When a perfumer talks about a good fragrance, almost nothing in the description is about loudness. It is about the materials, whether the composition has a coherent shape, whether the opening leads somewhere, whether it holds together over hours instead of collapsing into its heaviest element, and whether you can live beside it for weeks without tiring of it. Those are all real properties and you can verify them yourself at close range, which is why the reeds of a good diffuser are so satisfying to smell. What quality never promises is a quantity of molecules in the air at the far side of your bedroom, because that quantity is set by the release rate and the room, and a composition has no influence over either. This is a genuinely useful thing to know when shopping, because it explains why price and craft do not translate into reach, in any brand's range, and why a page promising that they do is not being straight with you.

Honest notes before you spend anything. A reed diffuser is passive, and its scent is strongest at the bottle. There is a difference between a fragrance being good and a fragrance reaching you, and almost nobody is told what it is. When someone writes to me and says the reed diffuser smells wonderful up close but they cannot smell it from the bed, my first answer is always the same: nothing is wrong, and you did not buy the wrong thing. A reed diffuser is a passive object. It holds oil, the reeds draw it up, the room's warmth and air take it away at their own pace. It has no way of carrying scent to you, and it was never built to.
So the real question is not which fragrance is stronger. It is which job you want done. If you want a quiet, pleasant presence in the corner of a bathroom or beside a bed, a reed is still the most elegant thing I sell, and I would rather you kept it than replaced it. No, and we would rather say that clearly than let price stand in for performance. Price in fragrance reflects the cost of the materials, the complexity of the composition and how much aromatic material is in the formula, and all three of those improve what each breath contains rather than how many breaths reach you. A costly oil in a passive diffuser produces an excellent gradient with the same shape as a cheaper one: high at the bottle, thin across the room. If you want the room to change, you are buying a machine, and the good news is that the machine then makes every fragrance you put in it work properly, which is a much better use of money than climbing a price ladder in search of reach that concentration cannot deliver.
Do heavier fragrances hang around a room longer than fresh ones?
Heavier materials are generally less volatile, so they evaporate more slowly and tend to linger on surfaces and fabrics, while brighter, fresher materials lift away faster. That is a real difference in character and it is why a warm woody register can feel more settled in a room while a citrus one feels more immediate. Does an ultrasonic damage the quality of a good fragrance?
It changes it slightly, and being straight about that is part of recommending it honestly. An ultrasonic carries fragrance in water, so what reaches you is a diluted dispersion rather than the composition neat, and some people notice a softer, slightly rounder version of the scent along with the added humidity in the room. In hard-water areas there is also the white dust question.
