Founder Diaries · Home Fragrance · How Many to Buy
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 10 min read Updated August 2026
This is the question underneath every other question in this series, so here is the whole answer in one sentence. Buy one Sukoon for every room you close the door on — and once that number passes about four, stop counting and change technology instead.
Quick answers — read this first
The rule: one Sukoon (₹1,899) per enclosed room — not per 300 sq ft.

By home: studio 1, 1BHK 2, 2BHK 2–3, 3BHK 3, 4BHK and above a Vaayu plus bedroom Sukoons.

The ceiling: past four machines, tank-filling beats you. That is the Vaayu's job.
The short answer
Short answer: one Sukoon for every room you close the door on. That is one for a studio, two for a 1BHK, two or three for a 2BHK, three for a 3BHK, and a Vaayu plus bedroom Sukoons for anything larger. Fragrance is stopped by doors long before it is exhausted by distance, so doors are the unit — not square feet.
The pick: start with one Sukoon at ₹1,899 (three 15ml Hotel Collection scents included), add the second at ₹3,798 total, the third at ₹5,697. Past four machines, a Vaayu at ₹11,999 covers connected volume up to 1000m³ without a single tank to fill.
Shop: the Sukoon, the Vaayu and the Hotel Collection from ₹299.
Straight answer
How many Sukoons should I buy for my home?
1. One per room you close the door on. Not one per 300 sq ft. Fragrance stops at doors long before it runs out of reach, so doors are the unit of measurement.

2. By home type: studio 1 (₹1,899), 1BHK 2 (₹3,798), 2BHK 2–3 (₹3,798–₹5,697), 3BHK 3 (₹5,697).

3. Buy one, live with it a fortnight, then add. Nothing becomes redundant, each machine brings three more 15ml Hotel Collection bottles, and most people stop one machine earlier than they expected to.

4. Past about four machines, change technology. Four tanks is where the routine collapses. A Vaayu at ₹11,999 holds up to 1000m³ of connected space with nothing to fill.

5. If you are between numbers, buy the scent instead. A ₹299 bottle changes a room more reliably than a fourth machine in a home that does not have a fourth room.

A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
TL;DR: one Sukoon per room you close the door on — studio 1, 1BHK 2, 2BHK 2–3, 3BHK 3 — and past four machines swap counting for a Vaayu.
SOSA Sukoon
The unit of measurement
SOSA Sukoon ₹1,899
One 500ml ultrasonic diffuser covering 270–320 sq ft — which is one closed room in almost every Indian home. 16–18 hours per fill on low, remote, 2H/4H timers, and three 15ml Hotel Collection scents of your choice included, so each machine you add also adds three fragrances.

The one rule that scales from a studio to a villa

Almost every guide online tells you to divide your floor area by a coverage figure. It is the wrong method for a home, and it is wrong in a way that always costs you money — it over-orders in open flats and under-orders in partitioned ones. The rule that actually predicts what happens indoors is simpler and free to apply.

1
THE RULE
Count doors, not square feet
Walk your home and count the spaces you have to open something to enter. That number is your machine count. Four hundred square feet needs one diffuser as a studio and three as a 2BHK — identical floor area, completely different answer — because the walls, not the distance, are what stop fragrance.
2
THE ARITHMETIC TRAP
Dividing floor area rounds you into a mistake
A 400 sq ft studio divided by a 270–320 sq ft rating comes to 1.33, which rounds to two, which is wrong — a studio is one connected air mass and a second unit just makes the same air heavy. The same arithmetic in a 1,200 sq ft 2BHK gives four, which is also wrong, because two of those rooms are 120 sq ft bedrooms that share nothing with the living room.
The honest test: stand at each doorway in your home. Every door you would normally close is a machine. Every opening you never close is part of the room next to it.
3
THE EXCEPTIONS
Volume, and vertical
Two situations break the door rule, both about air volume rather than floor plan. A double-height or loft space has far more air than its footprint suggests — that is a Megh (₹3,499) or a Vaayu. And a staircase is a chimney, not a corridor: warm air rises and takes scent with it, so every storey counts separately however open the stairwell looks.

Every home, counted

Find your home on the left. These are the numbers we would give a friend, including where the honest answer is a range rather than a figure.

The master count
How many Sukoons, by home type
Home Enclosed rooms Buy Cost
Studio, 300–450 sq ft 1 1 × Sukoon ₹1,899
1BHK, 500–650 sq ft 2 2 × Sukoon — bedroom + living ₹3,798
2BHK, 900–1,200 sq ft ★ 3 2 to 3 × Sukoon ₹3,798–₹5,697
3BHK, 1,400–1,800 sq ft 4 3 × Sukoon ₹5,697
4BHK, 2,000–3,000 sq ft 5–6 Vaayu + 4 × Sukoon ₹19,595
Villa, 3,000–6,000 sq ft 8–12 Vaayu + 4–6 × Sukoon ₹19,595–₹23,393

What the count actually buys
The SOSA principle
Four hundred square feet is one diffuser as a studio and three as a 2BHK.
The walls are the whole story. Once you count doors instead of square feet, every home in India answers itself in under a minute.

When to stop counting

The door rule works beautifully up to about four machines and then quietly stops being good advice. Not because the arithmetic changes — a six-room home really does have six enclosed spaces — but because four tanks is roughly where the human routine collapses. We have specified enough large homes as all-Sukoon to know how it ends: by the second month half the units are empty and nobody can say which.

So above four rooms the question changes shape. Instead of "how many rooms", ask "how much of this home is genuinely connected". In a 4BHK or a villa, the entrance, living, dining and circulation usually flow into each other with no doors at all — one volume, not four rooms. That volume is what a Vaayu at ₹11,999 is for: waterless, rated to 1000m³, scheduled from an app, with nothing to fill. Keep Sukoon units in the bedrooms, where individual control is the actual point.

And there is a smaller version of the same instinct that applies at every size. If you are hesitating between two machines and three, buy two machines and a ₹299 bottle. A home with three scents and two diffusers feels more considered than one with three diffusers and one scent — because variety is what you notice, and coverage is only what you miss.

Count the doors you close. That number has never once let me down, from a 340 square foot flat to a six-bedroom house.

The count as a shopping list, whatever size you are starting from.

The SOSA edit
Buy in this order, whatever the home
Buy What it does When Price
1. First Sukoon ★ Your most-used room; 270–320 sq ft, three 15ml scents included Now — living room in most homes ₹1,899
2. Second Sukoon The bedroom — the other room you spend hours in Within a few weeks, unless you live in a studio ₹1,899
3. Hotel Collection Scents four and five, or the Pack of 7 Before a third machine, in most homes ₹299 / ₹1,799
4. Third Sukoon The second bedroom or study In a 2BHK or larger, once the first two are settled ₹1,899
5. 300ml refill Months of your everyday scent, lowest cost per ml After the first month ₹1,799
Past four rooms: Vaayu Up to 1000m³ of connected space, waterless, scheduled Instead of machines five and six ₹11,999
Honest notes for buyers: the Sukoon covers 270–320 sq ft, which is why a studio needs exactly one and a 3BHK needs three or a Vaayu instead. Ultrasonic diffusers are water-based and add a little humidity to the room, which is a benefit in an AC-dry home and a consideration in a damp coastal one; they run SOSA's own water-based Hotel Collection fragrance and nothing else, because thicker essential and carrier oils clog the 2.4MHz misting plate. The Vaayu and the HVAC systems are waterless nebulisers running undiluted oil — a different technology, not a bigger Sukoon, and the better choice for long daily runs across connected space. Fragrance layers on top of clean air; it does not replace an extractor fan, an open window or a bin that gets emptied. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
SOSA Vaayu
When counting stops working
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999
A waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ with Bluetooth scheduling and under 38dB running noise. This is what replaces the count once your connected, doorless space is bigger than one Sukoon can hold — not a bigger Sukoon, a different technology. It does not run the water-based Hotel Collection bottles.

A note from Sonal

I have been asked this question in a hundred forms and the honest answer has never changed: count the doors you close. It works in a 340 square foot flat and it works in a six-bedroom house, and it is the only rule in home fragrance I would defend without qualification.

What I would add is the part nobody wants to hear. Most people should buy one fewer machine than they think and one more bottle. A fourth diffuser in a three-room home does nothing at all; a fourth fragrance changes every room in it.

Everything is made and supported from Pune, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. You get a home that smells like somewhere you chose; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.

Frequently asked questions

How many Sukoons should I buy for my home?
One for every room you close the door on. A studio needs one (₹1,899), a 1BHK two (₹3,798), a 2BHK two or three (₹3,798–₹5,697), a 3BHK three (₹5,697). Past about four machines, a Vaayu at ₹11,999 replaces the count.
Should I count square feet or rooms?
Rooms — specifically enclosed spaces behind a door. Fragrance is stopped by doors long before it is exhausted by distance, which is why 400 sq ft needs one Sukoon as a studio and three as a 2BHK despite identical floor area.
How many Sukoons for a 2BHK?
Two as the sensible minimum (₹3,798 — living room and master bedroom) and three for the complete answer (₹5,697, which includes nine 15ml Hotel Collection bottles between the machines). The second bedroom is the one that depends on whether it is genuinely used.
Is it better to buy more diffusers or more fragrances?
In a home where every enclosed room already has a machine, more fragrances. A 15ml Hotel Collection bottle at ₹299 changes how a room feels; a second machine in a room that already has one just makes it heavier.
When should I buy a Vaayu instead of more Sukoons?
When your count passes about four machines, or when a large part of your home is connected with no doors — an open living-dining, a double-height room. The Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless nebuliser rated to 1000m³, not a bigger Sukoon, and it does not run the water-based Hotel Collection bottles.
