Should I buy the 12ml or the 3ml? Buy the 12ml only for a scent he has already proved he likes - a bottle you have watched him finish, or one he asks for by name. If you are inferring his taste from the fact that he once wore sandalwood, the 3ml at ₹379 to ₹399 is the honest size and the Trio is the honest alternative.
Which attar suits a father who runs a business? The two that read as traditional. Nawaab is white royal oud with Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron; Ameeri is Taif rose with Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron and soft oudh. Both are alcohol-free oil rolled onto the pulse points, so they sit close to the skin rather than carrying across a room full of people.
What the extra money buys, and what it does not
Spending properly on something worn is a good instinct and it fails in a specific way. The money goes into volume rather than into accuracy, and volume is the one thing that cannot be returned to you if the guess was wrong. These three checks take about a minute between them.
The reason this matters more at the top of the range is arithmetic rather than taste. A wrong 3ml at ₹379 is a small experiment and often gets used anyway. A wrong 12ml at ₹1,199 is four times the oil of something he does not reach for, and an attar does not evaporate quietly the way an open perfume does - it sits there, full, for a very long time.
The 6ml at ₹669 to ₹699 is the size almost nobody considers and it is the best-balanced of the three for a first proper gift. It is unmistakably a full bottle rather than a sample, it carries a man who wears attar a few times a week through many months, and it leaves the 12ml as something to buy the second time, once the guess has stopped being a guess.
For a father who runs a business, that framing usually lands better than a single large bottle does, because the gift is three real scents rather than one verdict on his taste. The 3ml Trio at ₹1,055 is the version to buy first if you want to know what he actually reaches for; the ₹3,189 version is for a case where you already know all three suit him and you are buying a year of wearing rather than a trial.
- Say out loud what he wears. If you hedge, drop to 3ml at Rs 379 or the Trio.
- If it is proved, pick the scent first: Nawaab Rs 1,199 or Ameeri Rs 1,165.
- If it is a first proper bottle, take the 6ml at Rs 669 to Rs 699 instead.
- Buy the 12ml only as the second bottle, once he has finished a smaller one.
The four 12ml attars, the Rs 3,189 Trio, and how to choose between them
Between the four, the choice for a father who has worn traditional scents comes down to two. Nawaab at ₹1,199 for 12ml is white royal oud with Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron - it is the deepest and the most obviously an attar of the four, and it is the one to pick if oud is already in his life. Ameeri at ₹1,165 is Taif rose with Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron and soft oudh - warmer, rounder, and the better call if he leans to rose and sandalwood rather than to smoke. Mastani at ₹1,179 is night-blooming jasmine with damask rose and oudh, which is an evening scent rather than an everyday one, and Adaa at ₹1,149 is bergamot, green cardamom and jasmine sambac with white musk - bright and citrus-green, and the right answer for somebody who finds oud heavy. None of the four is published as a scent for one gender or the other, so choose on character rather than on a label.
| The option | Who it suits, and where it fails |
|---|---|
| A 12ml single · ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 | The premium end of the range: Adaa ₹1,149, Ameeri ₹1,165, Mastani ₹1,179, Nawaab ₹1,199. The correct buy when the scent is settled and he wears it regularly. It fails harder than anything else here when the scent was a guess, because four times the oil of the wrong thing does not get used up and quietly disappear. |
| The 12ml Attar Trio · ₹3,189 | Three 12ml bottles of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in one box. The top of the attar range and the safest large purchase in it, because the decision moves to him. It fails only if you already know that two of the three are wrong for him, in which case one 12ml of the right scent is the better spend. |
| The 6ml · ₹669 to ₹699 | The size almost nobody looks at, and the best-balanced first proper bottle. Unmistakably a full bottle rather than a trial, months of wearing for somebody who uses attar a few times a week, and it leaves the 12ml as a second purchase. It fails only against a reader who specifically wants the largest thing in the range. |
| The 3ml Trio · ₹1,055 | Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in 3ml each. Slightly less than a single 12ml, and it answers the question the 12ml assumes has already been answered. The right premium gift when you genuinely cannot name what he wears. It fails as a gesture only if you needed the gift to look like one large object rather than three small ones. |
One practical note on format, since this is the page where somebody is most likely to move up. An attar is alcohol-free concentrated oil applied to the pulse points, not sprayed, so it sits close to the skin and does not fill a room the way a perfume does. That is a feature for a father who spends his day close to other people across a table, and it is the reason a 12ml lasts as long as it does - the dose is a roll, not three pumps. If what you actually want is something that carries further, the SOSA perfumes are a different product at ₹599 for 10ml, and the honest thing to say is that they are SOSA compositions in their own right; where one is described as inspired by a designer fragrance it is not that fragrance, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with those brands.
The SOSA gifting range
Three questions settle almost every father gift. Will it be worn, in which case it is a taste decision and you need to be able to finish the sentence he usually wears something with...? Does it go in his car, where the only real choice is between the mild hanging format and the stronger spray at the same price, and where the gift is noticed every single morning? Or does it sit in a room, which is the answer for a retired father or one who works from home, and which asks nothing of you except knowing which room he actually sits in? Answer that first, then pick the band - because the commonest mistake here is spending more to cover up not knowing.
| Gift | What it is | Who it suits | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| SOSA attars | Alcohol-free roll-on oil | Nawaab is the oud one and Ameeri the rose-and-sandalwood one - the traditional formats most Indian fathers already recognise | from ₹379 |
| SOSA Attar Trio | Pack of three attars | Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in one box - for when you cannot name what he wears | from ₹1,055 |
| SOSA car fragrance | Hanging or spray | Nine scents, each in a mild hanging format and a stronger spray at the same price - the gap in most fathers' lives | from ₹449 |
| SOSA Safar | Waterless car and travel diffuser | Cordless, rechargeable cold diffusion for a father who genuinely drives for hours or lives out of a suitcase | ₹3,999 |
| SOSA reed diffusers | Passive home fragrance | Five scents in 50ml and 130ml, nothing to plug in or switch off, about 6 to 10 weeks - the retired-father answer | from ₹749 |
| SOSA reed duo sets | Two reeds in one box | Day & Night, Fresh & Grounded and Warmth & Bloom - a gift to both parents rather than one | from ₹1,498 |
| SOSA Vaayu | Waterless cold-air machine | Approx 1000 m3 of connected air with a Bluetooth app and timer - a large home or his business premises | ₹11,999 |
Three different fluids run through this range and none of them is interchangeable. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil. The SOSA ultrasonics - Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899 and Megh ₹3,499 - run the water-based Hotel Collection from ₹299. Vaayu and Safar run waterless nebulising oil, so the ₹299 water-based bottle never goes into either of them. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
- Attars - Adaa ₹379 / ₹669 / ₹1,149, Ameeri ₹385 / ₹679 / ₹1,165, Mastani ₹389 / ₹685 / ₹1,179 and Nawaab ₹399 / ₹699 / ₹1,199 in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. The Attar Trio is ₹1,055, ₹1,859 or ₹3,189.
- Reed diffusers - Morning Freshness ₹749, Garden Bloom and Evening Calm ₹799, Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew ₹849 in 50ml; 130ml from ₹1,249. They last about 6 to 10 weeks. Duo sets from ₹1,498.
- Car fragrance - nine scents from ₹449 to ₹549, each in a mild hanging format and a stronger spray at the same price, with 50ml sprays at ₹1,499 and saver combos at ₹899 to ₹949. Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios.

Versailles
A striking number of the messages we get start the same way: my father says he doesn't want anything. In my experience that sentence almost never means what it says. It usually means do not spend money on me, which is a different instruction entirely, and it is one you can actually follow. The gift that works is small, it is used up rather than kept, and it goes somewhere he already is. That is why so much of what I recommend for fathers costs between ₹379 and ₹1,000, and why I am perfectly happy to talk somebody out of the bigger box.
The second thing I say is: look at his car. An Indian father who commutes has a space that belongs entirely to him, that he spends more waking hours in than any room of the house, and that he has almost certainly never spent a rupee on making pleasant. A ₹449 hanging bottle is noticed on the first morning and every morning after, which is more than most gifts three times the price manage. If he does not drive, look at what he wears - and if he has worn sandalwood or oud his whole life, an attar is not a novelty to him, it is the format he grew up with.
One honest caution about the first-salary gift, because we see it often and it is lovely. The instinct is to spend the whole feeling in one purchase, and to buy the most expensive thing in the range to make the point. The point does not need an expensive object to be made. Most fathers I hear about kept the small thing and mentioned the amount for years. Spend it on accuracy - the right scent, the right format, the right place - and put whatever is left back in your own account, which is a thing he would approve of more than the gift.

Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent and does not remove, neutralise or purify odour, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial, air-purifying or wellbeing claim. No claim is made about how any recipient will feel about a gift, and nothing here is a claim about mood, stress, calm or sleep: a fragrance is a scent, not a treatment, and where a product name contains a word such as Calm that is a name and not an effect. Recommendations by profession, age or routine describe where a person spends their day and nothing more; they are not claims about anybody's health, and no product here is suitable for use in a clinical setting on that basis. No delivery date, dispatch time, order cut-off, discount or minimum order quantity is stated anywhere on this page; corporate and bulk enquiries are answered on WhatsApp. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand; the SOSA perfumes are SOSA's own compositions and are not the designer fragrances they are described as being inspired by.
