Count doors, not square feet
Walk the flat and count the spaces you have to open something to enter. In a studio that is the main volume, plus a bathroom, plus perhaps a store. That count is your starting number of diffusers — usually one, because the store does not need scenting and the bathroom is optional.

Check the main volume against 320 sq ft

The SOSA principle

It is the single rule that scales from a 320 sq ft studio to a four-bedroom villa without ever changing.
Why square-foot maths misleads
Divide 400 sq ft by 300 and you get 1.33, which rounds to two, which is wrong. The error is treating fragrance like light — as though it falls off with distance and needs topping up. It does not behave that way indoors. Scented mist disperses into whatever air is available and reaches equilibrium, so the question is not how far it travels but how much air it has to fill and whether anything walls that air off.
That is why the same 400 sq ft needs one diffuser as a studio and three as a 2BHK. The floor area is identical; the number of separate air masses is not.
