How SOSA works
Two rungs, honestly: a spray you aim when you choose, or a cordless diffuser that decides for you
A note list is not a smell
Every description here is an intention written in words. It cannot tell you how an oil will sit on your own skin.
Alcohol-free by formulation
A jojoba carrier with no DPG and no ethanol. IFRA-compliant.
One dab, and do not rub it in
A pulse point and a dab applicator. Oil opens with warmth, so rubbing crushes the top of it.
Composed by a trained perfumer
Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained, composes the whole range.
A portion funds girl-child education
Part of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
We will tell you not to buy
There are four attars. Where your answer is not one of them, these guides say so and sell nothing.

This is the page the other nine in this block feed into, so it is mostly arithmetic and you can check all of it against the price list. Five budgets, three sizes, four compositions and one trio, with every sum written out. The conclusion is the same at every budget and I will put it here rather than making you scroll for it: the best personal value is the smallest bottle of the composition you have the best reason to think you will like, followed by a larger bottle of whichever one you actually reached for. Everything below is the detail that makes that specific rather than pious.
Quick answers — read this first
What is the best attar purchase at each budget? ₹500: one 3ml at ₹379 to ₹399 with change. ₹1,000: two 3mls at ₹758 to ₹798, or one 6ml with ₹301 to ₹331 left. ₹1,500: any 12ml with ₹301 to ₹351 left, or the 3ml trio at ₹1,055 with ₹445. ₹2,000: a 12ml and a 3ml at ₹1,528 to ₹1,598, or all four 3mls at ₹1,552. ₹3,000: the 6ml trio at ₹1,859 with ₹1,141 left, or all four 6mls at ₹2,732.

Does the bigger bottle save money? On volume, yes. Using Adaa: two 3mls come to ₹758 against ₹669 for the 6ml, four 3mls come to ₹1,516 against ₹1,149 for the 12ml, and two 6mls come to ₹1,338 against that same ₹1,149. The savings are ₹89, ₹367 and ₹189. All three are worth nothing on a composition you turn out not to wear, which is why the sequence matters more than the arithmetic.

How do I work out the right size for my application frequency? Measure it rather than estimate it. Write the date you opened the bottle on the box, then note each day how many dabs you applied and whether you topped up. After a fortnight you have your own rate, which you can set against the published prices. No drops-per-millilitre or cost per application is published for these bottles, by us or anybody else I have found, because there is no agreed method for measuring what one dab delivers.
The short answer
Short answer: A 3ml of your best-reasoned guess, then volume once you know. ₹500 buys one 3ml, ₹1,000 two, ₹1,500 any 12ml or the trio with change, ₹2,000 a 12ml and a 3ml, ₹3,000 the 6ml trio with ₹1,141 left.
The pick: A 3ml at ₹379 to ₹399 if you have a composition in mind, or the 3ml trio at ₹1,055 if you have three and cannot choose. Then the 6ml at ₹669 to ₹699, or the 12ml at ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 if you have finished a bottle and want another of the same.
Honest note: an attar is bought unsmelled, so a list of notes is all you have. A note list describes an intention, not a smell, and nothing written here is a substitute for wearing it.
Four attars - lightest opening to deepest baseAdaa · Mastani · Ameeri · Nawaab3ml from ₹379  |  6ml from ₹669  |  12ml from ₹1,149Dab on pulse points - oil wants warmth, not rubbing6-8 hours on skin · alcohol-free · DPG-free carrier
There are four SOSA attars and they run from a bergamot-and-cardamom opening at the lightest end to white royal oud at the deepest. Adaa is the freshest, Mastani the most floral, Ameeri the warmest, Nawaab the deepest. All four are alcohol-free on a jojoba carrier with no DPG, come with a dab applicator, and wear 6-8 hours on skin - longer on warm or oily skin. Sizes are 3ml, 6ml and 12ml, from Rs 379. None of that tells you whether you will like the smell, which is why the smallest size exists.
Straight answer
Which attar purchase gives the best value for my budget, size and application frequency?
Five budgets, every sum checkable against the price list.

₹500. One 3ml and change. Adaa ₹379, Ameeri ₹385, Mastani ₹389, Nawaab ₹399, leaving ₹121, ₹115, ₹111 or ₹101. Two 3mls would be ₹758 at the cheapest, so this is a one-bottle budget and the bottle is the small one. The full version of this budget, with what to check before spending it.

₹1,000. Two 3mls, ₹758 to ₹798 depending which two, which is the best information this budget can buy. Or one 6ml - ₹669, ₹679, ₹685, ₹699 - leaving ₹301 to ₹331. Not a 12ml: the cheapest is ₹1,149, so you are ₹149 short. And not the trio either, which at 3ml is ₹1,055, over by ₹55. The everyday version of this budget.

₹1,500. Any 12ml with change - ₹1,149, ₹1,165, ₹1,179 or ₹1,199, leaving ₹351 down to ₹301. Or the 3ml trio at ₹1,055, leaving ₹445, which is itself another 3ml with ₹46 to ₹66 back. Or two 6mls if you choose the cheaper pair: Adaa at ₹669 and Mastani at ₹685 come to ₹1,354, leaving ₹146. The luxurious-but-not-loud version of this budget.

₹2,000. A 12ml and a 3ml: ₹1,528 for two sizes of Adaa, ₹1,598 for two of Nawaab, leaving ₹472 or ₹402. Or all four compositions at 3ml for ₹1,552 with ₹448 left. Or the 6ml trio at ₹1,859, leaving ₹141. Or two 6mls and a 3ml at ₹1,727, leaving ₹273. Three 6mls come to ₹2,033, which is ₹33 over. The wedding version of this budget.

₹3,000. The 6ml trio at ₹1,859 with ₹1,141 still in your pocket, which is the shape I would choose. Or all four at 6ml for ₹2,732, leaving ₹268 - the whole range in a size you can live in. Note what has happened by this budget: you can buy everything we make, which means the only remaining question is what you will actually wear.

Now size, which is simpler than the category pretends. The 3ml, the 6ml and the 12ml are filled from the same blend. There is no junior version in the small bottle, so size is a volume decision and nothing else. Volume does get cheaper as the bottle grows and here is the proof, using Adaa: two 3mls come to ₹758 against ₹669 for the 6ml, a difference of ₹89; four 3mls come to ₹1,516 against ₹1,149 for the 12ml, a difference of ₹367; two 6mls come to ₹1,338 against the same ₹1,149, a difference of ₹189. For Nawaab the pattern holds: two 3mls ₹798 against ₹699, four 3mls ₹1,596 against ₹1,199. Every one of those savings is worth nothing on a composition you do not wear. Which is why the small premium bottle beats the large cheap one when you have smelled neither.

The trio, where three compositions are cheaper than three bottles. Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani. At 3ml the set is ₹1,055 against ₹1,173 bought singly, which saves ₹118. At 6ml it is ₹1,859 against ₹2,063, saving ₹204. At 12ml it is ₹3,189 against ₹3,543, saving ₹354. It does not include Adaa, the lightest of the four and the only fresh opening in the range. One good bottle against several to experiment with.

Application frequency, and the honest gap in this guide. You asked about it and I cannot give you a number. There is no published drops-per-millilitre figure for these bottles, no dabs-per-bottle figure and no cost per application, because measuring what one dab delivers needs a test method this category does not have. What you can do takes a fortnight: write the date you opened the bottle on the box, note each day how many dabs you applied and whether you topped up, and at the end you have your own rate to set against the published prices above. One dab at a pulse point is the dose, two if you want it read across a dinner table, and never rubbed in - oil opens with warmth and rubbing crushes the top of the composition. Why nobody publishes a cost per application, including us.

Verified ingredient claims, which is the phrase in your question I like most. Here is what is published for all four: alcohol-free, IFRA-compliant, a jojoba carrier with no DPG, a built-in dab applicator, hand-blended in small batches in Pune, and 6-8 hours on skin, longer on warm or oily skin. That is the whole of what I will state. Anything beyond it - a percentage of anything, or a question about a specific ingredient class - deserves an answer from us in writing rather than from an article, and you should ask. And before you order, confirm price, size, directions and the returns position on the live product page itself, because policies change and articles do not. What is and is not published about the contents.

So, the recommendation, stated as a sequence rather than a product. Pick the composition whose note list you can picture most clearly, or the trio if three of them are equally plausible. Buy it at 3ml - ₹379 to ₹399, or ₹1,055 for the three. Wear it for a fortnight, one dab, written down. Then buy the 6ml at ₹669 to ₹699 of whichever one you reached for without thinking, or the 12ml at ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 if you have already finished a bottle of it. That sequence costs slightly more in total than buying the big bottle on day one and it is the only version of this decision where you cannot lose much. Which of the four to buy first and the full consultation, if you would rather give us your inputs and have us answer.
Same liquid in all three sizes, so size is a volume decision and nothing else. ₹500 buys one 3ml; ₹1,000 two; ₹1,500 a 12ml with about ₹300 left or the trio with ₹445; ₹2,000 a 12ml and a 3ml; ₹3,000 the 6ml trio with ₹1,141 back.
Start at 3ml. A 3ml costs ₹379 to ₹399 depending on the composition, holds the same liquid as the larger sizes, and is the only honest size for a fragrance you have never worn. Wear it for a week before you buy a size. Nothing on this page can tell you how it will smell on your skin, which is exactly why the smallest bottle exists.
3ml from ₹379

The three variables, in the order they should decide

Budget sets what is reachable, preference sets which composition, and frequency sets the size - and only the first two should be settled before your first purchase.

1
Budget
What each amount actually reaches, with the sums shown
₹500 is one 3ml, since two come to ₹758. ₹1,000 is two 3mls or one 6ml, and falls ₹149 short of the cheapest 12ml at ₹1,149. ₹1,500 reaches any 12ml with ₹301 to ₹351 left, or the trio at ₹1,055 with ₹445. ₹2,000 is a 12ml and a 3ml, or all four 3mls at ₹1,552. ₹3,000 is the 6ml trio at ₹1,859 with ₹1,141 left, or all four 6mls at ₹2,732.
Tip: Write your number down and subtract the real prices before you read any more fragrance copy.
2
Size
The same liquid, so this is purely a volume decision
The 3ml, the 6ml and the 12ml are filled from the same blend, with the same jojoba carrier, the same dab applicator and the same 6-8 hours on skin. Volume gets cheaper as the bottle grows - ₹89, ₹189 and ₹367 on the Adaa comparisons above - and every rupee of that saving is conditional on your finishing the bottle. Until you have worn the composition, the small one is the only size that cannot embarrass you.
Tip: Buy the smallest size first, every time, unless you have already finished a bottle of it.
3
Frequency
Measure your own rate, because nobody publishes one
Date the bottle, count your dabs for fourteen days, note whether you topped up. Then you have a figure that is true for your hand, which is the only place such a figure can be true - the amount an applicator delivers changes with tilt, contact time, oil temperature and how full the bottle is, so there is nothing to publish. One dab at a pulse point is the dose, two if you want it read across a table, never rubbed in.
Tip: Keep one line a day in your phone for a fortnight. It will outperform every estimate online.
The SOSA principle
Size is a volume decision and nothing else, because the liquid is identical. The only decision that needs courage is which composition, and the 3ml makes that one cheap.
Buy knowledge first, volume second. The volume saving waits for you.

The four compositions and the three sizes

Adaa is bergamot and green cardamom over jasmine sambac and white musk - the lightest, the only fresh opening, and the mogra answer here since jasmine sambac and mogra are the same flower: ₹379 at 3ml, ₹669 at 6ml, ₹1,149 at 12ml. Ameeri is Taif rose, Indian sandalwood and Persian saffron with soft oudh: ₹385, ₹679, ₹1,165. Mastani is night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose over oudh: ₹389, ₹685, ₹1,179.

The SOSA attar range
Every budget, and the best use of it
Option When it is the right call
₹500 One 3ml at ₹379 to ₹399 · ₹101 to ₹121 back
Not reachable: Two 3mls, which start at ₹758
₹1,000 Two 3mls at ₹758 to ₹798, or one 6ml with ₹301 to ₹331 back
Not reachable: A 12ml - the cheapest is ₹1,149, so you are ₹149 short
₹1,500 Any 12ml with ₹301 to ₹351 back, or the 3ml trio at ₹1,055 with ₹445
Trade-off: One composition in volume, or three in the size that tests them
₹2,000 to ₹3,000 A 12ml and a 3ml at ₹1,528 to ₹1,598; all four 3mls at ₹1,552; the 6ml trio at ₹1,859; all four 6mls at ₹2,732
Trade-off: At the top of this range you can own everything we make, so only taste is left to decide

Nawaab is the deepest, nine materials from white royal oud through sandalwood, saffron, black pepper, cardamom, aged tobacco leaf, amber and leather to white musk: ₹399 at 3ml, ₹699 at 6ml, ₹1,199 at 12ml. The trio of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani is ₹1,055, ₹1,859 and ₹3,189 at the three sizes. Depth order, lightest to deepest: Adaa, then Mastani, then Ameeri, then Nawaab.

Not sure which of the four is yours?
Tell us the three fragrances you wear most and the notes you cannot stand. If none of our four fits what you describe, we will say so rather than sell you a bottle you will not wear.
Ask first
At Rs 3,000 you can buy everything we make. Which means the only question left at any budget is what you will actually wear.

The SOSA attar range

Every SOSA attar is alcohol-free and IFRA-compliant on a jojoba carrier with no DPG, hand-blended in small batches in Pune. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. There are four, and the honest way to read them is by depth - how much the base note is doing.

The SOSA attar range
Four attars, lightest to deepest - 3ml from ₹379
Attar Built on What it is, honestly 3ml
Adaa Bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk The lightest of the four and the easiest first attar. Jasmine sambac is mogra, so this is also the mogra answer ₹379
Ameeri Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron, soft oudh The warm one. Rose and sandalwood doing most of the work, with the oudh kept soft ₹385
Mastani Night-blooming jasmine, Damask rose, oudh The most floral. A different jasmine and a different rose from Adaa and Ameeri ₹389
Nawaab White royal oud, sandalwood, saffron, tobacco leaf, amber, leather The deepest in the range. Not a first attar unless you already know you like oud ₹399
The trio Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani together Three of the four at once. The honest answer when you cannot choose and will not guess ₹1,055

Four honest notes. A note list is not a smell. Every composition above is described in the words we would use ourselves, and those words still cannot tell you how it will sit on your skin - which is the whole reason the 3ml exists. On the sizes: 3ml, 6ml and 12ml are the same liquid, and the only reason to buy the larger ones is that you already know. If you have not worn it, buy the smallest and let it earn the upgrade. On wear: all four are 6-8 hours on skin, longer on warm or oily skin, and that is the only figure we publish. We do not publish a drop count, a per-application cost, or a comparison with how long anybody else's fragrance lasts - including sprays. On what we do not make: there is no standalone musk, sandalwood, amber, tuberose, vetiver, khus, aquatic or tobacco attar in this range. Four compositions is the whole range, and where your answer is not one of them, this page will say so rather than talk you into the nearest thing.

A note from Sonal

Attars are the part of this business where the marketing is worst, and I would like ours to be the boring, accurate version. Most of the category sells a bottle on adjectives - royal, exotic, hypnotic, long-lasting - and on numbers nobody has measured. You cannot smell any of it before you pay, so the words are doing all the work, and almost nobody writes them honestly.

So here is what I will and will not tell you. I will tell you what is in each of the four, in the order you meet it, and that they wear 6-8 hours on my skin. I will not tell you that one of them smells expensive, or that it will turn heads, or that it lasts twelve hours, because I cannot know the first two about you and have not measured the third. The honest sequence is: read the notes, buy the 3ml, wear it for a week, and only then buy a size. If none of our four matches what you have described to yourself, I would rather say so than sell you the nearest one.

The other thing worth knowing is how little you need. An attar is concentrated oil, and the commonest mistake is wearing it like a spray - a long press at the neck and another at the wrists. One dab at a pulse point is the dose. Two if you want it read across a dinner table. Do not rub it in; oil opens with warmth, and rubbing crushes the top of it. That is the entire dial, and most people never need the top of it. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Frequently asked questions

What can I buy at each budget?
Rs 500 buys one 3ml with Rs 101 to Rs 121 back. Rs 1,000 buys two 3mls at Rs 758 to Rs 798, or one 6ml with about Rs 300 left. Rs 1,500 buys any 12ml with Rs 301 to Rs 351 left, or the 3ml trio at Rs 1,055 with Rs 445 left. Rs 2,000 buys a 12ml and a 3ml. Rs 3,000 buys the 6ml trio at Rs 1,859 with Rs 1,141 left, or all four 6mls at Rs 2,732.
Is the 12ml better value than the 3ml?
On volume, clearly. Four 3mls of Adaa come to Rs 1,516 against Rs 1,149 for its 12ml, a difference of Rs 367, and two 6mls come to Rs 1,338 against the same Rs 1,149. On personal value, only after you have worn the composition, because none of that saving exists if the bottle sits unused.
Do the three sizes contain the same fragrance?
Yes. The 3ml, 6ml and 12ml are filled from the same blend - alcohol-free, IFRA-compliant, on a jojoba carrier with no DPG, with a built-in dab applicator, hand-blended in small batches in Pune, 6 to 8 hours on skin and longer on warm or oily skin.
How many applications will a bottle give me?
I do not know and I will not estimate it. There is no published drops-per-millilitre figure for these bottles and no agreed method for measuring what one dab of an applicator delivers, since it changes with tilt, contact time, oil temperature and how full the bottle is. Date your bottle, count your dabs for a fortnight, and the figure becomes yours.
Which purchase is the best personal value?
The smallest bottle of the composition you have the best reason to think you will like, followed by a larger bottle of whichever one you actually reached for. That is Rs 379 to Rs 399 now, or Rs 1,055 for three of the four, and Rs 669 to Rs 699 later. Confirm price, size, directions and returns on the live product page before you order.

About this guide:
  • Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the fragrance-family guidance applies to any brand. SOSA does not sort fragrance by the gender of the wearer.

What this guide does not claim.
  • An attar is a fragrance and nothing else.
A note list is not a smell
  • - it names what a composition is built from and the order you meet it in, which is a description of an intention rather than a measurement, and it is
not a substitute for wearing it
  • . Nothing here should be read as advice about health, allergies or anyone's wellbeing, and no fragrance on this page is claimed to affect anybody's mood, comfort, confidence or state of mind. Where a reader describes a preference none of our four compositions matches, these guides say so and sell nothing.

SOSA attars, specified:
  • four compositions -
Adaa
  • (bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk),
Ameeri
  • (Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron, soft oudh),
Mastani
  • (night-blooming jasmine, Damask rose, oudh) and
Nawaab
  • (white royal oud, sandalwood, saffron, black pepper, cardamom, aged tobacco leaf, amber, leather, white musk). All four are
alcohol-free and IFRA-compliant on a jojoba carrier with no DPG
  • , supplied with a built-in dab applicator, and hand-blended in small batches in Pune. Sizes are
3ml, 6ml and 12ml
  • : Adaa ₹379 / ₹669 / ₹1,149, Ameeri ₹385 / ₹679 / ₹1,165, Mastani ₹389 / ₹685 / ₹1,179, Nawaab ₹399 / ₹699 / ₹1,199. The three-attar trio (Ameeri, Nawaab, Mastani) is ₹1,055 / ₹1,859 / ₹3,189. The same liquid fills all three sizes.

On wear.
  • SOSA publishes one figure:
6-8 hours on skin, longer on warm or oily skin
  • . SOSA does not publish a drop count, a cost per application, a projection rating, or any comparison with how long another format or another company's fragrance lasts. Where a customer review reports a different number, that is one person's experience of their own skin and not a measurement SOSA stands behind.

On what is in the bottle.
  • The composition lists above name the materials a fragrance is built from. They are not a statement of grade, percentage or geographic origin, and this guide makes no claim about either. Where origin or grade matters to you, ask before you buy - that is a fair question and the answer belongs to the product page rather than to an article.

On other companies.
  • Where another fragrance brand is named in these guides it is because a reader named it, and the page answers what they asked. Nothing here states what any other company's product contains, how long it lasts, what it costs or how it performs.
Other brands named are the property of their respective owners · SOSA is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or associated with any other fragrance company named on this page
  • , and no other company has reviewed or approved this content. If a product you already own suits you, keep it - several pages in this guide say exactly that.

On availability.
  • SOSA is an online fragrance house and ships across India; it holds no retail counters, and no delivery window is quoted here. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Prices and availability change - see the live product pages.
