"Commercial" is not a strength grade. It is a specification written for a building where nobody lives
Commercial scenting is specified for five things: unattended duty, scheduling, consistency across a large connected volume, HVAC integration, and fragrance bought at litre scale.
What the word actually means
Not "stronger"
A home can use one of those five. The rest assume open floors, uniform occupancy and central air handling — none of which a flat of closed rooms has.
Why most of it does not transfer
Homes are discontinuous
The one that does transfer is volume. A double-height living room or a villa great room is genuinely a commercial-scale body of air, and the Vaayu at ₹11,999 is the right instrument for it.
The exception
Vaayu ₹11,999
The Aangan at ₹25,999 is ducted HVAC nebulising for 8,000–10,000 sq ft. It scents everywhere the air handling reaches — which also means bedrooms lose their independent control.
What ducted scenting costs you
Aangan ₹25,999
The genuine home case is a home doing commercial work: a villa let out on weekends, a homestay, a clinic or studio in the house, where consistency on a schedule is the point.
When a home qualifies
A house with guests
For everyone else: one Sukoon at ₹1,899 per air space actually used, on the water-based Hotel Collection from ₹299. Commercial machines cannot run those fragrances.

There is no strength grade hiding in the word. A commercial scent machine is not a domestic one with the volume turned up; it is a specification written for a building where nobody lives — open floors, uniform occupancy, central air handling and hours when the place is empty. Of the five things that specification buys, a normal home can use exactly one, and the useful part of this question is working out whether yours is the exception.
Quick answers — read this first
What commercial actually specifies: unattended continuous duty, scheduled and centralised control, consistency across a large connected volume, HVAC integration, and fragrance at litre scale.

What a home can use: the volume, if it has a double-height or villa-scale connected space. The rest assumes a building of open floors.

The genuine exception: a home doing commercial work — a homestay, a villa let for weekends, a clinic or studio in the house. There, consistency on a schedule is the whole point.
The short answer
Short answer: No, for almost every home. A Vaayu at ₹11,999 or an Aangan at ₹25,999 is specified for large connected volume and unattended running, and a flat of closed rooms cannot use either property. One Sukoon at ₹1,899 per air space you actually use is both cheaper and more effective.
The three homes where yes is the right answer: A double-height living room or villa great room, where the volume is genuinely commercial in scale; a large ducted property with central air handling, where the Aangan can work through the ducts; and a home that is also a business — a homestay, a villa let for weekends, a clinic or studio in the house.
The trade nobody mentions: Commercial machines run neat oil, so the water-based Hotel Collection cannot be used in them. A ducted system also removes room-by-room control: everywhere the air handling reaches gets the same fragrance at the same time, including the bedrooms.
Straight answer
Does a home need a commercial scent machine?
1. Almost never, and not for the reason people assume. The objection is not that commercial machines are too strong — output is adjustable on all of them. It is that four of the five things a commercial specification buys assume a building of open floors and central air, and a home is a set of separate rooms with doors that close.

2. What "commercial" actually buys. Unattended continuous duty, so it can run for months without anybody touching it. Scheduling and centralised control. Consistency across a large connected volume. Integration with HVAC. And fragrance economics at litre scale. Read that list against a two-bedroom flat and most of it has nowhere to land.

3. The one property that does transfer is volume. A double-height living room or a villa great room is genuinely a commercial-scale body of air, and no ultrasonic will hold it. That is where a Vaayu at ₹11,999 stops being extravagant and starts being the correct instrument.

4. The Aangan is a different proposition again. At ₹25,999 the Aangan is a ducted HVAC nebulising system for 8,000–10,000 sq ft. It needs central air handling to work through, and it scents everywhere the ducts reach — which means you lose the ability to have a different answer in each room.

5. And the honest exception: a home that is also a business. A villa let for weekends, a homestay, a home clinic or studio where clients arrive. There, the value of commercial equipment — the same impression, at the same strength, on a schedule, without anyone remembering to switch anything on — is exactly the value it has in a hotel.

TL;DR: commercial machines are specified for unattended duty, scheduling, large connected volume and HVAC integration, not for strength. A flat of closed rooms can use none of that. Buy one only for a double-height or villa-scale space, a ducted property, or a home that hosts paying guests.
SOSA Sukoon 500ml ultrasonic cool mist diffuser
The domestic specification, and it is enough
SOSA Sukoon · 500ml ₹1,899
Rated 270–320 sq ft with 16–18 hours per fill on low, a remote, a 7-colour LED and steady / 2H / 4H timers. It gives you the one thing commercial equipment deliberately does not: a different answer in every room, on a different schedule. Three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances included.

What "commercial" is actually specifying

Walk into a good hotel lobby and the reason it smells consistent is not that the machine is powerful. It is that the machine has been running the same programme, at the same intensity, through the same air-handling system, every day for two years, with nobody making a daily decision about it. Commercial scenting sells consistency and indifference to attention, not intensity. The equipment is specified to run unattended for months, to be scheduled centrally, to hold a large open volume evenly, to tie into ducted air where that exists, and to be fed from fragrance bought by the litre so the cost per day is predictable. Every one of those requirements comes from the same fact: the building is large, open, occupied by strangers, and managed by people who have other jobs.

A home is the opposite of that building in almost every respect that matters here. It is discontinuous — a set of rooms with doors, so there is no single volume to hold evenly. It is occupied unevenly, by people who want different things at different hours: somebody working in one room, somebody sleeping in another, a kitchen producing its own competing smells at seven in the evening. And it is attended constantly, by people who are perfectly capable of pressing a button. Consistency, which is the whole product in a hotel, is worth surprisingly little in a house — what a home wants is granularity, the ability to answer each room differently, and that is precisely what a fleet of small machines gives you and a single scheduled system takes away. The exception is scale: if one part of your house is genuinely built like a lobby, then for that part the commercial answer is the right one.

Three homes where the answer is yes

1
HOME ONE · A GENUINELY LARGE VOLUME
Double-height rooms and villa great rooms
SOSA Vaayu waterless diffuserSOSA Vaayu₹11,999This is the case that transfers cleanly. A double-height living room, a villa or bungalow great room, a farmhouse common area, or connected open-plan common areas above roughly 2,000 sq ft: these are commercial volumes sitting inside domestic buildings. Ultrasonic mist rises out of the occupied zone in a tall room before it has done anything useful, and adding more Sukoons does not accumulate into a solution because the problem is height and continuity rather than floor area. A Vaayu at ₹11,999, rated to 1,000 m³ and running neat oil, is the correct instrument. The bedrooms in that same house still take Sukoons — a villa bedroom is a closed room like any other.
The scope: a commercial machine is for one volume, never for a house. Even in a villa it is half the plan.
2
HOME TWO · A DUCTED PROPERTY
Where the Aangan makes sense, and what it takes away
The Aangan at ₹25,999 is a ducted HVAC nebulising system rated for 8,000–10,000 sq ft, and it is a different kind of purchase from everything else here: it works through central air handling rather than standing in a room. For a large property that already has ducted air — a big villa, a farmhouse with central cooling — it is the only way to scent the whole building from one point, and it does that job properly. What you must understand before buying it is the cost on the other side: everywhere the ducts reach gets the same fragrance at the same time. Bedrooms lose their independence. If your household has one person who wants a scented bedroom and another who wants none, a ducted system is the wrong architecture regardless of how large the house is.
The prerequisite: central air handling, and a household content with one fragrance decision for the whole property.
3
HOME THREE · A HOME THAT IS ALSO A BUSINESS
Homestays, weekend lets, clinics and studios
This is the case I find people never think of and it is the most convincing of the three. If your home receives people who are not family — a villa let for weekends, a homestay, a boutique guest suite, a clinic or design studio in one wing — then you want exactly what a hotel wants: the same impression, at the same strength, on a schedule, without anyone having to remember. That is the commercial product, and buying it for that reason is entirely rational. A Vaayu holding the common areas on a programmed schedule does something no arrangement of Sukoons reliably does, because the Sukoons depend on somebody switching them on before the guests arrive.

Feature by feature: can a home use it?

Five things a commercial specification buys, and an honest column on whether a home has any use for each. The domestic equivalent in the last column is usually cheaper and often better.

The commercial specification
What it buys, and whether your house needs it
Commercial feature Why a hotel needs it Does a home? Domestic equivalent
Unattended continuous duty Nobody is assigned to the machine Rarely — someone is always home A 2H timer on a Sukoon
Central scheduling One decision covers a whole floor Only if the house hosts guests Switching on before people arrive
Consistency across a volume ★ The lobby must smell identical everywhere Yes, if you have one large connected space There is not one — this is the real case for a Vaayu
HVAC integration Ducted air is the distribution system Only in a large ducted property Aangan ₹25,999, and one scent everywhere
Fragrance at litre scale Predictable cost per day across sites No — a 300ml lasts a home months 300ml ₹1,799, roughly ₹6 per ml
Granular room-by-room control Not wanted — uniformity is the product Yes, badly — this is what homes actually need One Sukoon per air space, ₹1,899 each
Read the last row first. The thing a home most wants is the one thing commercial equipment is designed not to provide. That is not a defect in either — they are built for different buildings.

The commercial machines, and the domestic one most homes should buy
The SOSA principle
"Commercial" describes the duty cycle, not the strength — continuity, scheduling and scale, in a building where nobody is going to press a button.
A home is attended, discontinuous and full of people who want different things at different hours. Granularity is worth more to it than consistency.

Running commercial equipment domestically

If you are going to operate it by hand, you have bought the wrong machine. The value of commercial equipment is that it holds a standard without anyone thinking about it, and that value is realised through the schedule. So the first thing to do with a Vaayu in a house is to programme it properly: a burst before the space is used, nothing overnight, and a fixed pattern that does not depend on anybody remembering. If you find yourself opening the app every evening to decide what the living room should smell like tonight, that is a domestic instinct and it is telling you something — it is the instinct a fleet of Sukoons serves and a scheduled machine frustrates.

Understand what a ducted system does to the rest of the house. The Aangan distributes through central air handling, which is its great strength and its one inflexibility: the fragrance goes wherever the conditioned air goes. There is no version of it where the guest wing smells of one thing and the master bedroom of another, and no version where somebody who dislikes fragrance in their room can simply switch theirs off. Before committing ₹25,999 and an installation, walk the house and ask each person who sleeps in it whether they want their room included. It is a household decision rather than a purchase.

The hybrid is what almost every large home ends up with. A commercial machine holding the large connected common volume, and ordinary Sukoons on the water-based Hotel Collection in the bedrooms, where a closed door makes any other arrangement pointless. That means running two fragrance ranges, since neat oil and water-based fragrance never cross over, so treat the boundary deliberately: keep the big volume clean and structural, keep the bedrooms quieter, and let a shared woody or white-tea character run through both so moving between them reads as a change of scale rather than a change of subject.

Commercial machines are built for the hours when nobody is in the building. A home is full of people with opinions.

What each route actually installs

The domestic route, the single-volume route and the whole-property route, with what each one actually installs. The first row is what the large majority of homes should buy.

Domestic and commercial, priced
Four routes, and what each one is really for
Route What you install Covers Total
Domestic ★ One Sukoon per air space, ₹1,899 each, 3 scents in each box 270–320 sq ft per room ₹1,899 each
A whole 3BHK Three Sukoons + a 300ml bottle ₹1,799 Living zone and two bedrooms ₹7,496
One large volume Vaayu ₹11,999 — waterless, app, timer Up to 1,000 m³ connected ₹11,999
The villa hybrid Vaayu ₹11,999 + three Sukoons ₹5,697 Great room plus three bedrooms ₹17,696
Whole ducted property Aangan ₹25,999 — HVAC nebulising 8,000–10,000 sq ft through the ducts ₹25,999
Honest notes before you buy: the Vaayu and Aangan are waterless and run neat oil bought separately; neither can take the water-based Hotel Collection, and neat oil must never go into an ultrasonic such as the Boond, Sukoon or Megh, where it will not atomise and will film the misting plate. Hotel Collection prices are 15ml ₹299 / 100ml ₹999 / 300ml ₹1,799, at 3–6 drops per tank, and every Sukoon includes three 15ml bottles of your choice. Ultrasonic machines add a little humidity — welcome in a dry or air-conditioned room, less so in a coastal monsoon — while the waterless machines add none. The Aangan requires central air handling to distribute through and scents everywhere the ducts reach. The machines are imported from China; the fragrances are composed and made in India. Use filtered water in hard-water areas, rinse the tank between scents, and keep fragrance out of reach of children and pets. SOSA Aangan HVAC nebulising diffuser
Only for a ducted property
SOSA Aangan · HVAC ₹25,999
Ducted nebulising for 8,000–10,000 sq ft, distributing through central air handling rather than standing in a room. It is the only way to scent a whole large property from one point — and it scents everywhere the ducts reach, so room-by-room control goes with it. Runs neat oil; it cannot take the water-based Hotel Collection.

A note from Sonal

I sell commercial scenting systems and I install them in hotels and retail, so I know exactly what they are good at. They are good at not being thought about. That is the product. A lobby smells the same on a Tuesday morning in March as it did in November because a machine has been running the same programme through the same ducts and nobody has had to care.

Homes do not want that, and it took me a while to say so out loud in a shop that sells both. What a home wants is to be answered room by room — something quiet in a bedroom, something brighter where guests sit, nothing at all in the room where somebody is studying. A fleet of small machines does that. A single scheduled system flattens it, which in a hotel is the point and in a house is a loss.

So the three yeses are narrow and I would rather state them narrowly: a genuinely large connected volume, a ducted property where you accept one fragrance throughout, or a home that receives paying guests. If none of those describes your house, buy Sukoons for the rooms people are actually in and spend the difference on a 300ml bottle. A portion of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Is a commercial scent machine stronger than a home diffuser?
It disperses more fragrance into a larger volume, but "commercial" is not a strength grade — output is adjustable on all of these machines. The specification is about unattended duty, scheduling, consistency across a large connected space and integration with ducted air. In a small closed room, a Sukoon at ₹1,899 produces a better result than a commercial machine run badly.
What is the difference between the Vaayu and the Aangan?
The Vaayu at ₹11,999 is a standalone waterless nebuliser rated to 1,000 m³ that stands in a space and scents it. The Aangan at ₹25,999 is a ducted HVAC system for 8,000–10,000 sq ft that distributes through central air handling. The Vaayu suits one large room; the Aangan suits a whole property that already has ducted air.
Can I install an Aangan in a flat?
Only if the flat has central air handling for it to distribute through, which almost no Indian flat does — split air conditioners recirculate within a single room and cannot carry fragrance between rooms. It is also rated for 8,000–10,000 sq ft, several times the size of a large flat. For a flat, one Sukoon per room you use is the correct answer.
I run a homestay from part of my house. Does that change the answer?
Yes, genuinely. A home that receives paying guests wants what a hotel wants: the same impression at the same strength on a schedule, without anybody remembering to switch something on before an arrival. A Vaayu holding the common areas on a programme does that reliably; a set of Sukoons depends on somebody being there to press the button.
Can a commercial machine use the Hotel Collection fragrances?
No. The Vaayu and Aangan are waterless and atomise neat oil; the Hotel Collection is water-based and formulated for 3–6 drops in an ultrasonic tank. That is worth settling before you buy, because a house with both kinds of machine is running two fragrance ranges that will never match exactly.
