Should I buy a bigger machine for a double-height room? No. A bigger machine fills the void faster. The better answers are a source at seated height, soft furnishings in the lower half, and an earlier cycle.
What about a mezzanine or gallery? If people sit on it, it is a second occupied zone and may want its own small source. If it is a walkway, it does not.
You are being asked to fill a room and a void
A double-height living room is the hardest ordinary room in a house to fragrance, and understanding why makes the answer straightforward rather than expensive. Think of it as two spaces stacked on top of each other. The lower half, up to about the height of a normal ceiling, is where every person in the room actually is - sitting, standing, walking through. The upper half is a void. Nobody will ever be in it. It exists for light and for the sense of space, and both of those are good reasons to have it, but from the point of view of fragrance it is a large quantity of air that no one will ever breathe. Now add the physical fact that governs the room. Fragranced air released from a machine is warm relative to the room, and warm air rises. In a normal-ceilinged space this hardly matters because the whole volume mixes quickly. In a double-height space it matters enormously: a large share of everything released migrates upward into the void within minutes. You are paying for that material, it is doing nothing for anybody, and it does not come back down in any useful way. The predictable consequence is that a double-height room reads as under-fragranced while the machine is working exactly as intended, and the owner responds by increasing the dose. That fills the void faster. Increasing again fills it faster still. Consumption rises several times over, the seated level improves marginally, and nobody in the household detects any of it because everybody living there has adapted within about an hour anyway. Only visitors perceive the true state, in the first few seconds, and they say nothing. So the design question is not how to fill the room. It is how to serve the occupied half, and there are three moves that do that. The first is placement at seated height. In a double-height room this matters more than in any other space in the house. A source on the floor produces a pool in still air and then loses the material upward past everybody. A source at console or table height - in the part of the room people walk into, out of the direct throw of an air conditioner - releases into the zone people are in, and gives it a chance to distribute at human level before it rises. Very often what an owner had diagnosed as insufficient capacity is resolved by moving the unit onto a table. The second move is material, and it is the most powerful thing available. Soft furnishings are the only reservoir a double-height room has, and they are located exactly where people are: rugs on the floor, curtains at the lower windows, upholstered seating, cushions. Those materials absorb fragrance and release it slowly over hours at human level, which is what a steady background actually is - not air holding a level, but textiles giving it back. A double-height room with a stone floor, full-height glazing and minimal furnishing has no reservoir at all, which is why it behaves the way people describe: noticeable for twenty minutes and gone by the time guests arrive. The fix for that room is a rug and a pair of curtains, not a larger machine, and it improves the acoustics and the evening light at the same time, which double-height rooms usually need as well. The third move is timing. A taller volume takes longer to reach a perceptible level, so start the cycle earlier rather than running it stronger, and anchor it to arrivals - the value of the layer sits in the moment somebody walks in from outside with an unadapted nose, and a cycle that finishes shortly before people come home delivers essentially all of it. On product: where the ground plane is genuinely open and connected, the Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is the right machine, waterless with nothing to fill or empty and with app and timer control. Where the plan is only partly open, a Megh at Rs 3,499 with its 6L tank. One caveat about mezzanines and galleries, which double-height rooms often have. If people actually sit up there, it is a second occupied zone and may want its own small source, a Sukoon at Rs 1,799. If it is a walkway, it does not - a single reed is plenty. Finally, accept that a double-height room will always read a little lighter at the same dose than a normal-ceilinged room. That is correct rather than a shortfall, and chasing it is what turns a beautiful room into an expensive one.
Serve the occupied half
Serve the occupied half. Placement, which matters more here than in any other room: at console or table height in the part of the room people walk into, never on the floor where still air makes a pool before the material rises past everybody, and out of the direct throw of an air conditioner. Material, which is the most powerful intervention available and the only reservoir a double-height room has: rugs, curtains, upholstered seating and cushions in the lower half, which absorb fragrance and give it back slowly at human level, and which fix the acoustics and soften the evening light at the same time. Timing: start the cycle earlier rather than running it stronger, anchored to arrivals, since a taller volume takes longer to reach a perceptible level and the value of the layer sits in the moment somebody walks in from outside. The machine, where the ground plane is genuinely open and connected: the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 - waterless with no tank, coverage up to 1,000 m², Bluetooth app and timer control - or the SOSA Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank where the plan is only partly open. A mezzanine or gallery: the SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799 only if people actually sit up there; a single reed if it is a walkway. Rooms behind closed doors, unaffected by ceiling height: reed diffusers - Morning Freshness at Rs 749, Garden Bloom at Rs 799, Evening Calm at Rs 799, Fresh Brew at Rs 849, Mountain Breeze at Rs 849 - three to four months per bottle, refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml. Fragrance for machines: Hotel Collection at Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, at three to six drops per tank, rinsing between scents; it is not reed diffuser oil and the two are not interchangeable. Accept that the room will read a little lighter at the same dose than a normal-ceilinged one; that is correct rather than a shortfall. Never scented: children's rooms, the kitchen at any time, the dining area during a meal, and covered terraces and balconies. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
