Attar Gift Guides · SOSA

A single 12ML attar and the three-piece trio cost almost exactly the same. That is precisely why the price cannot be the thing that decides between them. What decides is a much narrower question: do you know what this person actually wears?
Quick answers — read this first
12ML attar or the trio, which is the better gift? Neither is universally better. A single
12ML attar at ₹1,199 says you know their taste. The
trio at ₹1,055 says you know they like fragrance, and leaves the choosing to them.
What is actually in the trio? Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in 3ML each. It does not contain Adaa.
When is the trio the better pick even though it costs less? When you genuinely do not know which scent they would choose, or when they already own several fragrances and would rather try something new than receive a bottle of what they already know they like.
The short answer
Short answer: a single 12ML attar and the 3ML trio cost almost the same, ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 against ₹1,055, so the decision is about how well you know the recipient's taste, not the money.
Straight answer
Should I gift one 12ML attar or the three-piece trio?
1. Ask one question first. Do you know what this person actually wears, or at least what character of scent they lean toward? The whole decision follows from the answer.
2. If you know their taste, buy the 12ML. A single
12ML attar commits to a specific scent, it is the size someone uses daily rather than saves, and it reads as attention paid.
3. If you do not, buy the trio. The
trio at ₹1,055 is a tasting, not a verdict. It protects you from being confidently wrong about someone's taste.
4. The trio is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani. It does not include Adaa. If the recipient turns out to prefer something lighter and more neutral, Adaa is sold separately.
5. The money is nearly identical either way. ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 for one 12ML bottle, ₹1,055 for three 3ML bottles. Choose on knowledge, not on price.
And a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
TL;DR: know their taste, buy one
12ML attar. Not sure, buy the
trio. The two cost about the same.
The tasting, not the verdict
Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani Attar Trio ₹1,055
Three 3ML alcohol-free attars: Ameeri, Taif rose and Indian sandalwood; Nawaab, white oud and saffron; and Mastani, night-blooming jasmine and damask rose. It does not include Adaa.
Almost the same money, two different gifts
A single 12ML attar runs ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 depending on which scent you pick. The three-piece trio, three 3ML bottles of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani, is ₹1,055. That is close enough that price should never be the reason you pick one over the other. The honest reason is somewhere else entirely.
1
One bottle
"I know what you wear"
A single 12ML attar commits to one scent. It is the size someone actually reaches for daily, not a sample they try once and set aside, and choosing a specific note for a specific person reads as attention that was paid on purpose.
Right for: someone whose taste you genuinely know, whether from their shelf, their habits, or having asked before.
2
Three bottles
"I know you like fragrance"
The trio hands the decision back to the person receiving it. It is a tasting rather than a verdict, and it protects you from being confidently wrong about someone's taste, which a single wrong 12ML bottle cannot undo.
Right for: someone you know likes fragrance, but whose specific preference you would be guessing at.
3
A useful exception
Someone who already owns plenty
For a serious fragrance collector, a twenty-first bottle of something they already know they like is often less welcome than something new to try. In that specific case the trio can be the better gift for a person you actually know very well, precisely because you know they will enjoy the discovery.
What each gift actually says
Neither option is the safe one and neither is the generous one. They answer different questions. The single bottle says "I paid attention to what you specifically wear". The trio says "I know fragrance matters to you, so I am giving you the choosing, not the choice". Both are honest gifts when matched to the right person.

Pick the format that matches what you know
The SOSA principle
The question is never "which is better". It is "do you know their taste.
That single question resolves this decision honestly, even when it points to the cheaper gift.
One bottle is a verdict. Three bottles are a question. Both are generous when they fit the person.

How to actually choose
If you can picture the bottle already on their shelf, or you have watched them reach for the same scent twice, buy the single 12ML attar in that character. If you cannot picture it, buy the trio and let them tell you, by which one they keep reaching for, what the next single bottle should be.

Honest notes: the trio contains Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani only, never Adaa. Prices above are for the 12ML single bottles and the 3ML trio set; larger trio sets exist at higher prices. SOSA has published no longevity data, so this page makes no claim about how many wears either option gives. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
A note from Sonal
I get asked constantly which is the "better" gift, the single bottle or the trio, and I have stopped answering that version of the question. They are not competing for the same job.
A 12ML attar is a statement about someone specific. The trio is an invitation. Both are real gifts. The only mistake is buying the statement when you do not actually know what to say.
If in doubt, I tell people to buy the trio. It costs slightly less, it is honest about what you do not know, and a girl gets a classroom through Nanhi Kali regardless of which one you choose.
Frequently asked questions
Is a 12ML attar or the attar trio the better gift?
Neither is better in general. A single 12ML attar, from Rs 1,149 to Rs 1,199, is the right gift when you know what the person actually wears. The Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani trio at Rs 1,055 is the right gift when you do not, because it hands the choice back instead of guessing.
What is in the SOSA attar trio?
Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani, in 3ML each. It does not contain Adaa. If the person turns out to prefer something lighter, Adaa can be bought separately.
Why would I choose the cheaper trio over one full-sized attar?
Because a trio is more honest when you are not certain of someone's taste, and because for a person who already owns several fragrances, something new to try is often more welcome than another bottle of a scent they already know.
Is a 12ML single attar ever the wrong gift?
Yes, when you are guessing at the recipient's taste rather than knowing it. A single scent chosen wrongly is a bottle that sits unused, whereas the trio lets the recipient find their own favourite among three.
How much does each option cost?
A single 12ML attar is Rs 1,149 for Adaa, Rs 1,165 for Ameeri, Rs 1,179 for Mastani, or Rs 1,199 for Nawaab. The 3ML trio of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani is Rs 1,055.
