Six checks, and the first one eliminates most of the market before you look at anything else. If a machine states its coverage in square feet rather than cubic metres, it is describing a floor plan rather than a body of air, and a floor plan cannot tell you what a room contains. That single distinction is why two houses of the same stated size need completely different systems, and why so many people buy a machine that turns out to be too small for a living room they thought was modest. Here is the full checklist, in the order that actually decides whether you end up happy.
Quick answers — read this first
What should I look for when buying a home scent machine? Six things, in this order. One, coverage stated in cubic metres rather than square feet, because a machine fills a volume of air and a floor plan does not tell you the ceiling height. Two, whether that coverage figure is honest about connected air, since no machine pushes scent through a closed door. Three, which fragrance format it takes - waterless nebulising oil or water-based fluid for an ultrasonic - because the two are not interchangeable and buying the wrong bottle is the commonest expensive mistake. Four, scheduling and app control, because a run that finishes before you need the room is what makes air read as settled rather than as a product working. Five, noise, judged by which room it will sit in and at which hour. And six, whether fragrance is included in the price, which is unusual: the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 ships with four hotel-inspired blends in the box, and most machines in this category do not.
Why is coverage in cubic metres better than coverage in square feet? Because a machine disperses into a volume of air, and square feet describe a floor rather than a volume. Two homes with an identical 2,000 square foot floor plan can differ by fifty per cent in the air they actually contain, purely on ceiling height, and the arithmetic is simple: floor area times ceiling height gives cubic feet, and cubic feet divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres. At a standard ten foot ceiling, 1,500 square feet is about 425 cubic metres, 2,000 is about 566, 2,500 is about 708 and 3,000 is about 850. A double-height room breaks a square-foot rating entirely: 600 square feet at a twenty foot ceiling is 12,000 cubic feet, about 340 cubic metres, so a room that looks modest on a plan eats a third of a 1000 cubic metre rating. A machine rated in square feet is asking you to assume a ceiling height that nobody has told you.
What questions should I ask before buying a scent machine? Five, and any honest seller will answer all of them. What is the coverage in cubic metres, and does that figure assume one connected volume of air? Which fragrance format does it take, waterless nebulising oil or water-based ultrasonic fluid, and are the two interchangeable - the correct answer is no. Is any fragrance included in the purchase price, or is it a separate invoice? What is the ongoing fragrance supply and what does it cost - and if a seller cannot answer that with published prices, ask them to tell you so plainly rather than estimating. And where does the unit need to sit: does it need a socket, does it need Bluetooth range to your phone, and can it be concealed without being shut inside a closed cupboard, which stops it working. Ask those before you pay rather than after.
The short answer
Short answer: Six checks, in the order that decides whether you end up happy. One: coverage stated in cubic metres, not square feet. A machine disperses into a body of air and a floor plan does not tell you the ceiling height, so two identical 2,000 square foot homes can hold very different volumes. Floor area times ceiling height gives cubic feet and cubic feet divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres: at a ten foot ceiling, 1,500 square feet is about 425 cubic metres, 2,000 about 566, 2,500 about 708, 3,000 about 850 and 4,000 about 1,133. A double-height room breaks the shortcut entirely, since 600 square feet at a twenty foot ceiling is 12,000 cubic feet, about 340 cubic metres. Two: whether the coverage figure is honest about connected air. A rating assumes one continuous body of air, and no machine at any price, setting or placement pushes scent through a closed bedroom door, because the mechanism is air movement. So measure only the part of the house that is genuinely open to itself - entrance, living, dining, passage, stair void - and count the closed rooms, because that number is your reed count. Three: which fragrance format it takes. Waterless cold-air nebulising machines run oil with no water, no tank, no damp and no residue; ultrasonic cool mist machines run a water-based fluid. The two are not interchangeable in either direction, and buying the wrong bottle is the commonest expensive mistake in this category. The SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is waterless; the SOSA Hotel Collection at Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for a 100ml refill and Rs 1,799 for a Pack of 7 at 15ml is water-based and belongs in the Boond at Rs 899, the Sukoon at Rs 1,899 and the Megh at Rs 3,499 only. Four: scheduling and app control. This is the actual product rather than a convenience feature, because a run that finishes before you need the room leaves settled air, which reads as the character of a building, while a machine started while guests stand in the room reads as a product working. A schedule also holds the level identical on an ordinary Tuesday and on an evening you have people over, and it stops the slow upward creep that happens in every home adjusted by feel, since you go nose-blind to your own house within about twenty minutes. Five: noise, judged by room and by hour. A nebulising machine has a pump and is not silent the way a bottle of oil is silent; in a living room during ordinary household life owners stop noticing it within a week, and in the quietest room at the quietest hour it is a real consideration, which is one more reason bedrooms belong to reeds from Rs 749 that have no motor and no light. Six: whether fragrance is included in the price. The Vaayu ships with four hotel-inspired waterless blends in the box, chosen as Bundle A, B or C, and fragrance in this category is nearly always sold separately, so compare complete rooms rather than machine prices. Then the placement requirements: a socket, a Bluetooth path to your phone, and a position that is out of sight without being shut in, because a closed cupboard, a drawer or a spot behind a heavy curtain scents the cabinet rather than the room. Place it low, inside the connected volume, out of the direct blast of an air-conditioning vent and away from the seating. And ask what the ongoing fragrance supply costs: no standalone waterless refill is published for the Vaayu, so no refill price, consumption rate, running cost or blend duration may be stated by us, and supply is arranged on WhatsApp. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is not affiliated with any hotel brand. The pick: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, four hotel-inspired blends included in the box) for the connected living volume of a villa; reeds from ₹749 for a single bedroom or bathroom; a single room done properly from ₹899; the Aangan (₹25,999) ducted into central air-conditioning for genuine whole-home coverage.

A villa is not one room, it is a set of connected volumes and a set of closed doors, and the two need different answers. Whole-home scenting means one fragrance held evenly across the part of the house you actually live in - the entrance, the living room, the dining - running on a schedule so it is already there when someone walks through your front door, and already there when you come home yourself. The bedrooms, the guest bathroom and the study get their own quiet solutions. Nobody in the house has to remember anything.
What should I actually check before buying a scent machine for a large home?
Six checks, in order, and the first eliminates most of the market.1. Coverage in cubic metres, not square feet. A machine fills a volume of air; a floor plan does not tell you the ceiling height. Floor area times height gives cubic feet, divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres. At ten feet: 1,500 sq ft is about 425m³, 2,000 about 566m³, 2,500 about 708m³, 3,000 about 850m³. A 600 sq ft room at twenty feet is about 340m³ - height eats coverage a plan never shows. 2. Is that figure honest about connected air? Ratings assume one continuous body of air. No machine passes a closed door, so measure only the open part and count the shut rooms, because that number is your reed count. 3. Which fragrance format. Waterless nebulising oil, or water-based fluid for an ultrasonic. They are not interchangeable. The Vaayu at ₹11,999 is waterless; the water-based Hotel Collection at ₹299 belongs in a Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899 or Megh ₹3,499 only, and never in a Vaayu. 4. Scheduling and app control, which is the actual product. A run that finishes before you need the room leaves settled air; a machine started while guests stand in it reads as a product working. 5. Noise, by room and by hour. A pump is not silent. Fine in a living room during ordinary life, a real consideration in a bedroom at night - which is why bedrooms keep reeds from ₹749, with no motor and no light. 6. Is fragrance included? The Vaayu ships with four hotel-inspired blends in the box. Most machines do not, so compare complete rooms rather than machine prices. 7. Then placement and the last question. It needs a socket, Bluetooth range and a spot that is out of sight but not shut in. And ask what ongoing supply costs: no standalone waterless refill is published for the Vaayu, so we quote no refill price, consumption rate or duration - arrange it on WhatsApp +91 96192 18531. Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

The checklist, in the order that matters
The coverage question and the arithmetic that settles it, the format and scheduling questions that decide what the machine costs to live with, and the practical checks - noise, placement and what is actually in the box - that decide whether you keep using it.
Why this works at home
Six checks, in the order that decides whether you stay happy
The whole-home answer: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, app-scheduled, ~1000m³, and it arrives with four hotel-inspired blends in the box. A single bedroom or guest bathroom starts on reeds from ₹749.
Cubic metres, not square feet, and connected air rather than floor area
Start here, because it eliminates most of the market and it is the check almost nobody applies. A scenting machine disperses into a body of air. Square feet describe a floor. Between the two sits the ceiling height, which nobody tells you when they quote a square-foot rating, and which varies enormously between Indian homes: a builder flat at nine feet, a villa at ten or eleven, a designed house with a double-height drawing room at eighteen or twenty. Two houses with an identical 2,000 square foot plan can therefore contain very different quantities of air, and the machine only cares about the air. So do the arithmetic yourself, because it takes two minutes. Floor area times ceiling height gives cubic feet. Cubic feet divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres. At a standard ten foot ceiling: 1,500 square feet is 15,000 cubic feet, about 425m³. 2,000 square feet is 20,000 cubic feet, about 566m³. 2,500 is about 708m³. 3,000 is about 850m³. 4,000 is about 1,133m³. The SOSA Vaayu is rated at approximately 1000m³, which at that ceiling height corresponds to roughly 3,500 square feet. And now the case that breaks the shortcut completely. A 600 square foot living room at a twenty foot ceiling is 12,000 cubic feet, about 340m³. On a floor plan that room looks small. In air it is a third of a 1000m³ rating, which is why double-height rooms are where square-foot ratings mislead people most, and why a machine bought on floor area for a house with a dramatic drawing room so often underperforms. Warm air rises, so in a double-height room the practical answer is to place the unit low and let convection carry the register upward rather than trying to reach the top of the volume directly. The second half of this check is the one that separates an honest coverage figure from a marketing one. A rating assumes one connected volume of air. No machine, at any price, setting or placement, pushes scent through a closed bedroom door, because the mechanism is air movement and there is none between a passage and a sealed room. A 3,000 square foot villa split into twelve rooms across two floors is therefore not one 850m³ space; it is a connected living volume plus a set of separate sealed boxes. If a seller quotes you a coverage figure and does not mention that distinction, the figure is describing a warehouse rather than a house. What to do with this practically. Walk the house on an ordinary weekday afternoon, not a Saturday. Add up only the floor area that is genuinely open to itself: entrance, living, dining, passage, stair void. Measure the ceiling. Do the sum. Then count the rooms that stay shut, because that second number is your reed count and it is a separate purchase - a reed from ₹749 per closed door, or, if you want the identical register behind it, a Boond at ₹899 or Sukoon at ₹1,899 with a 15ml water-based Hotel Collection bottle at ₹299, which is ₹1,198 or ₹2,198 for that room. One Vaayu plus three bedroom reeds is ₹14,246. A stairwell, incidentally, is on the connected side of this line rather than the sealed side: it behaves like a chimney, so a unit placed low near the stair base carries the register up to the landing on its own, which is usually a better answer than a second machine.
Tip: a coverage figure in square feet is asking you to assume a ceiling height nobody has told you - and to forget that closed doors exist.
2
Checks two and three
The fragrance format, and whether there is a real schedule
Check two: which fragrance format the machine takes, because this is where the expensive mistake lives. There are two mechanisms in this category and they are not interchangeable in either direction. A waterless cold-air nebulising machine atomises fragrance oil directly into an extremely fine dispersion, with no water and no heat. It has no tank, so there is nothing to fill, nothing to empty when you travel, no mist, no damp settling on a console and no ring on a timber surface. Because the particles are very fine they travel with the room's normal air movement rather than falling out near the source, which is the whole reason such a machine can be rated for a volume. An ultrasonic cool mist machine works differently: it vibrates a mixture of water and a water-based fragrance fluid into a visible mist. That is an excellent mechanism for one enclosed room and a genuinely different product. In the SOSA range, the Vaayu at ₹11,999 is waterless and arrives with four hotel-inspired waterless blends in the box. The SOSA Hotel Collection at ₹299 for 15ml, ₹999 for a 100ml refill and ₹1,799 for a Pack of 7 at 15ml is water-based and belongs in the ultrasonic machines only: Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899, Megh ₹3,499. The ₹299 water-based bottle never goes into a Vaayu, which holds no water and is not built for it. The two formats do share the same seven register names, which is genuinely useful for layering: if your machine is running the Westin-inspired white tea, aloe and cedar in the living volume, a Sukoon in a bedroom with the water-based Westin-inspired bottle carries the same register behind the closed door for ₹2,198. So the question to ask any seller is simply: which format, and can I use the other one - and if the answer to the second part is anything other than a flat no, be careful. Check three: is there a real schedule, or just an on switch. Owners buy the machine and end up valuing the timer, and the reason is a distinction most people have felt without naming. Air that has settled has distributed itself evenly across the connected volume, so there is no gradient to detect and no source to locate, and a guest reads it as the house simply being like that. Air that is actively being scented while people stand in it has a source, a gradient and an arrival, and a nose reads that as a product doing something even when the person cannot say what they noticed. A schedule buys the first version every time. The useful shape of one follows directly: run it so it finishes before you need the room, not so it starts when you walk into it. Before the family gets home. Before people arrive, with a comfortable margin rather than a nervous one. In the morning if the entrance matters at the start of the day. Off overnight, because there is no reason to scent an empty ground floor at three in the morning. The Vaayu's Bluetooth app and timer are the mechanism, and setting it is a one-time job. The schedule also protects the level, which is the quietly important part. You go nose-blind to your own house within about twenty minutes, which is why homes adjusted by feel creep upward for years without anybody noticing, and why the strongest evening is always the one where somebody was nervous about visitors - precisely when restraint matters most. A fixed schedule at a fixed setting has nothing to nudge. Aim below the point at which a guest can name it: lovely house is a pass, what is that fragrance is a fail, and two independent comments about strength are an instruction rather than an opinion.

Checks four to six
Noise, placement, what is in the box, and the questions to ask before you pay
Check four: noise, judged by which room and which hour rather than by a number. A nebulising machine has a pump, so it is not silent in the way a bottle of oil on a shelf is silent. In a living room during ordinary household life - conversation, a television, the kitchen, people moving about - owners tell us they stop noticing it within a week, and since it runs on a schedule rather than continuously it is not making sound all day either. In the quietest room of the house at the quietest hour, it is a real consideration, and that is one more reason the bedrooms belong to reeds from ₹749: no motor, no light, nothing that clicks on when a timer fires, nothing to fail at two in the morning. Two practical mitigations: place the unit away from where people sit, and schedule it to run before you need the room rather than while you are in it, which is better for the fragrance anyway. Check five: what the machine needs from your house, because this is the check that decides whether it actually gets used. Three requirements must survive whatever hiding place you choose. A socket, which in an Indian home is very often not where the console is, and running a visible cable to it is exactly the compromise a well-finished room refuses. A Bluetooth path to your phone, which timber rarely blocks and metal sometimes does. And access you can reach without dismantling furniture. Then the one governing rule of placement: out of sight is fine, shut in is not. A cold-air unit disperses into the air immediately around it and relies on the room's circulation to carry it, so a console or sideboard with an open back, the space under a console table, a low open shelf, a wall niche or a ventilated media unit all work perfectly. A closed cupboard, a drawer, a sealed cabinet or a position behind a heavy curtain does not, at any price, because it scents the cabinet rather than the room. The crude test that is right almost every time: imagine a cup of tea steaming where the machine will sit and ask whether the steam would reach the room. Then four rules that decide evenness: inside the connected volume rather than in a side room where the socket happened to be free; low rather than high, since warm air rises and carries the register upward on its own; out of the direct blast of an air-conditioning vent, which throws the output one way so the room never settles; and away from the seating, so the nearest chair does not get several times what the far one gets. Check six: is fragrance included in the price, and what does ongoing supply cost. The first half is easy to check and rarely checked. The Vaayu at ₹11,999 ships with four hotel-inspired waterless blends in the box, chosen as Bundle A, B or C at purchase - Bundle A is Ritz-Carlton-inspired, Westin-inspired, St. Regis-inspired and 1 Hotels-inspired; Bundle B is Westin-inspired, Shangri-La-inspired, Four Seasons-inspired and Ritz-Carlton-inspired; Bundle C is St. Regis-inspired, W Hotels-inspired, 1 Hotels-inspired and Four Seasons-inspired. Most machines in this category arrive with an empty chamber and a second invoice, so compare complete rooms rather than machine prices. The second half is where you should expect an honest answer rather than a confident one. Ask what ongoing fragrance supply costs, and treat a precise-sounding monthly figure with suspicion, because consumption depends on the volume of air being scented, how many hours a day the schedule runs and the intensity setting, and those vary so much between houses that a single number is wrong for almost everybody who reads it. Our own position, stated plainly: no standalone waterless refill bottle is published for the Vaayu, so we may not state a refill price, a consumption rate, a monthly running cost or a blend duration - not estimated, not typically and not roughly - and ongoing supply is arranged with us directly on WhatsApp +91 96192 18531. For the ultrasonic route the fragrance is genuinely priced, at ₹299 for 15ml, ₹999 for 100ml and ₹1,799 for a Pack of 7 at 15ml, so you can work out your own cost per millilitre once you know your own consumption. And the check that comes before all six. If the house smells stale, musty or of cooking, no machine on any shortlist fixes it: clear the source, cross-ventilate with two windows on opposite sides, and remember that air-conditioning recirculates rather than replaces air. Fragrance is the finishing layer over clean air, never a substitute for it, and we make no health, therapeutic, air-purification or wellness claims. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations from an independent Indian house with no affiliation to, endorsement by or connection with any hotel brand.
Tip: out of sight is fine, shut in is not - if a cup of tea steaming in that spot would not reach the room, neither will the machine.
The SOSA principle
Cubic metres, connected air, the right format, a real schedule, honest noise and fragrance in the box. Six checks, and a machine that fails the first one has already told you what kind of seller you are dealing with.
Then the practical three: a socket, Bluetooth range, and a hiding place that is out of sight without being shut in - because a closed cupboard scents the cupboard.

Whatever the house looks like, the logic is the same: one scent, sized to the volume that is genuinely connected, running on a schedule so nobody in the family has to remember it. A single bedroom or a guest bathroom is happy on reeds with no power at all; the living room you actually live in wants a machine; the whole villa with central air-conditioning wants the ducts doing the work. Every SOSA system is made in India, cruelty-free and vegan, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is where each one belongs.

Honest notes before you buy anything. Coverage ratings assume connected air volume. A machine cannot push scent through a closed bedroom door, and it never will - so a partitioned villa is not one scenting problem but several, and honest sizing means saying so out loud rather than selling you one machine and hoping. Scent the volume that is genuinely open to itself, then give the closed rooms their own quiet answer, usually a reed diffuser. Fragrance never substitutes for ventilation or cleaning. If a room smells damp, stale or of last night's cooking, open it, air it and clean it first; scent added on top of that only makes a more complicated bad smell. A home is not a lobby you pass through. Households include children, elderly parents, pregnant family members and pets, all of whom breathe this air far longer than any visitor does, which is why gentle dosing is the default at home and why the settings we suggest are lower than the machine can run. Anyone in the house reporting a headache is a recalibration signal, not a complaint to argue with - turn it down or turn it off, and tell us. The Vaayu runs waterless nebulising oil and comes with the four hotel-inspired blends; the Hotel Collection bottle is water-based and belongs in the ultrasonic machines only. The two formats are not interchangeable. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. Ongoing fragrance supply for the Vaayu is arranged with us directly on WhatsApp: +91 96192 18531. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

ISIPCA Versailles
A note from Sonal
There is a difference between a room that smells nice and a home that has a signature, and almost nobody is told what it is. A room that smells nice is an event: you light a candle, you spray something in the hallway before people arrive, it is lovely for forty minutes and then it is gone. Somewhere else in the house a bathroom gel is doing one thing, a kitchen spray another, and a bedroom reed a third. Four pleasant smells in four rooms is not a fragranced home. It is four rooms.
A signature is the opposite. It is one scent, sized to the house, running on a schedule - so it is already in the air when someone walks through your front door, and already there at eleven at night when you come home yourself, and nobody has lifted a finger to make it happen. That is the whole trick the great hotels use, and it is not complicated: they do not chase smells room by room, they hold one fragrance across the volume people actually move through. In a villa that usually means the entrance, the living room and the dining as one connected space, with the closed rooms handled separately and quietly.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and I have sized this for houses across India, and I would rather tell you honestly that your layout needs two answers than sell you one machine that disappoints you. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with your home's approximate size, the number of floors and a line about the layout - open plan, closed rooms, central air-conditioning or split units - and we will give you a free sizing recommendation. I read those descriptions myself. Everything is made in India, cruelty-free and vegan, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Your home gets a memory; a girl gets a classroom.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a machine's cubic metre rating into my own house?
Two multiplications and one division, and it takes about two minutes with a tape measure. Measure the floor area of the part of your house that is genuinely open to itself - entrance, living, dining, passage, stair void - and ignore every room that stays behind a closed door, because no machine reaches those. Multiply that floor area by your ceiling height to get cubic feet, then divide by 35.3 to get cubic metres. At a standard ten foot ceiling the results come out like this: 1,500 square feet is 15,000 cubic feet, about 425 cubic metres; 2,000 is about 566; 2,500 is about 708; 3,000 is about 850; and 4,000 is about 1,133. The SOSA Vaayu is rated at approximately 1000 cubic metres, so it corresponds to roughly 3,500 square feet of connected air at that height. If any part of your open volume is double height, measure it separately: 600 square feet at a twenty foot ceiling is 12,000 cubic feet, about 340 cubic metres, which is a third of the rating in a room that looks small on a plan. That single sum is why square-foot ratings mislead people with dramatic drawing rooms.
Does a more expensive machine mean a stronger fragrance?
No, and it is worth separating the two ideas because they get conflated constantly. What you pay more for in this category is coverage, dispersion mechanism, scheduling and build - the ability to hold one register evenly across a large connected volume rather than to make one room smell more strongly. Perceived strength in practice is set by three things you control: the volume of air being scented, the intensity setting, and how long the schedule runs. A capable machine run gently in a large room produces a lower, more even level than a small machine run hard in the same room, and the even version is the one that reads as expensive. We also publish no comparison of the seven SOSA registers by throw, longevity or intensity, because no such data exists and inventing it would be dishonest; what we can say is that character differs, so a heavier amber-and-woods register reads as more present in a room than an airy white-tea one. If your goal is a stronger smell rather than a consistent one, you are probably not looking for a whole-home machine at all, and a reed from Rs 749 or a Megh at Rs 3,499 in one room may serve you better.
Is a waterless machine better than an ultrasonic one?
Better for a different job, rather than better. A waterless cold-air machine atomises fragrance oil into an extremely fine dispersion with no water involved, which means no tank to fill, no mist, no damp on a console and no residue ring, and it means the particles travel with the room's air rather than falling out near the source - which is why it can be rated for a large connected volume like the Vaayu's approximately 1000 cubic metres. An ultrasonic vibrates water and a water-based fragrance fluid into a visible cool mist, which is an excellent and much less expensive way to handle one enclosed room: a Boond at Rs 899, a Sukoon at Rs 1,899 or a Megh 6L at Rs 3,499, each with the water-based Hotel Collection from Rs 299. For a bedroom, a home office or a puja room, the ultrasonic is the proportionate answer and the waterless machine would be out of scale. For the connected living volume of a villa, the ultrasonic cannot hold the space evenly and the waterless machine is the right tool. Most large homes end up owning both, and the two fragrance formats are never interchangeable.
Where should the machine actually sit in the room?
Out of sight but not shut in, low rather than high, inside the connected volume, away from air-conditioning draught and away from the seating. Taking those in order: a cold-air unit disperses into the air immediately around it and relies on the room's circulation to carry it, so a console or sideboard with an open back, the space under a console table, a low open shelf, a wall niche or a ventilated media unit all work exactly as well as standing in the open, while a closed cupboard, a drawer or a spot behind a heavy curtain scents the enclosure rather than the room. Low matters because warm air rises and will carry the register upward on its own, which is also why a unit placed near the base of a stairwell reaches an upstairs landing without a second machine. Inside the connected volume matters because putting it in a side room where the socket happened to be free means scenting the side room. Away from a vent matters because a hard draught throws the output one way and the room never settles at one level. And away from the seating means the nearest chair does not get several times what the far one gets. Check three things survive the hiding place: a socket, Bluetooth range to your phone, and access you can reach.
What should I ask a seller that they might not volunteer?
Five questions, and how they answer tells you as much as what they answer. First: what is the coverage in cubic metres, and does that assume one connected volume of air? A seller who does not mention closed doors is describing a warehouse rather than a house. Second: which fragrance format does it take, and can I use the other one? The correct answer is a flat no, because waterless nebulising oil and water-based ultrasonic fluid are not interchangeable in either direction. Third: is any fragrance included in the purchase price, or is that a second invoice? The SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 includes four hotel-inspired waterless blends in the box, and most machines in this category do not. Fourth: what does ongoing fragrance supply cost, and be suspicious of a precise monthly figure, because consumption depends on your air volume, your schedule hours and your intensity setting, and a single number is wrong for almost everybody. Our own answer is that no standalone waterless refill is published for the Vaayu, so we quote no refill price, consumption rate or duration, and supply is arranged on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. Fifth: how loud is it, in a quiet room, at night?

Facts verified August 2026: The SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine covering approximately 1000m³, with Bluetooth app and timer scheduling. It ships with four hotel-inspired waterless blends included in the box, chosen as one of three bundles at purchase: Bundle A - Ritz-Carlton Inspired, Westin Inspired, St. Regis Inspired, 1 Hotels Inspired; Bundle B - Westin Inspired, Shangri-La Inspired, Four Seasons Inspired, Ritz-Carlton Inspired; Bundle C - St. Regis Inspired, W Hotels Inspired, 1 Hotels Inspired, Four Seasons Inspired. Format distinction: the Vaayu and the HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil, while the separate SOSA Hotel Collection fragrance (15ml ₹299) is water-based and runs in the ultrasonic machines only - Boond (₹899), Sukoon (₹1,899) and Megh (₹3,499). The two fragrance formats are not interchangeable, and the Hotel Collection bottle does not go into a Vaayu. SOSA Aangan (₹25,999) and SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) are HVAC nebulising systems for approximately 8,000-10,000 sq ft and 12,000-18,000 sq ft respectively, ducted into central air-conditioning. Reed diffusers need no power and make no noise: Morning Freshness ₹749, Garden Bloom ₹799, Evening Calm ₹799, Mountain Breeze ₹849, Fresh Brew ₹849; 130ml from ₹1,249; duo sets ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598. Scent perception is personal and varies between people in the same room, and coverage figures assume connected air volume rather than a partitioned floor plan. Ventilation, cleaning and air-conditioning come first; fragrance is an addition to a well-kept home and never a substitute for any of them. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any hotel brand. Made in India, cruelty-free and vegan. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Ongoing fragrance supply is arranged with SOSA on WhatsApp: +91 96192 18531.
