Combo 1 · The Luxury Hotel Collection — Quiet Luxury, White Tea Serenity, Old-World Glamour, Forest Suite. The broadest span; the default when unsure.
Combo 2 · Fresh & Relaxing — White Tea Serenity, Tea Garden, Warm Welcome, Quiet Luxury. Lightest and greenest; coastal, humid and compact properties.
Combo 3 · Signature Luxury — Old-World Glamour, Lobby Bar, Forest Suite, Warm Welcome. Warmest and most characterful; high ceilings, villas, period buildings.
2. Coastal, humid or compact — Combo 2, Fresh & Relaxing. White Tea Serenity, Tea Garden, Warm Welcome and Quiet Luxury. No heavy amber in the set, which matters in a Goa or Kochi August when warm materials already feel warmer than they are.
3. High-ceilinged, large or period — Combo 3, Signature Luxury. Old-World Glamour, Lobby Bar, Forest Suite and Warm Welcome. These have the density to still be present at nose level in a room with volume above it.
4. Anything else, or genuinely unsure — Combo 1. Quiet Luxury, White Tea Serenity, Old-World Glamour and Forest Suite covers the register end to end, so you can find the one that suits the property and then hold it.
5. You cannot mix your own four. The three sets are fixed at checkout and the price is identical, so choose the set whose majority suits your property rather than hunting for one perfect bottle.
6. Under about 300 sq ft, or one closed room, do not buy this machine at all. A Sukoon at ₹1,899 with water-based Hotel Collection from ₹299, or a reed diffuser from ₹749, is the right answer and a fraction of the money.
SOSA is an independent Indian house and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand; these are original interpretations of a style. No separate Vaayu refill oil is sold at present. Nothing here claims an effect on ratings, reviews, bookings or occupancy. Reed compositions are handmade in Pune, the machines are made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Part one — the three things the building decides for you
Preference is not irrelevant, but it is the last variable rather than the first. Before it, three properties of the building itself determine whether a given composition will read as intended, and all three are measurable rather than matters of taste. Get these right and almost any of the seven fragrances will work; get them wrong and your favourite will be the one that disappoints you.
Sukoon₹1,899 · 270–320 sq ftEvery property has a resident smell before you add anything: salt and damp on a coast, deodar and woodsmoke in the hills, dust and traffic in a city, a kitchen in almost all of them. A fragrance either agrees with that or argues with it, and arguments are what guests notice. In heat and high humidity, warm materials read heavier than they measure, which makes an amber-weighted set the wrong instinct for a Goa or Kochi listing in August and the right one for Delhi in January. This is also where the format matters: an ultrasonic machine such as the Sukoon is water-based and adds a little humidity to the room, which is a fair trade in a dry winter and less welcome in a coastal monsoon. The Vaayu is waterless, so it adds fragrance without adding damp.Part two — property type to combo
Nine common Indian listings, the combo I would choose, and the fragrance within it I would lead on. "Lead on" matters because you have four bottles and a signature needs one — the rest are for the other properties you own, or for the day you change your mind.
| Listing | Combo | Lead on | Why the building says so |
|---|---|---|---|
| City 3BHK, ordinary ceilings ★ | 1 · Luxury Hotel Collection | Quiet Luxury | Unknown guests, standard volume — the safest register wins |
| Coastal apartment or beach flat | 2 · Fresh & Relaxing | White Tea Serenity | Humidity makes warm materials heavier; nothing ambery in this set |
| Hill-station cottage | 1 · Luxury Hotel Collection | Forest Suite | Cedar and vetiver agree with the deodar already outside the window |
| Heritage haveli or period house | 3 · Signature Luxury | Old-World Glamour | High ceilings swallow transparency; amber and woods hold their level |
| Plantation or garden bungalow | 2 · Fresh & Relaxing | Tea Garden | Green tea and jasmine sit inside the landscape rather than over it |
| Double-height city loft | 3 · Signature Luxury | Lobby Bar | Volume above nose level needs density and a peppery lift |
| Family villa, longer stays | 3 · Signature Luxury | Warm Welcome | The friendliest of the seven — a lit room rather than a lobby |
| Business-traveller service flat | 2 · Fresh & Relaxing | Quiet Luxury | Short stays, unknown occupants, maximum restraint |
| Studio or 1RK under ~300 sq ft | None — do not buy a Vaayu | A reed diffuser from ₹749 | Too little volume; ₹11,999 here is an overpayment, not a signature |
| The honest caveat: this map is composer's judgement about how each register behaves in a given volume, not a measurement, and your building may disagree with it. The three combos are fixed at checkout and cannot be mixed. SOSA does not currently sell a separate Vaayu refill oil — the 400ml in the box is the whole supply today, and the water-based Hotel Collection for ultrasonic machines is a different product that must never be put in a Vaayu. Nothing in this table is a claim about ratings, reviews, bookings or occupancy, and nothing here is a health or air-quality claim. | |||

Part three — running one scent from a set of four, and when this is the wrong answer
Here is the practical problem nobody mentions at checkout. You have decided on a signature — one fragrance, held — and the machine has arrived with four bottles of 100ml. The published specification is a 400ml tank and 90+ days per fill, which is arithmetic worth doing rather than assuming. Four hundred millilitres across ninety days is a little under four and a half millilitres a day at whatever run pattern that figure was measured on; on the same rate, a single 100ml bottle of your chosen signature is roughly three weeks. SOSA does not publish the run-hours assumption behind the 90-day figure, so treat every number in that sentence as arithmetic on two published specifications rather than as a measurement. What it tells you directionally is real, though: if you run the machine continuously, one fragrance does not last a quarter. Run it on a 4h timer around arrivals rather than 24h and the same bottle stretches considerably further, which for most listings is both cheaper and better — a guest wants a scented arrival, not a scented month.
That leads directly to the honest weak point of this purchase, and I would rather you heard it here than in month four. SOSA does not currently sell a separate Vaayu refill oil. The 400ml in the box is the supply available at the time of writing. The water-based Hotel Collection at ₹299 for 15ml, ₹999 for 100ml and ₹1,799 for 300ml is a different product, formulated for ultrasonic machines, and it must not be put into a Vaayu whatever the shared scent names suggest — the machine nebulises undiluted oil and a water-based fragrance is not that. Reed oil goes in neither. If you are planning a signature meant to run for years, ask SOSA where refills stand before you spend ₹11,999, and plan your run hours around the 400ml you will actually have. On the electricity side the arithmetic is friendlier: at 5W, twenty-four hours is 0.12 units, which at a notional ₹8 per unit is under a rupee a day — again arithmetic on a published rating, not a bill, and tariffs vary by state.
When this page is the wrong answer. If your listing is a studio, a single let room, or anything under roughly 300 sq ft of connected space, the fragrance question is real but the machine question is not: buy a reed diffuser from ₹749 or a Boond at ₹899 and put the ₹11,000 you saved into the mattress. If your property is pet-friendly, marketed fragrance-free, or handled by a rotating cleaning agency you cannot direct, then no combo is the right combo. And if what you specifically want is oud, we do not make it — there is no oud, no musk-forward composition and nothing aquatic anywhere in the SOSA range, and I would rather name the gap than sell you a cedar and hope you settle.
Part four — by the machine you already own
Most hosts arrive at this page owning something already. This is what to buy for each, and where the honest limit of each sits.
| What you own | What to buy for it | What it will and will not do | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| A Vaayu ★ | Nothing further — the combo chosen at checkout is the supply | Up to 1000m³. No separate refill oil is sold at present | ₹11,999 including 400ml |
| A Sukoon | Water-based Hotel Collection, 15ml / 100ml / 300ml | 270–320 sq ft, 16–18 hrs on low. Adds a little humidity | ₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799 |
| A Boond | The same water-based Hotel Collection, 15ml is plenty | ~150 sq ft, ~6 hrs a fill. An arrival, not a property | ₹899 + ₹299 |
| A Megh | The same water-based Hotel Collection | ~100 hrs runtime but only ~215 sq ft — a runtime and humidity machine, and it covers less than a Sukoon | ₹3,499 + fragrance |
| Reed diffusers | Oil-only refills, or a second bottle | Constant and passive; cannot be switched off or scheduled | ₹2,399 / 300ml · ₹3,499 / 500ml |
| Nothing yet, one room | A Sukoon, which arrives with three 15ml scents | The most sensible first purchase for a small listing | ₹1,899 |
| Nothing yet, whole floor | A Vaayu, combo chosen by property type | Ask about refill availability before committing | ₹11,999 |
Versailles
The question I am asked is always "which one smells best", and the question I want to answer is "which one will your building not fight". Those are not the same, and the gap between them is where most disappointed purchases live. A composition is not a fixed object; it is a set of materials evaporating into a particular volume of a particular air. Change the ceiling height and you have changed the fragrance, even though the bottle is identical.
The clearest example I know is a host in Jaipur with a haveli and a friend in Bandra with a two-bedroom flat. They bought the same combo, ran the same fragrance, and one of them thought it was beautiful while the other thought it did nothing. Neither was wrong. Fourteen feet of ceiling takes a transparent white tea straight up and away, and there is no setting that fixes that — only a denser composition does.
I will repeat the supply note once more because it is the thing I would most want to be told if I were buying. The Vaayu arrives with 400ml and we do not currently sell a refill for it. Ask us where that stands before you commit, and plan your run hours accordingly — a four-hour daily schedule around arrivals is better hospitality than a machine running all month, and it makes what you have go a great deal further. Everything we make is composed in Pune or built in India, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.
