The short version is that one machine does not do this, and we would rather say so on the first line than at the bottom of a specification. A 5,000 sq ft showroom is not a large boutique; at the ceiling heights this building type actually uses, it holds more than twice the air a single unit is rated for. What follows is the arithmetic, the three honest routes at this scale, and the one question that decides which of them applies to you.
Quick answers — read this first
What size diffuser does a 5,000 sq ft car showroom need? More than one machine. At a 10 ft ceiling, 5,000 sq ft is 50,000 cubic feet, which divided by 35.3 is about 1,415 cubic metres. At the 15 ft ceiling a real showroom has, it is 75,000 cubic feet, about 2,124 cubic metres. At 20 ft it is 100,000 cubic feet, about 2,833 cubic metres. A SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is rated at roughly 1,000 cubic metres of connected air, so a 15 ft showroom needs either multiple Vaayu units zoned across arrival, lounge and handover, or a SOSA Aangan at Rs 25,999 running through genuine ducted air handling, or a SOSA Meenar at Rs 38,500 for a very large floor. One unit at Rs 11,999 does not scent a showroom, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Is a SOSA Aangan or multiple Vaayu units better for a car showroom? It depends entirely on how the building moves its air. The Aangan at Rs 25,999 is an HVAC nebulising system covering approximately 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft, and it delivers one signature through the duct system - which only works if you genuinely have ducted air handling with a supply and return network serving the floor. A great many Indian showrooms run on VRF cassettes or high-wall units with no ducting at all, and in that case there is nothing to inject into, so the answer is multiple Vaayu units at Rs 11,999 each, placed and zoned. For a very large or multi-level dealership the SOSA Meenar at Rs 38,500 covers approximately 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft. Send us a photo of your ceiling on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 and we will tell you which applies.
Do I need to scent the whole 5,000 sq ft evenly? Usually not, and this is where the sizing conversation gets more interesting than the arithmetic. A car showroom's display floor should carry the lowest level in the building, because that is where customers open vehicles and the new-car interior is the smell you are protecting. The zones that deserve a properly held level are the arrival threshold, the hospitality lounge, the handover and delivery area, and the sales cabins. If those add up to 1,500 or 1,800 sq ft of the 5,000, you are sizing for a fraction of the total volume, and two or three Vaayu units placed at those points is a genuinely better plan than filling the whole hall.
The short answer
Short answer: A 5,000 sq ft car showroom at a 15 ft ceiling is 75,000 cubic feet, about 2,124 cubic metres - far past one SOSA Vaayu, which is rated at roughly 1,000 cubic metres of connected air. At 10 ft it is about 1,415 cubic metres; at 20 ft, about 2,833. The three honest routes: multiple Vaayu units at Rs 11,999 each, zoned across arrival, lounge and handover; SOSA Aangan at Rs 25,999 (HVAC nebulising, approximately 8,000-10,000 sq ft) if the showroom has genuine ducted air handling; or SOSA Meenar at Rs 38,500 for approximately 12,000-18,000 sq ft. Keep the display floor itself at the lowest level in the building. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for premises to ~1000m³; reeds from ₹749 for a single room; cabin systems from ₹1,899; HVAC from ₹25,999.
Talk to us: WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with the type of space and its approximate size for a free sizing and fragrance consult.
Every customer-facing space hosts two audiences at once: the customer who forms an opinion in a single visit, and the staff who breathe that air for eight hours. Commercial scenting serves both with one move - a single refined fragrance, held evenly from the entrance to the far end of the floor, running on a schedule nobody has to remember. Customers experience it as "this brand has itself together"; the team gets premises that smell composed from opening to close.
What should a 5,000 sq ft car showroom actually buy, and will one machine do it?
One machine will not do it, and here is the arithmetic that settles it. 1. Compute the real volume. 5,000 sq ft at 10 ft is 50,000 cubic feet, about 1,415m³. At 15 ft, which is what showrooms are actually built at, it is 75,000 cubic feet, about 2,124m³. At 20 ft it is 100,000 cubic feet, about 2,833m³. 2. Compare it honestly. A SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is rated at roughly 1000m³ of connected air. 2,124 divided by 1,000 is not one machine, and no amount of turning a single unit up makes it one. 3. Ask the question that decides the route: how does the building move its air? If you have genuine ducted air handling with a supply and return network across the floor, SOSA Aangan (₹25,999, HVAC nebulising, approximately 8,000-10,000 sq ft) puts one signature through the ducts and is the cleanest answer at this scale. If the showroom runs on VRF cassettes or high-wall units with no ducting - which is very common in India - there is nothing to inject into, and the answer is multiple Vaayu units placed and zoned. For a very large or multi-level dealership, SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) covers approximately 12,000-18,000 sq ft. 4. Then reduce the problem. You should not be filling the whole hall anyway. The display floor carries the lowest level in the building, because that is where cars are opened. Hold the arrival threshold, the hospitality lounge and the handover area properly, put reeds from ₹749 in enclosed sales cabins, and the volume you are genuinely dosing may be a third of the total. 5. Lock it and calibrate to the staff. Your consultants stand in this air for ten hours; whisper level, one locked setting, and any sensitivity report is a recalibration signal. Registers from the Hotel Collection from ₹299. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with your floor plate, your ceiling height and a photo of the ceiling. One line: 5,000 sq ft at 15 ft is about 2,124m³, far past one Vaayu at ~1000m³ - so multiple ₹11,999 units zoned, Aangan ₹25,999 on ducted air, or Meenar ₹38,500 for a very large floor. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

Sizing a showroom nobody should size on floor area
Three steps: compute the volume at the height you actually have, decide the route by how the building moves its air, and then shrink the problem by scenting the zones that deserve it.
Why this works
Sizing a showroom honestly - the arithmetic before the recommendation
The commercial standard: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, app-scheduled, ~1000m³ coverage. Single rooms start on reeds from ₹749.
Run it at the height you actually have, not at ten feet
Coverage figures assume a connected volume, and volume is floor area multiplied by height. A 5,000 sq ft showroom at a 10 ft ceiling is 50,000 cubic feet, which divided by 35.3 is about 1,415 cubic metres. That is already past a single Vaayu's roughly 1000 cubic metres, and 10 ft is not a height any dealership is built at. At the 15 ft that is normal for this building type, the same plate holds 75,000 cubic feet, about 2,124 cubic metres. At 18 ft it is 90,000 cubic feet, about 2,550 cubic metres. At 20 ft it is 100,000 cubic feet, about 2,833 cubic metres. Add an open mezzanine lounge of 900 sq ft at 10 ft and you are adding 9,000 cubic feet, another 255 cubic metres, because open means connected. This is the whole reason a dealership that bought one machine on the strength of a coverage number is standing in a showroom that smells of nothing. It is not a fault in the machine; it is a division that was never done. Do it once, on paper, before anyone quotes you anything.
Tip: 2,124 divided by 1,000 is not one machine - and turning one unit up does not change the arithmetic.
2
The route
Ducted air handling, or no ducted air handling
Everything at this scale turns on one question that has nothing to do with fragrance: does the showroom have genuine ducted air handling? If it does - an air handling unit with a supply and return duct network serving the floor, which flagship and mall-format showrooms often have - then the SOSA Aangan at Rs 25,999 is the cleanest answer available. It is an HVAC nebulising system covering approximately 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft, it injects into the duct so the signature arrives wherever the air arrives, there is no machine visible on the floor, and there is one setting for the whole space. For a very large dealership, a multi-level building or a group flagship, the SOSA Meenar at Rs 38,500 covers approximately 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft on the same principle. But a great many Indian showrooms run on VRF cassettes, ceiling-suspended units or high-wall splits with no ducting whatsoever, and in that case there is physically nothing to inject into. Then the honest answer is multiple Vaayu units at Rs 11,999 each, placed at the points that matter and set to one common level. Neither route is a compromise. They are answers to two different buildings, and the ceiling tells you which building you are in.
3
The reduction
You are not supposed to fill the whole hall anyway
Before you buy for 2,124 cubic metres, remember what this section has been arguing throughout: the display floor should carry the lowest level in the dealership, because that is where customers open cars and the new-car interior is the asset you are protecting. So the sizing question quietly changes shape. What deserves a properly held level is the arrival threshold, the hospitality lounge where customers wait and talk to finance, the handover and delivery lounge, and the sales cabins. In a 5,000 sq ft showroom those might total 1,500 to 1,800 sq ft - say 1,600 sq ft at 12 ft, which is 19,200 cubic feet, about 544 cubic metres - with the remaining display floor receiving a light, borrowed level from the same units. That is a very different purchase from filling the hall. In practice most 5,000 sq ft showrooms without ducting land on two or three Vaayu units (₹11,999 each) placed at arrival, lounge and handover, running one register from the Hotel Collection (from ₹299) at one locked setting, with reeds from ₹749 in enclosed cabins and washrooms. Ask us to work it against your plan on WhatsApp rather than guessing at it.
Tip: the zones that deserve a held level may be a third of the floor plate - size for those, not for the lease.
The SOSA principle
One machine at ₹11,999 does not scent a car showroom, and we will not pretend it does. At 2,124 cubic metres the question is which of three honest routes fits your building.
Multiple Vaayu units zoned, Aangan at Rs 25,999 through genuine ducted air, or Meenar at Rs 38,500 for a very large floor - decided by the ceiling, not by the budget.

The SOSA commercial edit
Whatever your business sells, the system logic is the same: one signature, sized to the space, scheduled so it never depends on anyone's memory. A single small room or a consultation corner can sit happily on reeds with no power at all; a customer-facing floor wants the Vaayu; a venue or a flagship wants HVAC. Every SOSA system is supported from India, and the Hotel Collection blends - SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations - run across the powered ones. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the full commercial range.

Honest notes for business owners: scenting compounds a well-run premises and rescues nothing. Ventilation, air-conditioning and cleaning come first, and fragrance never substitutes for hygiene or air quality - if the air is stale, damp or smoky, fix that at the source before any scent goes in. The people most exposed to the fragrance are not your customers but your STAFF, who work eight-hour shifts in it, which is why whisper calibration and locked settings are standard on every SOSA commercial install, and any staff sensitivity report should be treated as a recalibration signal rather than a complaint. Healthcare and wellness spaces need extra restraint: keep scenting to reception and circulation areas, never treatment rooms, and the practitioner's judgement overrides anything in this guide. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. Ultrasonic systems use the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance; the Vaayu and HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil - the formats are not interchangeable. WhatsApp consult: +91 96192 18531. ISIPCA Versailles
A note from Sonal
I have walked into jewellery showrooms lit like museums, bridal boutiques with hand-embroidered walls, furniture floors styled down to the last cushion, clinics with better art than most galleries - and in almost every one of them, the air was an afterthought. Floor polish, packaging cartons, the phenyl from the morning mopping, the workshop or the loading bay drifting forward. The one thing every customer takes in before they see anything is the thing most businesses leave to chance.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, where the world's scent-marketing perfumers learn the craft, and what I build for Indian businesses is the same architecture the global hospitality brands use, whatever you sell: one signature, sized to the space, run on a schedule - so the scent is as reliable as your lighting. A consultation corner may only need reeds; a full floor needs the Vaayu; a venue needs the HVAC systems. If you want it applied to your specific premises, message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with the type of space and its approximate size - I read those descriptions myself.
Everything is made or assembled for Indian conditions, supported from Pune - and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Your brand gets a memory; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Could we just run one Vaayu on its highest setting and see how it goes?
You can try it and you will learn something useful, but not what you are hoping. A single unit in about 2,124 cubic metres of connected air will produce a zone of noticeable fragrance within a few metres of itself and very little at the far end of the hall, so what you get is an uneven room rather than a lightly scented one - and the uneven version is the one customers notice, because the change as they walk is what registers. Running it flat out also puts the strongest concentration exactly where the machine and usually a member of staff are standing, which is the wrong distribution for the people most exposed. If budget is the constraint, the better move is one unit doing one zone properly - the arrival threshold or the lounge - and adding the second and third later, rather than one unit failing to do everything.
How do I know whether my showroom has genuine ducted air handling?
Look at the ceiling and at the plant. Ducted air handling means an air handling unit in a plant room feeding a network of supply ducts with linear or square diffusers spread across the ceiling, and a return path - a return grille, a plenum or a ducted return. If instead you see square cassette units set into the ceiling at intervals, or ceiling-suspended or high-wall indoor units, that is VRF or split air-conditioning and there is no duct network to inject into, whatever the system's total tonnage. A hybrid is common in showrooms too: ducted supply over the lounge and cabins, cassettes over the display floor. Photograph the ceiling and the plant room and send both to WhatsApp on +91 96192 18531, and we will tell you plainly which system your building can take.
What is the running cost of scenting a showroom this size?
We do not publish consumption rates, refill frequencies, running costs or blend duration, and that is a deliberate position rather than an evasion. Consumption depends on the volume being served, the number of hours the system runs, the intensity it is locked at and how much air the building exchanges, and a showroom with glass walls and doors opening every two minutes behaves very differently from an enclosed lounge. Any figure published on a page would be wrong for most readers and would be quoted back at us. What we will do is work through your actual numbers with you - floor plate, ceiling height, opening hours, the zones you want held - on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531, and give you a realistic picture for your building rather than a marketing average.
Should the service reception and workshop side be included in the sizing?
Not in the showroom's volume, and mostly not at all. A service reception is usually a separate space with its own door and its own air, so it is sized separately if you decide to scent it, and the workshop itself should not be scented - the honest treatment there is extraction and door discipline rather than fragrance, and technicians need their own sense of smell working for fuel, coolant and burning odours. What is worth holding properly is the customer-facing service lounge, which is a genuinely different problem because service runs next door and the visit is longer and less voluntary than a showroom visit. That has its own page in this section. Keep the two sides of the building as two sizing exercises, not one.
Will a properly scented showroom help us sell more cars?
No supplier can honestly tell you that, and we will not. Ambient scent research supports improved evaluations of a space and its service, longer dwell time and stronger recall, at moderate effect sizes, with congruence and gentle intensity beating strong scenting - and no scent effect survives poor ventilation, poor cleaning or air that smells of the workshop. It does not support any claim about units sold, enquiries, test drives or conversion, and a car purchase runs through finance approval, part-exchange values, waiting lists, family consultation and brand loyalty, none of which fragrance touches. Buy it for the reason it is worth buying: your building currently smells of floor cleaner, tyre dressing and whatever came through the workshop door, and this is how you decide what it smells of instead.

Facts verified August 2026: Ambient scent research consistently associates pleasant, congruent scenting with improved evaluations of a space and its service, longer dwell time and stronger brand recall at moderate effect sizes; congruence (scent matching the setting) and gentle intensity outperform strong scenting in replicated studies, and no scent effect survives poor ventilation, poor cleaning or poor indoor air quality. Olfactory memory is unusually durable: scent-linked brand memories persist and retrieve for years, which is the mechanism behind signature scents. Staff exposure is the design constraint, since employees breathe the fragrance for full shifts: whisper calibration, locked settings and sensitivity accommodations are standard practice, and healthcare and wellness settings call for extra restraint. SOSA systems: alcohol-free reed diffusers from ₹749 for single rooms with no power needed; Sukoon 500ml ultrasonic (₹1,899) and Megh 6L ultrasonic (₹3,499) run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance (from ₹299; refills from ₹999, 100ml ₹999); SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine, ~1000m³ coverage, Bluetooth app and timer; SOSA Aangan (₹25,999) and SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) are HVAC nebulising systems for approximately 8,000-10,000 and 12,000-18,000 sq ft respectively.
