Why not ask for square footage? Because it captures none of the variables that decide the answer, and guessing from it errs towards a larger machine, which is invisible to the household because everybody adapts.
What will the answer usually be? For most homes, reed diffusers for every room behind a door plus either another reed or a small machine for the living space. Large machines suit genuinely open plans only.
The five things we ask, and why each one
This page sets out exactly what we ask before recommending anything, and why each question earns its place, so that you can either answer them on WhatsApp or work through them yourself. Question one: how many rooms are shut at an ordinary hour? Walk the home at a normal time of a normal day, in the season you actually live in, changing nothing, and count the internal doors that are closed. Bedrooms are usually shut for privacy and for air conditioning. Bathrooms are shut permanently. A study is shut for calls. Each of those is a separate volume that no machine reaches at any price or setting, and each needs its own passive source. So this number is your bottle count, and it is the single most useful thing you can tell us - more useful than square footage, more useful than BHK, more useful than anything on a floor plan. In most homes it comes to somewhere between three and fourteen. Question two: is the living space genuinely open, partly open, or a hall with rooms off a passage? This decides the machine, and it is the question people most often answer from the plan rather than from life. Genuinely open means living, dining, the passage and the foot of the stairs all connected with no door between them, at an ordinary hour - that is one large connected volume, and it is the condition that qualifies the Vaayu at Rs 11,999, where one waterless device with app and timer control replaces six or eight separate sources. Partly open, with one door or a partial division, usually suits a Megh at Rs 3,499 with its 6L tank. A modest hall suits a Sukoon at Rs 1,799, or honestly just another reed. And compartmented - rooms off a passage with doors normally shut - means no machine at all, because a unit in the passage scents a corridor nobody sits in while every room around it stays sealed. That is the answer we give most often, and it is a smaller sale we would rather make than have somebody disappointed. Question three: roughly what is the ceiling height, and is any part of the home double-height? Coverage is about air rather than floor, so volume is floor area multiplied by height. A twelve foot ceiling holds around a third more air than a nine foot one over the same area. And tall rooms stratify: warm fragranced air rises, so a disproportionate share ends up above head height in the part of the room nobody occupies, which means the answer is a higher source and more soft furnishing rather than a higher dose. Question four: does the house run with windows open, or with air conditioning on? A home with open windows and ceiling fans replaces its interior air many times an hour, so nothing accumulates and the right response is timing - build the level with the house closed in the half hour before people come home, then open up - rather than a bigger machine, which simply sends more of it outside. A cooled home is the opposite: it holds what it is given, and it is also more compartmented in practice than its plan suggests, because cooled rooms are kept shut. Both facts change the recommendation. Question five: who will actually maintain it? We ask this plainly and we would rather have an honest answer than an optimistic one. A tank machine is refilled every few days and rinsed when the scent changes - a few minutes a week, done indefinitely - and small recurring household tasks decay predictably: reliable while the object is new, intermittent after a month, abandoned in the first difficult week. If the honest answer is that nobody will keep it up, we will say so and recommend waterless equipment or bottles, which need nothing for three to four months. That is the whole method. It takes one message to answer, and it produces a specific recommendation rather than a guess. And it is worth knowing what the answer usually looks like: for most homes it is reed diffusers for every room behind a door, one just inside the entrance, and either another reed or a small machine for the living space. Large machines suit genuinely open plans, which are a minority of Indian homes.
Our actual method
Our actual method. Question one, doors shut at an ordinary hour, which gives the bottle count: a reed diffuser per sealed room - Morning Freshness at Rs 749, Garden Bloom at Rs 799, Evening Calm at Rs 799, Fresh Brew at Rs 849, Mountain Breeze at Rs 849 - three to four months per bottle, refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml, with bedrooms at the lightest level in the home from a source the occupant can move or cap, plus one just inside the entrance, the highest-value position in any house. Question two, the living space, which gives the machine: genuinely open qualifies the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 - waterless with no tank, coverage up to 1,000 m², Bluetooth app and timer control; partly open suits the SOSA Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank; a modest hall suits the SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799 or simply another reed; and compartmented qualifies no machine at all, which is the answer we give most often. Question three, ceiling height and any double-height space: volume is floor area times height, and tall rooms want a higher source and more soft furnishing rather than a higher dose. Question four, windows open or air conditioning on: a ventilated home wants timing - building the level with the house closed before people come home - rather than capacity, while a cooled home holds what it is given and is more compartmented in practice than its plan suggests. Question five, who will actually maintain it: if nobody will reliably refill and rinse a tank every few days, we will recommend waterless equipment or bottles instead, which need nothing for three to four months. Fragrance for machines: Hotel Collection at Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, at three to six drops per tank, rinsing between scents; it is a water-based fragrance for ultrasonic diffusers, is not reed diffuser oil, and the two are not interchangeable. Never scented, whatever the answers: children's rooms, the kitchen at any time, the dining area during a meal, and covered terraces and balconies. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards.

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
