Founder Diaries · Congratulations & Achievement Gifting Guides
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 12 min read Updated August 2026
A launch is the moment something private becomes public, and that is a bigger psychological event than the work that preceded it. Up to launch day the product is a hope that a group of people have been defending to each other. After launch day it is data, judged by strangers, in public, in real time - and the day after is famously one of the flattest in the whole cycle.
Quick answers — read this first
What should I give someone who just launched a product? Something for the week after rather than the day of - an attar at Rs 379 to Rs 399, a solid perfume at Rs 459 to Rs 549, a candle at Rs 379, or a reed diffuser at Rs 749.

Why the week after? Because launch day is noise and the day after is flat. The messages stop, the numbers start, and the person who made the call is alone with them.

Should I mention the numbers? No. Write about the work and the decision rather than the results, which may or may not be going well and are not yours to comment on.
The short answer
Short answer: A product launch converts private work into public, judgeable data, and the day after a launch is commonly flat - the congratulations stop, the numbers start, and the person who made the call is alone with them. A gift arriving in the week after rather than on launch day lands better: a 12ml alcohol-free attar at Rs 379 to Rs 399, a solid perfume at Rs 459 to Rs 549, a coconut-soy candle at Rs 379, or a reed diffuser at Rs 749 to Rs 849. Write about the work and the decision rather than the results, which are not yours to comment on.
The pick: a SOSA return gift - consumable, no shelf space, from ₹299 a head.
Bulk: 10 to 200+ pieces quoted on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. Rates are not published here.
Congratulations gifts - at a glanceNo ledger here - nobody owes anybody, so generosity costs them nothingEverybody congratulates for 48 hours, then it stops deadA first only happens once - the second one gets nothingFrom ₹299 · homes, cars, books, awards, goals
A congratulations gift is not settling a debt - nobody owes anybody here, which is why generosity creates no obligation in return. Its job is to mark what somebody did, ideally after the first two days when everybody else has already moved on. Workplace recipients may still fall under gift policies that cap what they can accept, so check before sending. Gifts start at Rs 299, and anything can be checked on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 first.
Straight answer
What should I give somebody who launched a new product?
Something for the week after, not the day of. Launch day is noise; the day after is the flat one, when the messages stop and the numbers start. The gift: a 12ml alcohol-free attar at ₹379 to ₹399 - undiluted oil, no alcohol carrier, usable in any meeting - or the Attar Trio at ₹1,055 where they choose. For a long build: a solid perfume at ₹459 to ₹549, the format that gets carried through something. Modest and legible: a coconut-soy candle at ₹379. For their own room: a reed diffuser at ₹749 to ₹849. And write about the work, not the numbers. Ask on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531.
Launch day is noise. The day after is the flat one. Aim there. From Rs 379.
If you want one answer for a mixed guest list: hanging car perfume from ₹449, because almost every adult guest drives and almost nobody has done anything about their car. Bulk quantities quoted on WhatsApp.

The day private work becomes public and judgeable

Two things about a launch determine what the gift should be, and both are about what happens after the event rather than at it. The first is the nature of the transition. Before a launch, a product exists inside a small group of people who have been defending it to each other for months - arguing about details, fixing things nobody else will ever see, deciding what to cut. It is a hope with a deadline attached. On launch day it stops being that and becomes an object in the world, which strangers use, compare, complain about and ignore, in public, immediately. Very few things in working life involve that kind of exposure. Whatever the outcome, the person who shipped it has just handed something they made to an audience that owes them no kindness, and that takes a specific kind of nerve that is almost never acknowledged because the conversation is always about how it is doing. The second is the shape of the days around it. Launch day itself is extremely busy and extremely loud: announcements, messages, things breaking, a team running on adrenaline. Then it stops. The day after a launch is one of the flattest days in any working cycle - the noise has gone, the numbers have started, and the person who made the call is sitting alone with a dashboard. That is where a gift should land, and it is why the usual advice in this cluster applies with extra force: hold it for a week or two. Congratulations arrive in a forty-eight hour burst and then stop dead; a gift arriving in the quiet is the only one in the room. There is one rule about what you say that matters more here than anywhere else in this category. Do not mention the numbers. A launch may be going brilliantly, or it may be going quietly, or it may be too early for anybody to tell, and none of those states is yours to comment on. Somebody asking how it is doing is asking a question the recipient may not want to answer and may not know the answer to. Write about the work instead: the months of it, the decision to ship rather than keep polishing, the version that got cut, the fact that they put something out at all when it would have been easier not to. That framing is true regardless of how the numbers look, which is precisely why it is the right one. On the workplace point: if the recipient is an employee rather than a founder, they may be covered by a gift policy that caps or requires declaration of what they can accept. In regulated industries, listed companies and multinationals this is strict and the recipient has no discretion. Keep it modest if you are unsure, prefer a home address to an office, and remember that their policy governs; nothing here is legal or compliance advice. Now the objects. An alcohol-free attar at three hundred and seventy-nine to three hundred and ninety-nine rupees is the best-suited thing in the shop for this recipient, for practical reasons. It is non-instrumental - which matters, because anybody who ships products owns every useful object already and will have chosen better than you can - and it works in the environment they live in: twelve millilitres of undiluted perfume oil in a glass roll-on with no alcohol carrier, so it does not spray or project. It opens quietly and stays within roughly an arm's length, which makes it usable in a shared office, before a meeting, or on a day full of calls. Adaa at three hundred and seventy-nine rupees is bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and white musk. Ameeri at three hundred and eighty-five is Taif rose with Indian sandalwood. Mastani at three hundred and eighty-nine is night jasmine and Damask rose. Nawaab at three hundred and ninety-nine is a white oud composition built with Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron rather than a dehn al oud distillate, which is worth saying plainly rather than letting the word carry unearned weight. The Attar Trio at one thousand and fifty-five rupees hands the choice over and is the reliable option where you do not know their taste. A solid perfume at four hundred and fifty-nine to five hundred and forty-nine rupees is the better fit where the build was long, because it is the format that gets carried through a stretch of work rather than displayed after it: fifteen grams of alcohol-free balm in a flat compact, applied with a finger, spill-proof, no cap to lose, six to eight hours, surviving months in a laptop bag. Titan at five hundred is Arabica coffee, roasted wood, black pepper, frankincense and leather. Sterling at four hundred and sixty-nine is coconut milk, almond nougat, white amber and powdered musk. Siren at four hundred and eighty-nine is black cherry, espresso, warm vanilla and cedar smoke. Velour at four hundred and seventy-nine is vanilla bean, butter biscuit, toasted almond and whipped cream. Beast at five hundred and forty-nine is smoked whiskey, roasted coffee, spicy leather, amber resin and vanilla bark. A coconut-soy candle at three hundred and seventy-nine rupees is the modest and entirely appropriate choice, particularly where a gift policy applies or where the relationship is professional rather than personal. It is legible on sight and needs no explaining: lead-free eco wick, phthalate-free, hand-poured in small batches in Pune, fifteen to eighteen hours, in Misty Mornings with Nilgiri orchid and sun-ripened nectarine, Bookshop with cedarwood, sage and lemon, Evening Walks with frankincense and tonka, or Cozy Corner with spiced pear and golden honey. Wax melts at four hundred and seventy-four rupees need a ceramic burner at five hundred and sixty-nine, so give both or neither. A reed diffuser at seven hundred and forty-nine to eight hundred and forty-nine rupees suits a home study or a room they actually work from, and its profile fits somebody with nothing left to give an object: a minute to set up, then nothing at all, running two to three months with no flame, no socket and no switch. Morning Freshness is seven hundred and forty-nine, Garden Bloom and Evening Calm seven hundred and ninety-nine, Mountain Breeze and Fresh Brew eight hundred and forty-nine, and Fresh Brew suits somebody whose working day runs on coffee. Reeds use their own alcohol-free reed oil drawn up rattan by capillary action, which is a separate system - reed oil never goes into a machine, and the water-based Hotel Collection concentrate at two hundred and ninety-nine rupees is ultrasonic-only at three to six drops per tank. If they want a machine, the Sukoon at one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine rupees is five hundred millilitres with a timer and is right for a room, and it should never be given with an empty tank. One final note on timing, since this is a category where people often ask. If the launch has gone badly, the gift still works, and arguably works better - because a gift about the work rather than the result is exactly the kind that survives a disappointing outcome. That is the whole reason to write it that way in the first place.

1
Private becomes public
A hope turns into data overnight
Before, it exists inside a small group defending it to each other. After, strangers use it, compare it, complain about it and ignore it, in public and immediately.
Tip: That takes a specific nerve, and nobody acknowledges it because the conversation is always about how it is doing.
2
The day after is flat
The noise stops and the dashboard starts
Launch day is announcements, messages and things breaking, on adrenaline. Then it ends, and the person who made the call is alone with the numbers.
3
Do not mention the numbers
They may not know yet either
It may be going brilliantly, quietly, or too early to tell, and none of those is yours to comment on. Asking how it is doing is asking a question they may not want.
Tip: Write about the work: the months, the decision to ship, the version that got cut.
The SOSA principle
A gift about the work rather than the result survives a disappointing outcome, which is precisely why it should be written that way before anybody knows.
They put something out at all, when it would have been easier not to. That sentence is true on any Tuesday after any launch.

For the week after, not the day of

Non-instrumental and quiet, for the week when everything has gone silent again.

They handed something they made to an audience that owes them no kindness. The conversation afterwards is only ever about how it performed.

A note from Sonal

There is a pattern I noticed years before we sold anything, and it is the reason this section exists. Somebody achieves something that took them years - the flat, the first car bought outright, the manuscript finished at last - and for about forty-eight hours the phone does not stop. Then it stops completely. The achievement took three years; the celebrating took a weekend, and then everybody went back to their own lives, which is not unkind, it is just how attention works.

Which means a gift arriving in week two or three lands in an empty field. That is the single most useful thing on any of these pages and it costs nothing. The second is that a congratulations gift is not repaying anything: nobody owes anybody here, so there is no ledger to balance and no risk of over-gifting into an obligation. You are free to be as generous as the relationship allows. And write the note about what they did, not about how you feel - name the four years, the thing they gave up, the draft they rewrote eleven times.

Two honest things. If somebody has just bought a new car, do not buy them something to cover the smell of it - most new owners like it, it fades on its own, and a fragrance is better introduced a few weeks later in a restrained register. And if somebody has bought a new home, size the gift to the home: our Vaayu is a waterless nebuliser built for spaces of roughly a thousand cubic metres, which is a hotel lobby rather than a three-bedroom flat, and we would rather tell you that than sell you one. Message us on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 with what they achieved and what their place is like, and we will say honestly if we think fragrance is the wrong call. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Frequently asked questions

What should I give somebody who launched a product?
Something quiet for the week after - an attar at Rs 379 to Rs 399, a solid perfume at Rs 459, a candle at Rs 379, or a reed diffuser at Rs 749.
Why not on launch day?
Launch day is noise and adrenaline. The day after is the flat one, when the messages stop and the numbers start, and that is where a gift does real work.
Should I ask how it is going?
Better not. It may be going brilliantly, quietly, or be too early to tell, and the question is one they may not want or be able to answer.
What if the launch went badly?
The gift still works, provided the note is about the work and the decision to ship rather than the result. That framing is true either way.
What if they work somewhere with gift rules?
Keep it modest, prefer a home address and check. Many employers cap or require declaration of gifts, strictly in regulated and listed companies.
A gift that marks what they did
