹449 to ₹549
100 sprays, and the only format that lets the basement and the open bay be handled differently. It fails if you want the car to be ready without your involvement, because it does nothing until you press it.
A 12ml hanging, the same price
4 to 6 weeks continuous, adjustable at the stopper, and it handles both bays identically. It fails precisely where your question is interesting - it cannot tell the difference between the two parking situations, because it is not asking.
The Discovery Set, ₹699 to ₹899
Three sprays from nine published combinations, which is the cheapest way to find out whether you want the same scent in both halves of the day. It is a fixed list of combinations, not a set you assemble, and three open bottles is more than some people want.
Doing nothing beyond ventilation
Genuinely on the table, and honest. Open the windows for the first two minutes at each end and many people find they want nothing else. It fails only if you actually wanted the car to have a scent of its own.
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
A few facts to hold before you choose. 15ml refills exist for the hanging at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents in a refillable glass bottle, and there is no spray refill; Orange Blossom has no refill in either form. The Discovery Set publishes nine combinations and the range publishes four combos - the lists are fixed and nothing is composed to order. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India, and custom label or logo on product is the only branding option.
₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 sprays. Fragrance you decide to have, journey by journey - which is the format that suits a car occupied an hour or two a day.
The same price as the spray, published at 4 to 6 weeks in a refillable glass bottle. The stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler - which is the only strength control SOSA publishes.
Three sprays from ₹699, or all nine at ₹2,999. Nine published combinations and those nine are the whole range - you pick from them, you do not assemble one.
from ₹699
The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.
Where a car sleeps changes what you open the door to. What is in the tank changes nothing about the air inside it, and no published figure says otherwise.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA
The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin
The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler
₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out
₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs
₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you
₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder
from ₹3,999
The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a page like this should state.
The published quantities - a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, stated as 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two a day. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more, at ₹1,499. A spray combo is 200 sprays, stated as 100 days at two a day rotating. These are the only usage figures SOSA gives.
The hanging - 4 to 6 weeks (28 to 42 days) of continuous diffusion per 12ml bottle, in refillable glass, and the stopper adjusts the strength: loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler.
Combos and the Discovery Set - four published pairs at ₹899 and ₹949, as a spray combo (2 x 10ml) or a hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. The Discovery Set is ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays and ₹2,999 for all nine. Those nine combinations are the entire set range and none is composed to order.
Refills - 15ml hanging refills at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill.
The formulation - alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India.

A note from Sonal
We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.
What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.
So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.
And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.
Frequently asked questions
Does basement parking change how a car perfume behaves?
SOSA publishes no figure either way, and this page will not invent one. What a covered bay reliably changes is the condition you find the cabin in, which changes your first move when you get in. In a basement most people can press the spray straight away; in an open bay it is worth airing the car for half a minute first so that one press is enough.
Is parking more important than fuel type for car fragrance?
Yes, and there is nothing on the fuel side to weigh against it. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim of any kind. Parking changes the hours the car is shut, the condition of the cabin, and your own habit on getting in. Those are the things worth building a routine around.
Should I keep one fragrance in the car or change it between home and work?
One bottle covers both, and the adjustment is timing rather than product. If you do want variety, the Discovery Set publishes nine fixed combinations of three sprays from Rs 699 to Rs 899, or Rs 2,999 for all nine scents. You pick from the published list; the combinations are not assembled to order.
Does the range perform differently in a hot open bay?
SOSA publishes no seasonal or temperature performance claim in either direction. The one heat statement is that the range is formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, which is a formulation and stability statement about how it is built. Your own observation of a given evening is a perfectly good reason to change what you do.
How long does a 10ml last for someone parking in two places?
The parking does not change the count. A 10ml holds 100 sprays, published as 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. If your routine is one press at each end of the day, you are at the 50-day figure. A 50ml is Rs 1,499 and holds 500 sprays, stated as about a year and more.
Take the next step
Work out your own number, then pick the format
The 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 when you want to decide, journey by journey - 100 sprays, so three months at one a day and fifty days at two. The 50ml at ₹1,499, 500 sprays and about a year and more, once you already know your routine rather than while you are still finding it. Tell SOSA how the car is parked, how long anybody is actually inside it and who else drives it, on WhatsApp.

What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
