What we answer
"Double-height entrance with a full glass facade, and fragrance that seems to vanish."
Height multiplies volume and stratifies it - the scent is above the buyers, not missing
SG Highway gallery
What we specify
"Gallery, project models, sample apartment and private closing rooms in one building."
One register, descending levels, and the sample apartment treated as a separate job
Buyer journey
What we answer
"New gallery still smelling of paint, laminate and adhesive."
Ventilate and wait. Fragrance over curing finishes is masking, and buyers read it
Pre-opening
What we specify
"Developer with several projects wanting one recognisable house scent."
Same fragrance everywhere, output set per building, documented before project two
Multi-project
What we answer
"Two crore to ten crore homes, and a question about what the ambience returns."
We will not put a number on it. It is a brand-standard decision, like the lighting spec
No claims
What we specify
"Closing room where a family signs for a home."

Founder Diaries · SOSA Commercial Scenting Guides
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 8 min read Updated September 2026
Yes, and the thing to standardise is the fragrance and the documentation rather than the equipment, because the galleries will not be the same size and pretending otherwise is how a house scent becomes inconsistent.
Quick answers — read this first
Can a developer use one scent across several projects? Yes, and it is one of the few genuinely useful applications of a house scent. Standardise the fragrance and the written intensity target; specify the machine per building, because volumes differ.

Should every gallery use the same machine? No. A small gallery and a double-height one need different units to reach the same perceived level. Standardising the machine produces inconsistent rooms, which is the opposite of the intention.

How do we stop it drifting between sites? A written level per room, key-locked machines, one named owner per site, and a fixed quarterly check. Without those, each site's level rises independently and within a year no two galleries match.
The short answer
Short answer: Standardise the fragrance and the written level. Specify the machine per building.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 for a contained room, the Aangan at ₹25,999 for a gallery floor and the Meenar at ₹38,500 for genuinely large volumes, on Hotel Collection fragrance from ₹299.
Sizing? WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with your gallery drawings including the section, ceiling heights, glazing, HVAC design and the buyer journey through the rooms - remote sizing from your own measurements, no site visit needed outside Pune.
How SOSA sizes a commercial space - the order that actually worksStep 1 - find the source: solvents, sanitiser, footwear, drains, AC filters, stale airStep 2 - draw the air volume, not the floor plan: doors and partitions divide itStep 3 - decide which zones stay unscented, and write that downStep 4 - set intensity low and schedule it around your peakStep 5 - re-check after two weeks, then leave it alone
Commercial scenting goes wrong in a predictable order: somebody buys a machine to cover a smell that has a source, puts it where the socket is, runs it at full intensity because day one felt weak, and ends up with a room people comment on for the wrong reason. Source first, air volume second, unscented zones written down third, low intensity and a schedule fourth. This guide walks that sequence, with the real SOSA machine range at each size.
Straight answer
How should a developer run one house scent across several projects?
Standardise two things and vary the third. Standardise the fragrance. One Hotel Collection scent from ₹299 across every gallery, every sample apartment and every closing room in the portfolio. This is the whole point: a buyer who visited your Thaltej project two years ago and walks into your new one should find something familiar without being able to say what. Standardise the target, written down as a perceived level rather than a machine setting. A machine setting means nothing across different volumes; "just detectable on entering from outside, not detectable after five minutes seated" is a target that transfers. Do not standardise the machine. This is where portfolio consistency usually fails. A 900 sq ft gallery with a nine-foot ceiling and a 3,000 sq ft double-height gallery need different equipment to reach the same perceived level. Buying the same unit for both guarantees one of them is wrong, and the larger one will be the one that feels thin. Specify per building: a Vaayu at ₹11,999 for a contained room, an Aangan at ₹25,999 for a gallery floor, a Meenar at ₹38,500 for a genuinely large volume. The governance, which matters more than the equipment. One named person per site who owns the setting. Key-locked machines so it cannot be nudged. A fixed quarterly check with the written target in hand, because levels drift upward everywhere independently and a year of that leaves no two galleries alike. And a rule about changing it: do not. A house scent's entire value is that it is the same one, so the day somebody suggests refreshing it for a new launch is the day it stops being a house scent. On choosing the register: pick something restrained and broadly acceptable rather than distinctive, because you are committing across a portfolio and across buyer groups that frequently span three generations. SOSA makes no claim that a house scent affects recall, enquiries or closings, and the association language here describes ordinary experience rather than a commercial effect. Fragrance is an ambience decision and never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: same fragrance, same written target, different machine per building.
Specified per building, not per portfolio: ₹11,999 for a room, ₹25,999 for a floor. One fragrance across all of them, from ₹299.

What to standardise and what not to

Developers tend to standardise the purchase order, which is the one part of this that should vary.

Why this works
Four rules for a portfolio house scent
1 One fragrance across every project, and a written rule against changing it 2 A written perceived-level target per room type, not a machine setting 3 Machines specified per building on air volume, never bulk-bought identically 4 One named owner per site, key-locked units, and a fixed quarterly check
Sales galleries are sized by air volume, not floor plan: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 for a contained room, Aangan at ₹25,999 for a floor, Meenar at ₹38,500 for very large volumes. Fragrance from ₹299.
01
The fragrance is the standard
Not the hardware
A buyer recognises a smell, not a model number. One scent across the portfolio is what creates familiarity; identical equipment across different volumes destroys it, because the same unit in a larger room reads as thinner and the rooms stop matching.
Tip: Buyers recognise the scent. They never see the machine.
02
Write a perceived target
A setting number does not travel
Level two means nothing in a different volume. Just detectable on entering from outside, not detectable after five minutes seated is a target anybody on any site can check, and it is what makes a portfolio standard auditable rather than aspirational.
Tip: Write what it should feel like, not what dial to use.
03
Never refresh it
The value is that it does not change
The first new launch will bring a proposal to update the scent for the new brand positioning. Accepting it converts a house scent back into a decoration, and two years of accumulated recognition is spent for nothing.
Tip: The day you refresh it, it stops being a house scent.
The SOSA principle
A house scent is a documentation exercise that happens to involve a machine.
Which is why it usually fails on governance rather than on equipment.

Choosing a register that lasts

Across a portfolio, choose restraint over distinctiveness. You are committing for years, across projects, to buyer groups spanning three generations, and a distinctive register ages badly in all three directions.

Scent Why it suits the mood
Standardise The fragrance, and a written perceived-level target per room type
Vary The machine - by air volume, building by building
Govern One named owner per site, key-locked units, a quarterly check
Never Refresh or rotate the scent for a new launch

Not sure which size? WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with your gallery drawings including the section, ceiling heights, glazing, HVAC design and the buyer journey through the rooms - sizing is done remotely from your own measurements.

The point at which this becomes a documented brand standard is in the standardisation chapter, sizing individual galleries is in the volume chapter, and the equivalent problem for a jewellery chain is in the multi-showroom chapter.

The SOSA commercial range

Whatever the space, the method is the same: find the source of any smell and fix it, draw the air volume rather than the floor plan, write down which zones stay unscented, then set a low intensity and a schedule. Every SOSA fragrance is alcohol-free and made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the range by the size of space it is honestly built for.

The SOSA commercial range
Sized by air volume, not by ambition - from a ₹749 reed diffuser to the ₹38,500 Meenar
Option Right for What it actually is Price
Reed diffusers One small room, no power point, no maintenance Alcohol-free reed oil, passive, silent. Good for a single cabin or a small front desk, not for a hall from ₹749
Boond / Sukoon ultrasonic A desk, a single cabin, a small reception Water-based cool mist; runs on Hotel Collection fragrance, adds a little humidity to the room ₹899 / ₹1,899
Megh ultrasonic (6L) A larger waiting area where visible mist is wanted 6L tank, water-based. Still a room machine rather than a floor machine ₹3,499
SOSA Vaayu Reception, lounge, corridor, a contained showroom floor Waterless cold-air, up to 1000m³ (about 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank, app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, under 38 dB, key-lock for public areas ₹11,999
SOSA Aangan Large premises, or scenting carried on the building's own HVAC HVAC-mount nebulising machine, 800ml, roughly 8,000 to 10,000 sq ft, under 42 dB ₹25,999
SOSA Meenar Hotels, large showrooms, venues, corporate floors The largest machine in the range, specified for roughly 12,000 to 18,000 sq ft ₹38,500
Hotel Collection fragrance The fragrance the machines actually run on Seven scents, 15ml / 100ml / 300ml. SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand from ₹299
Honest notes for developers: fragrance is an ambience decision only and is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control. Construction dust, curing paint, adhesives, laminates and new-material off-gassing are resolved by ventilation and time rather than by fragrance, and a scent introduced over them masks a condition instead of finishing it. Ceiling height and glazing materially change air volume and thermal behaviour, so galleries are sized from the section drawing rather than the floor plan. Sample apartments are specified as neutral. SOSA makes no claim that ambient scenting increases footfall, enquiries, conversion, retention, referrals, transaction value or customer spend, and no such claim should be made on the strength of this guide. Where association language is used it is descriptive of ordinary experience - people come to associate a place with how it feels - and is not a commercial performance claim. Ultrasonic diffusers and the machines run on the Hotel Collection fragrance; reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil, and the two are not interchangeable. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand. SOSA's fragrances are made in India; the scent machines are imported. Listed prices are store prices and are subject to change. SOSA's paid on-site walkthrough is ₹1,500 and is Pune only - everywhere else, sizing is done remotely over WhatsApp from your own measurements. A note from Sonal

A luxury sales gallery is the only commercial space I work on where the customer walks a defined route through five different rooms in one visit. Reception, models, sample apartment, closing room, and the walk between them. Most scenting proposals treat that as one space with one setting, and it is not - it is one register applied at descending levels, with one of those rooms deliberately left out.

The room people always want to scent most is the sample apartment, and it is the one I argue hardest against. A show home succeeds when a buyer stops seeing a display and starts placing their own furniture in it, and a recognisable developer fragrance interrupts exactly that. Let it smell clean and aired, or of nothing.

On the money question, which developers ask more directly than anybody else: I have no figure for what ambience returns on a crore-value sale, and I distrust anyone who offers one. This is a brand-standard decision - the same category as your lighting specification and your signage - and it should be judged that way. Fragrance is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531. A part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Can a developer use one scent across projects?
Yes. Standardise the fragrance and a written perceived-level target, and specify the machine per building.
Should every gallery use the same machine?
No. Different volumes need different units to reach the same perceived level, so identical hardware makes the rooms inconsistent.
How do we stop levels drifting between sites?
A written target, key-locked machines, one named owner per site and a fixed quarterly check.
Should we refresh the scent for a new launch?
No. The value of a house scent is that it does not change, and refreshing it spends the recognition you built.
Will buyers remember us because of it?
SOSA makes no claim that a house scent affects recall, enquiries or closings. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.
