If you are buying for a 3BHK you have the opposite problem to everybody else on this subject: the usual advice is that people over-buy, and here a single 50ml is the bottle that will quietly under-deliver. A 3BHK almost always means one continuous living and dining run plus three closed bedrooms, and that main room is the only common Indian apartment layout where the 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 is genuinely the correct call rather than the expensive one. The bedrooms are a separate question, and the answer to them is not another big bottle.
The big-room bottle, with a condition attached. SOSA Fresh Brew, ₹849 for 50ml and ₹1,349 for 130ml - Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla, the most opinionated of the five, and a good use of a large open living and dining run if you know the household's taste. If you do not, take the same 130ml size in Morning Freshness at ₹1,249. About 6 to 10 weeks either way.
Quick answers — read this first
What size reed diffuser suits a 3BHK? The 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 for the main living and dining area, because in a 3BHK that is usually one open run rather than a closed room. A 50ml at ₹749 to ₹849 is correct for any of the three bedrooms, a study or the entrance passage.
Should I buy three diffusers for a three-bedroom flat? No. Three bedrooms are three closed doors with one person each behind them, and two of them are usually a child's room, a study or a guest room. Buy for the room the household shares, and add a second 50ml only if you know the main bedroom is in daily use.
Is a 130ml worth the extra over a 50ml? Only when the room earns it. In an open-plan 3BHK living and dining area the 130ml is the right size; in a bedroom the same bottle is too much and tends to get moved. Size is a room decision, never a budget one, and both sizes run about 6 to 10 weeks.
The short answer
Short answer: Buy the 130ml at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349 for the main living and dining area, which in a 3BHK is usually one open run. Use 50ml at Rs 749 to Rs 849 for a bedroom or an entrance. Do not buy one bottle per bedroom.
The pick: A 130ml reed at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 for the main room, and a 50ml from ₹749 if a second room genuinely needs one.
Why: A 3BHK main room is usually an open living and dining run, which is the space the larger bottle was sized for, while the three bedrooms are ordinary closed 50ml rooms.
A gift cannot change how somebody's week went, and a page that suggests otherwise is not worth reading. What a small parcel does is tell a person you were thinking about them on a day when nothing made you - which is a real thing to say, and worth saying. Keep it small, because a large one asks somebody already short of energy to produce a reaction, and send the words separately, because the object cannot carry them.
What size reed diffuser should you gift for a 3BHK apartment?
Start with the floor plan rather than the price list. A 3BHK in most newer buildings is built around one continuous living and dining space - often an L that runs from the entrance past a dining table to a balcony door - and three bedrooms with doors that stay shut. That main run is larger and more connected than anything in a 1BHK or a standard 2BHK, and it is the one layout where a single 50ml at ₹749 to ₹849 is genuinely under-powered rather than merely modest. The 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 is the same five scents in the bottle that was sized for exactly that room, and it runs about 6 to 10 weeks like the small one, because the larger bottle buys volume of room and not extra weeks. Where not to spend: do not buy one bottle per bedroom, and do not put a 130ml behind a closed bedroom door - that is the commonest mistake in this category and the bottle usually ends up on a landing. If you want a second room covered, a 50ml in the main bedroom or a duo set at ₹1,498 to ₹1,598 is the sensible way to do it. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
A 3BHK is not three bedrooms with a living room attached. It is one big shared room that does all the work, and three doors that are mostly closed.
The 3BHK line: 130ml from ₹1,249 in the open living and dining run, 50ml from ₹749 if a bedroom or the entrance also needs one. Never one bottle per bedroom.
The three measurements that settle a 3BHK purchase
Three things about a 3BHK decide the purchase, and none of them is what the flat cost. Walk the plan in this order and the bottle picks itself.
1
Measurement one
How far does the main room actually run?
In a 3BHK the living room and the dining area are usually not two rooms with a wall between them. They are one run, frequently L-shaped, with the sofa at one end, a dining table at the other and a balcony door somewhere along it - and a scent placed at one end of that run has a long way to travel before it reaches the other. That distance is the whole argument for the larger bottle, and it is a physical argument rather than a flattering one.
This is where the general advice in this category inverts. Everywhere else the warning is against over-buying, because a big bottle in a small closed room is wasteful and gets moved. Here the risk runs the other way: a 50ml at ₹749 on a console at the door of a 3BHK will be noticed on the way past and not much further in. The 130ml at ₹1,249 to ₹1,349 is the one sized for the run.
Tip: If the sofa and the dining table share one space with no wall, buy the 130ml.
2
Measurement two
How many of the three bedrooms are genuinely in use?
Almost never three. In most 3BHK households one bedroom is the main one, one belongs to a child or a parent, and the third is a study, a guest room or the place the ironing board lives. A diffuser in a room nobody walks through is a bottle running down for nobody, and buying three of anything for a flat because it has three of something is shopping by arithmetic rather than by use.
So the honest ceiling here is two bottles: the main room, and at most one bedroom that is in daily use. If that is the plan, the second bottle is a 50ml, because a bedroom is a closed room with a door and always has been the small bottle's space. The duo sets at ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598 are two 50ml bottles in one box, which covers a bedroom and a study neatly - but for a 3BHK main room, a duo is not a substitute for the single 130ml.
3
Measurement three
Is there a real entrance, and how much of it is open?
A 3BHK usually has something a smaller flat does not: a proper entrance area, a passage to the bedrooms, or a foyer with a console or a shoe cabinet. That is the single best 50ml position in the home, because it is the first surface anybody passes and it is a narrow space that a small bottle can actually hold. If you are giving two things, the entrance is a better second choice than a third bedroom.
The counterweight is ventilation. Many larger flats have two or three open sides, cross-draughts through balcony doors and long stretches of window, and air that moves carries a scent away from where you put it. That is a further reason the main room in this layout takes the larger bottle - and a reason to put the bottle on a surface away from the balcony door rather than beside it. A reed diffuser adds a scent to a room; it does not do anything to the air beyond that.
Tip: The entrance console is the best 50ml spot in a 3BHK. The third bedroom is the worst.
The size decision, before the scent decision
50ml or 130ml is a room question, not a budget question
The 50ml from ₹749 suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or anybody receiving their first diffuser. The 130ml from ₹1,249 suits an open-plan living and dining area or a large 3BHK living room, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom - a bigger bottle in the wrong room gets moved into a corridor. All five scents run about 6 to 10 weeks either way.
Sizing a reed diffuser gift for a 3BHK in four steps
Check whether the living and dining run as one open space with no wall.
If they do, take the 130ml at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349 for that room.
Add a 50ml at Rs 749 only for a bedroom or entrance in daily use.
Do not buy one bottle per bedroom, and never a 130ml behind a door.
The SOSA principle
The 130ml is not the generous version of the 50ml. It is the bottle for a room that is too long for the small one, which is why a 3BHK is one of the very few homes where recommending it is honest rather than flattering.
Buy it because you have looked at the main room, not because the flat has three bedrooms and you want the gift to match.
Which scent survives a big shared room, and in which size
A large shared room changes which of the five is a sensible choice, because it is the room where a household eats, works and receives visitors at the same time. Fresh Brew at ₹849 for 50ml and ₹1,349 for 130ml is Coorg coffee and Kerala vanilla, and it is the strongest opinion in the range - excellent in a large open living and dining area for somebody whose taste you know, and the easiest of the five to get wrong for somebody you do not. Mountain Breeze at ₹849 and ₹1,349 is Himalayan pine, sage and cedar, dry and green rather than sweet, which is the safer pick when the dining table is part of the same room. Morning Freshness at ₹749 and ₹1,249 is Malabar lemon and mint and the least declarative of the five. Garden Bloom at ₹799 and ₹1,299 is British rose and night-blooming jasmine. Evening Calm at ₹799 and ₹1,299 is lavender and chamomile - that is the name printed on the bottle and a description of what is inside it, not a claim about what it does.
The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to buy for a three-bedroom flat, and where each one fails
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
One 130ml, main room · ₹1,249 to ₹1,349
The default 3BHK purchase, and the one case where the bigger bottle is the accurate answer rather than the expensive one. About 6 to 10 weeks, no flame, nothing to switch off. It fails if the flat is an older 3BHK with a small closed drawing room, where it is simply too much.
One 50ml, main room · ₹749 to ₹849
Right for an older three-bedroom flat with a separate closed living room, and right for any bedroom, study or entrance in any 3BHK. It fails in a long open living and dining run, where it does its work in the first few feet and is barely noticed at the far end.
A duo set, two 50ml · ₹1,498 to ₹1,598
Two 50ml bottles in one box - Day & Night ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded ₹1,548, Warmth & Bloom ₹1,598. Good for a bedroom plus a study, and good when the gift must look like an occasion. It fails as the answer for the main room: two small bottles are not one correctly sized one.
A 130ml duo · ₹2,498 to ₹2,598
Two large bottles, for a home with two genuinely large open rooms - a duplex, a villa floor or a 3BHK with a separate family lounge. It fails in an ordinary 3BHK, where the second big bottle has no room left that deserves it and ends up in a bedroom.
When it has to look like an occasion
A duo set is the readymade gift box, without anybody assembling a hamper
Two 50ml reeds in one box: Day & Night pairs Morning Freshness lemon-mint with Evening Calm lavender-chamomile at ₹1,498, Fresh & Grounded pairs lemon-mint with Mountain Breeze pine and cedar at ₹1,548, and Warmth & Bloom pairs Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla with Garden Bloom rose-jasmine at ₹1,598. The 130ml x 2 versions are ₹2,498, ₹2,548 and ₹2,598.
One footnote that matters more in a larger home than a small one, because the main room tends to be kept running all year. Four of the five scents publish refills at ₹2,399 for 300ml and ₹3,499 for 500ml, so a household that settles on one scent for the living and dining run can keep it going without re-choosing. Evening Calm is the exception and publishes no refill, which is worth knowing before you make it the standing scent of the biggest room in the flat. If the recipient is not the sort to reorder anything, that argues for one of the four refillable scents in the main room and the duo set for the smaller rooms.
Morning Freshness and Evening Calm in one box, two 50ml bottles. The readymade housewarming and client gift, without a hamper in sight.
₹1,498 · 50ml x 2
When the gift is meant to be the big one
SOSA Safar ₹3,999 for the car, SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 for the whole home
Safar is the waterless, cordless, rechargeable cold-diffusion perfume diffuser for a car or a travel bag - ₹3,999 for the SOSA-scent trios and ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired trios. Vaayu is the machine version of the same idea for a building: waterless cold-air nebulising of undiluted oil, rated for approximately 1000 m3 of connected air, with a Bluetooth app and timer, a 400ml tank, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, DC 12V / 1A 5W mains power and CE, RoHS and SGS marks. Both run waterless nebuliser oil - 100 gm ₹1,049, 300 gm ₹1,849 - and neither takes the ₹299 water-based Hotel Collection bottle. A rating assumes one connected body of air, so a Vaayu suits a large open home or a business and is the wrong gift for a two-bedroom flat with every door closed. It adds a scent to a space; it does not remove one.
Tell SOSA who it is for, roughly how big the room is, whether their home is already scented and what you want to spend - and you will be told which size and which scent, including the times the honest answer is the 50ml rather than the 130ml.
There are perhaps two rooms in an ordinary Indian flat where I will tell somebody to buy the big bottle, and the open living and dining run of a 3BHK is one of them.

The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every reed diffuser gift, and the first one is not price. How big is the room it is going into? A 50ml suits a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a first diffuser; a 130ml suits an open-plan living and dining area, and it is genuinely too much for a small closed bedroom. Then: how much do you actually know about their taste? The less you know, the less declarative the scent should be - Morning Freshness is the safest of the five for a home you have never stood in, and Fresh Brew coffee-vanilla is the strongest opinion in the range. Price follows those two answers rather than leading them.
The SOSA gifting range
Pick the size by the room, then the scent by how little you know about them
Approx 1000 m3 of connected air with a Bluetooth app and timer - a large open home or a business, not a flat
₹11,999
Three different fluids run through this range and none of them is interchangeable. Reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil. The SOSA ultrasonics - Boond ₹899, Sukoon ₹1,899 and Megh ₹5,999 - run the water-basedHotel Collection from ₹299. Vaayu and Safar run waterless nebulising oil, so the ₹299 water-based bottle never goes into either of them. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Not sure which size or which scent? Tell SOSA on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 four things: who it is for and how well you know them, roughly how big the room is, whether their home is already scented, and what you want to spend. A note from Sonal
The reed diffuser is the product people are least embarrassed to give and most surprised by afterwards. What they expect is a decorative object. What it actually is, is a small piece of a household that runs for six to ten weeks and then ends, which is a very different thing from an ornament somebody has to keep forever out of politeness.
The reason I recommend it so often for gifting is unromantic: you are buying for a room rather than for a person. Personal fragrance is a taste decision, and when you cannot finish the sentence she usually wears something with..., no amount of money makes the guess better. A room does not have a signature scent it is loyal to. That is why a reed diffuser works for a colleague, a client, a mother-in-law and a friend's new flat - relationships where you may like somebody very much and still have no idea what is on their dressing table.
The one thing I would press on is size, because it is where good intentions go wrong. The 130ml is not the better gift, it is the bigger room's gift. Put it in a small closed bedroom and the person will move it to a corridor within a week. A 50ml at ₹749 in the right room beats a 130ml at ₹1,249 in the wrong one every single time, and if you want to spend more, spend it on the duo set so they get two rooms rather than one very loud one.
Frequently asked questions
Should I gift a 50ml or a 130ml for a 3BHK?
The 130ml at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349 if the living and dining area runs as one open space, which is how most newer 3BHKs are built. The 50ml at Rs 749 to Rs 849 if the flat is an older layout with a separate closed drawing room, and for any bedroom, study or entrance.
Do I need a diffuser in every bedroom of a 3BHK?
No. In most three-bedroom households only one or two bedrooms are in daily use, and the third is a study, a guest room or storage. Buy for the shared room first, add at most one bedroom, and treat two bottles as the sensible ceiling rather than three.
Does the 130ml last longer than the 50ml?
No. SOSA publishes about 6 to 10 weeks for both, because the larger bottle is sized for a larger volume of room rather than for a longer run. That is exactly why the choice between them is a room decision and not a way of buying more weeks for more money.
Is a duo set a better gift than one 130ml for a 3BHK?
Only if you are buying for two smaller rooms. A duo set at Rs 1,498 to Rs 1,598 is two 50ml bottles, which suits a bedroom and a study. For a long open living and dining run, one 130ml at Rs 1,249 to Rs 1,349 is the correct size and two small bottles are not a substitute.
Where should the bottle be placed in an open living and dining area?
On a surface somewhere along the middle of the run rather than at one far end, and away from a balcony door where a draught pulls air straight out. A console near the entrance is the other good position, and it is the best spot for a 50ml if you are giving two bottles.
Take the next step
Buy the size the main room needs, then pick the scent by how well you know them
A 130ml from ₹1,249 for the open living and dining run of a 3BHK; a 50ml from ₹749 for a bedroom, a study or the entrance console; a duo set from ₹1,498 when two smaller rooms are the target. Send SOSA the layout on WhatsApp and you will get one recommendation rather than a list.
Not sure which one suits the person you are buying for? Send SOSA their age, whether they drive, whether they like their home scented and your budget on WhatsApp, and you will get an honest answer - including when the cheaper product is the better gift.
