SOSA commercial scenting
A venue that already has jasmine, food and four hundred guests does not need more scent. It needs a plan for where scent goes
◆ ◆ ◆
What we specify
"Four hundred guests arriving through one entrance within twenty minutes."
Scent the enclosed lobby, not the arrival porch - and lift the level before arrival, not during
Mass arrival
What we answer
"Dining area where the caterer's food aroma is part of the experience."
Dining stays unscented. Fragrance competing with food is the most common venue mistake
Dining out
What we specify
"Mandap and decor built around fresh jasmine and marigold."
Floral decor is already the scent story; an added floral register clashes with it
Floral decor
What we answer
"Banquet entrance that is genuinely open to outdoor air."
Continuous scenting of open air is not practical, and we will say so rather than sell a machine
Open entrance
What we specify
"Same hall used for a wedding on Saturday and a corporate event on Monday."
One neutral lobby register for both; event-specific scenting belongs to the planner, not the building
Mixed use
What we specify
"Venue asking how many machines a large property needs."
Count enclosed volumes, not halls - most of a venue's square footage is not scentable space

Yes, and a planner holds an advantage the venue does not: they can ask the family what they want. That single difference changes what scenting can legitimately be at a wedding.
Quick answers — read this first
Can a wedding planner include scenting in a premium wedding? Yes, and more legitimately than a venue can, because a planner can ask the family what they want rather than imposing a house register. Guest-facing enclosed spaces, getting-ready rooms and gift or welcome areas are where it adds most.

Where does scenting not belong at a wedding? Dining areas, the mandap and ceremony space where the family's own flowers and traditions carry the scent, and anywhere open to outdoor air where nothing will hold. Those three exclusions cover most of a venue.

What should a planner watch for? Guest sensitivity across a large gathering, clashes with jasmine and floral decor, and the venue's own lobby register - which may need to be lowered or switched off so the two do not compete. A SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 in an enclosed room is the practical unit.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes - and unlike a venue, a planner can ask the family. Enclosed guest rooms and welcome areas add; dining, mandap and open air do not.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 for an enclosed lobby, the Aangan at ₹25,999 for a large one, and the Meenar at ₹38,500 for a full property - on Hotel Collection fragrance from ₹299.
Sizing? WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with your lobby and entrance dimensions, ceiling height, whether the entrance is open to outdoor air, and typical guest numbers - remote sizing from your own measurements, no site visit needed outside Pune.
How SOSA sizes a commercial space - the order that actually worksStep 1 - find the source: solvents, sanitiser, footwear, drains, AC filters, stale airStep 2 - draw the air volume, not the floor plan: doors and partitions divide itStep 3 - decide which zones stay unscented, and write that downStep 4 - set intensity low and schedule it around your peakStep 5 - re-check after two weeks, then leave it alone
Commercial scenting goes wrong in a predictable order: somebody buys a machine to cover a smell that has a source, puts it where the socket is, runs it at full intensity because day one felt weak, and ends up with a room people comment on for the wrong reason. Source first, air volume second, unscented zones written down third, low intensity and a schedule fourth. This guide walks that sequence, with the real SOSA machine range at each size.
Straight answer
Can a wedding planner include scenting as part of a premium wedding experience?
Yes, and a planner can do it more legitimately than a venue can. A venue's lobby scent is imposed on every family that books. A planner is working for one family and can ask them what they want, which turns scenting from something applied to a wedding into something chosen for it. That is a real difference and it is the whole argument. Where it adds: enclosed guest-facing rooms - a welcome or gifting area, a bridal getting-ready suite, a private family lounge - where the space is contained, occupied for a long stretch and genuinely the family's own. A getting-ready room in particular is worth thinking about, because it is where the day starts, it is occupied for hours and it is often a fairly ordinary hotel room. Where it does not add, and a planner should say so: dining areas, because the caterer's food aroma is part of what the family paid for; the mandap and ceremony space, where fresh flowers and traditional practice already carry the scent story and were chosen deliberately; and anywhere open to outdoor air, where nothing holds at any setting. Three practical cautions. A large gathering contains guests who prefer no added fragrance, so keep levels low and enclosed areas optional. Check the venue's own lobby register - it may need to be lowered or switched off so the two do not compete, and a good venue will do that on request. And choose non-floral, because the decor has already taken that category. A SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 per enclosed room, on fragrance from ₹299. Fragrance is an ambience decision and never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: a planner can ask the family, which makes it theirs - enclosed guest rooms yes, dining and mandap and open air no.
The practical unit for a planner is one machine per enclosed room: a SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 with fragrance from ₹299. For a getting-ready suite or a welcome room, a ₹749 reed diffuser is often enough and needs no setting at all.

The planner can do something the venue cannot

The planner's position is genuinely different from the venue's, and most of what follows comes from that one fact.

Why this works
Scenting a wedding, as a planner
1 Ask the family - this is the advantage a venue does not have 2 Enclosed guest rooms: welcome area, getting-ready suite, private family lounge 3 Never dining, never the mandap, never anywhere open to outdoor air 4 Ask the venue to lower or switch off its lobby register so the two do not compete
For a venue lobby the usual specification is a SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999, stepping up to the Aangan at ₹25,999 for a large enclosed entrance hall. Fragrance from ₹299 - and the dining areas stay out of the plan.
01
The planner's advantage
Chosen, not imposed
Everything that makes venue scenting a delicate decision comes from the fact that the family did not choose it. A planner removes that objection entirely by asking. It also produces better outcomes, because a family with a preference - a scent associated with a grandmother's home, a note they love, or a clear wish for nothing at all - will tell you. That conversation takes two minutes and it converts a generic amenity into something personal, which is the only version of wedding scenting worth selling as premium.
Tip: Ask the family. It takes two minutes and changes what this is.
02
The room worth doing
The getting-ready suite
It is occupied from early morning until the ceremony, it holds the bride and often a dozen relatives, it is the emotional centre of the day for the family, and it is usually a plain hotel room with makeup, hair products and room-service trays in it. A light, chosen scent in that room is the highest-value scenting decision at an Andhra wedding, and it costs less than almost anything else on a premium planner's list. Keep it light - the room is small and occupied for hours.
03
The three exclusions
Dining, mandap, and open air
Dining because the caterer's aroma is part of the purchase. The mandap and ceremony area because the flowers and traditional elements are the scent story and were chosen with meaning. Open or semi-open spaces because nothing holds there - a planner who promises scenting in an open porch or garden area is promising something the air will not deliver. Saying all three plainly is what makes the rest of the proposal credible.
Tip: Promising scent in an open garden is promising what air will not do.
The SOSA principle
A venue's scent is imposed on every family. A planner's is chosen by one.
That single difference is what makes wedding scenting legitimate rather than generic.

Where it adds, and where it does not

Non-floral, light, and matched to what the family actually said - which is the whole of the brief once the exclusions are respected.

The SOSA scent edit
For a wedding planner
Scent Why it suits the mood
Ask first The family's preference, including a clear preference for nothing
Best room The getting-ready suite - hours of occupancy, and the emotional centre of the day
Also good An enclosed welcome or gifting area, and a private family lounge
Never Dining, the mandap and ceremony space, and anywhere open to outdoor air

The venue's side of this is in the venue signature chapter, the floral decor clash is in the jasmine chapter, and why dining stays neutral is in the dining chapter.

The SOSA commercial range

Whatever the space, the method is the same: find the source of any smell and fix it, draw the air volume rather than the floor plan, write down which zones stay unscented, then set a low intensity and a schedule. Every SOSA fragrance is alcohol-free and made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the range by the size of space it is honestly built for.

The SOSA commercial range
Sized by air volume, not by ambition - from a ₹749 reed diffuser to the ₹38,500 Meenar
Option Right for What it actually is Price
Reed diffusers One small room, no power point, no maintenance Alcohol-free reed oil, passive, silent. Good for a single cabin or a small front desk, not for a hall from ₹749
Boond / Sukoon ultrasonic A desk, a single cabin, a small reception Water-based cool mist; runs on Hotel Collection fragrance, adds a little humidity to the room ₹899 / ₹1,899
Megh ultrasonic (6L) A larger waiting area where visible mist is wanted 6L tank, water-based. Still a room machine rather than a floor machine ₹3,499
SOSA Vaayu Reception, lounge, corridor, a contained showroom floor Waterless cold-air, up to 1000m³ (about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank, app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, under 38 dB, key-lock for public areas ₹11,999
SOSA Aangan Large premises, or scenting carried on the building's own HVAC HVAC-mount nebulising machine, 800ml, roughly 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft, under 42 dB ₹25,999
SOSA Meenar Hotels, large showrooms, venues, corporate floors The largest machine in the range, specified for roughly 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft ₹38,500
Hotel Collection fragrance The fragrance the machines actually run on Seven scents, 15ml / 100ml / 300ml. SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand from ₹299
Honest notes for venues and hospitality: fragrance is an ambience decision only and is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control. Dining and food-service areas are specified as unscented, because ambient fragrance competing with food aroma degrades both. Entrances and areas genuinely open to outdoor air cannot be held at a consistent scent level and are not specified for continuous scenting. Floral decor such as jasmine and marigold is already a dominant scent element, and an added floral register competes with it. Guest fragrance sensitivity varies across large gatherings, so levels are set low and at least one unscented waiting area is kept. Ultrasonic diffusers and the machines run on the Hotel Collection fragrance; reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil, and the two are not interchangeable. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand. SOSA's fragrances are made in India; the scent machines are imported. Listed prices are store prices and are subject to change. SOSA's paid on-site walkthrough is ₹1,500 and is Pune only - everywhere else, including Vijayawada, Guntur and the Amaravati region, sizing is done remotely over WhatsApp from your own measurements. SOSA Sukoon ultrasonic cool mist diffuser

A note from Sonal

Indian wedding venues are the one commercial space where my advice is mostly about restraint and subtraction. By the time guests arrive there is jasmine in the decor, marigold on the mandap, food coming from the kitchen and four hundred people wearing their own perfume. Adding a fifth layer does not create an impression; it creates confusion.

So the plan is about placement. The enclosed lobby is the one place a venue scent genuinely works, because it is the first contained breath a guest takes and the only part of the evening the building controls. Dining stays out, always - a fragrance competing with the caterer's food is the most common and most expensive mistake I see. And an entrance genuinely open to outdoor air cannot be scented continuously; I would rather say that than sell a machine that disappoints.

Frequently asked questions

Can a wedding planner include scenting in a premium wedding?
Yes, and more legitimately than a venue can, because a planner can ask the family what they want rather than applying a house register to every booking.
Which room is worth doing?
The getting-ready suite. It is occupied for hours, it holds the bride and family, and it is usually a plain hotel room - a light chosen scent there is the highest-value decision available.
Where does scenting not belong?
Dining areas, the mandap and ceremony space where the family's own flowers carry the scent story, and anywhere open to outdoor air where nothing holds.
What about the venue's own lobby scent?
Ask the venue to lower it or switch it off so the two do not compete. A well-run venue will do that on request and should offer it.
What should be specified?
A SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 per enclosed room, or a reed diffuser from Rs 749 for a getting-ready suite, with non-floral fragrance from Rs 299. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
