An award ceremony is attended almost entirely by the winner's professional world - peers, competitors, people who have a view about whether it should have gone to somebody else. A friend is usually not in that room, which feels like a disadvantage and is the opposite: it means your congratulations arrive from a place with no politics in it at all.
Quick answers — read this first
What should I give a friend who won an award? Something personal rather than professional - a 12ml attar at Rs 379 to Rs 399, the Attar Trio at Rs 1,055, a candle at Rs 379, or a solid perfume at Rs 459 to Rs 549.

What can a friend say that colleagues cannot? That it was overdue, or that you watched the years it took. Peers congratulate carefully because they were in the field too; a friend has nothing at stake.

Should it be another trophy-like object? No. They already own the commemorative object. Give something private and used rather than something else to display.
The short answer
Short answer: An award ceremony is attended mainly by the winner's professional world, where congratulations are polite but complicated by proximity. A friend's acknowledgement arrives from outside that and can say what peers cannot - that it was overdue, or that you watched the years behind it. Avoid a second commemorative object, since the trophy already does that job: give something private instead, such as a 12ml alcohol-free attar at Rs 379 to Rs 399, the Attar Trio at Rs 1,055, a coconut-soy candle at Rs 379, or a solid perfume at Rs 459 to Rs 549.
The pick: a SOSA return gift - consumable, no shelf space, from ₹299 a head.
Bulk: 10 to 200+ pieces quoted on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. Rates are not published here.
Congratulations gifts - at a glanceNo ledger here - nobody owes anybody, so generosity costs them nothingEverybody congratulates for 48 hours, then it stops deadA first only happens once - the second one gets nothingFrom ₹299 · homes, cars, books, awards, goals
A congratulations gift is not settling a debt - nobody owes anybody here, which is why generosity creates no obligation in return. Its job is to mark what somebody did, ideally after the first two days when everybody else has already moved on. Workplace recipients may still fall under gift policies that cap what they can accept, so check before sending. Gifts start at Rs 299, and anything can be checked on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 first.
Straight answer
What should I give a friend who received an award?
Something personal rather than professional - and say the thing colleagues cannot. Peers congratulate carefully, because they were in the same field and some of them were in the same category. You have nothing at stake, so you can write that it was overdue, or that you watched the four years it took. The gift: a 12ml alcohol-free attar at ₹379 to ₹399, worn quietly rather than displayed - or the Attar Trio at ₹1,055 where they choose. For a long effort: a solid perfume at ₹459 to ₹549. Simple and legible: a coconut-soy candle at ₹379. Not another trophy - they already have one. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
Peers congratulate carefully. You do not have to. From Rs 379.
If you want one answer for a mixed guest list: hanging car perfume from ₹449, because almost every adult guest drives and almost nobody has done anything about their car. Bulk quantities quoted on WhatsApp.

You were not in the room, and that is the advantage

Consider who was actually in the room. An award ceremony is populated by the winner's professional world: peers, colleagues, competitors, people who were shortlisted in the same category, people who have a private opinion about the panel. The congratulations in that room are warm and also slightly complicated, because everybody there has a relationship to the thing being judged. Nobody says anything unkind, but the winner can feel the difference between a congratulation from somebody who was in the running and one from somebody who was not. Meanwhile, the people who actually watched the work happen - the ones who saw the year it was going badly, who heard about it at dinner for four years, who noticed them getting quieter in the difficult months - were mostly not invited, because it was a professional event. That is the gap a friend fills, and it is bigger than it looks. Your acknowledgement is the only one with no field politics in it and no career adjacency, which means it can say things nobody in that room could say without it being loaded. Two examples that friends are uniquely able to write. The first is that it was overdue. A peer cannot say that, because it implies a judgement about previous years and previous winners. You can, and almost every long-overdue award winner has been waiting to hear somebody say it plainly. The second is the arc. You can name the specific bad year, the project that did not work, the point at which they considered stopping - the version of them that existed before this was plausible. Nobody at the ceremony knew about any of that, because professional worlds only see finished work. Three sentences of that is the entire gift, and the object is what you attach it to. Now, what not to give. Do not give another commemorative object. They are already holding one in the photograph, and a trophy is very good at its job - anything else that announces the occasion is competing with it and adds to the display obligation, which is the quiet cost of owning objects that mark events: they cannot be moved to a cupboard or given away without a small disloyalty. Your gift should be the opposite kind of thing - private, used, and finished when it is finished. On timing, an award produces one of the most compressed congratulation waves of any achievement: the evening itself, the photographs, forty-eight hours of messages, and then a hard stop by day four. Awards are also unusually flat afterwards, because unlike a house or a business there is nothing to do next - the thing is over, the certificate is on a shelf, and Monday is an ordinary Monday. A gift arriving two or three weeks later lands precisely there, with nothing else in the room. One practical note. If your friend received the award in a professional capacity, they may be covered by an employer gift policy that caps the value of what they can accept or requires them to declare it. In regulated industries, listed companies, government-adjacent roles and many multinationals this is strict and they have no discretion at all. Keep it modest if you are unsure and prefer a home address to an office; their policy governs and nothing here is legal or compliance advice. Now the objects. An alcohol-free attar at three hundred and seventy-nine to three hundred and ninety-nine rupees is the best fit, because the public half of this achievement has already been handled thoroughly and what is missing is anything private. An attar is twelve millilitres of undiluted perfume oil in a glass roll-on with no alcohol carrier, which means it does not spray or project - it opens quietly and stays within roughly an arm's length, worn for the wearer rather than announced. Adaa at three hundred and seventy-nine rupees is bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and white musk. Ameeri at three hundred and eighty-five is Taif rose with Indian sandalwood. Mastani at three hundred and eighty-nine is night jasmine and Damask rose. Nawaab at three hundred and ninety-nine is a white oud composition built with Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron rather than a dehn al oud distillate, which is worth stating plainly. The Attar Trio at one thousand and fifty-five rupees hands the choice over, which is the reliable way to give a worn fragrance to somebody whose taste you are not certain about. A solid perfume at four hundred and fifty-nine to five hundred and forty-nine rupees suits an award that recognises years rather than a single piece of work, because it is the format that gets carried through something: fifteen grams of alcohol-free balm in a flat compact, applied with a finger, spill-proof, no cap to lose, six to eight hours, surviving months in a bag. Titan at five hundred is Arabica coffee, roasted wood, black pepper, frankincense and leather. Sterling at four hundred and sixty-nine is coconut milk, almond nougat, white amber and powdered musk. Siren at four hundred and eighty-nine is black cherry, espresso, warm vanilla and cedar smoke. Velour at four hundred and seventy-nine is vanilla bean, butter biscuit, toasted almond and whipped cream. A coconut-soy candle at three hundred and seventy-nine rupees is legible on sight, needs no explanation, and is used rather than displayed - all of which suit this occasion. Lead-free eco wick, phthalate-free, hand-poured in small batches in Pune, fifteen to eighteen hours, in Misty Mornings with Nilgiri orchid and sun-ripened nectarine, Bookshop with cedarwood, sage and lemon, Evening Walks with frankincense and tonka, or Cozy Corner with spiced pear and golden honey. Two at seven hundred and fifty-eight rupees with a written note is a complete gift rather than a token. A reed diffuser at seven hundred and forty-nine to eight hundred and forty-nine rupees works if there is a home study or a room they work from - a minute to set up, then nothing at all, running two to three months with no flame, no socket and no switch. Reeds use their own alcohol-free reed oil drawn up rattan; it is a separate system, so reed oil never goes into a machine, and the water-based Hotel Collection concentrate at two hundred and ninety-nine rupees is ultrasonic-only at three to six drops per tank. One last thought, which applies particularly to friends. If the award was for something that took years, there is usually somebody in their life who absorbed the cost of those years - a partner who covered everything else, a parent, somebody who picked up the slack. A small second gift there, given quietly, is one of the more thoughtful things anybody does at this moment, and you are in a far better position to notice it than anybody who was at the ceremony.

A note from Sonal

There is a pattern I noticed years before we sold anything, and it is the reason this section exists. Somebody achieves something that took them years - the flat, the first car bought outright, the manuscript finished at last - and for about forty-eight hours the phone does not stop. Then it stops completely. The achievement took three years; the celebrating took a weekend, and then everybody went back to their own lives, which is not unkind, it is just how attention works.

Which means a gift arriving in week two or three lands in an empty field. That is the single most useful thing on any of these pages and it costs nothing. The second is that a congratulations gift is not repaying anything: nobody owes anybody here, so there is no ledger to balance and no risk of over-gifting into an obligation. You are free to be as generous as the relationship allows. And write the note about what they did, not about how you feel - name the four years, the thing they gave up, the draft they rewrote eleven times.

Two honest things. If somebody has just bought a new car, do not buy them something to cover the smell of it - most new owners like it, it fades on its own, and a fragrance is better introduced a few weeks later in a restrained register. And if somebody has bought a new home, size the gift to the home: our Vaayu is a waterless nebuliser built for spaces of roughly a thousand cubic metres, which is a hotel lobby rather than a three-bedroom flat, and we would rather tell you that than sell you one. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with what they achieved and what their place is like, and we will say honestly if we think fragrance is the wrong call. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Frequently asked questions

What should I give a friend who won an award?
Something personal and private - an attar at Rs 379 to Rs 399, the Attar Trio at Rs 1,055, two candles at Rs 758, or a solid perfume at Rs 459.
Should I give something engraved?
No. They already own the commemorative object, and a second one competes with it while adding to the display obligation.
What can I say that their colleagues cannot?
That it was overdue, and what the years actually looked like. Peers congratulate carefully because they were in the same field and sometimes the same category.
When should it arrive?
Two or three weeks after the ceremony. The wave lasts forty-eight hours, and awards are unusually flat afterwards because there is nothing to do next.
Is there anybody else I should think of?
Often, yes. If the award was for years of work, somebody absorbed the cost of those years - a small second gift there is what almost nobody thinks to do.
