Different customers in different moods with a different air problem, and treating them as one room is why service receptions so often feel like an afterthought.
Quick answers — read this first
Should a service reception and a sales showroom be scented the same? The same fragrance, if both are enclosed, but not the same level or the same priority. A service reception sits closer to the workshop, has a different mood and a longer dwell.
Why is a service reception harder? It is usually adjacent to the workshop, so it inherits solvent, oil and tyre smells through doors and shared air, and no fragrance addresses that. It also holds customers who are mildly unhappy.
Which should be scented first? The service reception, in most dealerships. Customers spend far longer there, return far more often, and it is almost always the more neglected of the two rooms.
The short answer
Short answer: Same fragrance, different level. And service usually deserves it first.
The pick: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 for a contained lounge or reception on Hotel Collection fragrance from ₹299, rather than anything aimed at the display hall.

Commercial scenting goes wrong in a predictable order: somebody buys a machine to cover a smell that has a source, puts it where the socket is, runs it at full intensity because day one felt weak, and ends up with a room people comment on for the wrong reason. Source first, air volume second, unscented zones written down third, low intensity and a schedule fourth. This guide walks that sequence, with the real SOSA machine range at each size.
Should a service reception and a sales showroom be treated the same?
Same fragrance, different level, and the service reception is usually the one that deserves attention first. Four ways they differ. One: dwell. A sales customer crosses the showroom and spends most of their time in a cabin or at a car. A service customer sits in the service reception for twenty minutes at drop-off, and frequently an hour or more at collection, sometimes several times a year. Over a vehicle's life they spend far more hours in your service area than they ever did in your showroom. Two: mood. A sales customer is buying something they want. A service customer is spending money they had not planned to spend on a problem, or at best on routine maintenance, and is frequently mildly unhappy before they arrive. That does not call for a nicer smell; it calls for the room not adding to the irritation. Three: the air problem. A service reception is usually adjacent to the workshop and inherits solvent, oil, brake dust and tyre smells through doors, shared returns and technicians walking through. No fragrance addresses that, and a fragrance layered over workshop air is worse than the workshop air alone - so the service reception needs separation and extraction before it needs anything ambient, which the showroom generally does not. Four: neglect. Sales showrooms are maintained because customers are being sold to in them. Service receptions accumulate: a full noticeboard, a broken chair, a television nobody can turn down, a coffee machine out of order, and a washroom used by both customers and technicians. That last one is worth a rota of its own. What this means for specification. Same fragrance in both if both enclose, because a customer who bought here and services here should find one dealership. Different levels, set independently, and the service reception judged seated at the hour mark rather than at the door. A Vaayu at ₹11,999 each on fragrance from ₹299, key-locked.And if you can only do one, do the service reception, because that is where your customers actually spend their hours and it is almost certainly the more tired of the two rooms. SOSA does not recommend scenting workshops, service bays, paint or coating areas. Technicians work full shifts there, cannot leave, and use smell diagnostically; a fragrance over solvent is worse than either. SOSA makes no claim that scenting affects retention or repeat service business. Fragrance is an ambience decision and never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Four ways they differ
Over a vehicle's life a customer spends more hours in your service reception than in your showroom.
Why this works
Four differences that change the specification
In a dealership the rooms that repay scenting are small: the SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 in a handover lounge or customer lounge, fragrance from ₹299. The display hall usually does not hold it.
Twenty minutes at drop-off and an hour at collection, several times a year, for years. A customer spends far more of their relationship with you in the service reception than in the showroom, and it is usually the more neglected room.
Tip: The showroom gets one visit. Service gets twenty.
02
Workshop air arrives first
And fragrance cannot help
Solvent, oil, brake dust and tyre smells travel through doors, shared returns and technicians walking through. A fragrance over workshop air is worse than the workshop air alone, so separation and extraction precede anything ambient.
Tip: Fix the door before you buy the machine.
03
A different mood
Not a case for a nicer smell
A service customer is spending unplanned money and is often already mildly irritated. The room's job is not to please them but to avoid adding to it, which argues for a lower level rather than a more appealing one.
Tip: Do not add to the irritation.
The SOSA principle
The showroom gets one visit. The service reception gets twenty.
Which is the wrong way round from how they are usually maintained.

Two registers or one
Same fragrance in both so the dealership reads as one business, and a lower level in service, judged seated at the hour mark rather than standing at the door.

A service customer is spending money they had not planned to spend. The room's job is to avoid adding to it.

The SOSA commercial range
Whatever the space, the method is the same: find the source of any smell and fix it, draw the air volume rather than the floor plan, write down which zones stay unscented, then set a low intensity and a schedule. Every SOSA fragrance is alcohol-free and made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the range by the size of space it is honestly built for.

Honest notes for dealerships and coating studios: fragrance is an ambience decision only and is never a substitute for ventilation, cleaning or source control. Solvent, polish, coating and paint odours are an extraction and workshop-ventilation matter, and active working bays - including PPF and ceramic-coating bays and any cure process - are specified as permanently unscented. Display floors with frequent vehicle-door openings and high ceilings exchange air faster than any machine can fill them, so contained customer rooms are specified first. SOSA makes no claim that ambient scenting increases footfall, enquiries, conversion, retention, referrals, transaction value or customer spend, and no such claim should be made on the strength of this guide. Where association language is used it is descriptive of ordinary experience - people come to associate a place with how it feels - and is not a commercial performance claim. Ultrasonic diffusers and the machines run on the Hotel Collection fragrance; reed diffusers use their own alcohol-free reed oil, and the two are not interchangeable. The Hotel Collection scents are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by the world's finest hotels; SOSA is an independent Indian fragrance house and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or associated with any hotel brand. SOSA's fragrances are made in India; the scent machines are imported. Listed prices are store prices and are subject to change. A note from Sonal
Car showrooms defeat more scent machines than any other space, and in Ahmedabad the reason is visible from the road: twenty-foot ceilings, glass frontages, and doors sized to drive a car through that open all day. Volume, stratification and constant exchange, together. Anybody who promises you a consistent fragrance across that floor in May has not stood in one.
So the question is not how many square feet you can cover - it is which rooms repay the money. The customer lounge, the sales cabins, the handover area: contained volumes, where people sit and decide. A dealership group that scents those properly across every site and leaves the display floors alone has spent its budget where it does something, and has a consistent brand standard into the bargain.
The highest-value fragrance in this business is not in your building at all. A customer experiences your lounge for forty minutes and their own cabin every day for years, which is why the interior preparation and what you place in the car at handover matter more than any showroom machine. Active workshop, PPF and coating bays stay unscented - those are contamination-controlled spaces and that decision is not ours to negotiate. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531. A part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
