Founder Diaries · Thinking-of-You & Cheer-Up Fragrance Gifting
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 11 min read Updated September 2026
You want one page that settles this rather than six that each sell you something, and the reason most guides cannot do that is that they sort by product when the real variable is the relationship. A thinking-of-you gift has no occasion behind it, so everything about it is read: the size, the type, and what it implies you think is going on. This page runs the framework in order - the size rule, then relationship by relationship, then by what the person can realistically handle receiving, then by budget band. It also names the cases where the answer is to send nothing and ring instead.
SOSA Attar Trio gift box, Ameeri Nawaab and Mastani, Rs 1,055
SOSA Attar Trio · Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in one box ₹1,055 →
It leads this guide because it marks the ceiling rather than the centre. The SOSA Attar Trio, ₹1,055 in 3ml - Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in one box, also ₹1,859 in 6ml and ₹3,189 in 12ml. It is the right answer in one specific case: you cannot name a fragrance they wear and you want them to choose. In every other case on this page the answer is further down - a single 3ml attar at ₹379, or a candle at ₹399.
Quick answers — read this first
What is the rule for thinking-of-you gifts? Go smaller than you first reached for. The honest band is ₹379 to ₹1,000 across almost every relationship, because a large gift arrives at somebody already short of energy and asks them to produce gratitude and a bright phone call. A candle at ₹399 or a 3ml attar from ₹379 does none of that.

What should I send my partner versus a colleague? Different in specificity, not in size. For a partner, something worn - a 3ml attar from ₹379 - because you can name what they like and the point is that you were paying attention. For a colleague, something impersonal: car fragrance from ₹449 or a candle at ₹399, which reads as thoughtful without reading as intimate.

When should I not send a gift at all? When the parcel is standing in for a conversation you have not had, and when the difficulty is serious enough that what is needed is a person rather than an object. Send the small thing as well if you want to, but never instead. Where somebody is dealing with more than a hard week, the person who helps may need to be a professional.
The short answer
Short answer: Size first: Rs 379 to Rs 1,000 covers almost every thinking-of-you gift properly. Then match by relationship - something worn for a partner, something for the room for a friend, something impersonal for a colleague. Then send the sentence yourself, because no card goes in the parcel.
The pick: A candle at ₹399 as the default across every relationship on this page, and a 3ml attar from ₹379 where you can name a fragrance they already wear.
Why: Both are small enough to be accepted without anybody performing gratitude, both get used up rather than kept, and both leave the actual message to you.
Sending something when somebody is having a hard time - at a glanceKeep it small - candle ₹399, attar ₹379, car scent ₹449For their home - reed diffuser ₹749, nothing to switch onSay the words yourself - no card goes in the parcelNever - a parcel instead of turning up
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
Straight answer
What should I send as a thinking-of-you gift to a friend, a partner or a family member?
Work it in this order: size, then relationship, then words. Size first - ₹379 to ₹1,000 is the honest band, and almost everybody arrives at this question intending to spend more than they should. Then relationship. For a partner or a very close friend, something worn: a 3ml attar at ₹379 to ₹399, because you can name what they like and being specific is the entire point. For a friend, a sibling or a parent, something for the room: a SOSA candle at ₹399 at about 15 to 18 hours, or a reed diffuser at ₹749 in 50ml running about 6 to 10 weeks if they have no spare attention for a new object. For a colleague or a friend you are not that close to, something impersonal: car fragrance from ₹449 if they drive. The Attar Trio at ₹1,055 is the top of this guide, not its centre. Then the words, which SOSA cannot send for you - there is no printed card and no note service. A gift says you were thinking about somebody; it is not help, it does not change anybody's week, and where the difficulty is more than a hard stretch the person who helps may need to be a professional. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Every relationship on this page takes the same size of gift and a different degree of specificity. The number barely moves; what moves is how personal it is allowed to be.
The short version of the whole framework: ₹379 to ₹1,000, personal for a partner, for the room for a friend, impersonal for a colleague, and the sentence always from you.
SOSA candles from ₹399

The framework: size, then relationship, then what they can handle receiving

The framework is three questions deep and it runs in a fixed order, because getting them out of order is what produces the gift that lands badly. Size is first and it is not a budget question. Relationship is second and it decides how personal the object is allowed to be. What they can handle receiving is third, and it is the one people skip.

1
First, and it overrides everything
The size rule: go smaller than you first reached for
A gift is not free to receive. It has to be opened, understood, thanked for, and usually responded to with a warmth the person has to find from somewhere. That bill scales with the size of the parcel, and it is being handed to somebody who is already short of exactly that currency. This is why the standard instinct - spend more, because they are having a hard time - produces the opposite of what it intends.

So set the band before you look at anything: ₹379 to ₹1,000. A 3ml attar is ₹379 to ₹399, a candle is ₹399, a two-candle duo is ₹699, car fragrance is ₹449 to ₹549, a 50ml reed diffuser is ₹749 to ₹849. Above that you are into reed duo sets at ₹1,498 and machines, and those are occasion gifts and household purchases wearing a thinking-of-you label. If you want the gesture to feel bigger, be more specific, not more expensive.
Tip: The size of a no-occasion parcel is read as how serious you think their situation is. Small is kinder.
2
Second
By relationship: how personal is this allowed to be?
The number stays roughly the same across every relationship here. What changes is how close to the body the gift gets. A partner takes the most personal thing on the list - a worn fragrance, a 3ml attar at ₹379 to ₹399 - because you can name what they like and because being specific is what the gift is for. A close friend takes either: a worn attar if you can name a scent, a candle at ₹399 if you cannot. A friend you are not that close to takes the room rather than the person - a candle, or car fragrance at ₹449 - because a worn fragrance from somebody who has guessed is an awkward object to own.

A sibling is usually the easiest, because you can be blunt and ask what they actually want; the gift can be smaller than with anyone else and still land. A parent is the one case where a reed diffuser at ₹749 earns its price, because it sits in a room you know and asks nothing of them - no flame, no socket, nothing to remember - and because parents keep things, so consumable matters more here than anywhere. A colleague takes the least personal thing available: car fragrance at ₹449 if they drive, or a candle at ₹399, and nothing that could read as intimate. Nothing romantic where the relationship is not romantic, which sounds obvious and is the commonest way a well-meant work gift goes wrong.
3
Third, and most often skipped
What can this person actually handle receiving right now?
This is a different question from what they would like, and on a hard week it is the one that decides the outcome. Rank the whole range by how much of the recipient's remaining attention it consumes. A reed diffuser consumes none: it stands up and works. A candle consumes one optional action. An attar consumes one optional action and a small taste judgement. A diffuser machine - Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899, Megh ₹5,999 - has to be unboxed, filled, plugged in, positioned and remembered, which is a job, and handing somebody a job is not a gift. The same goes for wax melts at ₹499 without the ₹599 ceramic burner, and for the ₹299 water-based Hotel Collection bottle, which is fuel for an ultrasonic machine rather than a present at all.

Then ask the harder version. Is the parcel doing the easy half of something? Buying is quicker than finding words for a situation you cannot fix, and it does not read that way to the recipient but it tends to feel that way to you afterwards. SOSA encloses no printed card and has no note-with-the-order service, so the message is yours regardless - a text, a voice note, a call, naming the actual thing rather than writing around it and asking nothing back. If you are choosing between the bigger gift and making the call, make the call. Send the small thing too if you want to. And where somebody is dealing with more than a difficult stretch, the useful presence is a person, and sometimes that person needs to be a professional.
Tip: Rank by effort, not price. Anything that arrives needing setup is the wrong gift for a hard week.
SOSA Cozy Corner scented candle, Rs 399
The smallest thing that still reads as a gift
A candle at ₹399 asks nothing of the person receiving it
Hand-poured in small batches. Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings and Evening Walks are ₹399 each at about 15 to 18 hours of burn time, and ₹699 for a two-candle duo at about 30 to 36 hours. The Woodenwick candles in jasmine, sandalwood and vanilla are ₹999. A candle is a scent and an object to light - it is not a treatment and it will not change how a week went.
See the SOSA candles →
Work it out in this order
The whole framework in four steps
  1. Set the band first: Rs 379 to Rs 1,000, before you look at any product.
  2. Match specificity to relationship: worn for a partner, room for a friend.
  3. Rank by effort. Nothing that needs unboxing, filling or plugging in.
  4. Write two specific sentences and send them yourself, the same day.
The SOSA principle
Across every relationship in this guide the price barely moves. What moves is how personal the object is allowed to be, and how much of their attention it is fair to spend.
Which is why a Rs 399 candle is the right answer for a colleague, a sibling and a best friend, and only the sentence changes.

By budget band, from Rs 379

Now by budget band, with the real numbers. ₹379 to ₹449 is the workhorse band and it contains three real gifts: a 3ml attar - Adaa ₹379, Ameeri ₹385, Mastani ₹389, Nawaab ₹399, alcohol-free and rolled on - a candle at ₹399 in Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings or Evening Walks at about 15 to 18 hours, and car fragrance from ₹449. ₹449 to ₹699 adds the rest of the car range up to ₹549 in hanging or spray at the same price, Bubble Candles at ₹499 unscented and ₹599 scented, and the two-candle duo at ₹699 running about 30 to 36 hours. ₹699 to ₹1,000 is reed diffuser territory: 50ml at ₹749 for Morning Freshness, ₹799 for Garden Bloom and Evening Calm, ₹849 for Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew, all lasting about 6 to 10 weeks - plus the Woodenwick candles in jasmine, sandalwood and vanilla at ₹999 and the 6ml attars from ₹669. Above ₹1,000 sits the Attar Trio at ₹1,055, the 130ml reeds from ₹1,249 and the reed duo sets from ₹1,498, and those last two are household gifts for a real occasion rather than thinking-of-you gifts.

The SOSA gift edit
The four budget bands, and what each one is honestly for
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
₹379 to ₹449 · the default band A 3ml attar at ₹379 to ₹399, a candle at ₹399 at about 15 to 18 hours, or car fragrance from ₹449. This is where most thinking-of-you gifts should live for every relationship on this page, colleague to partner. Small enough that nobody has to respond in kind. It fails only when the gift genuinely is meant to be the big one, which for a no-occasion parcel it usually is not.
₹449 to ₹699 · a little more deliberate Car fragrance to ₹549 in hanging or spray, Bubble Candles at ₹499 unscented and ₹599 scented, and the two-candle duo at ₹699 running about 30 to 36 hours. Right for a partner, a sibling or a close friend where the smallest option would read as offhand. Wax melts sit here at ₹499 and are the exception: they need a ₹599 ceramic burner, so on their own they are a component rather than a gift.
₹699 to ₹1,000 · the ceiling for this kind of gift A 50ml reed diffuser at ₹749 to ₹849, about 6 to 10 weeks, asking nothing of anybody - no flame, no socket, nothing to remember. Or a Woodenwick candle at ₹999, or a 6ml attar from ₹669. Right for a parent, a partner, or somebody who has just moved into a flat they have not settled into. It fails as a casual gesture: at this price the recipient starts wondering what prompted it.
Above ₹1,000 · usually the wrong answer here The Attar Trio at ₹1,055, 130ml reeds from ₹1,249, reed duo sets from ₹1,498, the ultrasonic machines from ₹899 to ₹5,999 and SOSA Safar at ₹3,999. These are occasion gifts and household purchases. Sent with no occasion to somebody having a hard time, a parcel this size asks for a reaction they may not have spare - and a machine asks to be set up, which is a job rather than a present.
SOSA Morning Freshness reed diffuser, Malabar lemon and mint, Rs 749
The gift that asks for nothing at all
A reed diffuser needs no flame, no socket and nothing remembered
Five scents in 50ml from ₹749 and 130ml from ₹1,249, running about 6 to 10 weeks. Morning Freshness is Malabar lemon and mint, Garden Bloom is British rose and night jasmine, Mountain Breeze is pine, sage and cedar, Fresh Brew is Coorg coffee and vanilla. Evening Calm is lavender and chamomile - that is the name on the bottle and a description of what it smells of, not a claim about what it does.
See the reed diffusers →

Two closing rules that apply across every band. First, consumable beats keepable. A candle burns down, an attar runs out, a reed diffuser finishes after about 6 to 10 weeks and the sticks come out of the bottle. Nothing in that list ever becomes an ornament somebody has to keep, display and eventually feel guilty about, which is a real cost of a well-meant gift and one nobody mentions. Second, the words are the gift and the object is the carrier. SOSA encloses no printed card and there is no note-with-the-order service, so whatever you send arrives unexplained unless you explain it. Two sentences, naming the actual thing, asking nothing back. Write those first. If they are good, a ₹399 candle will carry them; if there are none, nothing in this guide will supply them.

SOSA Bookshop scented candle, hand-poured, Rs 399
Hand-poured in small batches, about 15 to 18 hours of burn time, or about 30 to 36 hours in the two-candle duo. The smallest gift here that still looks like a gift.
₹399 · duo ₹699
SOSA Adaa attar, bergamot and jasmine sambac, from Rs 379
Alcohol-free oil rolled onto the pulse points rather than sprayed. Adaa, Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml - and the 3ml is the right one here.
from ₹379 · 3ml
SOSA Morning Freshness reed diffuser, Malabar lemon and mint, Rs 749
Malabar lemon and mint, 50ml, about 6 to 10 weeks. Nothing to plug in, switch off or remember - which matters when somebody has nothing spare to give a new object.
₹749 · 50ml
When the gift is meant to be the big one
SOSA Safar ₹3,999 for the car, SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 for the whole home
Safar is the waterless, cordless, rechargeable cold-diffusion perfume diffuser for a car or a travel bag - ₹3,999 for the SOSA-scent trios and ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios. Vaayu is the machine version of the same idea for a building: waterless cold-air nebulising of undiluted oil, rated for approximately 1000 m3 of connected air, with a Bluetooth app and timer, a 400ml tank, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, DC 12V / 1A 5W mains power and CE, RoHS and SGS marks. Both run waterless nebuliser oil - 100 gm ₹1,049, 300 gm ₹1,849 - and neither takes the ₹299 water-based Hotel Collection bottle. A rating assumes one connected body of air, so a Vaayu suits a large open home or a business and is the wrong gift for a two-bedroom flat with every door closed. It adds a scent to a space; it does not remove one.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every one of these, and neither is about price. First: how much energy does this ask of them? A candle is lit and that is the whole interaction; a reed diffuser asks nothing at all; a machine asks to be filled, plugged in and remembered, which is the wrong thing to hand somebody who is already running on empty. Second: can you name something they already like? If yes, an attar is accurate. If no, buy for the room instead, because a room has no opinion and a person does. Then keep the number low - on a hard week the size of a gift is a demand, not a kindness.

The SOSA gifting range
Pick by how small it can be while still being specific - in that order
Gift What it is Who it suits Price
SOSA scented candles Hand-poured, small batches Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings and Evening Walks at about 15 to 18 hours of burn time; duos at about 30 to 36 hours from ₹399
SOSA attars Alcohol-free roll-on oil Adaa, Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml - the smallest serious fragrance gift there is from ₹379
SOSA reed diffusers Passive home fragrance Five scents in 50ml and 130ml, nothing to plug in or switch off, about 6 to 10 weeks from ₹749
SOSA Attar Trio Pack of three attars Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani in one box - for when you cannot name a scent they wear from ₹1,055
SOSA wax melts Flameless, needs a burner Scented wax for a ceramic or electric burner - only for somebody who already owns one, or buy the burner too from ₹499
SOSA car fragrance Hanging or spray Nine scents, each in a mild hanging format and a stronger spray at the same price from ₹449
SOSA reed duo sets Two reeds in one box Day & Night, Fresh & Grounded and Warmth & Bloom - the larger home gift, for a real occasion from ₹1,498

Three different fluids run through this range and none of them is interchangeable. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil. The SOSA ultrasonics - Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899 and Megh ₹5,999 - run the water-based Hotel Collection from ₹299. Vaayu and Safar run waterless nebulising oil, so the ₹299 water-based bottle never goes into either of them. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

The honest price sheet
What SOSA publishes, and what SOSA does not
Everything below is on the live product pages. Anything not on this list is not something a gifting page should state.
  • Attars - Adaa ₹379 / ₹669 / ₹1,149, Ameeri ₹385 / ₹679 / ₹1,165, Mastani ₹389 / ₹685 / ₹1,179 and Nawaab ₹399 / ₹699 / ₹1,199 in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. The Attar Trio is ₹1,055, ₹1,859 or ₹3,189.
  • Reed diffusers - Morning Freshness ₹749, Garden Bloom and Evening Calm ₹799, Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew ₹849 in 50ml; 130ml from ₹1,249. They last about 6 to 10 weeks. Duo sets from ₹1,498.
  • Car fragrance - nine scents from ₹449 to ₹549, each in a mild hanging format and a stronger spray at the same price, with 50ml sprays at ₹1,499 and saver combos at ₹899 to ₹949. Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios.
  • Candles and wax melts - Bookshop, Cozy Corner, Misty Mornings and Evening Walks at ₹399 for approximately 15 to 18 hours, or ₹699 for a two-candle duo at approximately 30 to 36 hours. Woodenwick candles in jasmine, sandalwood and vanilla ₹999. Bubble Candles ₹499 unscented and ₹599 scented. Wax melts from ₹499, which need a ceramic burner at ₹599 - so they are only a complete gift for somebody who already owns one.
  • Not published, and therefore never stated here: how long any fragrance will be liked, delivery or dispatch timing, any festive discount, any minimum order quantity or bulk rate, and any claim about what a person will feel on receiving a gift. Those questions go to WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

A note from Sonal

The messages that stay with me are not the festive ones. They are the ones that start my friend is having an awful time and I do not know what to do. People write that at eleven at night, and what they are really asking is whether there is an object that will help. I have been doing this long enough to answer it honestly: there is not. A fragrance is a scent. It will not fix a week, it will not undo a rejection, and anybody selling it to you as comfort is selling you something else.

What a small parcel does do is carry one piece of information, and it is not a small one: I was thinking about you on a day when nothing made me. No birthday, no festival, nothing on a calendar. Somebody stopped in the middle of their own week and thought about yours. That is worth sending, and it is the entire reason this category exists.

So the practical advice runs the other way from what people expect. Go smaller. A large gift arrives at somebody who is already short of energy and asks them to produce a reaction - gratitude, surprise, a phone call they have to be bright on. A ₹399 candle or a ₹379 attar asks for none of that. And send the words yourself, separately: we put no printed card in the parcel, and even if we did, a sentence from you naming the actual thing they are dealing with does more than anything we could print. If you are choosing between the bigger gift and making the call, make the call. The gift goes alongside that, never instead of it.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I spend on a thinking-of-you gift?
Rs 379 to Rs 1,000 covers almost every version properly, whatever the relationship. Spending more does not communicate more - it shifts the weight of the gesture onto the person receiving it, who then has to be grateful at a scale they may not have spare. If you want it to feel more considered, be more specific rather than more expensive.
What should I send a friend versus a family member?
The price is similar; the specificity is not. A close friend or a partner can take something worn, like a 3ml attar at Rs 379 to Rs 399, because you can name what they like. A parent is usually better served by something for the room - a candle at Rs 399, or a reed diffuser at Rs 749 that needs no flame and no socket. A sibling is the one person you can simply ask.
What is appropriate for a colleague?
Something impersonal and small. Car fragrance from Rs 449 if they drive, or a candle at Rs 399. Avoid anything worn on the body and anything that could read as intimate. A short, plain message is better than a warm one here, and nothing about it should imply the relationship is closer than it is.
Is a gift ever the wrong thing to send?
Yes, in two situations. When the parcel is standing in for a conversation you have been avoiding, and when the difficulty is serious enough that what is needed is a person. In both cases the parcel is fine as an addition and poor as a substitute. Where somebody is dealing with more than a hard week, the person who helps may need to be a professional, and nothing on this page is advice about anybody's health.
Can SOSA recommend one thing for a specific person?
Yes. Message SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with who the person is to you, whether their home is already scented, whether they drive, whether they light candles, and what you want to spend. You will get one recommendation rather than a catalogue, including the times the honest answer is the cheaper product or a phone call rather than a parcel.

Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent and does not remove, neutralise or purify odour, and no SOSA product makes any health, antibacterial, air-purifying or wellbeing claim. No claim is made about how any recipient will feel about a gift. No claim is made anywhere on this page about mood, stress, calm, sleep, comfort or wellbeing: fragrance is a scent, not a treatment, and where a product name contains a word such as Calm that is a name and not an effect. Where this guide covers sending something to a person having a difficult time, it treats a gift as a gesture of attention alongside real support and never as a substitute for a person or for professional help, and it gives no mental-health advice. No delivery date, dispatch time, order cut-off, discount or minimum order quantity is stated anywhere on this page; corporate and bulk enquiries are answered on WhatsApp. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand; the SOSA perfumes are SOSA's own compositions and are not the designer fragrances they are described as being inspired by.
