Day & Night duo ₹1,498
Fresh & Grounded duo ₹1,548
Oil refill 500ml ₹3,499
Morning Freshness ₹749
Evening Calm ₹799
Where it comes from. ₹1,498 + ₹3,499 = ₹4,997, covering roughly 36–48 weeks in both rooms — 8.3 to 11.1 months. ₹4,997 ÷ 11.1 ≈ ₹450; ₹4,997 ÷ 8.3 ≈ ₹602.
Two sources, not five. Buy per closed air space you actually sit in. In most 2BHKs that is the living-dining zone and one bedroom — the second bedroom, kitchen and bathroom rarely earn a continuous bottle.
The line people forget. Refills are oil only and replacement reeds are not sold separately, so set aside roughly ₹62 a month — one ₹749 bottle a year — to renew a set of fibre reeds.
2. Step one: how many sources. Count closed air spaces you sit still in, not rooms. In most 2BHKs that is two — the living-dining zone and the bedroom you use. Two sources, not four.
3. Step two: convert weeks properly. A month is 4.33 weeks. So 6–8 weeks is 1.385 to 1.846 months, and 14–18 weeks is 3.23 to 4.15 months. Most household budgets go wrong here, by rounding six weeks up to a month and a half.
4. Step three: the year-one purchase. Day & Night duo ₹1,498 gives 6–8 weeks in each of two rooms. A 500ml refill at ₹3,499 splits into 250ml a bottle — five more 50ml fills each, another 30–40 weeks. Total ₹1,498 + ₹3,499 = ₹4,997 for roughly 36–48 weeks, or 8.3–11.1 months. ₹4,997 ÷ 11.1 ≈ ₹450; ₹4,997 ÷ 8.3 ≈ ₹602; the middle, at 42 weeks, is ₹515.
5. Step four: the reed line nobody budgets for. Refills are oil only and replacement reeds are not sold separately. Set aside one ₹749 bottle a year purely to renew a set of fibre reeds: ₹749 ÷ 12 ≈ ₹62 a month. ₹515 rounds with it to about ₹520.
6. Year two is cheaper, by construction. You own the glass, so the year is one ₹3,499 refill across roughly 30–40 weeks of two-bottle running — 6.9 to 9.2 months — which is ₹380–₹507 a month, plus the ₹62 reed line. ₹442 to ₹569.
7. If your second bedroom is shut, halve it. One source is ₹799 + a ₹2,399 refill = ₹3,198 across 42–56 weeks, about ₹267 a month. Spend that instead and do not feel short-changed.

Part one — the three inputs the number is built from
A monthly figure is only as good as the three things it is built on: how many sources a flat needs, how long each one lasts converted into months rather than weeks, and what the second purchase costs. Get those three right and the arithmetic is trivial. Get the first one wrong and you will overspend by a factor of two for years.
Fresh & Grounded₹1,548 · 2 × 50mlA month is 4.33 weeks, so ₹749 ÷ 1.846 ≈ ₹406 a month at the long end and ₹749 ÷ 1.385 ≈ ₹541 at the short end for a single fresh 50ml — and a household that rounded eight weeks to "two months" would have budgeted ₹749 ÷ 2 ≈ ₹375 and come up short every cycle. For a 130ml at ₹1,249 the same conversion gives ₹1,249 ÷ 4.15 ≈ ₹301 and ₹1,249 ÷ 3.23 ≈ ₹387. These are ranges, not guarantees: a warm room finishes a bottle sooner because warmth raises the evaporation rate, and a humid month can lengthen it because humidity slows evaporation from the reed surface. The Fresh & Grounded duo at ₹1,548 converts the same way, ₹100 higher.Part two — the derivation, five ways of buying
The same 2BHK, bought for in five different ways, each converted to a monthly figure with the division shown. The starred row is the recommendation and the source of the ₹520. Note how far apart the top and bottom rows are: the way you buy matters more to this budget than which scent you choose.
| How you buy | What one cycle costs | Weeks it covers both rooms | The division | Monthly equivalent |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Duo now, 500ml refill after ★ | ₹1,498 + ₹3,499 = ₹4,997 | 36–48, both rooms | ₹4,997 ÷ 11.1 · ₹4,997 ÷ 8.3 | ₹450–₹602 · middle ₹515 |
| Two fresh 50ml every cycle, never refilling | ₹1,498 per cycle | 6–8 | ₹1,498 ÷ 1.846 · ₹1,498 ÷ 1.385 | ₹811–₹1,081 |
| Two fresh 130ml every cycle | ₹2,498 per cycle | 14–18 | ₹2,498 ÷ 4.15 · ₹2,498 ÷ 3.23 | ₹602–₹773 |
| Steady state, year two onward, oil only | ₹3,499 | 30–40, both rooms | ₹3,499 ÷ 9.2 · ₹3,499 ÷ 6.9 | ₹380–₹507 |
| The reed line, added to any row above | ₹749 once a year | One fresh set of six fibre reeds | ₹749 ÷ 12 | ₹62 |
| Three sources instead of two | Add one bottle and its oil | Same weeks, one more room | Steady state + ₹194–₹250 | ₹574–₹757 |
| The honest caveat: every rupee figure here is a SOSA price from the live store or arithmetic on one, with the division printed beside it. No competing product or brand is named, priced or rated anywhere on this page. Lifespans — 6–8 weeks for a 50ml, 14–18 for a 130ml, 8–11 months for a 300ml refill, 14–18 for a 500ml in a single bottle — are typical ranges rather than guarantees. Warmth raises the evaporation rate so a bottle finishes sooner in a hot room; high humidity slows evaporation from the reed surface, so a monsoon month can feel quieter while the bottle lasts longer; a draught from an AC, a fan or an open balcony does both harms at once, weakening the room and emptying the bottle early. Those are directions of effect, with no rate claimed. The two-bottle refill figures assume both bottles run simultaneously and that you have kept the vessels and the reeds. Reed count is the volume control and bottle size the duration control; a 130ml at six reeds fills the same room as a 50ml and simply does it for longer. There is no 100ml reed diffuser — the sizes are 50ml and 130ml. | ||||

Part three — when ₹520 is the wrong number for your flat
It is too high if you only genuinely occupy one space. Plenty of 2BHKs have a second bedroom that is a store room with a bed in it, and a bottle behind that door is a bottle scenting nobody. One source, refilled, is ₹799 + ₹2,399 = ₹3,198 across roughly 42–56 weeks — about ₹267 a month, and the flat will not feel worse, because you were never standing in the room the second bottle was serving. Move the single bottle if your habits move. A source in a room you are in beats two split between one occupied room and one empty one, and carrying it costs nothing.
It is too low if your 2BHK is really one large connected volume. If the living, dining and kitchen run together past roughly 250–300 sq ft with no door, that space wants two sources on its own and the bedroom is a third. Three sources in steady state is ₹574–₹757 a month by the table above. At that point it is worth asking what you actually want, because if the answer is scent on demand rather than continuous scent, a Sukoon at ₹1,899 — 270–320 sq ft, 16–18 hours on low, remote, steady/2H/4H timers, three 15ml Hotel Collection fragrances in the box — is a control purchase for exactly that room. It is not cheaper: the water-based fragrance is a consumable at 15ml ₹299, 100ml ₹999 or 300ml ₹1,799, and I publish no per-fill consumption rate for it, so I cannot give you a monthly running figure for a machine the way I can for a bottle.
And there are two things no monthly figure buys. The first is a kitchen or bathroom problem: a reed diffuser adds a fragrance alongside whatever is already in your air, and removes, neutralises and cleans nothing. Cooking smells are answered by the extractor, an open window for ten minutes and then shutting up — fragrance layered over live cooking makes a third smell nobody designed. A musty smell that returns after cleaning is telling you something is still wet, and I sell nothing that addresses that. The second is your own nose: you stop registering a constant in your own home, so the budget question and the "I cannot smell it" question are different questions, and the second is settled by walking in from outside rather than by spending more.
Part four — what to order, and what it works out at
Six versions of a 2BHK. Find the one that matches the doors you actually shut; the monthly figure in the last column is the one to put in your budget, not the price in the third.

| Large open living-dining, no internal door | Three | Fresh & Grounded duo ₹1,548 + one 50ml ₹799 | ₹2,347 of vessels, then oil at ₹194–₹250 a source | About ₹574–₹757 |

Versailles
Budget questions used to make me uncomfortable, because the truthful answer to "how much should I spend" is usually less than the person asking expects a founder to say. For a long time I answered them with ranges so wide that they were useless, which is its own kind of dishonesty.
What changed it was writing the conversion down. A month is 4.33 weeks; six weeks is 1.385 months. Once you insist on that one unglamorous division, the whole budget stops being an opinion. Two sources, two published lifespans, one refill price and a line for reeds, and the number falls out at about ₹520 whether or not I like it.
The part I am least comfortable printing is the reed line, because it exists to cover a gap in my own range. I do not sell replacement reeds separately, so once fibre reeds stop wicking you have to buy a whole bottle to get six new ones. That is a real inconvenience and it costs my customers ₹62 a month, so it belongs in the budget rather than in a footnote. Made in small batches in Pune, tested through 45°C heat and 85% humidity, and a part of every order funds a girl's classroom through Nanhi Kali.

A reed diffuser adds fragrance to a room. It does not clean, purify or filter air, remove or neutralise cooking, damp or smoke smells, reduce humidity, or change how anyone feels. A reed diffuser adds no moisture to the air; ultrasonic machines work by aerosolising water and therefore do. A persistent musty smell indicates moisture that needs finding and drying, and SOSA sells no dehumidifier or air purifier. Ventilate or extract first; add fragrance second. Evaporation rate rises with warmth and falls with humidity, and airflow carries scent away from the bottle — so performance varies with season, ventilation, ceiling height and room use; longevity figures are typical ranges, not guarantees. Not noticing a constant fragrance is ordinary olfactory adaptation; the reliable checks are leaving the room and returning, or asking someone who has just arrived. Strength figures are positions on SOSA’s own internal scale, not an industry standard. Fragrance oil is flammable — keep bottles away from open flame and out of direct sunlight, and out of reach of children and pets.
