Why four of the seven spaces get nothing

The instinct in a flat this size is to work outward from a plan and put something in every square that has a name. It produces a worse-smelling home than doing half as much, and the reason is that four of those spaces are hostile to fragrance for reasons no machine can fix. A kitchen defeats every diffuser ever made while it is in use — frying, tempering and boiling put far more volatile material into the air than a 500ml ultrasonic tank ever will, and layering jasmine over that produces something worse than either on its own. A bathroom is small, already humid, and fitted with an extractor whose job is to remove airborne everything; a water-based mist in there works against the ventilation.

The passage and the entrance fail differently — not because fragrance cannot survive there, but because it is not where you are. A 2BHK corridor is three or four metres of floor you cross a dozen times a day for four seconds at a time, and it is the most ventilated part of the flat. A machine placed there is diluted the moment anything moves, and it scents the only space nobody sits in. The entrance is the same problem in miniature, with one difference worth acting on: it is where first impressions form, so rather than buying a machine for it, move the living room Sukoon to the end of the room nearest the front door. You get the entrance for free, out of a machine you were buying anyway.

Living room, then master — in that order

SOSA Sukoon₹1,899If you are only buying one machine, it goes in the living or dining area — it is the largest volume, the one that carries the entrance, and the one other people experience. The master is second because you are asleep for most of the hours you spend in it, which is real value but a quieter kind. The second bedroom is third and often does not arrive at all. Two Sukoons is ₹3,798 and is where the majority of 2BHKs should finish. Note that a Megh at ₹3,499 does not solve any of this — it covers 215 sq ft, less than a Sukoon, and exists for 100-hour runtime and dry-air relief in a single room.

The room-by-room plan

Every space in a typical 2BHK — roughly 700–1,100 sq ft in total — with what belongs there, the dose, and when it should be running. Four of the seven entries are deliberately empty.

Doses, timers and the running order

Doses first, because they are the thing people get wrong in a bedroom. The Hotel Collection guidance is three to six drops per tank, and in a 2BHK the useful split is four to five in the living area and two to three in the master. That is not a smaller amount of fragrance for a less important room — it is the amount that produces the same perceived strength. A bedroom is a smaller, more enclosed volume, and you are lying still in it for hours rather than moving through it, so an identical dose reads considerably heavier. A study or second bedroom with a Boond takes two drops; the tank is 300ml rather than 500ml, so the concentration works out similar.

Then the running order, which is where a plan stops being a diagram. The living room machine should come on about an hour before you actually use the room — around six in the evening for most households — and go off when you leave it. Use the 2H timer rather than steady. The master machine wants thirty to sixty minutes ahead of bedtime and then nothing; running it through the night in a closed room over-scents by morning. The second bedroom machine runs only when somebody is in there. Nothing here needs sixteen hours of running, however long the tank lasts.

Two sequencing notes specific to a 2BHK. If your living and dining space is open to the kitchen — which it very often is at this size — do not try to run the diffuser through cooking. Extractor on, window open, and start the machine once the cooking smell has cleared; scent layered over frying is worse than either alone. And if you run different fragrances in the living room and the master, be aware that the passage will carry both. Keeping them in the same family, or running one scent at two doses, avoids that. Rinse tanks between scents, use filtered water in hard-water cities, and never put raw oils in an ultrasonic.
