There are two kinds of electronics store, and only one of them can have a signature fragrance. The first is merchandised: stock on the floor, price cards on every shelf, the layout decided by what arrived on Tuesday. The second is designed: rooms, a route, chosen light, stock behind a door. A signature fragrance signs an identity. A merchandised floor has none to sign, and no fragrance will give it one.
Quick answers — read this first
Should a premium electronics store have a signature fragrance? Only if the store is designed rather than merchandised. A designed store - living-room and study sets, a route through the floor, warm directional light, stock out of sight - has an identity, and one dry register held at one level for a year becomes part of that identity. A merchandised store - boxes on the floor, price cards on every shelf, a layout that follows deliveries - has no identity for a fragrance to sign, and a signature on it reads as a scented warehouse. The honest advice for that floor is to fix it first and spend nothing on fragrance.

What is the test for designed versus merchandised? Stand at the entrance and answer three questions. Can you see a stock carton from here? Is there a price card larger than the product it describes? Would a visitor know where to walk next without a sign? If the answers are yes, yes and no, the floor is merchandised, and the job is layout, light and stock discipline - none of which costs anything from SOSA. If the answers are no, no and yes, the floor is designed and a signature is worth setting up: one register, one machine, one locked level.

What does a signature look like on a designed electronics floor? One register - dry cedar, sage and tea on a dark floor of black glass and walnut, or a clean lemon and mint on a white one - on one SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 from about 1,500 sq ft of connected floor, waterless, on a timer with a key-lock so the level never drifts, held at the same setting for a year and reviewed once. A signature is a consistency discipline, not a scent. An interiors decision like lighting or music - SOSA makes no claim that it changes footfall, dwell time or sales, and no claim about what it does to any device.
The short answer
Short answer: only if the store is designed rather than merchandised. A designed floor has an identity - rooms, a route, chosen light, stock out of sight - and one dry register at one locked level for a year becomes part of it. A merchandised floor has no identity to sign; fix the floor first and spend nothing on fragrance.
The pick: for a designed floor, one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) for roughly 1,500-3,000 sq ft, key-locked at one level; one Mountain Breeze reed (₹849) at the desk for a designed studio; one SOSA Angaan (₹25,999) past about 3,000 sq ft. For a merchandised floor: nothing yet.
Next step: send three photographs from the entrance and a floor plan, and we will tell you honestly which kind of floor you have and whether a signature is worth setting up - ask for a showroom scenting plan.

Straight answer
Should a premium electronics store have a signature fragrance?
Only if the store is designed, and I want to draw the line between designed and merchandised carefully, because everything else on this page follows from which side of it your floor sits. A merchandised electronics store is one where the merchandise decides the room. Stock cartons are visible from the entrance, sometimes on the floor beside the display they contain. Price cards are the loudest graphic in the space, often larger than the product. The layout follows deliveries: the new range goes where the old one was, and the route a visitor walks was never chosen by anyone. The light is flat and cool because that is what the ceiling came with. The music is whatever the advisor put on. It is a perfectly good way to sell electronics, and most electronics in this country are sold this way, and it has no identity for a fragrance to sign. Put a signature scent into that room and the visitor's eye has already read warehouse; the nose then reads scented warehouse, which is worse, and the owner is paying every month for the difference. A designed electronics store is one where someone decided the room first and the merchandise was placed into it. A living-room set with a panel on the wall and a sofa in front of it. A study with a desk, a lamp and a laptop. A route that turns. Light a step warmer than the ceiling came with, and directional where it matters. Stock behind a door that closes. In a room like that the fragrance has something to join: the light, the route and the materials already say one thing, and a dry register held at one level for a year becomes the fourth voice saying it. That is a signature. Note what it is not: it is not a special scent. Whether an appliance experience centre should have a signature makes the point for the cluster and it holds here - a signature is a consistency discipline, not a fragrance. The register on a designed electronics floor is the same well-kept-home family as every good showroom: dry cedar, sage, a little tea, a clean mineral note - Mountain Breeze - on black glass, walnut and matte panels; lemon and mint - Morning Freshness - on a white, daylit floor. What makes it a signature is that it is the same on the fourth visit as the first, at the same level, from the same wall, and the only product that guarantees that on a floor with many hands is one with a timer and a key-lock: one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 from about 1,500 sq ft of connected floor, waterless so it adds no moisture and leaves no residue, set low for a hard-surfaced floor and locked; past about 3,000 sq ft one SOSA Angaan at ₹25,999; a Mountain Breeze reed at the desk of a designed studio, ₹849, held at three reeds for a year. The honest half of the page is the other one. If the test says merchandised - and it is a three-question test you can run from the entrance in a minute - the advice is to spend nothing on fragrance and fix the floor: stock behind a door, price cards down to the size of the product, one route, warmer light. How to make an electronics showroom feel less like a warehouse is the page for that floor, and it puts scent last for exactly this reason. Come back to a signature when the entrance test passes; the fragrance will not have changed, but the room it joins will. And the sentence every page carries: fragrance is an interiors decision like lighting or music. SOSA makes no claim that a signature changes footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, no claim about what it does to any device, screen or finish on display, and it is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or extraction. Any demo room or tasting zone stays unscented. Ask for a showroom scenting plan and send three photographs from the entrance; we will tell you which floor you have.
Only if the store is designed - rooms, a route, chosen light, stock out of sight. A merchandised floor of boxes and price cards has no identity for scent to sign; fix it first and spend nothing. If designed: one dry register on one Vaayu (Rs 11,999), locked at one level for a year. That consistency is the signature.
For a floor that passes the entrance test, one SOSA Vaayu - waterless, timer and key-lock - at ₹11,999 holds one register at one level for a year, which is what a signature is. For a floor that fails it, buy nothing yet.

What a designed floor signs its air with

Two honest answers by connected floor area - and both of them wait for the entrance test to pass. The images link to the product pages so every figure can be checked.

SOSA Vaayu
A designed floor from about 1,500 sq ft
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³ - about 2,000-3,000 sq ft - on one unit, Rs 11,999. On a signature floor it is bought for two features before its reach: the 1h/4h/8h/24h timer, so the register is present at the same hours every day, and the key-lock, so the level set with the team in month one is the level in month twelve. Adjustable intensity set low for glass and screens; under 38dB; no water, no residue; wall or HVAC mount.
From ₹11,999
SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
A designed studio under about 750 sq ft
SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
Himalayan pine, sage and Indian cedar - the driest register SOSA makes and the one that agrees with a study of walnut and black glass. Alcohol-free, six fibre reeds - hold it at three, and keep it at three, because a signature on a reed is a discipline of not adding sticks. 50ml Rs 849 lasts 6-8 weeks; 130ml Rs 1,349 lasts 14-18 weeks. Reaches one desk zone.
From ₹849
SOSA Vaayu
The machine a signature is held on
SOSA Vaayu Waterless Diffuser
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft) on a single unit, Rs 11,999, adjustable intensity, 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, key-lock. The same register from the same wall at the same level, every day, is what makes a fragrance a signature. CE, RoHS, SGS certified. Made in India.

The five questions that decide designed or merchandised

Five cards, and the first four are questions to ask standing at your own entrance. The fifth is what a signature actually is once the floor has earned one.

1
Stock
Can you see a carton from the door?
The first question is the simplest and it decides most floors on its own. Stand at the entrance and look for a stock carton - the brown box a panel or a speaker arrived in, on the floor beside the display, on a top shelf, in a corner behind a plant. If you can see one, the floor is merchandised, and the visitor's eye has read warehouse before their nose has been consulted. This is also the smell that most electronics floors actually have, because cardboard in quantity is dry, papery and faintly sweet, and the electronics-store smell is mostly cardboard and plastic. A signature fragrance over that is a third smell and a monthly cost. The fix is a door that closes and a rule that nothing in a box is on the floor. It costs nothing from SOSA, and it is the first layer of making the floor feel less like a warehouse.
Test: one visible carton from the entrance fails the floor. Fix that before anything is put in the air.
2
Price cards
Is the card louder than the product?
The second question is about what the eye reads first. On a merchandised floor the price card is the largest, brightest graphic in the room - a red starburst, a bold figure, a finance offer - and it is larger than the product it describes. That is the visual language of a discount store, whatever the products cost, and it cannot be argued with by the nose. A designed floor keeps the product larger than its label; the price is there, quiet, on a small card or a screen, and the room is allowed to be about the object. This is not a fragrance question and it is here because a signature cannot be signed onto a discount-store room. Bring the cards down to the size of the product, and the floor moves one step toward designed.
Rule: if the card is bigger than the product, the room is about the price, and no fragrance signs a price.
3
The route
Would a visitor know where to walk next without a sign?
The third question is about whether anyone chose the room. On a merchandised floor the layout follows deliveries and categories, and a visitor stands at the entrance not knowing whether to go left toward the panels or right toward the audio, so a sign tells them. On a designed floor the route was chosen - it turns, it passes a living-room set and then a study, it arrives at the desk - and the visitor walks it without being told. A route is also what a fragrance needs, because a register is carried by the building's air along the route and judged at its end. What customers should smell when they enter describes the first ninety seconds of that route; on a merchandised floor there is no route for those seconds to happen on. Give the floor a route, and the fragrance has somewhere to be.

On a designed studio, one Mountain Breeze reed at the desk, three sticks, held there for a year - that is a signature on a reed.

4
Light and stock discipline
Warmer, directional, and a door that closes - the two cheapest design moves
If the first three questions failed, this is the card that fixes them, and none of it is fragrance. Light one step warmer than the ceiling came with, and directional on the sets you want to read as rooms - the single largest visual change a floor can make for the least money. Stock behind a door that closes, unboxed in the back, and a rule that the floor never holds a carton. Price cards to the size of the product. One route, even if it is only a pair of sets and a turn. Do those four and run the entrance test again. Most floors pass in a month, and then a signature is worth talking about, because now there is a room for it to join. The order matters: making an appliance showroom smell more luxurious puts subtraction first for the same reason, and on an electronics floor subtraction is mostly cardboard and light.
Rule: warmer light and a closed stock door move a floor from merchandised to designed faster than any other two changes.
5
The signature
One register, one machine, one level, one year
Once the entrance test passes, a signature is simple and mostly consists of not changing things. One register, chosen by the floor's finishes - cedar and sage for black glass and walnut, lemon and mint for white - and never swapped for a seasonal one, because a visitor who meets a different smell on the fourth visit has met a different shop. One machine on one wall, the reception side, high, away from the door and the returns. One level, set for the advisor who stands there nine hours and un-nameable from the demo table, then locked. One year before it is reviewed. The Vaayu is the product because the timer and the lock are the discipline made physical: the same hours, the same setting, a floor with a dozen hands unable to drift it. Choosing a signature scent for an appliance brand gives the five-step method; what fragrance fits high-end home technology names the register. The only product fact about the merchandise: the Vaayu is waterless, adds no moisture and leaves no residue. SOSA makes no claim beyond that about what any fragrance does to any device.
SOSA Vaayu
The Vaayu holds one register at one level from one wall for a year - the timer and the lock are what make it a signature.

The SOSA principle
A signature fragrance signs an identity the store already has: a designed electronics floor can carry one for a year on a locked machine, and a merchandised floor of boxes and price cards should fix itself first and spend nothing.
Run the entrance test. Stock visible, cards loud, no route - fix the floor. Rooms, a route, chosen light - one register, one machine, one level, locked.
SOSA Vaayu
For a floor that passes the entrance test: SOSA Vaayu, ₹11,999, waterless, timer and key-lock - one register at one level for a year, up to 1000m³ of connected floor.

Two floors, side by side: what a signature does on each

The same answer as a table. Each row is one thing a visitor meets; the two columns are what it does on a merchandised floor and on a designed one. Only the last row is where SOSA sells anything, and only in one column.

The SOSA test
The merchandised floor and the designed floor, one row at a time
What the visitor meets Merchandised floor - and designed floor
The entrance view
Merchandised: a carton, a starburst, a sign saying which way. Designed: a room, a route that turns, a product larger than its label. The eye decides here, before the nose.
The light
Merchandised: cool, flat, the ceiling as delivered. Designed: one step warmer, directional on the sets. The cheapest change with the largest effect, and it is not a fragrance.
The smell of the floor before any fragrance
Merchandised: cardboard, plastic, warm dust off the displays. Designed: nothing in particular, because stock is behind a door and the vents are on a rota. Only the second floor is ready.
A fragrance added
Merchandised: a scented warehouse, a third smell over cardboard, and a monthly cost with nothing to sign. Designed: a fourth voice saying what the light, the route and the materials already say.
SOSA VaayuThe signature itself
Merchandised: nothing yet - fix the floor. Designed: one register on one Vaayu, one level, locked, a year; a Mountain Breeze reed at three sticks for a studio. View →

Three sibling pages carry this further: how to make an electronics showroom feel less like a warehouse is the page for the merchandised floor and puts scent last in the order of layers, what fragrance fits a showroom selling high-end home technology names the register a designed floor signs with, and a premium sensory identity for a home-appliance store writes light, sound, touch, air and scent into the one standard a signature belongs to. SOSA makes no claim that any of this affects footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, and no claim about what fragrance does to any device on display.

SOSA Mountain Breeze Reed Diffuser
A signature on a reed, for a designed studio: one Mountain Breeze reed diffuser at the desk, three sticks, held at three for a year, ₹849 for 50ml.

A signature fragrance is a name written on something that already exists. If the floor is boxes and price cards, there is nothing there to sign - and I would rather tell you that than take the order.

The four 100ml bottles in the Vaayu box are the supply; confirm refill availability with SOSA before you plan on it. Fragrance here is an interiors decision like lighting or music, with no claim about footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, and no claim about what it does to any device, screen or finish. A note from Sonal

When an electronics owner asks me for a signature fragrance I ask to see the entrance before I answer, and I ask for a photograph rather than a description, because owners describe the store they meant to build. The photograph shows the one they have. If there is a carton in it, or a price starburst bigger than the panel beside it, or a sign telling visitors which way to walk, I say the same thing every time: not yet. Not because the fragrance would be wrong - I could choose the right one in a minute - but because there is nothing in that room for it to belong to. A signature signs something. Boxes are not something.

The floors that pass are always the ones where somebody decided the room first. A sofa in front of a panel. A desk with a lamp on it. A turn in the route. Light that someone chose. On those floors a dry register held at the same level from the same wall for a year becomes one more thing the room is saying, and that is the whole of what a signature is. The Vaayu is the machine for it because the timer and the lock are the discipline made physical - the same hours, the same setting, and a floor with a dozen advisors unable to nudge it. A Mountain Breeze reed at three sticks does the same job for a studio, provided nobody adds the fourth.

So the answer is honest either way. Designed: one register, one machine, one level, one year - a Vaayu at ₹11,999 from about 1,500 sq ft, an Angaan past 3,000. Merchandised: fix the floor, spend nothing on fragrance, and come back when the entrance test passes. And through both: no claim that a signature moves footfall, dwell time or sales, and no claim about what it does to any device on display. It is an interiors decision, like lighting or music. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

How do I tell whether my electronics store is designed or merchandised?
Stand at the entrance and ask three questions. Can you see a stock carton from here? Is any price card larger than the product it describes? Would a visitor know where to walk next without a sign? Yes, yes and no means merchandised: the layout follows deliveries and the eye reads warehouse before the nose is consulted. No, no and yes means designed: someone chose the room, the route and the light, and a signature fragrance has an identity to join.
What happens if I put a signature fragrance on a merchandised electronics floor anyway?
The visitor's eye has already read warehouse - cartons, starbursts, a grid - and the nose then reads scented warehouse, which is worse than a plain one. Cardboard and plastic are also the smell most merchandised floors actually have, so the fragrance becomes a third smell over them rather than a signature over nothing. The owner pays every month for that difference. The honest order is stock behind a door, cards down, one route, warmer light, and then the entrance test again.
Which two changes move an electronics floor from merchandised to designed fastest?
Light and a closed stock door. Light one step warmer than the ceiling came with, and directional on the sets you want to read as rooms, is the largest visual change for the least money. Stock unboxed in the back and never on the floor removes both the warehouse look and the cardboard smell at once. Add price cards down to the size of the product and one route that turns, and most floors pass the entrance test within a month.
Does a signature fragrance for an electronics store need a special or exclusive scent?
No. A signature is a consistency discipline, not a fragrance. The register is the same well-kept-home family as every good showroom - dry cedar, sage and tea on black glass and walnut, or lemon and mint on a white floor - and what makes it a signature is that it is the same on the fourth visit as the first, at the same level, from the same wall, for a year. A machine with a timer and a key-lock is what makes that true on a floor with many hands.
Will a signature scent make my electronics store more successful?
SOSA makes no such claim, and a supplier who offers you a figure is selling. A signature fragrance is an interiors decision, like the light you chose and the route you laid out; SOSA makes no claim that it changes footfall, dwell time, conversion or sales, and no claim about what it does to any device, screen or finish on display. The only product fact is that the Vaayu is waterless, adds no moisture and leaves no residue. It joins an identity; it does not create one.
