Morning Freshness ₹1,249 / 130ml
Oil refill 300ml ₹2,399
Day & Night duo ₹1,498
Evening Calm ₹799
Warmth & Bloom duo ₹1,598
One room, a full year, ₹3,648. 130ml at ₹1,249 runs 14–18 weeks; a 300ml refill at ₹2,399 fills it about 2.3 more times, another 32–41 weeks. ₹1,249 + ₹2,399 = ₹3,648 across roughly 46–59 weeks. ₹6,000 − ₹3,648 = ₹2,352 left over.
Two rooms, a full year, ₹5,997. Day & Night 2 × 130ml at ₹2,498 plus a 500ml refill at ₹3,499. ₹2,498 + ₹3,499 = ₹5,997, or ₹3 under budget.
Three rooms does not fit. Not for a full year, not honestly. Do two rooms properly rather than three intermittently.
2. Then stop spending monthly. A reed year has three or four purchase moments in it, months apart, and nothing at all in between. If you buy something small every month because the budget renews, you will spend the whole ₹6,000 and cover less ground than a plan costing ₹3,648.
3. One room, the whole year: ₹3,648. A 130ml at ₹1,249 runs 14–18 weeks. A 300ml refill at ₹2,399 fills that same bottle about 2.3 more times — another 32–41 weeks. ₹1,249 + ₹2,399 = ₹3,648 for roughly 46–59 weeks. ₹6,000 − ₹3,648 = ₹2,352 you do not spend.
4. Two rooms, the whole year: ₹5,997. The Day & Night duo in 2 × 130ml at ₹2,498 gives 14–18 weeks in each of two rooms; a 500ml at ₹3,499 splits into 250ml each, about 1.9 more fills, another 27–35 weeks each. ₹2,498 + ₹3,499 = ₹5,997 against a ₹6,000 budget.
5. Three rooms does not fit, and I will not pretend it does. The nearest honest version — a ₹1,498 duo plus one 50ml at ₹749 plus a ₹3,499 500ml — is ₹1,498 + ₹749 + ₹3,499 = ₹5,746, and it covers three rooms for roughly 26–34 weeks, not a year. Two rooms properly beats three rooms two-thirds of the time.
6. Keep the glass and keep the reeds. The entire saving depends on it: refills are oil only, and replacement reeds are not sold separately. Wipe the reeds from any bottle that empties cleanly and stand them upright somewhere dry.

Part one — why the annual figure is the only useful one
A monthly budget is a habit, and habits look for something to buy each month. Home fragrance does not work on that clock. The things that cost money here last six weeks, four months or nine months, and none of those divide neatly into thirty days. Convert to a year and the whole problem becomes legible.
300ml refill₹2,399Here is the actual calendar of a one-room year. Month one: ₹1,249. Months two, three and four: nothing. Around month four or five, when the bottle empties: ₹2,399. Months six through twelve: nothing at all, because 300ml refills a 130ml bottle roughly 2.3 times. Two transactions in fifty-odd weeks. The discipline this asks of you is not thrift, it is patience — holding ₹500 in months two and three when nothing needs buying. Every rupee you spend in those months is a rupee spent because the budget renewed, not because the room needed anything.Part two — five ways to spend ₹6,000, costed
Every total below is arithmetic on SOSA prices you can check on the product pages, and every run-time is built from published lifespans: 50ml 6–8 weeks, 130ml 14–18 weeks, at six reeds. The starred row is the one I would choose for most readers — and it is not the one that spends the most.
| Plan | What you buy, in order | Rooms | How long it runs | Year total, shown | Left from ₹6,000 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| One room, done properly ★ | 130ml ₹1,249, then 300ml refill ₹2,399 | 1 | 14–18 wks + 32–41 wks = 46–59 weeks | ₹1,249 + ₹2,399 = ₹3,648 | ₹2,352 |
| One room, smallest start | 50ml ₹749, then 300ml refill ₹2,399 | 1 | 6–8 wks + 36–48 wks = 42–56 weeks | ₹749 + ₹2,399 = ₹3,148 | ₹2,852 |
| Two rooms, whole year | 2 × 130ml duo ₹2,498, then 500ml ₹3,499 | 2 | 14–18 wks + 27–35 wks = 41–53 weeks each | ₹2,498 + ₹3,499 = ₹5,997 | ₹3 |
| Two rooms, cheaper start | 2 × 50ml duo ₹1,498, then 500ml ₹3,499 | 2 | 6–8 wks + 30–40 wks = 36–48 weeks each | ₹1,498 + ₹3,499 = ₹4,997 | ₹1,003 |
| Three rooms — the plan that fails | Duo ₹1,498 + one 50ml ₹749, then 500ml ₹3,499 | 3 | 6–8 wks + 20–26 wks = 26–34 weeks each | ₹1,498 + ₹749 + ₹3,499 = ₹5,746 | ₹254, and four months uncovered |
| The honest caveat: the refill weeks are arithmetic, not measurement — 300ml divided by a 130ml vessel is about 2.3 fills and 500ml divided between two 130ml vessels is about 1.9 fills each, and each fill is assumed to run its published 14–18 weeks at six reeds. Warmth raises the evaporation rate so a hot room empties a bottle sooner; high humidity slows evaporation from the reed surface so a monsoon stretch can feel quieter while lasting longer; a draught from a fan, an AC or an open balcony carries scent away and empties the bottle faster. Those are directions of effect, not measured rates, and every lifespan here is a typical range rather than a guarantee. Each plan also assumes you keep your glass vessel and your reeds, because refills are oil only and replacement reeds are not sold separately. Finally, "rooms" means closed air spaces — count the doors you shut and add one for the open zone. An open-plan hall and kitchen is one space, not two. | |||||

Part three — when ₹6,000 is not the constraint at all
Three situations where the plan above is not the right advice, and the honest answer is elsewhere. The first is when you cannot hold the money. If ₹500 arriving monthly genuinely will not survive to month four, then plan for the rhythm you actually have rather than the one that is cheapest on paper: buy a 50ml at ₹749 roughly every seven weeks, which is ₹749 × 7 ≈ ₹5,243 across the year. That is ₹1,595 more than the ₹3,648 plan for the same single room, and it is still inside ₹6,000. A plan you can follow beats a plan you abandon in March.
The second is when what you want is not more fragrance but control over it. If the requirement is a room scented at eight o'clock and quiet at midnight, no reed plan delivers it at any price, because a reed diffuser is passive by design and has no on switch. That is a Sukoon at ₹1,899 — 270–320 sq ft, 16–18 hours on low, remote, steady/2H/4H timers, three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances in the box — and it fits inside ₹6,000 with room for fragrance at 15ml ₹299, 100ml ₹999 or 300ml ₹1,799. Buy it for control, never for strength. And do not read the Megh at ₹3,499 as the bigger version of it: it holds six litres and runs about 100 hours, but covers roughly 215 sq ft — less than a Sukoon. It is a runtime and humidity machine, and it is never a coverage upgrade.
The third is when the room has a smell you want gone. No budget solves that, because a reed diffuser adds a fragrance alongside whatever is already in the air; it does not clean, purify or filter, and it removes or neutralises nothing. Find the source, ventilate or extract, and add fragrance afterwards — in that order. And if a smell keeps returning after cleaning, that is moisture telling you something is still wet, and SOSA sells nothing that addresses it. Spending ₹6,000 on the wrong problem is the most expensive thing on this page.
Part four — when in the year to actually spend
The same ₹6,000, arranged as a calendar rather than a shopping list. Two of these months are deliberately empty, and that is the whole technique.
| Where you are in the year | What to do | What it costs | Running total against ₹6,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Month one — starting from nothing ★ | Buy one 130ml at ₹1,249 for the room you sit in | ₹1,249 · clears free shipping at ₹499 | ₹1,249 spent · ₹4,751 remaining |
| Months two and three | Nothing. Flip six reeds weekly with gloves | ₹0 | ₹1,249 spent · ₹4,751 remaining |
| Month four or five — the bottle empties | Buy the 300ml refill ₹2,399; keep glass and reeds | ₹2,399 · about ₹7–8 per ml | ₹3,648 spent · ₹2,352 remaining |
| Months six to twelve | Nothing. The 300ml has about 2.3 fills in it | ₹0 | ₹3,648 spent · ₹2,352 remaining |
| You want a second room after all | Add one 50ml — Evening Calm ₹799 for a bedroom | ₹799 from the ₹2,352 you held back | ₹4,447 spent · ₹1,553 remaining |
| Year two, starting with glass and reeds in hand | Buy oil only — 500ml ₹3,499, roughly 14–18 months | ₹3,499 for well over a year | ₹3,499 against a fresh ₹6,000 |
Versailles
For a long time I answered budget questions with recommendations, and the recommendations were always things to buy. It took a customer in Pune emailing me a photograph of her cupboard to understand what that produces: nine part-used objects, none of them finished, bought one a month because the money arrived one month at a time. She had spent more than ₹6,000 that year and her flat had smelled of very little.
What she needed was not a better product but a different rhythm. Two purchases, four months apart, and the discipline to leave the budget alone in between. It is an unglamorous thing to sell — most of my year-plan advice consists of the word nothing, repeated for seven months — but it is the version that works.
The part I insist on is keeping the vessel. Our refills are oil only, we do not sell reeds separately, and I will not pretend that gap is a design decision. So keep the glass, wipe the reeds from any bottle that empties cleanly, stand them in a jar, and your second year costs ₹3,499 for fourteen to eighteen months. That is the whole trick, and it is free. Made in small batches in Pune, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.

A reed diffuser adds fragrance to a room. It does not clean, purify or filter air, remove or neutralise cooking, damp or smoke smells, reduce humidity, or change how anyone feels. A reed diffuser adds no moisture to the air; ultrasonic machines work by aerosolising water and therefore do. A persistent musty smell indicates moisture that needs finding and drying, and SOSA sells no dehumidifier or air purifier. Ventilate or extract first; add fragrance second. Evaporation rate rises with warmth and falls with humidity, and airflow carries scent away from the bottle — so performance varies with season, ventilation, ceiling height and room use; longevity figures are typical ranges, not guarantees. Not noticing a constant fragrance is ordinary olfactory adaptation; the reliable checks are leaving the room and returning, or asking someone who has just arrived. Strength figures are positions on SOSA’s own internal scale, not an industry standard. Fragrance oil is flammable — keep bottles away from open flame and out of direct sunlight, and out of reach of children and pets.
