Does it need to be wall-mounted? No. It lies flat on a shelf as well as mounting on a wall or an HVAC return, so no drilling is required.
What does it use in power? DC 12V at 5W, which is a very small continuous draw.
Four things a flat owner worries about, answered with the spec sheet
Objection one is noise, and in a flat it is the right thing to worry about first. Apartments are acoustically tighter than houses: rooms are closer together, there is less soft furnishing to absorb sound in a new flat, and a hum in a corridor at eleven at night is noticeable in a way it would not be in a villa. The number is under thirty-eight decibels, which is the figure the product states, and in practice that is quiet enough that people stop registering it - quieter than a refrigerator in most kitchens. It is worth passing the number on rather than saying quiet, because quiet is what every product says and thirty-eight decibels is checkable. Objection two is whether it will bother anybody else, and in a flat that means two things: shared walls and shared corridors. On sound, thirty-eight decibels does not travel through a wall in any meaningful way. On scent, the honest answer is that a machine sized correctly for a flat and run at a sensible intensity scents the flat rather than the building - but that a machine run at maximum in a home that does not need it can push scent into a common corridor when the front door opens, which is precisely one of the reasons this shop keeps saying that intensity should start low and be raised rather than the reverse. That is not a limitation of the product; it is a consequence of using more output than the volume requires. The same logic applies to anybody sensitive in the household: adjustable intensity and scheduled run windows exist so that the scent can be dialled to the space and the people in it. Objection three is running cost, and the honest answer has two halves. The electrical half is small and specific: DC twelve volts at five watts. That is a very small continuous draw and it is the kind of figure worth quoting rather than describing, because it settles the question immediately. The consumable half cannot be stated as a single number, and this shop will not invent one - a four hundred millilitre tank lasts up to about seventy-five days on the product's stated figure, but consumption depends entirely on how many hours a day it runs and at what intensity, and a machine scheduled for four evening hours on a low setting is not the same product in refill terms as one running all day at maximum. Refills are one thousand and forty-nine rupees for a hundred grams and one thousand eight hundred and forty-nine for three hundred; anybody wanting a figure for their own flat should say the area, the hours and the strength they like on WhatsApp and get an answer for that case. Objection four is the wall, and it is the one that stops people unnecessarily. The machine does not have to be mounted. It lies flat on a shelf, and it also wall-mounts or fits on an HVAC return for anybody who wants that - the mounting is an option rather than a requirement. It is one hundred and sixty-five by eighty by two hundred and fifteen millimetres and weighs nine hundred grams, in black or white, so a shelf, a console, a sideboard or a media unit all work. For a rented flat, or for anybody who does not want to drill in a home they have just finished, that is the answer, and it is worth saying at the handover because the assumption that a machine means a hole in a wall is what makes people refuse one. Underneath all four sits the gate, and it is the same in every page of this cluster. The Vaayu is rated for up to a thousand cubic metres, which the product states as about two thousand to three thousand square feet. A large flat - a big four bedroom, a five bedroom, a duplex, or an open-plan apartment where living, dining and kitchen are one continuous volume - is inside that range and is exactly where a machine earns its price, because an open plan has no rooms to scent individually. A two or three bedroom flat of eleven hundred square feet is outside it, and there the honest gift is reed diffusers at seven hundred and forty-nine to one thousand three hundred and forty-nine rupees, or a duo set at one thousand four hundred and ninety-eight to two thousand five hundred and ninety-eight so two rooms differ. No answer to the four objections makes a machine correct for a flat that does not need one. Three more things that are specifically useful in a flat. It is waterless, so there is no tank to fill and no humidity added, which matters in a closed air-conditioned home in a humid city and is the reason many people abandon ultrasonic diffusers. It ships with four one hundred millilitre hotel-inspired oils included, so it works the evening it is opened and nothing has to be ordered. And it has an auto-stop and a key-lock, the second of which is genuinely useful in a home with children or staff coming and going. Placement in a flat follows the air conditioning rather than the furniture - in the path of the main circulation rather than tucked behind a sofa - and the first few weeks of a new flat should be open windows rather than fragrance, because paint, varnish and new joinery need airing and a flat airs more slowly than a villa. Fragrance is a finishing touch, never a fix.
Noise, neighbours, power, and whether it marks the wall
Four numbers, and one gate they do not override.
| Scent | Why it suits the mood |
|---|---|
| Noise · under 38 dB | Quieter than most refrigerators, and it does not travel through a shared wall. |
| Power · 5W | A very small continuous draw. The consumable depends on hours and intensity - ask for your case. |
| Wall · not required | Lies flat on a shelf. Mounting is an option for anybody who wants it. |
| The gate · over ~2,000 sq ft | No answer to the four makes a machine right for an 1,100 sq ft flat. |

Versailles
The Vaayu is the most expensive thing we make and we turn down more orders for it than for anything else in the range. Not because we do not want to sell it - because most homes do not need it. It covers up to a thousand cubic metres, roughly two to three thousand square feet, and that is a villa, a penthouse, a large open-plan flat or a house with a double-height room. An ordinary 2BHK is not that, and in an ordinary 2BHK a reed diffuser at seven hundred and forty-nine rupees does the job better than eleven thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine rupees of machine would. So the question we ask is never what somebody spent on their house. It is how many cubic metres of air are in it.
The second thing we say, and almost nobody expects it, is wait a few weeks. A brand-new home smells of paint, varnish, polish, cement and new wood, and those are not smells to cover - they need open windows and time, and they go on their own. Give the machine at the housewarming by all means, but tell them the scenting starts once the building has finished smelling of being built. It is the same rule we apply to a new car, for the same reason: adding fragrance to a smell that is fading anyway is how a good product gets blamed for a bad result.
Two honest limits. Reed diffusers do not fail in large homes, they simply do not reach - a diffuser on a console table scents the area around that console table, which is not a fault, it is physics, and several of them is a real alternative to one machine. And there are two machines above the Vaayu, the Angaan and the Meenar, which are HVAC units for showrooms and hotel floors rather than houses - so if a home is genuinely far beyond three thousand square feet, message us rather than assuming more money solves it.
