Why is floor count not a question? Because a floor is a unit of structure rather than air. Most floors contain sealed rooms and a walkway, so storey count does not predict what a home needs.
What serves the rest of the house? Reed diffusers: one per bedroom at the lightest level, one per bathroom, one on each landing, and one just inside the door of the floor people arrive on.
Three questions, and none of them is how many floors
This is a selector for multi-storey homes, and the first thing to notice is that the number of floors is not one of the questions. Storey count does not predict what a home needs, because a floor is a unit of structure rather than a unit of air, and most floors contain sealed rooms and a walkway rather than a body of connected air worth serving. Question one is which floor people actually live on, and it matters far more than it sounds. Almost all fragrance advice assumes the ground floor is the living floor - that you walk in at street level into a hall, with bedrooms above. In a great many Indian three-storey homes, particularly independent houses on narrow city plots, that is wrong. The ground floor is a service level: parking, a utility and washing area, a store, the staircase, sometimes a let room. The first floor is the actual living floor with the hall, dining and kitchen. The second is bedrooms. If that describes your house, two things follow immediately. The machine belongs on the first floor, because a machine on a service level is scenting a space nobody sits in, and covered parking cannot hold fragrance anyway since the air exchanges continuously with the street. And the entrance that matters is the door into the living floor rather than the street door, because the value of a threshold position comes from somebody arriving with an unadapted nose into a space people actually occupy. Everybody who lives in a home has adapted to its background within about an hour and perceives very little of it, which makes arrival the only moment anybody experiences the place properly - but that moment happens at the top of the stairs, not at the gate. Question two counts the floors that contain a living area people genuinely sit in. Usually the answer is one. Sometimes it is two, in a larger house with a hall below and a family lounge or open study above, and that genuinely justifies a second unit. It is almost never three, because one of the floors is nearly always a service level or a bedroom floor. Be strict about what counts: a bedroom is a sealed room behind a closed door that nothing crosses; a landing is somewhere people walk through rather than sit, and a machine placed there scents a walkway strongly while every room around it stays shut; a bedroom corridor is a passage with closed doors off it, which is the same failure at greater length. Question three settles which machine, and it is architectural rather than numerical. Walk the living floor at an ordinary hour of an ordinary day, changing nothing about how the house currently operates, and count the closed doors between the living area, the dining area and the stair landing on that level. Zero closed doors means one connected volume, and the Vaayu at Rs 11,999 qualifies - waterless, so there is nothing to fill before an evening or empty afterwards, with app and timer control so a daily cycle and a hosting cycle stay separate. A compact hall takes a Sukoon at Rs 1,799. A partly open arrangement takes a Megh at Rs 3,499 with its 6L tank. Two or more closed doors means that floor is compartmented, and no machine qualifies on it at all, in which case bottles serve the whole house better and that is our recommendation. Everything else in the house is answered with bottles, and that is what those rooms actually need rather than a compromise. One reed diffuser per bedroom, at the lightest level in the home and from a source the occupant can move, cap or take out of the room without asking anybody, because dwell time upstairs is long, everybody adapts within the hour, and a bedroom is a room somebody cannot leave. One per bathroom, which is the best value anywhere in home fragrance. One on each landing. And one just inside the door of the floor people actually arrive on. Two standing rules for any multi-storey home. Use one register on every floor, in every machine and every bottle, because something moves between floors most of the time - a stairwell carries a trace whose direction changes with roof heat, air conditioning and open windows - and two registers meeting in that column produce a third nobody chose. And never place the machine at the foot of the stairs: a stairwell is a continuous outflow, so a source beside it feeds the opening rather than the room you are sitting in, losing the level you paid for and gaining almost nothing above.
The multi-storey selector
The multi-storey selector. Question one, which floor people actually live on: if the ground floor is parking, utility and stores it takes nothing at all, and the machine belongs on the hall floor - with the entrance source at the door into that floor rather than the street door, since arrival into a space people occupy is the only moment anybody perceives their own home. Question two, floors containing a living area people genuinely sit in: usually one, sometimes two where there is a hall below and a family lounge above, almost never three. Bedrooms, landings, bedroom corridors and service floors do not count. Question three, the closed-door walk on that living floor: zero doors between living area, dining and stair landing qualifies the SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 - waterless with no tank, coverage up to 1,000 m², Bluetooth app and timer control; a compact hall takes the SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,799; a partly open arrangement takes the SOSA Megh at Rs 3,499 with a 6L tank; two or more doors qualifies nothing. Everything else, answered with bottles and correctly so: one reed diffuser per bedroom at the lightest level in the home from a source the occupant can move, cap or take out without asking anybody; one per bathroom, the best value anywhere in home fragrance; one on each landing; and one just inside the arrival door, with a reed or the SOSA Boond at Rs 799 - Morning Freshness at Rs 749, Garden Bloom at Rs 799, Evening Calm at Rs 799, Fresh Brew at Rs 849, Mountain Breeze at Rs 849, three to four months per bottle, refills at Rs 2,399 for 300ml and Rs 3,499 for 500ml. Two standing rules: one register in every machine and every bottle on every floor, since two registers meeting in the stairwell produce a third nobody chose; and never place the machine at the foot of the stairs, since a stairwell is a continuous outflow that feeds on what you release. Fragrance for machines: Hotel Collection at Rs 299 for 15ml, Rs 999 for 100ml and Rs 1,799 for 300ml, at three to six drops per tank, rinsing between scents; it is not reed diffuser oil. Never scented: children's rooms, the kitchen at any time, the dining area during a meal, utility and store areas, covered parking, and terraces. Everything is alcohol-free and made to IFRA-compliant standards.
| Scent | Why it suits the mood |
|---|---|
| Which floor is lived on · ₹799 | Often not the ground. The entrance moves with it |
| Floors with a living area · ₹1,799 | Usually one. Two justifies a second machine |
| Closed doors there · ₹11,999 | Zero qualifies the largest. Two or more qualifies nothing |
| Everything else · from ₹749 | Bottles. Bedrooms, bathrooms, landings, arrival door |

Versailles
Most customer gifts are bought to be handed over, not to be kept: the sweet box is finished by the family that evening, the keychain joins a drawer, the branded pen was never really a gift at all. Then the moment that cost your business lakhs to create - the new car, the new home, the big purchase - is remembered with nothing. A fragrance gift keeps that moment alive, because scent is the sense wired closest to memory: months later, your customer is still in the middle of the experience you gave them.
I trained at ISIPCA in Versailles and everything we make is built for Indian lives - car diffusers that survive a Mumbai summer, reed diffusers that hold through the monsoon, alcohol-free formulas safe to gift across every customer profile. If you run a dealership, a project, a hotel, a showroom or a team, message the bulk desk on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531 - tell me the customer moment and the volumes, and I will help you design the programme myself. The business conversations are my favourite kind: one good gifting programme teaches me more about a category than a year of retail orders.
And a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali - so your customer gift quietly gives twice. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Facts verified August 2026: Olfactory memory research shows scent-linked memories are unusually durable and emotionally vivid, which is why a used-daily fragrance gift sustains brand association in a way consumable or novelty gifts do not; customer-experience research consistently finds that peak moments (delivery, possession, checkout) disproportionately shape how the whole purchase is remembered. Fragrance preference is personal: volume gifting programmes should default to gentle fresh, green and lightly floral registers, and to space formats (diffusers, reeds, car fragrance) rather than skin perfume. SOSA range: Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance from Rs 299; car perfumes from Rs 449 (spray and hanging, alcohol-free); attars Nawaab, Ameeri, Mastani and Adaa from Rs 379 (3ml/6ml/12ml, alcohol-free); Attar Trio from Rs 1,055; perfumes from Rs 499; reed diffusers from Rs 749; Boond Rs 799, Sukoon Rs 1,799 and Megh Rs 3,499 ultrasonic diffusers; SOSA Safar waterless car and travel diffuser Rs 3,999 (rechargeable, three hotel-inspired scents included); SOSA Vaayu waterless scent machine Rs 11,999 (~1000m³, app + timer).
