This is the sizing reference for the whole section: the conversion table from square feet to cubic metres at both common ceiling heights, the subtraction almost nobody does, and an honest match from your final number to a machine - in both directions, including the sizes where we would tell you to spend less. Do the arithmetic once with this page open and every product comparison you make afterwards becomes an honest one.
Quick answers — read this first
How do I convert my villa's size into the coverage number a machine is rated in? Floor area multiplied by ceiling height gives cubic feet, and cubic feet divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres. At a standard 10 ft ceiling: 1,500 sq ft is 15,000 cubic feet or about 425 cubic metres, 2,000 sq ft is 20,000 or about 566, 2,500 sq ft is 25,000 or about 708, 3,000 sq ft is 30,000 or about 850, and 4,000 sq ft is 40,000 or about 1,133. At a 12 ft ceiling the same areas come to about 510, 680, 850, 1,020 and 1,360 cubic metres. The SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is rated at approximately 1000 cubic metres, which corresponds to roughly 3,500 sq ft of genuinely connected space at a 10 ft ceiling.

Why is a coverage rating not the same as my house size? Because a coverage rating describes one connected volume of freely circulating air, and a villa is a connected volume plus a set of sealed boxes with doors on them. No machine at any price pushes fragrance through a closed bedroom door. So the number to compare against any rating is the connected living volume only - entrance, living, dining, passage and stair void - which is typically 600 to 700 sq ft in a 1,500 sq ft house, 800 to 1,000 in a 2,000, 1,000 to 1,200 in a 2,500, 1,100 to 1,500 in a 3,000 and 1,600 to 2,000 even in a 4,000. That is why one machine plus a reed from Rs 749 per closed room beats two machines in almost every villa.

Which SOSA system matches which number? Under roughly 200 cubic metres of connected air and a single room, a Megh 6L at Rs 3,499 with the water-based Hotel Collection from Rs 299 is often enough, and a reed from Rs 749 covers one enclosed room with no power at all. From roughly 200 to 1,000 cubic metres of connected air, the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is the answer: waterless cold-air nebulising, Bluetooth app and timer, four hotel-inspired waterless blends included in the box. Past approximately 1000 cubic metres of connected air, or whenever the requirement is every room regardless of doors, the ducted Aangan at Rs 25,999 covers approximately 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft through central air-conditioning and Meenar at Rs 38,500 covers approximately 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft.
The short answer
Short answer: The sizing reference. Convert: floor area x ceiling height = cubic feet; cubic feet / 35.3 = cubic metres. At 10 ft - 1,500 sq ft is about 425 cubic metres, 2,000 about 566, 2,500 about 708, 3,000 about 850, 4,000 about 1,133. At 12 ft - about 510, 680, 850, 1,020 and 1,360. Then subtract every room whose door is usually shut, because a rating assumes one connected volume: the connected part is usually 600-700 sq ft at 1,500, 800-1,000 at 2,000, 1,000-1,200 at 2,500, 1,100-1,500 at 3,000 and 1,600-2,000 at 4,000. Match: reeds from Rs 749 per closed room, Megh Rs 3,499 for one big room, Vaayu Rs 11,999 for a connected volume up to approximately 1000 cubic metres (roughly 3,500 sq ft connected at a 10 ft ceiling, four hotel-inspired blends included), Aangan Rs 25,999 ducted for whole-home. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, four hotel-inspired blends included in the box) for the connected living volume of a villa; reeds from ₹749 for a single bedroom or bathroom; a single room done properly from ₹899; the Aangan (₹25,999) ducted into central air-conditioning for genuine whole-home coverage.

A villa is not one room, it is a set of connected volumes and a set of closed doors, and the two need different answers. Whole-home scenting means one fragrance held evenly across the part of the house you actually live in - the entrance, the living room, the dining - running on a schedule so it is already there when someone walks through your front door, and already there when you come home yourself. The bedrooms, the guest bathroom and the study get their own quiet solutions. Nobody in the house has to remember anything.
Straight answer
How do I size a scent machine for a villa - the conversion, the subtraction and the match?
Three steps and a table, and you can do all of it this afternoon. 1. Convert. Floor area x ceiling height = cubic feet; cubic feet / 35.3 = cubic metres. At a 10 ft ceiling: 1,500 sq ft = 15,000 cu ft = about 425m³; 2,000 = 20,000 = about 566m³; 2,500 = 25,000 = about 708m³; 3,000 = 30,000 = about 850m³; 4,000 = 40,000 = about 1,133m³. At a 12 ft ceiling: 1,500 = 18,000 = about 510m³; 2,000 = 24,000 = about 680m³; 2,500 = 30,000 = about 850m³; 3,000 = 36,000 = about 1,020m³; 4,000 = 48,000 = about 1,360m³. Count a double-height room at its real height: 600 sq ft at 20 ft is 12,000 cu ft, about 340m³ on its own. 2. Subtract. A rating assumes one connected volume of air and no machine pushes scent through a shut door, so count only the entrance, living, dining, passage and stair void. Typical connected areas: 600-700 sq ft at 1,500; 800-1,000 at 2,000; 1,000-1,200 at 2,500; 1,100-1,500 at 3,000; 1,600-2,000 at 4,000. 3. Match. One enclosed room: a reed from ₹749 or a Boond ₹899. One large living room: a Megh 6L ₹3,499 with the water-based Hotel Collection ₹299. A connected volume up to approximately 1000m³, which is roughly 3,500 sq ft connected at a 10 ft ceiling: the SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999, waterless, app and timer, four hotel-inspired waterless blends in the box. Past that, or when every room must be covered regardless of doors: the ducted Aangan ₹25,999 for approximately 8,000-10,000 sq ft, Meenar ₹38,500 for approximately 12,000-18,000 sq ft. Ventilate and clean first. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with your numbers. Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: area x height = cubic feet, / 35.3 = cubic metres, then subtract every shut door - and match the remainder to a ₹749 reed, a ₹3,499 Megh, the ₹11,999 Vaayu up to ~1000m³, or the ducted ₹25,999 Aangan. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
The whole-home answer most villa owners land on: the SOSA Vaayu - waterless cold-air scenting to ~1000m³, Bluetooth app and timer, and four hotel-inspired blends included in the box - at ₹11,999. One bedroom or a guest bathroom starts on reeds from ₹749; a single room done properly from ₹899; central air-conditioning from ₹25,999. The conversion table, the subtraction, and the match

The table, the subtraction that changes the answer, and an honest match in both directions.

Why this works at home
Sizing a villa properly, in four steps
1Convert: area x ceiling height = cubic feet, then divide by 35.32Count tall rooms at their real height - 600 sq ft at 20 ft is about 340m33Subtract every room whose door is shut; a rating assumes connected air4Match the remainder: reed Rs 749, Megh Rs 3,499, Vaayu Rs 11,999, Aangan
The whole-home answer: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 - waterless, app-scheduled, ~1000m³, and it arrives with four hotel-inspired blends in the box. A single bedroom or guest bathroom starts on reeds from ₹749.
1
Step one
The conversion table, at both ceiling heights
Machines are rated in cubic metres and houses are sold in square feet, and the gap between those two units is where most bad purchases happen. The conversion is simple enough to do standing in the room: floor area multiplied by ceiling height gives cubic feet, and cubic feet divided by 35.3 gives cubic metres. At a standard 10 ft ceiling: 1,500 sq ft is 15,000 cubic feet, about 425m³; 2,000 sq ft is 20,000 cubic feet, about 566m³; 2,500 sq ft is 25,000 cubic feet, about 708m³; 3,000 sq ft is 30,000 cubic feet, about 850m³; and 4,000 sq ft is 40,000 cubic feet, about 1,133m³. At a 12 ft ceiling the same floor areas become about 510m³, 680m³, 850m³, 1,020m³ and 1,360m³ - note that 2,500 sq ft at 12 ft carries exactly the same load as 3,000 sq ft at 10 ft, which is the clearest proof that height matters as much as area. Tall rooms count at their real height, not the house average: a 600 sq ft double-height living room at 20 ft is 12,000 cubic feet, about 340m³ on its own, the same as roughly 1,200 sq ft of ordinary house. Against all of this, the Vaayu's approximately 1000m³ corresponds to roughly 3,500 sq ft of connected space at a 10 ft ceiling.
Tip: a house sold as 2,500 sq ft with 12 ft ceilings is the same air as one sold as 3,000 with 10 ft. The sale deed does not tell you that; the arithmetic does.
2
Step two
The subtraction that changes every answer
Now do the part that almost no page does. A coverage rating describes one connected body of freely circulating air, and your villa is not that. It is a connected living volume plus a set of sealed boxes with doors on them, and no machine at any price pushes fragrance under a closed bedroom door. So walk the route a guest takes from the front door and count only what you passed through without opening anything: entrance, living room, dining, the passage between them, the stair void, and an open landing if you have one. In practice that connected part is far smaller than the sale-deed figure - typically 600 to 700 sq ft in a 1,500 sq ft house (about 170 to 198m³), 800 to 1,000 in a 2,000 (about 227 to 283m³), 1,000 to 1,200 in a 2,500 (about 283 to 340m³), 1,100 to 1,500 in a 3,000 (about 311 to 425m³) and 1,600 to 2,000 even in a 4,000 sq ft villa (about 453 to 566m³). This single subtraction is why one machine plus a small answer per closed room beats buying two machines in almost every Indian villa, and why a 4,000 sq ft house is not automatically a bigger purchase than a 2,500 sq ft one.
3
Step three
Matching the number to a rung, honestly in both directions
With one number in hand the shopping stops being guesswork. One enclosed room, no power, no upkeep: a reed diffuser from ₹749 - Morning Freshness ₹749, Garden Bloom ₹799 - which beats a machine beside a sleeping person. One room done properly: a Boond ₹899 or Sukoon ₹1,899 with the water-based Hotel Collection ₹299, or a Megh 6L ₹3,499 where the ground floor is genuinely one big living room - and if that is your house, we would rather you spent ₹3,499 than ₹11,999. A connected volume of roughly 200 to 1,000m³: the SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999, waterless cold-air nebulising with a Bluetooth app and timer and four hotel-inspired waterless blends in the box, which covers the great majority of Indian villas from 1,500 to 4,000 sq ft once the doors have been subtracted. Past approximately 1000m³ of connected air, or when every room must be covered regardless of doors: stop comparing machines and look at the ducted Aangan ₹25,999 for approximately 8,000-10,000 sq ft, or Meenar ₹38,500 for approximately 12,000-18,000 sq ft, both of which need central air-conditioning rather than split units. Keep the formats straight throughout: waterless blends for the Vaayu, the water-based Hotel Collection for ultrasonic tanks only.
Tip: the honest ladder runs in both directions. Some houses on this page should be spending ₹3,499, and we would rather say so than sell them a machine they will not use.
The SOSA principle
Two numbers decide everything: the volume of the air your house genuinely shares, and how many doors are shut when the guests arrive.
Convert with area x height / 35.3, subtract the sealed rooms, and match what is left. Everything else in this section is a footnote to that.

The SOSA home edit

Whatever the house looks like, the logic is the same: one scent, sized to the volume that is genuinely connected, running on a schedule so nobody in the family has to remember it. A single bedroom or a guest bathroom is happy on reeds with no power at all; the living room you actually live in wants a machine; the whole villa with central air-conditioning wants the ducts doing the work. Every SOSA system is made in India, cruelty-free and vegan, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is where each one belongs.

Honest notes before you buy anything. Coverage ratings assume connected air volume. A machine cannot push scent through a closed bedroom door, and it never will - so a partitioned villa is not one scenting problem but several, and honest sizing means saying so out loud rather than selling you one machine and hoping. Scent the volume that is genuinely open to itself, then give the closed rooms their own quiet answer, usually a reed diffuser. Fragrance never substitutes for ventilation or cleaning. If a room smells damp, stale or of last night's cooking, open it, air it and clean it first; scent added on top of that only makes a more complicated bad smell. A home is not a lobby you pass through. Households include children, elderly parents, pregnant family members and pets, all of whom breathe this air far longer than any visitor does, which is why gentle dosing is the default at home and why the settings we suggest are lower than the machine can run. Anyone in the house reporting a headache is a recalibration signal, not a complaint to argue with - turn it down or turn it off, and tell us. The Vaayu runs waterless nebulising oil and comes with the four hotel-inspired blends; the Hotel Collection bottle is water-based and belongs in the ultrasonic machines only. The two formats are not interchangeable. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house, not affiliated with or endorsed by any hotel brand. Ongoing fragrance supply for the Vaayu is arranged with us directly on WhatsApp: +91 96192 18531. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

ISIPCA
Versailles
A note from Sonal

There is a difference between a room that smells nice and a home that has a signature, and almost nobody is told what it is. A room that smells nice is an event: you light a candle, you spray something in the hallway before people arrive, it is lovely for forty minutes and then it is gone. Somewhere else in the house a bathroom gel is doing one thing, a kitchen spray another, and a bedroom reed a third. Four pleasant smells in four rooms is not a fragranced home. It is four rooms.

A signature is the opposite. It is one scent, sized to the house, running on a schedule - so it is already in the air when someone walks through your front door, and already there at eleven at night when you come home yourself, and nobody has lifted a finger to make it happen. That is the whole trick the great hotels use, and it is not complicated: they do not chase smells room by room, they hold one fragrance across the volume people actually move through. In a villa that usually means the entrance, the living room and the dining as one connected space, with the closed rooms handled separately and quietly.

I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and I have sized this for houses across India, and I would rather tell you honestly that your layout needs two answers than sell you one machine that disappoints you. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with your home's approximate size, the number of floors and a line about the layout - open plan, closed rooms, central air-conditioning or split units - and we will give you a free sizing recommendation. I read those descriptions myself. Everything is made in India, cruelty-free and vegan, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Your home gets a memory; a girl gets a classroom.

Frequently asked questions

What is the quickest honest way to size my own house?
Five minutes with a measuring tape and a phone. Walk from your front door to the dining table and note every door you had to open; everything you passed through freely is your connected volume. Add up that floor area only, multiply by your ceiling height in feet for cubic feet, divide by 35.3 for cubic metres, and count any double-height part at its real height rather than the house average. Compare the result to approximately 1000 cubic metres, which is what the Vaayu at Rs 11,999 is rated for, and you will almost certainly find you are well inside it. Then count the rooms you excluded, because each one needs a reed from Rs 749 or a Boond at Rs 899 of its own. If you would rather not do the arithmetic, send us the size, the number of floors and a line about the layout on WhatsApp and we will do it for you.
Does a bigger coverage rating mean a stronger smell in my house?
No, and this is the misunderstanding that ruins the most homes. Coverage and intensity are different things: a machine rated for a larger volume is built to hold a gentle even level across a big space, not to make a small space smell stronger. Running any machine hard in a room that does not need it is how you get a headache at the dinner table and a family that resents the whole idea. Buy for the volume, then set the intensity to the lowest level that survives someone walking in from outside, and leave it there. This matters more at home than anywhere else, because a household includes children, elderly parents, pregnant family members and pets who breathe this air for hours rather than passing through it, and because you will be nose-blind to your own house within days of installing anything.
How much does the whole house cost once the closed rooms are included?
It adds up from published prices, and it is less than most people assume. The connected volume takes one Vaayu at Rs 11,999, and because four hotel-inspired waterless blends come in the box there is nothing further to buy to start. Reeds are Rs 749 for Morning Freshness, Rs 799 for Garden Bloom or Evening Calm and Rs 849 for Mountain Breeze or Fresh Brew, so three bedrooms is Rs 2,247 and a house comes to Rs 14,246; four is Rs 2,996 and Rs 14,995; five rooms including bathrooms is Rs 3,745 and Rs 15,744. Swap any room to a Boond at Rs 899 with the water-based Hotel Collection at Rs 299 and that room is Rs 1,198. We do not publish ongoing fragrance consumption or a monthly running cost for the Vaayu, because that depends on your air volume, your schedule and your intensity setting - message us on WhatsApp for ongoing supply.
At what size does a Vaayu stop being the right answer?
In two situations rather than at one number. The first is when your connected volume genuinely exceeds approximately 1000 cubic metres - which at a 10 ft ceiling means more than roughly 3,500 sq ft of space with no doors between its parts, or less than that if your ceilings are tall. The second, and far more common, is when the actual requirement is every room scented regardless of whether doors are open, which no standalone machine at any price can do. Both point to the same place: the ducted Aangan at Rs 25,999, which nebulises into central air-conditioning ductwork and reaches approximately 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft including upper floors, or Meenar at Rs 38,500 for approximately 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft. Both require central air-conditioning rather than split units. Without ducts, the honest answer stays one machine on the shared air plus a reed behind each door.
Do I measure the whole plot or just the built-up area I live in?
Only the enclosed air you actually intend to scent, which is usually much less than any figure on your paperwork. Ignore the plot, ignore terraces, balconies, verandas and any covered outdoor area, because open air disperses fragrance faster than any machine can add it and scenting outdoors is not something we would recommend spending on. Ignore garages, stores, utility areas and staircases enclosed behind a door. Then, from the built-up area that remains, subtract every room whose door is normally shut. What is left - typically a third to a half of the built-up figure - is your connected living volume, and it is the only number that should ever be compared to a machine's coverage rating. If that sounds like a lot of subtracting, it is: it is also why most villas need one machine rather than three.

Facts verified August 2026: The SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebulising machine covering approximately 1000m³, with Bluetooth app and timer scheduling. It ships with four hotel-inspired waterless blends included in the box, chosen as one of three bundles at purchase: Bundle A - Ritz-Carlton Inspired, Westin Inspired, St. Regis Inspired, 1 Hotels Inspired; Bundle B - Westin Inspired, Shangri-La Inspired, Four Seasons Inspired, Ritz-Carlton Inspired; Bundle C - St. Regis Inspired, W Hotels Inspired, 1 Hotels Inspired, Four Seasons Inspired. Format distinction: the Vaayu and the HVAC systems run waterless nebulising oil, while the separate SOSA Hotel Collection fragrance (15ml ₹299) is water-based and runs in the ultrasonic machines only - Boond (₹899), Sukoon (₹1,899) and Megh (₹3,499). The two fragrance formats are not interchangeable, and the Hotel Collection bottle does not go into a Vaayu. SOSA Aangan (₹25,999) and SOSA Meenar (₹38,500) are HVAC nebulising systems for approximately 8,000-10,000 sq ft and 12,000-18,000 sq ft respectively, ducted into central air-conditioning. Reed diffusers need no power and make no noise: Morning Freshness ₹749, Garden Bloom ₹799, Evening Calm ₹799, Mountain Breeze ₹849, Fresh Brew ₹849; 130ml from ₹1,249; duo sets ₹1,498, ₹1,548 and ₹1,598. Scent perception is personal and varies between people in the same room, and coverage figures assume connected air volume rather than a partitioned floor plan. Ventilation, cleaning and air-conditioning come first; fragrance is an addition to a well-kept home and never a substitute for any of them. SOSA blends are SOSA's own hotel-inspired interpretations; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any hotel brand. Made in India, cruelty-free and vegan. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Ongoing fragrance supply is arranged with SOSA on WhatsApp: +91 96192 18531.
