This is the page where one machine stops being enough, and I would rather say so than sell you an optimistic coverage figure. Five thousand square feet across two floors at a 10 ft ceiling is about 465 square metres and roughly 1,400 cubic metres — which is past the Vaayu's 1000 m³ rating, and then divided again by a staircase. A villa is not a large apartment. It is two properties stacked on each other, joined by a vertical shaft that moves warm air upward and carries whatever is in it unevenly along the way. There are three real answers here, they cost ₹11,999, ₹23,998 and ₹25,999, and the most expensive one is right least often.
Quick answers — read this first
The arithmetic: 5,000 sq ft ÷ 10.76 = 465 m², × 3 m for a 10 ft ceiling = roughly 1,400 m³. That is past a single Vaayu's 1000 m³ rating before you account for the floors being separate.

The answer most of the time: two Vaayu units at ₹23,998, one per floor — entrance hall and upper landing. It covers the volume, it treats each floor as the volume it actually is, and it is ₹2,001 cheaper than one Aangan.

When the Aangan is right: one Aangan at ₹25,999 if the villa has ducted air conditioning the machine can be mounted into. Then the building's own airflow does the distribution and every room shares one source.

The legitimate cheap answer: one Vaayu at ₹11,999 in the entrance hall, accepting a lighter upper floor. At most viewings the ground floor is what sells the house.
The short answer
Short answer: two Vaayu units at ₹23,998, one per floor. Five thousand square feet over two storeys is roughly 1,400 m³ against a 1000 m³ rating per machine, and a staircase splits it into two volumes rather than one. One machine per floor covers the air and respects the division. It also costs less than a single Aangan.
The pick: two Vaayu at ₹23,998 for most villas; one Aangan at ₹25,999 only where there is ducted air conditioning to mount it into; one Vaayu at ₹11,999 in the entrance hall if the budget is fixed and you accept a lighter first floor. Register unchanged: the Ritz-Carlton-inspired Quiet Luxury, or the 1 Hotels-inspired Forest Suite in a warm coastal villa.
Shop: the Vaayu ₹11,999 — waterless, up to 1000 m³, 400ml for about 75 days, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, under 38 dB, auto-stop, key-lock, 0.9 kg, freestanding or wall-mounted. Two units ₹23,998. The Aangan ₹25,999 — up to 3,000 m³, 800ml, HVAC-connected or standalone, programmable schedules, under 42 dB. Hotel Collection 15ml ₹299. Free shipping above ₹499.
Straight answer
What is the best way to fragrance a 5,000 sq ft luxury villa during a property viewing?
1. Do the volume sum and accept what it tells you. Five thousand square feet ÷ 10.76 = 465 m². At a 10 ft ceiling, about 3 m, that is roughly 1,400 cubic metres. A single Vaayu is rated to 1000 m³. This is the first property in this group where one machine is not enough on the numbers alone, before geometry is even discussed.

2. Then count the floors as separate volumes, because they are. A staircase joins two storeys but it does not make them one circulating space in any useful sense. Warm air rises through it continuously and carries scent upward unevenly — more to the landing, less to the far bedrooms, and almost nothing back down.

3. The answer most of the time is two Vaayu units at ₹23,998, one per floor. Entrance hall downstairs, upper landing upstairs, both on low, both running the same scent. It covers roughly 1,400 m³ with headroom, it treats each floor as the volume it is, and it is ₹2,001 cheaper than one Aangan.

4. Buy the Aangan at ₹25,999 only if the villa has ducted air conditioning. Mounted into ductwork, one machine covering up to 3,000 m³ uses the building's own airflow to distribute, and every room in the house shares one source. Standing on the floor of a hall in a villa cooled by split units, it is a large machine with no distribution system.

5. And one Vaayu at ₹11,999 downstairs is a legitimate choice, not a failure. If the budget is fixed, put it in the entrance hall and accept that the upper floor reads lighter. At most villa viewings the arrival, the hall, the living volume and the garden view are what sell the house.

6. Before any of that: the villa's own preparation. Traps, cross-ventilation, the servant's block, the utility yard, the pump room, the pool plant. A villa has more sources than a flat and they are further from where you stand. Anything structural is a material fact to fix or disclose, never to scent over.

TL;DR: 5,000 sq ft over two floors at a 10 ft ceiling is about 465 m² and roughly 1,400 m³ — past a single Vaayu's 1000 m³ rating and split again by a staircase. Two machines at ₹23,998, one per floor, is the answer most of the time and is cheaper than one Aangan at ₹25,999, which earns its place only where there is ducted air conditioning to mount it into.
SOSA Vaayu · one per floor
Two machines at ₹23,998, and why that beats one bigger one
SOSA Vaayu · one per floor ₹11,999 each
Five thousand square feet over two floors at 10 ft is about 465 m² and roughly 1,400 m³, which is past the Vaayu's 1000 m³ rating and split by a staircase into two problems rather than one. Two units at ₹23,998 — one in the entrance hall, one on the upper landing — is the answer for most villas, and it is ₹2,001 cheaper than a single Aangan. It also survives the villa being sold: two portable machines redeploy to two listings, which one large HVAC-mounted unit does not. 0.9 kg each, key-locked, auto-stop, under 38 dB, and no water anywhere near a wooden staircase.

Two floors, one staircase, and 1,400 cubic metres

Everything written about scenting a large apartment stops being reliable the moment the property acquires a second storey, and the reason is that a floor is a much more serious barrier than a wall. Air crosses a doorway easily and crosses a slab not at all. The only connection between the two halves of a villa is the stairwell, and a stairwell does not mix two floors together — it moves air one way, upward, continuously, driven by nothing more complicated than the fact that warm air is lighter than cool air. So a 5,000 sq ft villa is two volumes with a one-way link between them, and the honest arithmetic has to be done twice.

1
THE NUMBER
1,400 cubic metres, which is past what one machine is rated for
Start with the sum, done properly and in the open. Five thousand square feet divided by 10.76 is 464.7 square metres. At a 10 ft ceiling of about 3 metres that is roughly 1,394 cubic metres — call it 1,400. A single Vaayu at ₹11,999 is rated up to 1000 m³. So for the first time in this group the capacity question does not resolve in one machine's favour: you are asking for 40 per cent more air than the machine is built to supply, and no amount of good placement fixes a shortfall of that size. And villas rarely stop at 10 ft. A 12 ft ground-floor ceiling, which is common in anything recent, takes the downstairs volume up by a fifth on its own; a double-height entrance or living void adds a large block of air that appears nowhere in the floor area at all. Do the sum floor by floor rather than for the house as a whole — ground floor area × ground floor height, upper floor area × upper floor height, and the stair void counted once with the ground floor. Two thousand seven hundred square feet downstairs at 11 ft is about 840 m³; 2,300 upstairs at 10 ft is about 640 m³. That is two numbers, each of which one machine can hold comfortably, which is the actual shape of the answer. It is also why the answer is two machines rather than one bigger one: the problem is not that you need 1,400 m³ of capacity in one place, it is that you need it in two places that do not share air.
2
THE STAIRCASE
A one-way link, not a connection
Then the thing that decides the arrangement. A staircase is the only air path between the floors of a villa, and it works in one direction. Warm air rises, cool air sinks, and a stairwell is a vertical shaft with a temperature difference across it, so there is an upward current in it for most of the day in most Indian houses — stronger in the afternoon when the ground floor has been sitting in the sun, stronger again when the upstairs air conditioning is off and the downstairs is running. Whatever is in the ground-floor air goes up with it. That sounds convenient and it is not, because the delivery is uneven in a way you cannot control. The landing at the top of the stair receives a great deal. The bedroom at the end of the upstairs corridor with its door shut receives almost nothing. The guest room directly off the landing receives more than you intended, and the master suite past the linen cupboard receives less. You have no way of adjusting any of that, because the distribution is being done by the building's convection rather than by anything you own. And the same shaft is carrying everything else the ground floor is producing, which in a villa means the kitchen. A machine downstairs and a kitchen downstairs are both feeding the same chimney, and the upstairs corridor is where they meet. A machine on the upper floor solves all of that in one purchase, because it supplies the upstairs volume directly rather than waiting for it to be delivered by physics.
The observation that decides it for most people, and costs nothing to make: stand on the upper landing of the villa at four in the afternoon with the ground floor prepared and the upstairs machine off. What you can smell there is what a stairwell delivers. What you can smell in the furthest bedroom, with the door as it will be during the viewing, is what one machine downstairs actually buys you.
3
THE THREE ANSWERS
₹23,998, ₹25,999 or ₹11,999 — and the middle one is rarely right
Which gives three arrangements rather than one, and the choice between them is about the building rather than about the budget. Two Vaayu units at ₹23,998 is the answer most of the time. One in the entrance hall, one on the upper landing, both on low, both running the same scent. Roughly 1,400 m³ of villa is covered by 2,000 m³ of rated capacity, which is the headroom that lets both machines run at their lowest setting. Each is 0.9 kg and key-locked, so both can be left in a vacant villa between appointments, and both come away with you when it sells. One Aangan at ₹25,999 is right in exactly one situation: the villa has ducted air conditioning the machine can be mounted into. Then you are buying up to 3,000 m³ of capacity and, far more importantly, a distribution system — the ducting reaches every room in the house, upstairs included, and the whole villa shares one source with programmable schedules and an 800ml reservoir. That is a genuinely better result than two freestanding machines, and it is why the Aangan exists. In a villa cooled by split units, which is most of them, it is a large expensive machine standing in a hall with no ducting to use, and I will not recommend it there. One Vaayu at ₹11,999 in the entrance hall, with the upper floor accepted as lighter, is the third answer and it is a legitimate one. A villa viewing is won or lost at the gate, the door, the hall and the living volume looking out at the garden. If your budget is one machine, put it where the buyer's first ninety seconds happen and do not apologise for it.

Three answers, and when each one is right

The three arrangements for roughly 1,400 cubic metres across two floors, with what each costs and the condition that makes it correct. The bottom rows are the arrangements I am asked about and would talk most readers out of, with the reasons printed rather than left to be discovered.

Villa arrangements, priced
What each answer costs and what has to be true for it to be right
Arrangement Cost Coverage against roughly 1,400 m³ What has to be true
Two Vaayu, one per floor ★ ₹23,998 2,000 m³ of rated capacity across two volumes of about 840 m³ and 640 m³ — headroom on both, so both run on low Nothing. This is the default, it is ₹2,001 cheaper than the Aangan, and both units move to your next listing
One Aangan ₹25,999 Up to 3,000 m³ from one source, distributed through the building's own ductwork to every room including upstairs The villa has ducted air conditioning the machine can be mounted into. Without ducts it is a large machine with no distribution system
One Vaayu, ground floor only ₹11,999 1000 m³ against a ground floor of about 840 m³, plus whatever the stairwell carries upward, which is uneven and not adjustable You accept a lighter upper floor. Legitimate when the hall, the living volume and the garden view are what sell the house
One Vaayu + a Sukoon upstairs ₹13,898 Coverage on the landing, and 30–50 ml of water an hour added to a first floor that is closed between viewings The villa is occupied and air-conditioned upstairs. In a coastal or monsoon villa this is the wrong machine
One Megh in the hall ₹3,499 Six litres of water-based ultrasonic mist in a villa where you are usually fighting humidity rather than adding to it An occupied, dry, air-conditioned house. Not a closed villa in Alibaug in July, and not near a wooden stair
Candles on the console from ₹379 Fifteen to twenty minutes to scent one room, and a flame that has to be watched and put out Somebody stays in the room the whole time. An unattended flame in a vacant villa is an insurance problem, not staging

The SOSA principle
A staircase is not a connection between two floors. It is a one-way currentand it delivers to the landing generously and to the far bedroom hardly at all.
Which is why the second machine goes upstairs rather than at the other end of the ground floor, and why ₹23,998 buys a better villa than ₹25,999 does in a house with no ducting.

One machine per floor, on low, from two hours out

Start with where the two machines actually stand, because a villa gives you more choices and most of them are wrong. Downstairs, the entrance hall — not the drawing room, not the family living area, and not the dining room. A villa hall is usually the highest and most connected volume on the ground floor, it is where the buyer's impression is formed, and it is upstream of the stairwell, so what it holds is also what feeds the shaft. Waist height or above, a metre or two out of the swing of the main door, and out of the direct path of any vent. Upstairs, the landing rather than the master bedroom. The landing is the distribution point for the whole upper floor and it is the one place from which every bedroom door is reachable; a machine in the master suite scents the master suite and does nothing for the other three rooms. Both machines on the lowest setting: 2,000 m³ of rated capacity against roughly 1,400 m³ of villa is exactly the headroom that makes a low setting sufficient, and a low setting is what a viewing wants. Both running the same scent, without exception. Two compositions in one house meet on the stairs, and a staircase is the single worst place in a property for two fragrances to be introduced to each other. Set both on the 4h timer, open every internal door on both floors, and go and do something else for two hours.

Then the villa-specific preparation, which is where a 5,000 sq ft house differs from a 5,000 sq ft flat far more than the fragrance does. A villa has perhaps three times the number of smell sources an apartment has, and almost all of them are in places nobody walks through on the way to switching a machine on. The list I would work through the day before: every drain trap in the house, including the servant's toilet, the utility yard, the terrace outlet and the one in the garage; the pump room and any water tank access; the pool plant if there is one, because a chlorine plant room with a shut door is a smell waiting to be discovered by an architect; the store under the stairs; the kitchen bins and the wet-waste arrangement; and the garden side of the house, where a compost heap or a drain outfall is close enough to the living volume's windows to matter. Then cross-ventilate properly: a villa has windows on four elevations, which is a genuine advantage over any flat, and twenty minutes with opposite sides open moves more air than any machine ever will. Three hours before, close up and cool down; two hours before, doors open and both machines on low; thirty minutes before, walk the house the way the buyer will — from the gate, through the door, into the hall, up the stairs — and adjust down rather than up. The walk matters more in a villa than anywhere else, because you enter your own listing from the wrong door out of habit and the buyer never will.

Then the constraints, the waterless argument as it applies specifically here, and the line that outranks all of it. The reason both machines in this arrangement are waterless nebulisers rather than ultrasonics is that a villa is usually the property in the portfolio you are least able to keep dry. It has more external wall, more ground contact, often a garden and frequently a pool, it sits empty between viewings, and in a coastal or monsoon location the air in it is already carrying more moisture than anybody wants. An ultrasonic machine puts 30–50 ml of water an hour into that, which is the wrong direction, and it does it onto stone, timber and joinery. The Vaayu atomises undiluted oil to a dry residue-free mist: no water, no heat, nothing on a wooden stair tread or a stone floor, and nothing to spill in a house that is not yours. A reed diffuser from ₹749 has an honest role in a villa that is shown every weekend for six months, because 24 to 72 hours to establish is irrelevant when the listing is permanent — but it cannot be turned down before a buyer arrives, and in 1,400 m³ its reach is a console table rather than a house. And above every product decision on this page: a villa with damp in a ground-floor wall, a leaking terrace, a drain problem or a smell coming from under a floor is not a property to scent. Those are material facts. Find them, fix them or disclose them. Scenting over a defect to help complete a sale is misrepresentation, and it is the one thing this brand will not help with. Nothing here claims fragrance affects the price, the offer or the time on market — it is presentation, alongside photography, styling and lighting, and that is enough.

The question is not whether you need 1,400 cubic metres of capacity. It is that you need it in two places that do not share air.

Honest notes for buyers: fragrance is the last step in preparing a property, never the first, and it must never be used to cover a defect. Damp, a leak, drains, smoke or anything structural is a material fact about a property: find it, fix it or disclose it. Scent a listing that is genuinely sound. On the machines: the Vaayu at ₹11,999 is waterless cold-air nebulisation — no water, no heat and no dampness — covering up to 1000m³ or roughly 2,000–3,000 sq ft, with a 400ml tank lasting about 75 days, Bluetooth app control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, under-38dB running, auto-stop and a key-lock, at 0.9 kg and smaller than a shoebox, so one machine can serve a whole portfolio. The Aangan at ₹25,999 covers up to 3,000m³ for sales galleries and clubhouses. The ultrasonic Sukoon, Boond and Megh are water-based and add 30–50 ml of water an hour to the air, which makes them the wrong choice for a closed or humid vacant property. A reed diffuser needs 24–72 hours to establish, so it suits a listing shown over months rather than a viewing tomorrow. A candle must be attended and put out, which rules it out of an unoccupied property. SOSA does not make a room spray for the home; the sprays in the range are car perfumes. Up to 3,000 m³, an 800ml reservoir, a metal body, programmable schedules and under 42 dB. The Aangan is the right machine for a 5,000 sq ft villa in exactly one situation: the villa has ducted air conditioning the unit can be mounted into, so the building's own airflow does the distribution and every diffuser in the house is the same diffuser. In a villa cooled by split units — which is most of them — an Aangan standing on the floor of a hall is a large machine solving a distribution problem it has no ducts to solve. That is ₹25,999 for coverage you cannot deliver, and two Vaayu units would have been better and cheaper.

A note from Sonal

This is the size at which I stop being able to tell somebody that one machine will do it, and I would rather lose the easy sale than make it. Five thousand square feet over two floors is about 1,400 cubic metres and the Vaayu is rated to 1000. That is not a machine being modest about itself. It is 40 per cent more air than it is built for, and then the staircase divides what is left into two problems that do not talk to each other. Anybody who tells you one unit covers a villa of this size has either not done the sum or is hoping you will not.

What surprises people is which of the two remaining answers I recommend. Two Vaayu at ₹23,998 beats one Aangan at ₹25,999 in most villas, and it is cheaper. The Aangan is a better machine and it wins decisively in exactly one case — a house with ducted air conditioning, where it mounts into the ductwork and the building's own airflow reaches every room including the ones at the end of the upstairs corridor. Without ducts, all that capacity has nowhere to go and you have bought a large box for a hall. Two small machines, one per floor, sized to the volume each floor actually is, and both of them light enough to go in a car boot when the villa sells. That is the honest recommendation, and the ₹2,001 you did not spend buys a lot of drain traps.

Everything is made and supported from Pune, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. You get a space that smells like somewhere considered; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.

Frequently asked questions

How many cubic metres is a 5,000 sq ft villa?
Roughly 1,400 m³ at a 10 ft ceiling: 5,000 ÷ 10.76 = 465 m², × 3 m = 1,394. Do it floor by floor rather than for the house as a whole, because ground-floor ceilings in villas are often 11 or 12 ft and a double-height void adds air that never appears in the floor area.
Is one Vaayu enough for a 5,000 sq ft villa?
No. A single Vaayu is rated to 1000 m³ and the villa is about 1,400 m³, split across two floors by a staircase. Two units at ₹23,998, one per floor, is the answer most of the time. One machine in the entrance hall is a legitimate budget choice if you accept a lighter upper floor.
Should I buy the Aangan instead of two Vaayu for a villa?
Only if the villa has ducted air conditioning the Aangan can be mounted into. Then one machine at ₹25,999 covering up to 3,000 m³ uses the building's ductwork to reach every room, which is better than two freestanding units. In a villa on split ACs it has no distribution system, and two Vaayu at ₹23,998 cost less and work better.
How does a staircase affect fragrance in a villa?
It carries air upward continuously, because warm air is lighter than cool air and a stairwell is a vertical shaft with a temperature difference across it. So the upper landing receives a lot from a ground-floor machine and the far bedroom receives very little, and you cannot adjust the difference. A machine on the upper landing supplies that floor directly.
Where should the two machines go in a villa?
Downstairs in the entrance hall, upstairs on the landing. The hall is where the impression forms and it feeds the stairwell; the landing is the one point on the upper floor from which every bedroom door is reachable. Both at waist height or above, both on low, both running the same scent.
